Hi Ladies and Boys?
Just wondering when your muffin went from 2 sleeps to 1 during the day?
Mine doesnt sleep so well during the night.....and sleeps twice during the day.
Lately though I find that he's playing up more and resisting even though he appears tired.
Is it time to cut back to 1 sleep a day?
What do you do and how old is your baby?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Lilac,

My DS is almost 20 months old and still has two big sleeps per day (at least 2 hours from 9:30am and another 1.5 hours at 2:30pm). He then sleeps from 7 at night to 5:30am.

Depending upon what we are doing during the day, sometimes he only has one sleep (like today - he went to bed at 12:00 and will probably sleep 'til 3).

He goes to Daycare 3 days per week and the girls think he is ready for just one sleep. I think little ones need as much sleep as they can get so I'm not pushing to change his routine at home at all.

I too have been wondering the same thing. My ds is just shy of 12 months and sleeps from6pm till 5/5.30am and was having two 1.5hr sleeps a day. Than last week he was really resisting going down for his morning sleep so I ended up getting him up. I could see he was tired but he played happily. Though he ended up having his 2nd sleep before lunch rather than after which really threw our day out of whack!! Anyway yesterday and today he didn't resist but has only slept for 40 mins in the morning (still having arvo sleep). So, I think he is in the process of dropping asleep, but I really don't know!!

Sorry, probably no help at all:o

Hi there and welcome by the way!
Oliver went down to one sleep a day only a few weeks ago and he is 18 months old.
I got sick of the battle, so I just let him play until he turns into a grump and then put him in bed. Some days it's at 11 am others later. Sounds like what yours is doing.:)
Good luck!

Hi Lilac and welcome to bubhub.
My DD2 is 15 months old and varies between one and two sleeps a day - and has been moving between the two for a couple of months now. On the days that she has one it is at about 11 or 12 and for two hours. On the days that she has a morning sleep it is at about 8am and for an hour and the second is at about 2pm for an hour and a half. She seems to be moving more towards the one sleep a day but I tend to just play each day by ear - her tired signs are pretty obvious so if they show, down she goes.

Lucas is now 19mths old and has been having one sleep a day for the best part of 6 months now. I was finding that with two sleeps during the day he would wake at around 11pm and be awake until around 3 or 4am....and that wore thin real quick!!!
He would now still sleep 3 hours a day if I let him but then we had the same problem of being awake most of the night.
He now goes to bed after lunch and sleeps for around 2 hours.
He goes to bed at the moment at 8.30/9pm and sleeps until 9/10am...he's happy, daddy's happy & mama's happy (and that's really important 'cause if mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!!!):p

oh so confusing isnt it.... DD is 9 months and has just dropped herself down to 2 sleeps a day, however day carer 2 days a week can still get her to take 3 sleeps. Maybe she is busier there?

Hi all,
My son has just turned ten months and has started to refuse his sfternoon sleeps. He was having an hour and fifteen both sleeps however his morning one started to stretch out to 2/12 hours. So he refused to go down again in the arvo and if he does its getting a bit late in the day. So for the last few days i have held him out a bit in the morning so he has a lunch time nap instead this seems to be working yesterday he had three hours straight!
