Ok girlies im so excited my Green Nappies have arrived yayayaya !
They have been washed twice & are all folded ready to go the inserts have been washed 3 times along with the hemp & are still currently drying so hopefully tomorrow i can start with making it into the cloth world ! :D
What im wondering about was the liners.
Do i need to use them in the pocket nappies ?
Im thinking i would rather use them in the nappy i know bubs will poo in ( he does them of a morning so i at least know when ) as i think this will make it easier for cleaning etc.
Now what do i use as a liner ?
I dont want to buy disposables as this defeats the purpose.
Now ive heard of some using old bunny rugs cut up is this right ?
Or what else is a good idea ?
I was so lame today i kept touching them im so excited especially with how soft the "dreamy times" are hehehe. :o
What do they say small things amuse small minds  LOL !
Hi Ally
you can use microfleece as a liner - cut to size - no need to hem or overlock as it doesn't fray. You can buy it by the metre from spotlight - 60cm should make about 30 liners if you cut them 10cmx30cm
:)

But ive already got i think its microfleece as the booster to use along when its the day & boosted with the hemp for nites .... Now im confused again LOL !
nope you'd have the microfibre as the booster -- ;)
microfibre soaks up lots of liquid (think kitchen sponge)
microfleece hates liquid and stays dry

AAAAAAaaaaah !
Hehehe now i feel really dumb :o
Ok well im off to Spotlight this weekend now heheh oh darn what a shame ! :D
My partner hasnt let me step foot back in there since just before bubs was born as i never spend under $300 each visit !
So now i have an excuse hehehehe !
Thankyou :)
If you are going to spotlight just keep clear of the baby manchester section then because they had some very nice cot sheet sets for $9.95 100% cotton white with coloured gingham tops (aqua, blue, pink, yellow and purple) the other day and I ended up with two sets LOL ;)
If the Dreamytimes are like their other pockets, you won't need any fleece liner at all. It's already built in so by adding another fleece liner into it, you will actually be creating a repelling effect which is no good for the inside of a nappy
If you are a bit icky about poo, you can get the flushable liners (Eenees are one brand) and be able to pick it up and flush down the toilet. I haven't seen them available in shops recently (they used to be in target) so you would have to buy them online. Not all disposable liners are flushable.
Edited to add: Just re-reading your OP, what purpose do you want the liner to serve? Stay dry feel? Natural fibre against the bottom for nappy rash reasons? Wet feel for toilet training? Poo disposale?

I use polar fleece as liners. Even in my Greens Dreamtime. I like to remove the liner to flush the poo off too!!! You can usually get off cuts of polar fleece really cheap at SL. I got 2m for $2 once. I just cut them up to the size of the nappy and lay them in.
I know what you mean about patting them....I was the same.....:D Have fun using them for the first time.
P.S don't put microfibre next to bubs skin as it draws out all the moisture.

Rhoxie - Now thats just evil ! Telling a girl who loves Spotlight about all the great special geees :p My partner will have to find you & have a word me thinks after we go tomorrow ;)
LucyE - Oooo ok well i will see how it goes with my first try tonight as i will get an idea then but will just get some fleece for back up. The reason i want to use a liner is so that i can pull it out when bubs has pooed & clean that off as opposed to try to get it off the whole nappy. Sounds weird i know but i have a thing about wet towels or the likes so having to hold a wet nappy & get poo off freaks me out. Told you weird :o Plus i also want the stay dry feel as bubs gets funny about being wet & due to him having sensitive skin which i think is why he doesnt like the wet feeling he gets a nappy rash every now & then.
Harry'smum - Thanks for your help i know about the microfibre not being near the skin thats why i got all confused LOL did you just get the normal polar fleece like the stuff you can make blankets out of or the likes ?

It was in teh clearance bins just rolled up polar fleece, they price according to weight and because it's so light is really cheap, but you can get it on teh shelves. They have it all labelled as polar fleece. Good luck
Sounds weird i know but i have a thing about wet towels or the likes so having to hold a wet nappy & get poo off freaks me out.
I understand how you feel! Pocket nappies don't get that wet soggy feeling the way fitteds do and I've not had a problem using the little squirt on the pockets (so long as you take the stuffing out first)
Plus i also want the stay dry feel as bubs gets funny about being wet
The fleece inner already provides that stay dry feel. You don't need another layer and it will actually inhibit the function of the nappy.
i know about the microfibre not being near the skin thats why i got all confused
Microfibre is different to microfleece. Microfleece is fine against the skin and is better quality than polar fleece. Polar fleece tends to have a 'right' and 'wrong' side and also pills faster. Microfleece is thinner and in my experience lasts longer. I was not able to find any microfleece at Spotlight but did find it on sale at Lincraft (this was a while back) in heaps of different colours. From memory I got 2.5m for about $7.00
For really accurate info on what's best for the Dreamytimes, drop Sascha or Ruth at Green Nappies a line and get it clarified.
Hi all,
Just thought I'd add to this thread that you all inspired me to go to Spotlight today (not sure if that was a good thing :p) and I bought the cot sheets :D as well as a metre of stuff called "Micro Polar" (Fleece).. it was with all the other fleeces that were labelled Polar, Anti-pilling etc etc... but there were a few rolls in different colours with the word "micro" in front. I checked with the lady behind the counter and she assured me that it was in fact microfleece.
It was $9.95 a metre. :)

LucyE - Thankyou so much for your help you have always been great ! I have just put bubs in his dreamytimes for bed tonite with no liner as i thought i would give it a go without due to you saying i shouldnt need it as well as not going to SL till tomorrow. All seems fine 4hrs (almost 5) later so hopefully it stays that way LOL although i think i packed in too much boosting as well as not putting it on quite right LOL ! Bubs thrashed about for a good hour trying to get to sleep & when i checked on him an hour ago i realised the nappy was moving down his bum heh looked so cute though especially as he was laying on his tummy, i never thought bum crack could look so good LOL ;) So as i said will have to play around with them a bit & find whats right but as you said to email Sasha or Ruth which i might do anyways as im now going to do another order ! Plus see if i can work out how to get more dreamytimes as they have sold out & apparently discontinuing the line  Trust me just as i find the joys of them !!!!!
cosmic - LOL Hope hubby realises it was our fault not yours :p Thanks for the heads up on the microfleece shall be getting some tomorrow !
Harry'smum - Banned like me LOL Its not like we buy anything we dont need right *whistles*

hehe its a bit sad isn't it...........I really do have a life!;)
How was the first night.......
Ally -- ** Evil Laugh ** My hubby hates it when I go to spotlight too -- I went in for microfleece the other day and came out with enough flannelette for 4 pairs of kiddy pjs & two new pillow cases (and thats not counting the new doona cover and sheet sets and 2 cot sheet sets from the week before that) LOL Well we did NEED all of those things :o
Allyoo, if it's the breathable fleece pocket that you're after, have you checked out Sandra's Stuffables or Cherub's Kiss? They have a different shape to them so they may suit bub a bit better if the Dreamytimes fall down a bit. Glad that you like them :)
Great find C are you going to make liners out of it?
Hi K... yep, I bought it to cut into liners for my fitted nappies. I think I'm going to end up with more pockets than anything else though - they just seem so practical - in which case I probably won't need all the fleece liners since they are already lined.
But as it is, I have 4 fitted nappies so far and will get a few more so hopefully it will be put to good use. Either that, or I'll get creative and decide to make my own pockets and use it for that!

Ok girlies here goes !!!!!
I LOVE GREENS NAPPIES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hahahaha !
Ok well i had bubs in his dreamytimes with no liner last nite & he did a poo overnite so here was me a little shocked this morning LOL ! Anyways it was so easy to get off !!!
LOVE
IT !
I had also emailed Sasha overnite & she had replied in the morning saying " there isnt a need for liners as the fleece inside works so that it washes off easily but if you want you can use a liner of microfleece but it means more washing so its really up to you ! " ( LOL heheh so yeah less is good :p )
Otherwise i was right saying i over did the boosting LOL better to be safe than sorry right hehehehe So im trying just the hemp insert tonite so hopefully thats the way to go ! This also means they fit much better as they arent so bulky at the front ! But i just cant help patting his bum in them OMG i wish i had realised how easy & fun this would all be as i would never have wasted all that money on disposables !
They are sooooo easy to use its great so i have put another order in :o
But can you believe it was my partner who made me !!! He loves them too so got me to order more so we can get them asap & will also be putting in an order with Sandra too !
Rhoxie - Hahaha omg i went in today & we went to the local one was so dissappointed ! They hardly had anything couldnt even get the microfleece ! Bummer ! Anyways i still spent $100 tho LMAO !!!!!! I couldnt resist ! :o I got my friend who is expecting at the end of the year a little blanket with matching sheets plain with an embroidered duck on them i wanted the puppy ones for bubs but he put his foot down on that ! Darn ! Got some cushion covers, a table runner & some kitchen stuff. Wanted fabric but just couldnt make up my mind but also their selection there isnt so great so will head over to one in the other direction LOL He is very worried about this LOL !
Oh cosmic if you start up a business you so better let me be your first customer :p

oooh, good on you Ally. I'm stil waiting for my Green Dreamytimes too. I'm like you-have never used pocket nappies before and I have been asking people similar questions ie. whether to use liners, boosters or not. :p
I like Spotlight too but I'm banned to go there for a little while...sob...

C- if you are interested in sewing your own, you can get kits and patterns from Gab at http://bubbaearth.com.au/ I'm thinking of getting the PUL cover kit and the pocket nappy pattern and see if I can make my own. But I have to wait a while as I've just won this on ebay (link to thread) http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=10897
and am waiting for 5 other nappies, so have to wait a while. I was going to order from Sandra today but might to wait a couple of weeks. But I'm seeing her next week at a nappycino so mght put the order in then.
Ally so glad you love your Greens. Try ebay their username is aussieclownfish. Have a look in their store to see if they have any going. They may put the last few up if they don't sell.
Thanks K. Good link. :) And what a cute nappy!! It's gorgeous!

Karena - Im so naughty LOL !
Ive ordered 10 more nappies including 5 dreamytimes !
Cmon i had to have a couple out away for the next babies right
They are getting their new range of nappies through soon so thats exciting also !!!
But after this purchase my next shall be a few of Sandras for sure as ive been saying i will for the last few weeks LOL but i just had to have more dreamytimes !!!! :D
Im not going to send us broke using disposables anymore but by buying endless amounts of pocket nappies LMAO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o
Ah-HA!!! So Ally, YOU are the reason there are no more dreamytimes?!!! I went to have a look today and they are sold out. Did you get the last of them? ;)
And I totally know what you mean about going broke on cloth nappies. I have to admit, I am an addict... and the baby isn't even born yet. :o

*insert evil laugh* mmmmwwwwwhhhhhaaaaa
Got you all suckered in don't I!!!!!!!!!!!!! hehehehe
They are so addictive I think I spend more on cloth than we did on sposies.
YOur spending spree on cloth beats mine Ally. I feel better now. Just have to tell Dh that I spent that much on one nappy!!!
If you are looking for a good night nappy try babybeehinds hemp honey or Very Baby Simple Nights. I rotate my dreamtimes with bb HH. Although the HH are an AIO (;)C) and I have mostly pockets I love these for night. I add an extra booster and it does Harry beautifully through the night. I use a wool soaker as a cover and it lasts him through the night.
I can't wait for the new Greens range they are going to have Thomas The Tank Engine and Bob The Builder in their funtimes.
But first I have order from Sandra.

cosmic - Try emailing them they may have some left ;) You can always tell you hubby that your excuse is that your not sure what ones will be right so you HAVE to have so many LOL
Karena - Ive spent WAIT FOR IT ....... $500 recently on all that i have bought
Oh dear when i worked that out it made me cringe & feel so guilty :(
Well once i have enough i shall stop until i save up some of my own pocket money & will then buy any i just want for the sake of them being cute or the likes with that least then it wont seem so bad !! Thats my excuse & im sticking to it !!!!
Yep im a bad mama cause i spent all our food money ON POCKET NAPPIES !!!
Hahahaha.
Oh thats so not funny but it is !!!!! :o

31-01-2006, 15:16
Well you beat me!!!!!!!!!!!! It is nice to just buy nappies that you want because they are cute or look good. that's my excuse for buying the one I did on ebay this morning. I don't even think I can put it on Harry, in case he gets it dirty :D:D:D how silly is that!!!!!!!!!

31-01-2006, 15:22
HAhahahahaha !
Thats why i freaked out over the dreamytimes im all like omg what if something happens to one or or what if it gets so well used before the next baby LOL !
Crazy
I wanted to get a candy pink dreamytimes but wasnt allowed :(
But thats ok i still got a purple :p
Harry can use it otherwise oh what a shame it can get packed away for my little girl when i have her LOL
You ladies crack me up :p And don't worry about costs yet, you have a long way to go before you match using disposables fulltime (check out the thread lower down on the page 'Costs of Using Cloth'). And the more you have, the less use each one will have so the longer they will last...for next bub and maybe beyond :D At least that's what I tell my DH!

Just a query if I may :)
It is microfleece I need to get to use as liners right? I went to lindcraft today to get some & the lady at the desk was adamant that its not a good idea to have it nect to bubs skin as its not a natural material
Should I ignore her & just get some?

RB she probably thought you meant microfibre not microfleece. Yes she's righ tmicrofibre shouldn't be next to skin as it draws all the moisture out and is quite bad for their skin. But microfleece is fine. If you can't find microfleece try polar fleece, works just as well.
Rainbowbrite
01-02-2006, 17:36
Thanks for that Karena :) Though i did specify not fibre, but fleece. Oh well, i'll go back tomorrow. BTW, can it be used as a booster also? If so what size should i cut it to?

H&B'sMum

I won't use microfleece as a booster as it repels wee not absorbs it. If you want to make boosters I suggest you get some hemp from Gab at http://bubbaearth.com.au/ and then sew them in squares for boosters. I got 2m hemp fleece and managed to make abotu 12 30cm by 30cm booster. Or just use some old terry flats.
the lady at the desk was adamant that its not a good idea to have it nect to bubs skin as its not a natural material
Some people just don't like having synthetic fibres next to their babies skin (I know of one lady who plans on using cotton nappies with no liners). Maybe that's where she was coming from? I see a lot of baby clothes made out of synthetic fibres so obviously a large proportion of the parenting world doesn't mind too much.
Evil spotlight -- :) they have a new range of micro fleece and polar fleece prints in their new vip catalogue
not to mention packs of 8 bibs for $9.95

I went out yesterday and bought some microfleece yesterday to make my own liners. got half a metre and it will make heaps of them. and bought some nappy flannel as well to make my own wipes as well.
