Hi all,
I need advice, hopefully tonight. I have been off of bcp since 14 May and I got my first AF on 21 June, I am now on cd 20 and have been testing twice a day with OPK since cd 10.
Up until now I have never had a second line on the opk until today. But according to the test it is still negative. I tested at 2pm today and got a second line that is just under half the colour of the control. Then I tested at 5pm and it was about half the colour of the control line and it is definately darker than the 2pm test but not even close to the control line.
I plan on testing at 9.30pm (but don't expect it to be positive then either) and if it is then we will bd tonight. If it isn't I will wait until morning to test and go from there.
My aim is to get as close to O as possible without missing out on O completely.
Is it possible to have all of my surge while I am sleeping and wake in the morning to do a test and it be negative?
Also I know that you aren't supposed to use first morning urine but in this case would it make a difference or should I just use the next urine sample (2hrs later)?
I need advice girls. I don't want to miss my surge and it be to late but I don't want to dtd too early either. HELP HELP HElLP!!!

I'd BD tonight anyway. Better be on the safe side.
Are you observing CM? And charting? If you have fertile CM then the spermies will survive couple days at least. If you are charting you'll be able to pinpoint when you did ovulate (unfortunately not before)
It is possible to miss the surge... sometimes it doesnt last longer than a couple hours so if it happens over night then you wont know.
Good luck! :wizard:

Hi Fluffball - thanks for replying. I am going a little nutty atm and needed some reasurrance.
I have been charting my cm and my temps. My cm was on the weekend more favourable for O than now. I actually had a little ewcm on Saturday and then watery cm and now it is creamy again but a little more of it.
The temps I'm not really relying on as I get up in the mornings to take dd#2 to the toilet at about 5am and then we go back to bed until about 6am, so I dont' think that they are very accurate.
So if my surge is building it is more likely that it will become positive sometime overnight?
Sounds like you are definitely about to O - I found that when I was using OPK's that they used to start off as feint lines and get darker over a 24 hour period or so until I got a +. So I reckon you should get busy ... :p
Sending you loads of baby dust :wizard:

Its hard to tell...every woman is different (and even cycles can be different). I got my first + opk a couple of days ago and I had several days of faint lines before it went positive, so altho its possible that it may go positive overnight, its very possible it wont. However, from everything Ive read, most women will surge in the morning, not overnight, and as it takes about 4 hours for the hormone to hit your urine, its best that you test late morning rather than with fmu. My guess is that you are safe, but dont be mad at me IF you do surge overnight! :) Good luck!

Oh thankyou everyone for getting back to me.
Plumptobump - thankyou as it was pretty much what I needed to hear.
I didn't test my fmu however I did test at about 9am and it was completely negative no lines at all. My test at 2 and 5pm (I know I am becoming a poasa!) were very similar to the ones from the day before.
So we decided to wait to see if I get a positive tommorrow or tonight and then do our bding.
plumptobump - can I ask what time you tested to get your positive, how many times that day you tested and also how many days of fade ins did you have before you got your +opk?

mummasbubbas, I think I had about 2-3 days of lines (about 50% of the control line) before it went positive. ..I might have had more but the tests only arrived in the mail and I started testing that day. They were + at about 10.30am and 2pm. The one I took at about 10pm was starting to fade, altho still dark. I didnt even really realise it was positve because it was only the first part of the test line that was as dark as the control line. Anyway, the only thing is, sometimes you will ovulate the day you get your +, so if you think you are getting close (ewcm, etc), I would bd in case. If you arent sure, try and get a bd in every 36 hours.....Hope that helps some?? Good luck! :)

plumptobump - thankyou so much I got up this morning thinking that I may have stuffed our chances.
I will wait to see what today is like and then we will bd tonight for sure. I have pcos also and my GP won't prescribe it until September as he wants to wait and see.
First dd#1 was conceived via injectables,5th iui and metformin (which I think made all the difference). DD#2 was conceived naturally. SO I guess that is what he is going on ' you did once by yourself see if you can do it again' type thing.
I really hope that I see a positive today or I know that I will thinking that my body is going to revert to the old way it is used to thinging. I hope that this is not annovulatory cycle.
Fingers crossed for me.

I can COMPLETELY relate to the frustrating cycles! I have taken probably 100 opks and never got close to a + until this last one (altho I didnt use them on my last 2 cycles and I ovulated in those)...its the most annoying thing knowing that your body is just not functioning the way its supposed to! Are you back on the Metformin?? As soon as I went on it, I got my cycles on my own and am ovulating, so might be worth gettting on it again if you're not already? Anyway, let me know how your opk looks today! :)

no I'm not on metformin my gp won't put me on until September if things aren't working properly.....a bit frustrating but I really don't want to go through the infertility issues again if I can help it - lots of travelling (with two kids), lots of tests, and lots of money. So I am trying to solve me issues with my GP if he co operates. September seems so long away.
My sister and I have done research and we looked on the pcosaa and it mentioned GOATS RUE which is the natural herb similar to metformin. So we ordered it for her as she is struggling with her weight. Since I dont' have a weight issue, I think my gp is reluctant. But I will see how she goes with it as she isn't on the bcps and if I have no success at O than I will maybe give it ago.
I am having pains in my lower back, so hopefully today is the day. I will let you know what happens.
