thanks to Cindy for raising this important issue. My friend told me about "Bub Hub" and suggested I post an e-mail.

My husband and I are currently 29 weeks pregnant, happy and healthy with our first baby who has been made with the amazing gift of a donated egg. I am 35 years old and have "Premature Ovarian Failure" (early menopause). We had tried IVF for about 4 years and then a family friend offered us the gift of her eggs. We tried once and failed and then we had another go and voila here we are and we are so excited.

We feel so blessed each day that this is the way we are going to make our family, but there is a lot to think about and the issues are complex, so we would like to hear from other families that are made up this way, ie; donated eggs, sperm or embryos.

We live in Brisbane and there is little in the way of formal support and there are times when it would great to speak with other families that have been given this opportunity.

thanks in advance

Congratulations on your pregancy! You and your husband must be so exicted. And what an amazing friend to have made the donation for you. A friend of ours back in Canada had a sister who hit early menopause at 30 as well, so my friend and her hub rushed through their family: 4 bubs in about 6 years and none of them twins! I had never heard of it before

I was lucky enough to conceive my bub the old-fashioned way so can't offer you much support or shared experiences, but I wanted to welcome you to Bubhub. I hope you can find some support on here.

Hi v&p,

Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!

I had to reply as I am in a very close & similar situation to you! I was diagnosed with POF at 30  , am now 35  and am currently 33 weeks pregnant from the help of donor eggs from my cousin :D

I live in Sydney, but my cousin ED lives in Brisbane. I too feel extremely blessed & grateful to have gotten this far & couldn't be more excited (& nervous!) about the upcoming birth & motherhood!!

I am member of a wonderful web support group that has both ED's & IP's - some just starting on their journeys, others already with children from Egg Donations. If you'd like further details, send me a private message & I'll give you the details. I know I wouldn't be where I am today without the support of that group.

It makes me smile when I know of other successful Egg Donations & so happy that we're spreading the word on such a wonderful thing.

Love,
ness x

:D Congrats on your pregnancy!

I have all the paperwork from Monash IVF here to donate my eggs, had it since I had my first child. I'm worried I'll be too "old" by the time I finish my family and breastfeeding ( when you consider my 3.5 year old is still feeding it could all be ages away), I think it's wonderful that women are able to help each other in this way.

Hey v&p

Congratulations on your pregnancy - you must be counting down the days until you get to meet your baby.

I agree - there is so little in the way of formal support, is great to be able to use the internet to reach more people who need to talk, or need information, or need to hear others' stories just so that they believe it actually does happen.

I don't know why most clinics haven't quite caught on that both recipients and donors need/want more input - the first clinic I visited to donate, I walked away from the very first 'hello' iinterview with drugs and already had blood taken. Knowing what I know now, I think that is completely appalling to 'lead' a potential donor down the path so quickly in the race to secure their donation. However, as with most things, you need to take responsibility for your own care as well - where forums like this are priceless.

I agree - keep those stories coming!

Love

Cindy
