Hi Ladies,

I have been ttc since my second son was 4mths old so about 13mths having a few mths here and there break as dp is in the navy and works away alot. I have very irregular cycles, ranging from 20 days to 44 days etc and have no idea when or even IF i am ovulating. My question is, when going to the doc's can u just ask for Clomid? as i am under the impression it can help increase your chances of conceiving more quicker then naturally done. Could i just go to the doc and say that i have been ttc for 13mths with no luck and want to be put onto Clomid to help me conceive? is that poss?

Thanks Ladies, this will be a huge help.

 I wouldn't think so. They will probably want to do some tests to determine why your cycles are so irregular. You may have something like PCOS (don't quote me on that, I aint no doctor :p )?? and if so they might put you on Metformin or something like that first, then possibly put you on Clomid. I have a friend who was having really irregular cycles, about every 3 months, and they did an internal ultrasound and found out she has PCOS so she's been on Metformin in the hopes of conceiving.

Goodluck

It was actually nearly that easy for me HEHEHE.... no i had been apatient of my OBGYN since trying to concieve Tarleha, i went and saw here and said look its been 10mnths now and NOTHING has happened except 2 m/c. SHe wrote all this down in her book and i had already had BT done through GP which said hormones were fine, so she put me on the clomid not to make me ovulate but to increase the quality of the egg etc.
It really is up to you and the doctor to work out what is best for you and your body.

Good luck
xxoo

P.S. I am on my first round now at 50mg and am 6dpo so will let you know how i go.

U will need to see Gyno/FS to get clomid ur gp cant give it to u.
They will need to ran some tests first to check ur cycle and if indeed u are ovulating like grumpybum said u may have PCOS.
I have PCOS and wasnt ovualting for 12months of the 20 months we have been trying..
I went on meteformin which helped regulate my cycle and actually ovulate, So im now on clomid to help increase the quality of my eggs also.

I actually wasnt sure if my gp could give it to me as I did get from a OB/FS last time with DD after numerous test including a lap and dye and DP sperm count to make sure all was well.
I asked the gp other day and he looked it up, he can prescribe me he said. So this time as I know alls well already Ill just be going my GP if I dont succeed this month.

BUT as your cycles are a bit over the place I would personally get checked over first by a obgyn. Everything is probably fine but well worth the time to get checked over first by someone who is qualified to do so.
all the best
