Hi there :)

Andrew was 4 months the first time he rolled over from front to back. But it was probably a few weeks before he started doing it regularly!

My 6 month old niece still hasn't rolled, and from what I've read, that is pretty normal too!

Lucas first rolled over at 11 days and did it a few times and then stopped for a while. He started rolling regularly at 16 weeks and last night he started rolling over in his sleep so i think its time he slept in the cot so he doesnt roll off the bed lol...

Lochie first rolled at about 11wks then stopped for about a week. Now at 15wks i can't stop him, the minute he is on the floor with nothing above him (activity gym) his rolling. And then getting frustrated cause he cant go anywhere else. But as the others said all babys are different. We've got 7 babys in mothers group and only 2 have started to even think about rolling...

Ava is just over 5 months & started rolling about two weeks ago. She only rolls from back to front & only to the left. I was told that some babies don't start rolling until they are 7 months. Some even longer.

Edited to say, at 16 weeks Ava couldn't even roll onto her side. When she did get on her side she rolled all the way over within days.

Toby who is now 8 and a half months only started rolling at Christmas time and now a month later he is crawling properly. So after a slow start he caught up quite quickly.

I should add he sat at about 5 and a half months and didn't want to do anything else for a while. As someone else said all babies are very different :) My first son rolled at about 3 and half months so I thought Toby was quite late to roll!

#1 rolled at 13w, #2 rolled at 16w, but my neice is 6mo and only rolls once or twice then doesn't for ages. She is still wrapped for sleep, so I think this stops her a little bit.

At 4m I wouldn't worry about it, just keep encouraging her and she'll eventually work it out. Be careful when she can roll both ways as you'll find she can start getting around the house by rolling. It's funny when you put bub down on the floor to play and you come back a minute later and can't find her because she's on the other side of the room. :)

Chanel started rolling from her back to her stomach at about 3.5 months. It took her a while longer to roll from her tummy to her back though...she did that at about 5 months. Now she just rolls and rolls and rolls all over the floor. lol.

question for you ladies...my ds gets himself up on his elbows when hes having tummy time and he sort of leans to one side and rolls himself over..do you count that as rolling or do you count it from when hes laying flat on his tummy?
thanks vicky

DS was almost 8 months old before he *properly* rolled over and was doing it intentionally. Prior to that we got one half-hearted roll every month or so. He would twist his legs over (at around 6 months) but couldn't get the rest of his body over.

I used to worry that there was something wrong or that he wouldn't be able to get back over etc, but no matter how much I encouraged it or helped, he didn't do it until 8 months.

Needless to say, he is 11 months next week and in the last 4 weeks has:

*gone from stomach to sitting
*started crawling (on his tummy only but boy, is he faster than a speeding bullet!!)
*pulled himself up on everything, all the time
*started cruising on every piece of furniture
*started trying to walk by himself!!

Don't stress, they honestly do everything in their own time (and when you least expect it!!)

I know its frustrating, but my DS just shows that a "later roller" doesn't mean anything!!
