HELP! I'm five weeks pregnant and am trying to find a good ob in North Brissy. I've tried Dr Robert Watson (Booked out all of Sept & into oct!), Dr Christopher Price (booked out too!):( . Then I tried Dr Tuicolo and got straight in. But now I'm worried that he might not be any good b/c I got in so easily!!!:( Please can anyone help me? I had a really bad labour experience last time and don't want to go through that again!! Has anyone had him and had any good or bad experiences!?!

A friend of mine had Dr Tuicolo as an obstetrician. She did not find him helpful when her pregnancy became complicated. She delivered in Melbourne due to complications with the baby. Dr Tuicolo did not support or contact her before or after she delivered and to date still hasn't. He baby died. In short if you have a straight forward pregnancy then he is ok, but if you encounter problems he will palm you off. My advice is to seek Dr Peter Ganter in Wickham Terrace, she has been very happy with his service and he is young and up to date with issues surrounding obstetrics or gynaecology as well as fertility issues.

Hi, I don't want to offend you or diminish your friends loss, however, I just wanted to say that I have had Dr Tuicolo as my Gyn/OB since 2003 and have always found him to be supportive and compassionate.
We have had complications with our pregnancies over the years and Dr Tuicolo helped us through the difficult times and also helped us conceive and deliver our healthy beautiful daughter.
We will be going back to Dr Tuicolo when we fall pregnant again, hopefully at the end of this year.
Hi Busylizzy,
Dr Tuicolo is currently my OB for my 2nd Bub. He was my OB for my DD born Sept 04 and also performed my D&C for my miscarriage last year. I have found him to be great and must admit the fact that I got straight in also threw me a bit.
The other doctors do a lot with IVF hence they are not as easy to get into.
I had trouble with labour last time and he was great. very calm and gave me the options. I would trust him with anything.
Don't panic, make sure you tell him what happened last time so he is aware of the problems you had and he will be fine. You have been through this before so you'll know what areas you need to cover in any discussions with him.
Cheers,
Carol

Thanks for all your advice and comments guys. I've decided to go with Dr Doug Keeping b/c I've read so many great posts about him. My last labour wasn't without complications so I'm thinking about having an elective c/s this time round & really want the best. Thanks again.:)

I am the lady who's baby passed away!
I would never recommend vila to a single pregnant lady!
He knew how serious my child's health condition was, and when i was told i had to go to Melbourne to deliver, his advice to me was " fly to melbourne, deliver and leave your baby there! " Quote on quote!
Does that seem like a considerate Dr to you?
He never once got in touch with the hospital in melbourne, or sent any of my notes to them. An to this day has never been in touch with us since we arrived back home, not even for my 6 week check. I had to go to my own gp who was very shocked to hear of my treatment, But also pointed out that im not the first lady to complain about vila Tuicolo!!!
My advice would be to avoid him like the plague! If you are not sure then trust your gut feeling and find another obstertrician!
We are now trying for another child, and our Obstertricain is Dr Peter Ganter
Watkins Medical Centre Wickham Terrace, Brisbane.
I have found him to be caring, straight to the point, and is totally honest...
Busylizzy do yourself a favour and look else where!

Dr Tuicolo delivered my daughter in March 2005 and I would highly recommend him.
I had gestational diabetes while I was pregnant and found Dr Tuicolo both supportive and knowledgable. With his help I managed the gestational diabetes through diet and exercise ... and I delivered a 6pd 14 baby ... a good size for a mum with gestational diabetes.
I had a relatively long labour and eventually required a vacuum extraction to deliver. Dr Tuicolo decided on this intervention after taking my wishes into account.
I found Dr Tuicolo's medical ability first class and his bed side manner was humorous, considerate and reassuring ... which suited me perfectly.
I think it is important to remember that everyone's experience is different and that we all respond to people differently. Know what it is you need and then shop around until you find a doctor that can respond to those needs and that you feel comfortable with.
I hope anyone reading this thread will have the confidence and opportunity to form their own opinion of Dr Tuicolo and not rely completely on what's been written here.
I would recommend Dr Tuicolo to anyone ... and I will be returning to him when I am fortunate enough to be expecting again.

Pommy - I am so sorry for what you went through and my heart goes out to you. Nobody should have to go through such a horrible ordeal and then on top of that to be shown such little compassion... I'm just really sorry. I send you a *huge hug* and wish you all the best for the future.
Liz.
