Hi Ladies...I just joined today. I am originally from Perth but have been living in the USA going on 6 years now. I am pregnant with my second child and I am seeking a Pro VBAC OB/GYN in Perth, preferably south of the river. Also if anyone has some good feed back on the hospital you delivered at. I will be taking the public route.

TIA
Colette

Hi, I am with Dr Chris Nichols. He was my fertility specialist and is now my ob. He is private though. His office is in SJOG Murdoch and does delivery at either SJOG Murdoch or Attadale Hospital. Thought Chris is great. I have quite a number of friends who had Chris to deliver their babies and are all happy with him.

I went public for my first daughter, with Dr O'Donovan 6 years ago. But I heard he is now retired.

Cheers
Ingrid

My OB is Dr H Amira, he is great and delivers at SJOG Murdoch. :) He is SOR and very friendly, takes everything you are concerned about seriously and makes me feel very confident and relaxed.

Hi beautiful people!

Just a quick Question re: obstetricians in Perth.

I too am looking for an ob in Perth so If any of you can reccommend one i would be so grateful....

And also, have any of you had experience with Dr Tim Jeffery? I hear he is quite good?

I am new to Perth & have no mates or family here so am completely lost!

I would be so grateful for any advice!

Thanks so much:hugs:

Hiya Colette if you're going public I would not advise Osborne Park Maternity Hospital. I had a shocking birth there with little support and I have also met others with the same opinion.
I'm pretty sure that there's a thread about good Gyno's/Obs in Perth in the VBAC threads you may have to search back a bit. Good luck!

I understand Tim is excellent - so is Nick Chukkas (but very busy). I had Simon Turner, excellent but not great with soft approach, very matter of fact and straight forward but that works for me. Good luck:)

The public maternity ward at Armadale hospital is very supportive of VBAC's, the only one I have really come across so far. Give them a call and speak to them about booking in with one of their obs, I'm sure someone will be able to help you.

Good luck!

I had a successful VBAC with Dr Anna Holmes at Murdoch SJOG 10 weeks ago. She allowed me to have a VBAC even when other OBs wouldn't. She is very supportive of the concept. She is also new at the hospital (she delivered my 2year old via emergency C/S at Galliers Private Hospital in Armadale) so she doesn't book out as fast as some of the others at Murdoch. Also, as she is new to the hospital, her fees are much lower than all the other OBs there.

If you don't have private health insurance, and, re-reading your question, you want to go public, King Edward Memorial Hospital in Perth has the best equipment (wireless, waterproof monitoring).

I hear Tim Jeffery is very good.My ob was Adam Gubbay at SJOG Subi, he also practices at Mercy, I was extremely happy with him, although he is not pro VBAC.

If you want public, the only choice is KEMH. I had a VBAC there 11 weeks ago. They were excellent. Very supportive midwives and OB's. I have private cover but chose to go public as I wanted to be looked after by the midwives.
Private OB's SOR that I know are fully supportive of VBAC's are Chris Nichols, Chris Gunnell and Anna Holmes.
Best of Luck Alisa

Hello all. I have only journeyed with the public system - and can't fault it. Currently I have my appointments at the ante-natal clinic at Kaleeya Hospital. Downside is I believe I will get which ever Dr is on call on day of delivery, but realistically I've never had problems before, and the midwives do all the work anyway. The Dr is usually lucky to attend the birth. Kaleeya is SOR in East Freo. My sister went private and had hers at Attadale. She didn't complain about anything there, but I've heard some who didn't like the experience there.

I had Linda Wong. Her office is in Subiaco and she operates out of SJOG and What is the public hospital in Subi (Duh! memory lapse) I am now in NSW and pg with number 2 and would love to be able to go her again but no chance.

She was really laid back but on top of things IYKWIM. I always felt totally relaxed and as though she had everything in hand.

Cheers

i had Helen Clarke in Subiaco (north of river, only just tho), and met Linda Wong at the labour ward prior to labour when i had some problems - both of these ladies are EXCELLENT.
They are private tho.
