Ok this is getting ridiculous !
I have a very cranky baby on my hands through the day because he refuses to sleep !
Im going nuts !!!!!!
The tantrums are getting worse from him being so tired & now im starting to get to the point of wanting to throw one everytime he does too LOL !
If he was sleeping say 12hrs at nite i wouldnt care but of late he is in bed around 7pm but wont fall asleep until 8pm & then wakes at least twice through the nite for around 30mins & plays auuugh ! Then wakes at around 5am im going slightly insane especially as i dont know what he going to do next ! So he is getting roughly 9hrs if not less when he plays through the nite etc.
He is so tired he can hardly keep his eyes open during the day yet wont sleep no matter what i try !!!
Honestly i think i need some valium ! :(
Please tell me this is just a stage & to keep doing what im doing & it will come good !
PLEASE !!!

Hi Ally,
I am hoping it is a stage too.. Going through a similar thing here and about to pull my hair out.. The screaming is driving me up the wall....
My DS has decided that, after sleeping through for about 2 months, it is now time to start waking through the night for a feed... If he was going straight back to sleep, I guess I could handle it but I then have to spend 30-40 minutes putting him back to sleep... Also getting him to sleep is a nightmare, last night 1.5 hours of rocking and shushing while he screamed, just to get him to sleep... It all started here while the first too was cutting but seems to be getting worse... All naps need to be rocked to sleep and then will only last about 30 mnutes...
Hoping this settles soon... Good luck Ally
Ally, don't worry, it is definatly a stage.
My DS went thru a similar thing...call me a mean mummy, but after a few days of dealing with him screaming and crying and me rocking him, singing to him, going for walks and drives, and anything else I could think of, I just decided that I wold put him in his cot at his normal sleep times thru the day and leave him there. He screamed for ages the first time I did it, but he eventually went to sleep...and so did I.
The one thing that would calm him down a little was playing in his jolly jumper...he loved that thing til he was almost 12mths old...he would happily play in there til he was just too tired to stay awake any longer, then he would fall asleep...I often turned my back for a few seconds and he would be asleep when I turned around again, so I would have to try and get him out without waking him coz if I did he wouldn't go back to sleep.
Hopefully DD skips this stage...she is only 10 weeks old now....

Hi Ally,
I remember this with my first born too at about 8-9 mths. I was beside myself with frustration and soooo tired from it all. I was at the MCHN and when I mentioned this, through teary eyes, she set me up for an appointment at the Queen Elizabeth centre here in Melbourne. I was unable to see the situation in context and was so releived that she took this out of my hands for me. I spent a day there and not only did they help both myself and my son to understand sleep cycles, they also spent an intensive few hours discussing my wellbeing. It's not always about the crying baby at these centres, it is also about empowering a frazzled mother to gain some control and often regain lost confidence. If you have a similar centre in Sydney, it may be worth looking into. A bit of research can't hurt anyway. All the best.

Thanks everyone for your support !
Got him to have a nap around 9am still took till 10am to get him off but it wasnt as stressful which was a bonus ! So i then made a deal with him that i wouldnt put him down for an afternoon nap even though by 4pm he was a cranky baby ! So i took his mind off it by putting him in his fav place ! THE BATH LOL ! hehehe so he sat in there playing & having a cool down then when he was ready he got out & had his dinner round 5pm & was having a bottle at 6pm & was in bed by 6.30pm !
He has gone off tonite no problems but i think thats from not sleeping yesterday then being up at 5am again & having only one nap today LOL !
Oh well who knows what tomorrow will bring
