OK DH & I are going to the movies tomorrow....hopefully :o We were going to leave MJ with my mum while we went to see Harry Potter, but I don't know if I can do it. I'm so nervous. It will be from about 11am. Movie starts at 12.30. The thing is, its MJs sleep time & I know how bad she gets if she doesn't go to sleep when she's tired.
I don't know what to do. I would love to go just DH & I, but at the same time I don't want to. Part of me says to just do it & she'll be fine. Then i'm thinking, what if, instead, we get my mum up here today & we go to the movies tonight after we put MJ to bed. I just don't know what to do.
HELP :o

Does MJ sleep in her pram see if your mum can take her for a walk so she will doze off and have a nap of some sort.
To be honest i am sure she will be fine, shes with your mum so enjoy yourself :) If you feel you cant maybe its best to get your mum to come over when shes asleep so that way when she wakes shes only without you for a little while, otherwise go the evening stint
Good luck

Oh thank god I'm not the only one like this :o :D
We're all like that at first. We worry ourselves sick, don't enjoy our time out and rush home as quickly as possible, only to find out that they barely even noticed we were gone.
Just leave your phone on silent so your mum can call you if she needs to, but she won't.
Im sure she will be fine with your mum. Do you trust your Mum?
I leave Bailey with my Mum alot and it is scary the first time but my mum raised me so Im sure she is capable of looking after my son.
I say, take the plunge, go out and enjoy yourself! You deserve it! And I bet MJ will be fine and before you know it youll be going to the movies every week with DH!!!:D

She won't sleep anywhere other than the car or her bed & my mum doesn't drive. I think I will bite the bulllet & go. Its only a few hours, she does love my mum. She has stayed with her for an hour before while I went to the drs.
I will put her toys in that she sleeps with incase she wants to have a rest. I know that mum will lay down with her if she wants it.
I can't believe i'm going out without her :o I'm so used to just taking her everywhere, movies were always timed around feeds but seeing as she doesn't bf anymore makes it hard.
I know what you mean about the not sleeping anywhere but own bed thing. My DS will sleep at my place or my parents but he wont sleep in a portacot now, which makes it hard if we go out to friends houses. This has only happened since I put him in a bed.
Back to topic, sorry!!!
If MJ loves you mum Im sure she will be fine! And if you feel really worried, as you said, get your mum over to your place.
But IMO its a good thing to get her used to going to your mums as when next bub comes along you may need her to spend some time with your mum and at least this way she will be used to it!
Enjoy your movies time and alone time with DH, I bet youll come back on here saying you had a ball!!!:hugs:
And all this worry just shows how much of a caring mother you are...you are wonderful RB!

Aww, thanks so much Baileys Mummy :hugs: :o
I will let you all know how we go. It will be nice to be able to watch a movie uninterupted for a change. As much as MJ loves movies, she still hasn't mastered using a quiet voice :p
I haven't told MJ yet, but mum is excited. She will have the harness & stroller to go for a walk & keep her busy. Will put lots of DVD's in too.
you could go to the next movie so that she can sleep at home before you drop her off at your mums.

Go! And have a good time  I think leaving your phone on silent is a good idea, that way you have the reassurance of knowing that your mum can call you if she needs to - but I'll be she won't :)
I'm lucky in that Sarah has always had a great bond with my sister - She's just started taking Sarah out on little day trips without me. I was really worried the first few times, but I really appreciate the time out now - and I know that Sarah will always come home nice and tired. Though usually also in need of a good bath!
Have a great time seeing Harry Potter. It looks like it's going to be an exciting movie!

Can't go to any other session. Have midwives in the morning & this is the only way we'll be home in time for dinner.
I'm so excited now :smiliedance:

I remember how hard it was leaving Boof for the first time with my mum. My mum nearly had to push me out the door lol.
Its hard to do but just dont make a fuss when you leave ... It can make things worse i have found but then maybe she wont even stress !
We tend to stress more than they do lol !

I do this too! On our anniversary after Oliver we went out for 2 whole hours! It took half an hour each way to the resturant, we didnt even have desert we were so worried and wanted to get back for him!
Try to relax and enjoy yourself. :) Take your phone and call up every hour if you need too! :)
I would go in a flash!?! The only reason I haven't been to the movies, or anywhere else besides work really is because I feel guilty leaving Layla with mom. Mom looks after her now that I work so I figure she deserves a break. Go for it and enjoy.

Yes - go!
You might worry, but when you get home and everything is fine, you'll hopefully feel better about it the next time you want to do it.
Just enjoy the movie. MJ will be fine.

I would go, RB - sure it's hard the first couple of times you leave them (my DD has only been babysat a handful of times - always by my mum except for once by a professional babysitter so I kinda know how you feel), but it's only for a couple of hours, and I'm sure she'll be just fine with your mum.
She will go to sleep eventually, and sometimes Grandma's have wonderful sleep-inducing qualities.;)
The last time I went out without her, I was just about to leave mum's place and I had second thoughts, so asked her if she wanted to come home with mummy - the answer - a resounding "NO - stay with Grandma!!"
Have a lovely time at the movies.:)
