Hi there,

I have heard that babies stop 'chucking' after feeds once they're sitting by themselves. Is this true? What was everyone else's experience? My DS is 5 months old, is exclusively breastfed (no bottles at all) and still chucks a few times a day. Sometimes it's right after a feed, but other times it can be up to an hour afterwards. It doesn't seem to bother him, and for us it does create more washing, but I was wondering how much longer I can expect this to go on. I'm getting a little tired of the constant clothes changing (both DS and my clothes!)

Hi LibbyG

DS is 8 1/2 months and still a happy spewer. He is formula fed and will spew as you say right after a feed or some time later. As he is crawling everywhere I unfortunately find spew all over our carpet - it is ruined, luckily it is old.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but my DS does not look like stopping any time soon. I had hoped once we moved onto solids things would help but

I also hear you about being tired of the clothes changes.

My bubba is a chucker too! In fact I've just handed him to DH in tears because it's so hard being covered in spew all day and worrying that he might not be keeping enough milk down for his needs.

My friend's first baby did stop throwing up when he was sitting up, but her second is nearly one and is still a really chucky baby.:(

My baby has been a chucker on and off, but it's been more on for a while now, he's been growing really well so far but now I've started him on solids he seems to be even worse. He's only eating a very small amount, but then he throws up pumkin coloured milk everywhere afterwards!

ps - my baby is formula fed, and we go through so many clothes and bibs, it's crazy!!

Kimbo - did you have any trouble starting on solids? Did the :barf: get worse? Does your baby still gain weight well? Sorry for all the questions, my dr and chn says he's fine... But you know what it's like being a Mum, you just worry!
