Hey Jo
I too suffered from depression during some of my teenage years (untreated) and then again in my early twenties (treated w/ meds and a therapist). When I went to the CHN at 12 weeks preggers she asked about previous issues and got me to fill out a special little form about "how I have been feeling in the last 7 days". It's routine I think for them to ask about it. Anyways, they asked me to keep a check on my feelings and if I had any little negatives that became irrational Big negatives then I had to contact either them or my Doc. Luckily I sailed through with only positives which is a big feat considering all the hormones going mental 24/7. After Maddy was born I had to fill out the little form again and again was told to keep a close check on my moods. I was worried that I would suffer from PND too but 2 months on and I am in the swing of things and only had the 3rd day blues. Make sure you make your CHN or Doc aware of your previous situation and they will see to it that you have plenty of support to help you through any 'bad times' if you get any at all. Infact my CHN told me that women who have suffered depression in the past are more likely to pick up on the early warning signs and get things sorted out than women who haven't.
All the best
:) Hi,
I suffered depression as well, and I was really paranoid that I would suffer PND as a result but both the councelor that I was seeing when depressed and my doc told me that it would be less likley for me to suffer PND because as mentioned above once you've been there you know the signs and are more likley to geet help sooner.
I too had the day 3 blues and then it was smooth sailing from there. Do think it's a good idea to let your doc know though, as you will then be assured of support.
Good luck :)

once again thank you. take care :)
