Hello,

Can anyone give me any tips/advice or just reassurance!

Em is now 7 months old and has never slept through. We did what worked for the first 6 months of her life which was rocking and/or bf to sleep. We then went overseas and she was so unsettled we ended up co-sleeping. We have managed to knock the co-sleeping on the head as well as the rocking, and for a few days we were able to put her down on her side, pat her bottom and she would drift off. Today its been a bit more difficult as she has been fighting it but I managed to get her off by shh'ing and stroking her face.

Is there anything you think that might help take her that next step, so no settling techniques are needed, or are we almost there!!?? She was up a couple of times last night but the nights before she was only up very briefly once at around 4ish.

Thanks :)

Hi Clairet

Sounds to me like you are almost there:D and what a fantastic job you've done. I cant really think of anything else I'd say just carry on doing what you are doing. It sounds like she is learning how to self settle and once she has got it sussed your laughing. I suppose my biggest tip is once they are in their room for the night dont take them out of it however tempting it is.

You have scared me a bit though
We then went overseas and she was so unsettled we ended up co-sleeping.-I'm off to the UK in April my DD will be 8 months by then, any tips??:D

Cheers

Make sure you book bassinet seats on all long flights if possible ! I'm just back from USA with my kids, now I gotta sleep chat again :)

Hey Manxie

Defs check you have bassinets booked - they were fantastic esp as Emily slept for most of the flight. Must be the engine noise and vibrations!

Our trip was also to the UK but I think you should be fine. We went back in Nov when Emily was only 4 months old and she was still being rocked/breastfed to sleep. It was sooo cold that we ended up co-sleeping to keep warm and I think that is where it all started. We also moved house the week after we got back so that didn't help!

I have loads of mates who have done the trip - bub gets a bit mixed up the time difference but after a few days they sort themselves out...we just did her boob, bath, book, bed routine at the new 'bedtime' and she seemd to get it.

Have fun!
