hi does anyone know much about or has been to peter lee?

My ob is sending me to him as i am having twins and apparently i need to see a specialist.

I am fighting to try and have the twins naturally - do i have much of a chance convincing him or is he pro c=section ?

abeckaj, firstly congratulations on your twin pregnancy. I had Lionel Steinberg and had a complicated pregnancy. I highly recommend him. We had to have Ben and Matthew at 32 weeks due to a complication and I'm not sure we would have had the same outcome had we gone to someone else. He is very proactive and one of the best in the field. He will not place you or your babies at any unnecessary risk and will ensure the safe delivery of your babies. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have, I'm sure you have many. Feel free to pm me if you'd like.

I have also seen Lionel Steinberg - he is very pro natural birth. If your last pregnancy and delivery were uncomplicated I think he would deliver your twins vaginally. If you ring up and talk to his receptionist they will probably put you through to him or get him to call you back.

I didn't have twins but had 2 VBACs (vaginal birth after caesarean) with him. He was very supportive and has a policy of low intervention. I also knew he was very experienced in all types of deliveries if anything went wrong.

There's no reason that you can't deliver your twins naturally - it seems that Obs are less experienced in twin and breech deliveries and would rather cut you open. You will have to be very insistent to get want you want but it's worth it.

And congratulations on your twins! How special!

Thanks for your replies! My ob has agreed that if twin 1 is head down at 36 weeks (which he has been since the 20 week scanso :fingerscrossed: he stays there) then he will let me try to have them vaginally but he wanted me to also see Dr Pete Lee for an opinion as he specialises in multiple births.

Hopefully my 28 week scan tomorrow is problem free and i will just be strong and stand my ground when i see the specialist.

My delivery was pretty problem free with dd - she just arrived a little early at 38 weeks, apart from that i didn't even have stiches and my labour was only9 1/2 hours form the time they hooked me up to the drip to get things moving till she popped out!

I'm seeing Peter Lee for TTC issues, so I'm not sure if he's anti c-section or not but he's a really nice man  he works from ferntree gully and Dandenong Nth.

abeckaj, have you been to see dr. lee yet? What did you think of him!

I've changed my opinion of him, don't think he has much clue to tell you the truth (not with regards to me anyway). Every time I see him it's like he has no clue who I am. I've spoken to him twice on the phone since my m/c (which he didn't do, and I had at a different hospital) in March. Initially he told me to continue taking metformin, then a few weeks later told me to stop to give my body a chance to recover. Anyway, I went to see him today and he said 'so how have you been?', 'how have you been going on the metformin?' and I said 'well you initially told me to start taking them again after the m/c, then you told me to stop taking them until you saw me today'. He was like  'I didn't know you had a miscarriage', 'I can't remember talking to you on the phone'. Honestly, I mean I know he has hundreds of patients but why weren't my phone conversations noted in my file, why wasn't my miscarriage noted in my file! Unbelievable.

I've seen Lionel Steinberg mentioned a few times in this thread. Where does he work from?? I really think it's time to find a doctor who actually gives a toss about whether I fall pregnant or not. I am SO flippin' frustrated :banghead:

Emsmum, I didn't like Dr Lee at all when I had to see him. I found him to be, well, Rude! I hope that you find someone else.

Thanks Milliner, I think I will start looking for someone else. He's very blaze (sp?), and I didn't leave there feeling very hopeful or confident about the future, and I need a very re-assuring doctor who takes an interest in ME and who will tell me that I AM going to have another baby.

no haven't seen him yet couldn't get into him till 32 weeks and that seemed to be so much of a hassle to the recpetionist - first of lal she booked me in when i would be 36 weeks - kind of too late i told her. So they "squeezed" me in for 32 weeks.

I ahve heard bad stories a lot since then about him, although i had my ultrasound at his offices and the lady who did it said he is pro natural delivery.

My 28 week san was perfect though and both babies were head down so if they continue to stay there no one can try to stop me form trying to have them vaginally.

I am not that fussed what he has to say when i see him - hopefully i only have to see him once as a legality ( my ob is actually and GP witha Dip. in obstetrics so has to forward high risk pregnancies on to a specialist for a review)! Nothing else has been worng thorugh this pregnancy so i am just going to stick by my guns and tell them i am going to try to have the twins vaginally!

Abeckj - DR spears sent me to Dr Lee when I was preg with DS, as bryce thought that I needed a c-sect and my pelvis was to small and he didn't know if it was to late to induce me. Peter said that he didn't think that I needed to be induced and was very pro natural.

He even came into the hospital the day after I gave birth and said to me Why did he induce you, why didn't he wait. I found him to be rude, but he was pro natural.

Congratulations!

Which hospital are you going to?

Dr Peter Lee and Dr Chris Davenport are both obs that are associated with The Angliss in Ferntree Gully, and our middy told me the other day at our appt that both of these drs have delivered twins vaginally and are fine with it as long as there are no complications that arise during the pregnancy.

We're not having twins as far as we know (we have our first u/s at Dr Lee's suites on Thursday, so we'll know then!). We just have a massive family history of twins so I wanted to know I had the option of a VB if we were carrying twins! The Angliss is a good place to start if you want a VB

abeckaj, hopefully you will only have to see him once. You may like him, but I don't - I'll be looking at alternatives because he really doesn't seem that interested in helping me to conceive, and I need someone who can offer me hope, confidence and support seeing as DH and I have been TTC for 2.5yrs  very frustrating. You never know, you might think he's ok - maybe I just get him on really bad, grumpy, I don't care about anything days.

Oh and BTW, his secretaries are so rude too! I rang on Monday arvo because I forgot to get a script from Dr. Lee and I'm still waiting for them to call me back with Dr. Lee's answer (as to leaving a script for me at reception). When I left yesterday I heard one receptionist (who had just finished a phone conversation) saying to the other one 'that girl was 15 and pregnant, can you believe that, she should know what has to be done'

I think I know the one you mean LOL, I know of one really rude one at Dandenong. They talk to you so quickly, on the phone, like you're taking up too much of their time! Good riddance I say

I know the one - I had her yesterday on the phone when I rang about my scan appt. But that's her problem not mine. I figure I'm not going there to see her ;)

I've found the other women there to be lovely and in person I haven't come across any rudeness. Just that one woman on the phone.

I find the lady who does the US at dandenong to be really nice and helpful, she takes her time and doesn't rush it.

That's Helen (I think that's her name). She's fantastic. We saw her on Thursday night, and she did the ultrasounds for DS as well.

She makes you feel really good :)

Anyway, the receptionist we've been talking about told me that I had to drink 3-4 glasses of water before my 12 week US last week. When Helen started the US she commented on how full my bladder was and how it was bigger than my uterus! I told her I'd been instructed to drink all that water and she was blown away. She knows who's told me that and said she'd look into it, as it was totally wrong, and apologised for any discomfort I had experienced.

Well, I saw Dr Peter Lee last month and he performed an amniotic fluid test. He seems to to be a very competent doctor and he is a nice person too.
