Hiya guys,

I was wondering if i can use a jar of Bechamel sauce for this type of thing, and just top it with parmesan and breadcrumbs? I have a jar of it in the pantry that's all, and it needs to be used (and is easier :D).

Either that, or has someone got an easy recipe for it?

Cheers!

You definately can... but IMO, beschamel in jars tend to be pretty SALTY and not like REAL home-made versions of it... but I mean, it's worth a try.

Otherwise I'd just make a basic white sauce, mix in the cheese, sprinkle the crumbs and extra parmesan on top...

Basic white sauce is melt butter in saucepan and mix with flour, then add milk slowly, mixing, and then I let it simmer for a bit. Add salt and pepper and whatever you want...

I do it all over a low-heat though, otherwise I find it tends to burn/boil and it also gets lumpier that way. I also use a whisk rather than a fork - so much easier to avoid lumps.

You can always use the sauce as a pasta base. Like, add some herbs and a few veges and chicken and such... I remember using a jar of beschamel as a pasta sauce (it told me to use it in a recipe - and I was too lazy to make my own...lol). Tasted fine.
