Hi everyone, so i went to the gyno this morning (RE: irreg cycles) and he did a few tests (cervix swab, internal check) and sent me for a blood test to see if i o'ed and also to check my thyroid and pituitary gland functioning.
He would like to see my cycles go to every 28 days. (or better still FALL PREGNANT!)
He gave me some fert drugs (clomiphene (clomid)) and i have to take 1/2 tablet on day 5,6,7,8,9 of my next cycle and to do OPK mid cycle (i wrote it down but i think i have to do them day 13,14,15 etc.) He said to buy fortel.
He said to bd the day i get LH surge and 3 days after. He said NOT to bd every 2nd day leading up to o as it may reduce sperm. He said for Dh to hold out 5 days before my LH surge. (He hasnt done sperm test on DH, so i guess that might not be for everyone).

I thought i would let you all know cause we were only TTC for around 3-4 months until i found out that irreg cycles could mean infertility (cd were 32-38 days). So i hoped i have encouraged some of you to get a check up!

P.S: does anyone know of anyone who has fallen preg after using clomid?
P.S: I will get my results after my next 28 day cycle

clomid has worked for HEAPS of people....it does put u on a bit of an emotional ride...i am on round 4 of 50mgs of clomid....be careful with the opk's cause i read on the leaflett that clomid can effect the opk results! i bd every 2nd ish day...i dont know when i O because i dont get a + opk result....i have a 32 day cycle with clomid so i try and bd from every 2ndish day then 16, 17, 18, 20 then every 2nd from there!!! i have tried all sorts of bding times, so all i can say is GOOD LUCK HUN!!!!:hugs:

What was your period cycle like before clomid? (If any), i guess it all depends on a persons cycle before hand. On average my cycle was 32, so hopefully it will adjust to 28. For now ill 'rely' on OPK, and if it doesnt work then we will just have to go from there...! Thanks for the advice!

Hey Singa,
its great u got some action straight away.
Im currently on my 3rd round of clomid and waiting for a late AF...
Before clomid my cycle was 32 days and after my first round it came to 28 days and then i had a 26 day cycle and now my 3rd month im up2 day 30 but im thinking i may of O'd later so im holding out to test.
I find that AF b4 clomid was a lil heavier but i dont have really heavy periods anyway so its hard to describe, if u read AINS thread about her AF lol thats what mine has been like the last 2 times.
This cycle im a little confused about as i have no idea whats going on and i want AF to arrive as im going up2 100mg of clomid..
Best of luck and i hope it works first go for u..:babydust2: :babydust2: :babydust2: :babydust2:

I was put on clomid due to age, just a boost really, I was ov fine etc.
Am currently on the 2ww first rnd again.

All the best and hope you get first round also :babydust2:

Oh good luck!!
I am assuming if I dont fall preg this round (and once tests results arrive) the gyno will put me on 50mg also. It seems everyone is on 50mg+, but i guess this is just a starting point for me...

Singa, Im a little confused as to why they think you might be having trouble because you average 32 day cycles? Up to 35 is considered normal and I suppose Im a little worried that they would prescribe clomid for you without even seeing how you are ovulating. I was given clomid because I was definitely not ovulating due to pcos, but maybe drs are more keen to dish it out. Its not the nicest of drugs and there are quite a few side effects. I really am not saying this to scare you because I didnt have any side effects, but I guess Im a little concerned that they would give you this without even diagnosing the problem (if there is a prob). I know they ran tests, so you may know more in the next few days when you get the results, but my gyn wouldnt even prescribe the drug without the diagnosis in his hand. I guess every dr is different. I wish you all the best on it though! Regardless of why you have to be on it, I know a lot of women have success with it, so I hope you are one of them!!! :)

I was thinking the same. Im going to call tonight for my results. Maybe that is why he said to take 25mg.
I also mentioned to the doc how I never picked up a positive LH surge last cycle.
I guess also its hard to plan your bding around a 32-38/44 day cycle, a person really needs to know when the are about to O, its very stressfull wondering if you might O day 18 or day 34.
Thanks for your help, ill let you know how it goes...
