HELP! I'm five weeks pregnant and am trying to find a good ob in North Brissy. I've tried Dr Robert Watson (Booked out all of Sept & into oct!), Dr Christopher Price (booked out too!). Then I tried Dr Tuicolo and got straight in. But now I'm worried that he might not be any good b/c I got in so easily!!! Please can anyone help me? I had a really bad labour experience last time and don't want to go through that again!! Has anyone had him and had any good or bad experiences!?!

As far as I know he has a great reputation. All the Northwest Obs do. It is just a matter of what Ob suits you best. One Ob that my friend had was not my cup of tea but he was great for her. It depends on what you want from your doctor too. Some people want chatty doctors others want low fuss doctors. What is great for one woman is very different for another.
Also, some appear 'more popular' and 'harder to get into' as some of these Obs may have smaller books which is why seem harder to get into (for example Ob A may have a books fitting 30 clients, Ob B may have books fitting 15 clients per month thus he books out quicker. He is not necessarily more popular or better) as this is if they deal with other things (some are infertility specialists and so forth). For example; Bob Watson also deals with clients who have gone through that process with him and thus he will have a lot of existing clients and follow on with the continuity. Same with some of the others. Plus, some go away on leave and will not take any bookings at a certain time of the month. For example, I wanted to get into an Ob at the Wesley, but he was unavailable when my baby was due, so he did not take the booking. That is another reason too. Also, you are only 5 weeks, so that would explain why you got in quick too. That is pretty early to get in as well.:)

Thanks Milly :). I have heard that North West is suppose to be pretty good, but now I'm leaning towards Dr Doug Keeping b/c I've read so many great post recommendations. It means I'll have to drive further to see him and to hospital when I have the baby but I think I'm willing to do that for a good OB.

Hi Busy Lizzy, Dr Tuicolo is fantastic. He has helped my through miscarriages and then trying to conceive again and we have just had a beautiful baby girl in Dec 05. Honestly, I thought the same as he was one of the only available Ob's when I first got onto him back in 2003, so I called the NW maternity ward to ask their opinion of him and they love him!
So many people I know have started out with other Ob's to find they are not their cup of tea and have switched to Dr Tuicolo - he is Fijian, mild mannered, supportive, and has a sense of humour. We found him great. His fees are also lower than most of the other Ob's. I really don't think you could go wrong. It can't hurt to go and see him for one visit and then if you don't like him, switch.
I would trust any advice he would give me as he is not pro ceasar (as some of them are). He will do what is best for you and bub.
Anyway, should go, if you want more info, you can email me.
