My 6 week old DD is formula fed and only poos every 4 days...paed said this was not good - given she is formula fed. When she finally goes she is not constipated as such - it is always on the very runny side. Anyone else with this problem?? Any suggestions??
My little one was formula fed since 1 month old and she went everyday, no fail. She from time to time will start doing very hard poos; as I understood this is normal when they are formula fed (constipation). When she was constipated, she wouldn't go for no more than a day or two. 4 days sounds like a long time but then again all babies are different. Did your doc recommend anything? Changer her/his formual?
Layla was on S26 and I couldn't wait for her to be 12 months so she could stop taking it, she was constipated a lot, not as bad as some other kids get though, I have heard some horrible stories about going to the hospital and stuff.

Same thing happened to my son around this age I was told my gp and I gave him 1 tea spoon of brown sugar in with his bottle it did the job.
It's not nice when they get constipation.
Hope bub gets better.

This is what we have done too with our children get constipated.
I've heard from several doctors and CHNs that some bubs (and adults) can go for a week without pooing, and as long as that is normal for them and they don't seem to be in any discomfort or straining when they do poo, then there's no need to worry.
If she isn't constipated or in any discomfort, maybe that's just her regular bowel habits? I'd get the opinion of another medical professional before worrying and starting on remedies (after all, if everything is normal, those remedies will likely just cause diarrhea).
Try offering her some more water during the day (in addition to her normal bottles). That might gently help move things along. At worst, all it'll do is make her wee a bit more :)
