Hi there,
When my little one stopped moving after a very small car accident - it was more of a car bump. Any way I went to hospital as advised by my dr after I noticed I hadn't felt any movements. I was instructed to have some ice. The coldness wakes them up. If that failed then I was told to eat a cherry ripe the sugar makes them a little hypo but it gets them moving and thats the main thing.
Hope that helps get your little one moving

Hi There,
I can't remember exactly, but I think that if baby moves less than 10 times in a 24hr period, that you should contact the hospital you are delivering at, or at least your gp. When I was pregnant with Charlotte (6mo) I never noticed how much she moved during the day because I was so busy at work. It worried me a lot, but she made up for it when I got home! So maybe your lovely country drive made you so relaxed that the baby relaxed too and just enjoyed the peace :p . Babies do sleep whilst they're in your tummy too, so they could have been asleep.
But if you have even the slightest concern, just ring the hospital. They'll probably get you to go in and have the baby monitered for an hour, just to make sure everything's ok. That's what my hospital did and they didn't make me feel silly for calling and being a worry wart!
Good luck and let us know how you go.

Hello
I would try to trend towards not worrying if you can.
These little bubbies are very funny - they do things in an almost set pattern and then whamo change it all again.
Great advice about the ice - although this works best a bit down the track when they get bigger.
The sugar is the best trick.
Sit yourself down to a nice big 'medicinal' bowl of ice-cream and chocolate topping - this should get the two tricks working together. Maybe even a cup of coffee (I have one a day when preggie as this apparently doesn't hurt bubbie ( and real coffee is much better than instant).
Good luck and enjoy!

Hi!
During my pregnancy I rang my Obstetrician when I was at work in a panic that I hadn't felt lil bub move for a long while. She suggested that I get a cold drink of juice or water and lie down somewhere quiet and really try and feel the baby. She said he may have been having a sluggish day and that if I concentrate I will probably feel him move. Relax and see how you go! I think I lay there for about 15 minutes (yep, at work) and concentrated on my breathing and felt little movements - but that was good enough for me!
I'm sure your baby is just having a nice long rest.. lucky lil thing..
Hi newbie!
I started to worry when 18 weeks came and went and I hadn't started to feel anything but after a visit to the midwife and listening to my baby's heart beat I felt much better. Now just about as soon as I lay on the bed junior starts dancing, I find that if I lie on my right side I get a lot more action but that's just me. I'd try a sugary drink maybe red cordial with lots of ice and have a lie down if you still feel nothing, I'd go to the doctor just for peace of mind, I'm sure everything's fine!
We got back from a holiday in Italy a month ago (I'm now 31 weeks), but while we were away I discovered that any time I ate gelati the baby would start kicking around like a crazed footballer. :) Since we've been back I've found that ice-cream or a glass of really cold milk with strawberry Quik is nearly as good for getting the baby moving...No doubt it's the sugar/cold combo that does it.

Both of mine were wedged into stupid positions with their backs pressed against my cervix from about 26 weeks (I have a weird shaped uterus apparently) with their feet turned in, so I felt pretty much nothing except if they got hiccups. My ob suggested the cold drink / sugar thing (not much help cos I had gestational diabetes - yuk!).
Otherwise, lie somewhere quiet after you have just eaten something and give 'em a good poke!

Hi again,
Just wondering if anyone can tell me what types/amount of movement is normal for 35 weeks? I'ts just that bubs movements are getting strange (probably because of rapid growth). So if anyone can help me out I would appreciate it :D
Thanks in advance
Rainbowbrite :)
Hi! Perhaps your baby is engaging (changing position to get ready for labour). I'm no expert, but my best friend said that this felt strange for her, also. Baby's movements will begin to get slower and much less frequent too, because he/she is running out of room in there! I'm sure everything's fine.
Love, Nan. xx
