My 4 month old girl doesn't like to be sat up, everytime we sit her on our laps she'll spring up to stand. She always loves to be pull up to stand and her lags almost don't lag. Is this normal? It's so tiring for me...she's very strong and active. Should I worry about this?

I wouldn't worry about it at all. My DS did the same thing - just keen to get into the action I think. That said, he didn't start walking until 11.5 months so it didn't get him any further ahead there.

She'll probably love the jolly jumper soon !

Hey rebecca mum - I worry because my 6 month old never tries to stand! He's all spaghetti legs...

So you worry if they do, worry if they don't.

I am pretty sure that trying to stand up is a pretty normal thing for your bub to be doing. Just as I am pretty sure that my little dude not trying to stand up is pretty normal too. They all develop at different rates, in their own good time :D

And here I thought I was the only one!! It's exhausting, isn't it?! My DD has been doing this for about a month now & she is nearly 4 months old.

Oh my God my DD is exactlly the same, it drives me nuts having to hold her inn the standing position all the time. She also flexs straight when I try and sit her up. Hopefully they will grow out of this, as Id like a baby that sits and plays, as she hates being flat n her back to play!!!! Oh yeah shes foour months old too.

ewells, your baby girl is soooooo cute! I love that photo!!!!

Yes, I'm hoping she'll grow out of it too! Sometimes if I'm lying on the floor with my knees bent & Claire sitting on my tummy, back against my legs, I can pull her hands forward & she'll just sit there. Have you tried doing that? I'm trying to do it every day to get her used to sitting.

Just out of curiosity, was your bub breech??

Claire has had excellent head control & very strong legs from birth & I'm wondering if it had anything to do with the fact that she was breech.....?

A bit of a loose theory I know, but I do wonder!

I'd be worried - but in a good way!;) - she'll be walking before you know it and then the fun begins!:)

There is a broad age group for milestones like standing, crawling etc and your ds just happens to be at the top end! She's gonna keep you on your toes!!:)

My bub wasnt breech. She too had great head control and very strong legs from birth. She was a c-section baby and was not engaged before birth, also she was 9 days late.

Sounds very like my little man (now nearly 8 months). He still hates laying down, is incredibly strong when he refuses to bend and is really strong-willed. Changing has now become a challenge and is often quite tearful.

We actually bought a 'bouncin' baby play place' from Toys'R'Us - and it saved my life. It's similar to a walker in that it is a big plastic thing with a seat but it doesn't move, they can swing the seat around and bounce up and down but unit is stationary and there are fixed toys all around. This meant he could stand/sit up as he wished, could see all the action, stopped getting frustrated with dropping his toys but he was safe and I wasn't holding him. I still worked hard at getting him tummy time and play time on the foor but it gave us both some space and stopped hours of frustration. It was pretty expensive but for us it was well worth it. I saw one recently 2nd hand for about $60. He also loves the jolly jumper and now that he stands unassisted is very very taken with those little activity tables.
