Clomid, how expensive is it?

Hi Ladies,

I'm just wondering is clomid expensive? I thought I read somewhere that it cost $300 a month... is that right?

Thought I'd ask here as I can't go and see my gyn for another month (I've just had back surgery & haven't been given the ok to TTC yet , I'm also not allowed to drive :banghead: ).

It depends wher u get it from.
Ive been on it for 3 months and got my script filled at the hospital and it costed $4.80 thats with a concession.
But today i decided to get my new script filled at the chemist and it costed me $40 for 15 tablets. so yeah its not overly expensive

Do you have to pay for monitoring costs on top of the script price?

I don't have a concession card so guessing it's going to be a little bit more for my script :rolleyes: .

Yes, you should be monitored on clomid
either or both scan and bt's

when on the lower dose of clomid it is alot cheaper as one packet does 2 cycles

I was on 50mg as there is only 5 tablets it did one circle.
IM now gunna start 100mg when AF decides to arrive.
Im also not getting monitored

Do you have an idea of the monitoring cost? Just a ball park figure?

When I saw gyn in April before I had the back surgery she said I'd go on the 10mg dose and asked if I wanted to get a BT done or Temp every month. She didn't mention scans or costs.

I just need an idea so I don't get a nasty shock like the one in April when I had the laproscopy, gyn quoted gap at $200, day before surgery gap increased to $500 that had to be paid then and there.

hmm ok well i have bloodtests done every circle and i dont pay anything so im really not sure..
10mg is a very small dose ive never heard of anyone having that low.

When I last saw gyn she printed out a whole heap of info but when I told her I'd decided to have the back surgery she took it all back. I thought it said 10mg maybe it was higher.

The plan was to start on the lower mg for 3 months, after 3 months if I wasn't pg she was going to increase the dose & start artificail insemination (sorry don't know the abbreviation for it).

Tablets I got came in 50mgs, and there was 10 in each box. (only use 5 each cycle cos ur only on them for 5 days)

From memory it cost me $30-$40 and thats full price.

Also, theres a cheaper generic brand that does the same job.

My blood tests cost nothing because I had them done at the hossy, and my scans were also doen at the hossy and cost nothing.

Doctor only monitored me by blood tests while on clomid though.


I had a lap done early this year and was hit with huge pricing aswell. Monitoring your cycle is nothing like the cost of a lap or anything.

I agree about the 10mg dosage being small. I dont think they even come that small?

Maybe it said 100mg? I think 50 is the minimum :thumbsup:

Sounds like it maybe 50mg not 10mg. I wish she'd let me keep the paper work to read through.

Ive only got 5 tablets in each box thou...

Yeah u may have got the 10mg wrong ive known ladies to take 25mg, i thought that is the lowest u could take but i might be wrong...
I was on 50mg for 3 months and currently waiting on a late AF to show so i can take the 100mg.

When I was first told about Clomid I was under the impression ti was going to be about $300 as well. Thats what Id heard, so I went to the chemist preparing myself. lol

No more clomid for me though.

I did 9 or so cycles of Clomid. I ovulated.. kinda.. but nothing came of it.

Ive also got endo, and DH has major sperm problems so its IVF for us.

Our first appointment is this Tuesday coming! Im so nervous!

Im on Serophene, (Serophene and Clomid are brand names for the drug clomiphene) So not sure if that is the cheaper alternative?
Anyhow it says on the box full price $40.30.
I got with concession at $29.70.

I fell first cycle 50mg day 5-9.
Am currently on tww for another one and just done first cycle 50mg again.

I did get it wrong it's 50mg days 5-9 for 3 months. Although gyn may change dose after round 1.

25mg is the lowest dose according to the instruction sheet she gave me today.

There's also no monitoring costs other than the BT, which I think will get bulk billed (I've never paid for a BT yet). Which is a relief :)
