View Full Version : Stubborn thrush
I just wanted to know if there are any other ladies that have suffered with thrush the whole pregnancy?? the only thing that gives any kind of relief is canestan cream which i have been using often for the itch:( , has anyone else had to use over the counter cream long term while preg??
Before you post, yes i have tried natural yoghurt and even went to a naturopath, did the diet thing, loads of water, inner health plus, but no luck
otherwise i am welcome to new suggestions:)
yip i've had thrush this whole pregnancy, i've given up in treating it at the mo, its not causing me any problems e.g no itching or soreness at the mo, i'll only treat it when that happens (touch wood I get no itching or soreness:fingerscrossed: ), as far as I know some people are prone to it during pregnancy and quite often it won't go away till after bubs,
hi gizmo
funny we are both due oct with the same problem! but this thrush business ain't that funny!!
I'm glad u don't get the itch that often, i wish i could say the same about me.
can't wait for oct!
this has also been on my mind, i wonder if thrush is more likely to occur when carry a girl???

You can count me in here too.
I am the sam ei will only treat mine with cream ( iam using nilstat) externally only when it is itchy and sore.
I was just wondering do you use the cream internally???
hmmm now that i've mentioned that i'm not itching, i'm itchy lol, grrrrrrrrrr
yeah roll on Oct, i'm going to douse myself in canesten once bub arrives lol, get rid of it once and for all,
the anoying thing is that we can't use the application all the way up at the mo which means that not all the thrush is getting it, which means that we're just going to get it back 10 seconds later :banghead:
i have used the applicator with 3 cream treatments, but now i use it externally only. I also think it didn't work properly coz i didn't use it all the way.
I wouldn't wish thrush on my worse enemy, but i'm glad i'm not the only one.

I swear by aloe vera (straight from the plant put down there):o and drinking aloe vera juice twice a day and green tea the rest of the day.

Can i just ask a question.
Do you all get a lot more discharge???????:o :o
shorty: yes tons of discharge, alot more than preg with dd.
thanks for the tip oscar mum, aloe vera is one thing i haven't tried yet.
henrygirl: dh is convinced we are having a boy coz of the same reason, i have had a few minor discomforts during this preg and a blissful preg with dd:)
Avkel, how long did you try the diet for? Was it a proper anti-candida diet? Are you still steering clear of sugar, processed foods etc??
You poor girls - you have my sympathy. I haven't suffered with thrush for years but still suffer with candida anyway - my naturopath is about to put me back on the diet.
OMG  I've got an itch just talking about it.
some more natural options include a peeled clove of garlic inside you (unfortunalty doesn't come with a string) and some tea tree oil in your bath.
Fungas loves warm moist places and I found I was alot more of both when pg (too much info I know). I found wearing a pad whilst you are treating helps draw alot of moisture away. Make sure you do the full treatment if its more than one day and also consider the fact that your dp might be passing it back to you.
Theres some food for thought, I would consider going back to the dr if i were you.

hehe lol i had thrush my entire pregnancy with my last and had twin boys ;)
I also had it on and off with my first pregnancy and had a boy too.
My OB told me to use Nilstat cream and when it was gone then use some AciJel. I can't say it worked for me for more than a day but i guess it's worth a try??
GL it's horrible to have constant thrush, after i gave birth it went thank goodness!!

Hey guys,
I have really bad thrush at the moment, the discharge is a funny colour too TMI sorry! - did anyone else get this? I never get thrush usually and on the odd occasion that I do its never been like this. I'm waking up in the middle of the night with the itching!
Bit worried about the colour - can that mean that its more infected?
so glad that I'm not the only one with this!!

The only thing that worked for me while I was pregnant was white vinegar diluted in water. Gave instant relief...

Hey Missie Mack
so how much of the white vinegar did you use?
I used a pessary (the ob said it was ok) last week but got some bleeding - which apparently was to be expected but was sore and even more unpleasant than the thrush that is still here :)
nanny I know how you feel i've had this for three weeks now and I'm only 9 weeks preggers! not much love going on in this house
so hoping to have a break from it soon!
well hope at least the itch dies down for us all!
I have been blessed with no morning sickness but thrush is just a bit rude and unnecessary I have to say - lol!

I started taking 'inner health' and my thrush has been gone ever since. It is available from your chemist, and is good to take all the time. :)

Well I finished off the 6 day treatment and also did some things recommended by a friend, such as wearing skirts instead of pants, not washing with any soap just water, and changing my underwear atleast "twice" a day. & thankfully Ive had a good couple of days!! It seems to be finally going!! I also bought the thrush cream to use externally but havent needed to use it yet... :yelclap: Oh its been such a relief. I hope many of you kick it in the butt also!! :hugs:
