View Full Version : Wridgway Removals
Hi, I know this isn't the correct spot to post this thread, but I thought you guys may have used Wridgway Removals. My dad was in the air force and I know we had removalists as we used to get packed up and moved every 3-4 years.
Anyway, we are moving back to Sydney and Wridgways removals have provided us with a reasonable quote and I am hoping someone has some experience with them that they can share.
Thanks
Sharon

I am actually using wridgway removals next week. I haven't used them before, but i don't have to pay for it, as defence is paying for it.
Are they a good removal company? They are doing pre pack and up lift the same day which i am worried about as every other removal company has taken 2 days.
Jas - Glad to hear a positive about Wridgways. I also posted the same question on essential baby forum and got one really bad review.
Mummyof2 - for us they are prepacking one day and uplifting the next, I too thought this was the norm. Maybe they are trying to fit into your schedule? I'd ask why.
DH wants to use Grace removals because they moved us from Sydney to Melb. But Wridgways have been very helpful and I'd like to give them ago for our move back to Sydney. Would love to hear what anyone else says about them.

I asked them why yesterday when they rang, they said it is because we are 150km away from them... SO but them up in a hotel.
I am ringing toll that handle DHA removals, and asking them, as i don't think they will have time to do it in one day, and plus i have to check into a hotel near the airport that night, and PLUS i have two kids.. they will want to go to bed, not be up to all hours of the night waiting for the packers to finish. And i have an early flight in the morning.... Sorry if that doesn't make sense.
Mel - can you get DH to watch the packers while you and the girls get settled into your hotel?
I am now having flashbacks of when we used to get moved around when I was young.
You sound as if you are already stressed by the upcoming move. Goodluck. Hope it goes as smooth as possible.

Yeah getting alittle stressed. Just so much to do with so little time.
The hotel is in Sydney Airport, so it will take me 2 hours to get there. But i am ringing toll on Monday to get something else organised i think.

I've used Wridgeways once and never had a problem with them. Nothing was broken or scratched. I also found their customer service to be rather good. Unlike when we used Allied Pickfords, which charge you an arm and a leg and advertise themselves as "the careful movers". There was certainly nothing careful about them. We got them to pack our stuff up and so much was broken. Our furniture was basically ruined, it ended up with so many scratches over it and even some chunks of wood were removed. I think the lesson here is.... pay for insurance. Though this is the case, they are still obligated to a 'duty of care', which was not so in their case. Many times I contacted their management and they kept fobbing me off and didn't want to know about it. Extremely bad customer service. That's why I warn people about them now. Word of mouth is a powerful tool.

As stated in my previous post, i used Wridgeways for my move. I got my gear on Wednesday and Oh my God, it was a horrible!
1. They lost my coffee table
2. Most of my boxes were damaged
3. My Wall unit has a big clip in the corner
4. The girls dresser and bedside table were damaged!
The guys i had to deliver my gear were rude!
Thank god Toll transitions are replacing the stuff that were damaged, but i have never had anything broken before when moving!
Personally i wouldn't use Wridgeways again!
That is a bummer, sorry to hear your furniture and things damaged :( We used Allied Pickfords recently and they were great and very friendly and helpful too, as my DP was already in Perth and I had 2 small children with me, I would recommend them

That's horrible. Sounds like what I went through with Allied Pickfords. I'm glad you're getting it replaced. Allied Pickfords wouldn't budge and acknowledge that they didn't legally honour their 'duty of care'. In the past couple of days I was actually talking to a good friend of mine and she also used Wridgeways and said that she had a lot of boxes missing and still hasn't received them over a year later! That's shocking. I'm lucky I guess that I only had a few boxes for Wridgeways to deliver.
We also had lost & damaged items, when Wridgways delivered our stuff to Adelaide from NT. The guys who delivered it were rude & also damaged our lawn with the removalist truck, it took a while for them to compensate us & I felt like giving up lots of times :banghead: but luckily DH is not a pushover like me. It really sucks to see your belongings damaged or even worse to not see them again.

Hi Livsmummy, what did you do to get remuneration? It would be interesting to know.
