View Full Version : New Bedtime?
We have DD in a bedtime routine that is working well for night, except she has just decided to start waking at 5am instead of 6am that she was waking at a week or so ago.
What I'm wondering is if she goes to bed an hour later at night does this mean that she'll sleep an hour later in the morning?
I'd rather put her to bed later in the night and wake later in the morning if that's the way things work because for some reason I can handle the late nights better than the early mornings.
Any suggestions would be great - thanks in advance
Hi
Sorry to say, but for us, no matter what time Andrew goes to bed, he's always up at the same time in the morning.
I have just gotten used to the early starts!
One day he'll be a sullen teenager who'll want to sleep all day long :D And then I'll be trying to drag him out of bed....you can't win!
We are the same- doesn't matter what time we put Daniel to bed - he still wakes up around the same time each day......if we put him to bed later we just end up robbing him of much needed nigh nighs:D

The same thing happened to us and we wanted to try a later bedtime too. Also bub is out to it by 6pm so we thought 7pm mihgt allow us to be a little more social esp during daylight savings!! Anyway, we have kind of tried a few times, but a) he still wakes at the same time and b) he is a big fat grump for that extra hour!! I do think it might work though if you did it gradually, like 10 minutes later every couple of night or something like that, so bub's body cklock has time to adjust.
Thanks for the quick replies!
I think I'll still give it a go and as Jembelina suggested I'll try it gradually... and looking at the time that means I have to go run her bath now.
Will try for a few days and let you know how I go.

My boys are the same they get up at 6.30 am every morning :) They sleep from 6.30 pm so I guess I can't complain. Even if the 4 year old does end up in our bed most nights, if hes goes to bed at 9pm he doesn't sleep any longer in the morning  Maybe work for you though, good luck !
