After 2 1/2 years of breastfeeding, and fiddling about with the odd comfort feed here and there for a few months, I think it's finally over.

The clincher for me was when DD woke this morning, cuddled up to me and asked "Mummy milk?" (which she hasn't done for about 4 weeks). I was still half-asleep, not inclined to raise my top in the cold morning air, and instead offered to make her "Wiggly weetbix with warm milk and honey?".

"Okay!" She said, almost instantly jumping up and down excitedly on the bed.

It's been a long road for us, with a difficult and painful start where I felt like just giving up especially during the growth spurts, but I was determined to breastfeed and nothing was going to stop me, so I used any resource I could - the ABA, a private lactation consultant, nipple shields, not to mention just about every book I could get my hands on.

So, to all my supporters, including some lovely ladies on this forum who have given me sensible and much-needed advice, thank you very much.

Think I'll go out to the shops and splurge on a lovely new push-up bra now.:D

Wow, you are an inspiration to me!! I am hoping to keep going and let DS self wean. Its been nearly a year and its been easy for us so if you can do it I can do it!!!

I miss all those pretty bras though...I think that's a great reward - get one with some lacey bits on it, LOL

Definately go to the shops and splurge on a new bra or 2 ;)

What a fantastic effort. You should be so proud of yourself. I wish i could have fed DS longer. He self weaned at 7 months:crying:

Thank you all for celebrating with me - but to be honest, I don't really feel anything - neither huge relief to "have my boobs back" nor disappointment that it's over.

It's just another milestone, and I probably get more emotional looking at all of DD's itty bitty baby clothes.

And yes shed, it will have lacy bits....I'm thinking matching knickers too for the first time in about 3 years!!!
