Side effects of epidurals, have u had any?

Hiya all,

I am wondering if any of you have had side effects from an epidural. I was awake while my son was delivered by c-section and had to have a spinal for it. However, the anaethetist took almost 40 minutes to get it in!! In all she stabbed me with three locals before the epidural was put in properly, it was awful.

I felt this horrible poking feeling through my left buttcheek and slightly in my thigh. I think she must have been in the early stages of performing this procedure or just particularly unlucky with my body, because in the end another anaethetist took over and put me out of my misery in less than 60 seconds thank goodness...
Since the procedure, i still get that feeling down my buttcheek and thigh which is tingly and uncomfortable at times, is this normal, and will it go away eventually??

gelfling_girl i just had a caesarean and spinal last friday and got the stabbing pain in my but cheek and leg while they were putting it in. I don't get stabbing pains now though. My back does ache a bit but i think thats because my tummy still hurts and i'm a little hunched over.

Sorry i'm not much help. If it keeps happening i would ring your dr!

I had an epidural and for the next couple of days i had a sore back and my feet sort of tingled numbey (hard to explain) though it all went away

After DS was born I used to get really bad lower backaches. But I had another epi with my DD and have been alright since I fell pregnant with her. Although I did get really bad heachaches for about 6 months after DD was born and that's another side effect to the epi's.
