It never occurred to me that when there is a product, there is always a GENERIC brand (ie, same but cheaper). I have found at least 3 brands similar/same as Maybe Baby, but more suitable for a cheaper budget.
No, I'm not advertising or anything here - I just thought it may be of some interest to anyone whose purse strings are a similar length to mine and just couldn't quite fork out $70/$80 for a Maybe Baby.

There are also cheap OPK's in bulk, HPT's in bulk and baby doppler machines.

I get their okps off ebay!!!!! I really like their website as they have heaps of info on vitamins and which ones are best to take when. It's one of my favs.
Didn't know about the maybe baby's though. Might have to check that out!!!!!!

I normally get the Coles Fortel brand for the OPK's. You just drop the urine into a sample well - dont have to worry about spilling it everywhere  (I've done that a few times...)
I will let you know when I get my generic Maybe Baby (its called a Lady Q) about how it goes.

Okay - I got it. I dont know if its just cause my body is TOTALLY out of WHACK right now - but the cheaper brand seems useless. I haven't seen ANYTHING except for little bubbles... Perhaps you get what you pay for in this instance?

oh! if only i'd seen this earlier! a doppler for just $100?! & it's really nice looking! ;) i sooooo want it... but i only have less than 3 months to go...
The dopplers are great. I've been seeing our GP at a Royal Flying Doctors Clinic on a nearby station every other month, obs on the alternate month, and they don't have a doppler. Perhaps I should donate one to our clinic for that price!

i just thought i'd let you know:
i went into kmart today & bought a doppler for only $40!!! i tried it as soon as i got home (i didn't really believe it'd work! lol) & it was good! the baby's heart beat was a little faint, but i could hear it! i think it was only faint coz i didn't bother moving the sensor too much to find it - the sensor was too loud everytime i touched it! anyway, i heard the kicks REALLY loudly, so i'm sure if i bothered i could have gotten a louder heartbeat! :)
it also comes with TWO sets of headphones with a double-jack so u AND someone else can listen (i'm sure you could plug speakers in instead if you wanted)! it also has a cord to plug into your PC to record the sounds. i haven't tested that part yet as i don't think it comes with any software to do it (there's an instructional CD, tho - so there could be something on there, but i doubt it) & i don't have any recording software that i'm aware of.

I never got the ferning pattern from a maybe baby and used to complain about the product all the time. Had to laugh when I found out I had PCO and didn't ovulate.
I'm sure that the generic brands are just as good.
