Hi! my name is angie and i am 39. i've tried posting on some of the other 30+ forums but they have been going for ages and i don't really know what everyone is up to. so i thought i'd start a new one. i'm interested in chatting to anyone but thought it would be good to start a melbourne 30+ thread as the others all seem to be in qld.
i have a 7 1/2 month old ds who is the light of my life. he isn't crawling yet and isn't too keen on solids. he loves breastfeeding though which is still going strong. he has two teeth just poking through on the bottom which is very cute!
so if any other melbourne 30+ mums feel like a chat post here as i'd love to hear from you! :yelclap:

 mysweetpea,
Good idea starting a new thread. I'm 34 and live in the outer eastern suburbs of Melb with my DH and 3.5yr old DD. She is so awesomely beautiful  and is growing up way too fast. She makes me laugh every day, and I love hanging out with her. Unfortunately DH misses out on heaps because he works very long hours. You're doing well still breast feeding, we stopped at 6 months cause DD was losing interest and I was sitting there with one (.) hanging out while she just looked around, so I thought 'enough of this' and put her on to formula, although I continued to give her a night feed until she was 9 months. I know Northcote pretty well, used to work in Thornbury ages ago
Anyhoo, enough :ecomcity: ing from me. Hope to chat to you soon.

I am 31, so I only just make it, but I have 4 boys, and just love being a mum, they range in ages from 1 to 7 and are the best little spunks in the world, I feel so lucky to be their mum, and I have been at home for nearly 8 years raising them, I have a supportive hubby, who is happy that I am happy at home with 4 ferals. They keep me busy, but that is just the way I like it.

welcome everyone  and great to hear from you!
mel - i agree with you that our babies are growing up far too quickly! it seems like only yesterday that dh and i were driving to the hospital to have bub and now he is nearly 8 months old! i can't believe how quickly time is flying
4boys2love - wow, 4 boys! you'd have your hands full! well done for staying home with them for so long. i'm due back at work in october and even tough it will only be a couple of days a week i'm dreading going back!
punkbaby - an hour and a bit away doesn't count, some people commute that far to work everyday! when is bub #4 due? you'll have your hands full too! best of luck for the rest of your pregnancy
well, it may be cold and wet outside but its a great day to be snuggled up inside! a great excuse to spend a lazy saturday evening at home (actually, it doesn't matter what the weather is doing, we are always at home on a saturday evening these days lol!) not that i'm complaining, i wouldn't have it any other way.
i hope everyone is having a great weekend! no doubt it will be monday again soon enough! chat soon!

hi mumof three and welcome to our new thread  black rock - what a lovely place to live. my BIL and his lives in Beaubaris right on the beach too. its lovely down there
i used to live in the country, moved down to melbourne about 9 years ago. i love melbourne, i think its a great city! :smiliedance: mum still lives up in the country (in even a smaller country town than i lived in) and even though i love visiting her and spending time in the country air, i'm a city girl at heart. so its great we've got a melbourne thread going. i'm looking forward to getting to know you all :yelclap:

I'm 36 and have a DS who will be 2 in a fortnight and am due to have my second DS in Sept. I'm very excited to be having another little boy, DS1 is the greatest child there has ever been;) , but am so over being pregnant as I've been really sick for the last few months. Bring on Sept!
I don't know many as 'old' as me having babies or with toddlers so it will be great to chat with you all.
I'm jealous of those with 4 kids as that is what I always wanted but finances and my body are insisting we stop at 2.

Thanks for the welcome, angie (sweetpea). I love your photo. I grew up in the country too, but love living in Melbourne now. Brrrr bit cold atm though:yes:

Hi, I'm 33 and expecting my first baby in late September. :) Most of my friend have had their first child in their 30s so I feel like I'm in the average age range. Am living in the inner south suburbs but moving a bit further out in early September.

yes, isn't it freezing here in melboune! how was the fog at the airport this morning?! i certainly wouldn't want to be flying in that!
i met up with my mothers group today. there are only 3 of us left who meet up regularly. bubhub is great, it feels like a lovely big mothers group!
daniel still isn't too keen on solids :( any tips girls?

mysweetpea, I have 4 kids and number 1 and 4 were shocking eaters, however now my eldest eats everything in site, when for the first couple of years, he really ate nothing. You can't force feed, so try to relax, when people say they will eat when they are hungry, as annoying as it can be, it really is true. Goodluck with your little man.

thanks 4b2l! i don't usually get too stressed about it but sometimes when other mums with bubs similar ages say how much they are eating i wonder if there is something else i could be doing  but he is such a happy boy and seems to be thriving on breastmilk so i'm not going to worry about it at all! its nice to hear some encouragement

I agree with 4B2L, don't stress! Each baby is different.
DD1 was eating virtually nothing at 7-8 months - if i got 2 teaspoons in, in a day I was doing well. "They" say family diet by 12 months - DD1 was not even close - even then I was lucky if I got a few spoons of pumpkin into her.
DD2, completely different - on family diet by about 8 months - what ever we had the night before I would just grind it up and give it to her!
Both are GREAT eaters now - really healthy kids - chow down on the veggies, all good!
Ooooh, James Bond movie on tele - time for some mindless junk!!! ;)

hi everyone  i hope you are all well and have had good weekend.
thanks mumof three for the above advice, i feel a lot better now! daniel will be ready in his own time. its not like he's starving. i weighed him the other day and he was 9.6kg! i don't know accurate that was compared to the baby scales but i wouldn't think there'd be too much difference.
i had some professional pics taken of daniel last week as GFP Studios. they took his first baby photo at the hospital and i loved it! the photos this time are great too but a little pricey i have to say. still, it's worth it i think. i've gone for a package of 5 pictures and they mount them in a frame and everything so i just have to put it on the wall. they had the option of buying prints but then you have to go out and buy the frames and knowing me the photos would just sit in drawer for ages and that would be such a waste!
i haven't anything exciting to report, pretty boring actually!
i've finally booked in the date and church for ds christening. the godparents have been asked, now we just have to work out where to have the lunch afterwards. i feel a lot better now that its finally coming together. i had wanted to have him christened at 6 months but it just didn't happen, now he'll be 9 months. oh well...
anyway, better go i suppose. chat again soon.

I have just come across this thread. Welcome to Bub Hub Angie (and all those other's who I haven't welcomed before!).
I'm Sal and I have just (less than 3 weeks!) turned 37. I have three small people and a big one by my side. DS#1 is nearly 9, DD is 6.5 and DS#2 is 18 months and the light of our lives. He is our 'gift' who came to us in a moment of passion like a previous poster said.
We live in the SE of Melbourne. Looking forward to chatting.

hi Sal  thanks for joining our thread!
happy birthday for 3 weeks ago happybirthday It's great meeting other melbourne mums. i feel like bub hub is inundated with mums from qld! not that that's a bad thing, but they can't possibly understand when we talk about melbourne's cold weather, 4 seasons in one day etc (not that we are talking about the weather on bubhub, far more interesting things to be talking about lol!)
i've finally gotten around to organising daniel's christening. he'll be 9 months (instead of the 6months i originally wanted him to be. where has the time gone?!) but as least it's organised. just have to book in somewhere to have the lunch afterwards (forgive me if i'm repeating myself, feel like i've told this story before!) i just hope his gown and bonnet fit him, i bought them ages ago!
don't know if you realise girls, Harvey Norman have 15 cent pics at the moment. i've been getting some developed for an album, only thing with digital shots there are just so many to choose from!
hope everyone is well and surviving the cold. look forward to hearing from you

Mysweetpea, how are the Christening plans going? I have babtized all 4 kids, and it doesn't matter that he is a bit older than intended, it will still be a lovely day! You said in an earlier post that you are returning to work in October, and dreading it. How many days are you going back for? I hope it goes well, as I am sure that it will be hard for you. I have been sahm for 8 years because I couldnt be away from them, so goodluck, I am sure you will be fine!

hi 4b2l  the christening plans are coming along well. we've booked the church and the preparation we have to do (at the church - it's not just a matter of turning up on the day anymore!) we just have to find a place to have the lunch afterwards, then i can send out the invitations. i just want it all finalised now! we did have an idea for a place but unfortunately they have a big booking already for that day so we have to find somewhere else. i'm sure we'll find somewhere (we'll have to lol!) we've asked the Godparents and they said yes, so that's all good. now i just hope his gown and bonnet fit as i bought them ages ago!
as for work, i'm planning to go back 2 days a week. i'm a nurse so the shift work is really handy. i'm hoping to do a weedend shift so dh can look after him one day maybe MIL for half the other day (and dh after he finishes work) i'd love not to have to go back but i don't want to lose my long service leave which is due in a couple of years. plus the extra money will be needed. you are so lucky that you can stay home! i will miss him terrible i know, i can't bear thinking about it!
anyway, great to hear from you. i thought our thread had gone a bit quiet!

mysweetpea, 2 days isnt so bad, you will still be with him the majority of the time. Financially being at home full time has been hard at times, but the rewards more than make up for it. I enjoy going to swimming, Karate, playgroup, and helping out at the school, going to school assembly etc etc. I am only too aware of how little time we have with our kids before they are gone, and while staying at home is not an option for everyone, I have coped without the money and have really enjoyed myself with the kids. I think you will be fine, and you said you may be able to get a weekend shift, that is fantastic, try not to get too stressed out about going back, and just enjoy the time now with your beautiful little bub!
Hi everyone
MSP..my little one Delaney is only a day younger than your Daniel..8 months old now too! I am now 36 and live right at the top of the mornington peninsula...
Hopefully i won't find it too hard to keep up with you guys postings wise..lol
I am a nurse and went back to work when Laney was only 10 weeks old.. only 2 - 3 days a week.. and some of that time I can have her with me which is great..shes good therapy for my patients too:) they love her.. The rest of the time my mum and mother in law have her for a day each .. I have a fairly flexible job and can nearly do my own hours..so its perfect.. Much as I would love to be able to stay at home and not worry about working at all:yes:
Looking forward to getting to know you guys!

hi mash  and welcome to our thread!
what sort of nursing do you do that you can take delaney into work with you? i usually work on a busy surgical work so unfortunately there is no way i could have daniel there. i'm due back at work in october and i can't believe that it's only 2 and a bit months away!! i plan to do 2 days a week but haven't worked out the logistics yet ie babysitting, which days etc. i'm dreading it though! :(
what's delaney up to? daniel has 2 bottom teeth, is rolling all the time although not crawling yet. he can sit up on his own for a little while before toppling over, and says mama and dada although he doesn't mean them as mum and dad yet (at least i don't think so) he is still breastfeeding and started solids at 6 months however he is not too keen on the solids yet, it's been very slow going. he's hardly starving though, he weighs about 9.6kg!!
it must be lovely to live on the mornington peninsular! do you spend a lot of time on the beach?
anyway, look forward to chatting to you. hope you and everyone else have had a good weekend.
Hi:wave:
I run an outpatient clinic for people with MS and coordinate drug trials.. Before i went on maternity leave I was also working on a neurology/neurosurgery ward.. not sad thats finished let me tell you! My MS job is a great job..Only problem is that there is a bit of travel involved.. which I loved pre Delaney:yes: but not quite so much now.. I usually have interstate trips 3/4 times a year..and o/s once or twice.. The interstate ones i have been able to take her on though..
Whats she doing? Sitting unassisted..waving..tis so cute..babbling..dada She has just decided that veges aren't her favourite but she does fairly well with solids.. cereal mixed with fruit in the morning..some yoghurt..and previously veges at dinner..lol will have to work on my veges recipe.. She was b/f til 6 months but I never had a great supply.. I really miss it.. no teeth yet and weighs about 6.7 kgs..shes just a little one:) short like her mum..lol
You'll be ok going back to work8 hours will fly by..and 2 days isn't too bad... don't worry too much ok!
Hope you and everyone had a lovely weekend..

well, today was cerainly a nice change from the cold wet weather - almost spring like!
mash - your job sounds ideal! although i agree with you that the travel component could be tricky having a little one. your old ward sounds just as busy as mine, am dreading going back really. oh well, can't be helped  and delaney's doing really well! daniel has started saying da-da in the last few days which is very cute too.
have finally organised his christening which is a big relief! sent the invites today. now i just hope everyone can come! we've only invited family as it's too much to invite all our friends as well. all up we'll have around 30 people which will be nice.
am visiting a friend from work tomorrow who had a baby about 8 weeks ago so looking forward to that. only thing is i have to drive to east bentleigh and i've never been there before, so no doubt i'll be studying the melways! i'm absolutely hopeless with directions!
anyway, hope everyone is well and cold free! look forward to hearing from you all.

First I want to say that I think bub hub is GREAT! It's been a wonderful place so far to say hello to some local mums.
I'm in Point Cook, and since I'm new not just to the suburb but to Australia as well, I have a lot to learn! I am hoping this message board and the lovely parents posting here will be able to help me adjust to a new culture!
PLEASE! Feel free to give me advice, on everything! Playgroups, cheapest places to shop, good restaurants, anything that will help with the transition.
I have a beautiful 15 month old son, Xander, that's a TOTAL handful! (terrible two's early?) But he's adorable nonetheless... I also have 15 & 16 year old boys and a 12 year old daughter. They have just started school, and are still excited with all the differences, although a bit nervous to make new friends.
Hope to hear from everyone!

yeah, bubhub is pretty cool! it's great being able to chat to other mums about our bubs, or about anything at all for that matter! you should check out the birth group for bubs xanders age, its great being able to compare what they are up to at the same age.
well, poor daniel has another cold (me too but i don't count lol!) it seems to be worse than his last one (this is his 2nd) more on his chest. he's coughing up heaps of **** and is generally pretty miserable and not himself at all. i might take him to the doctor if he doesn't improve soon, although i know they won't be able to do much at all.
how is everyone going? it seems to be quiet around here lately :( where is everyone?
anyway, hope everyone has had a great weekend. bring on spring i say! having a taste of sunshine reminds me that it's not that far away (although i know there is still plenty of cold melbourne weather to come :snow: )

I haven't popped in here for a while. But you seem to have gotten the trick of chatting! :p
I have to say, it's really lovely to see a thread grow and develop like this. From a few mums who came to this thread not knowing each other and some being relatively new to motherhood, you all seem to be settling into the chat really well.

daniel's christening is fast approaching! 19th august. everything is pretty much organised, i just have to ring the lady who i'm hoping will make the cake. i can't believe there is so much preparation for a christening these days! you don't just rock up to the church anymore!
i've signed up to photobucket but still don't know how to put a photo on here. i'm hoping someone can tell me so i can put some christening photos on.
we had a couple of beautiful spring like days this week which were just gorgeous! but today was freezing again so it was just a taste of whats to come. bring on spring i say!!

Hello everyone I'm still around, have checked in the 30+ thread a few times but haven't had time to post and say hello... ... my update is that my attempts to improve the wile cyote behaviour of my almost 4 year old are slowing paying off... things have been somewhat easier over the last 2 weeks, but we still have our moments... I've been reading kaz cookes kid wrangling to get some humour back into my head about the whole being a mum situation which for a few weeks was not feeling funny AT ALL!!! ds2 is just a dream, just a lovely happy baby who is growing way too quick...
my husband is doing a demanding, time sapping job that is keeping him away from home way too many hours, however it seems that because of the fact that he is putting in way too many hours it seems to be paying dividends because dh has said that he doesn't think it is necessary for me to go back to work until the baby starts primary school and maybe even not then... it's a nice offer, but I really think I feel like I "need" to work, so are thinking about doing some more study, to improve my job prospects and then go back in 2 - 3 years... but until then try to catch some contract casual work and get on some community consultation committees. I'm even thinking about standing for local council!! ARRGGGHHH whats gotten into my brain...
anyhow, ds1 is finally tucked up in bed, he wouldn't settle until I bribed him with letting him put on his size 4 pj's that I bought a few days ago for his birthday... then thankfully fell asleep within minutes... ds2 has been asleep since 9pm, but I can hear him stirring a bit and coughing and spluttering, we both have a yucky headcold, so i might wake him for a feed and hope he sleeps through to 7am or later fingers crossed.
I was supposed to have a appointment with a physiotherepist at the continence clinic in Drouin today... I'm still having problems when I sneeze or somethings like that with pelvic floor... so trying to get some help now so I don't end up like my mum, who at 60 thinks there is no way out of weak pelvic floor issues... etc. anyway I cancelled the appointment cause I wasn't feeling up to the drive with this yucky cold... maybe that was a good excuse.
watched oprah today... talk was about depression. story of the country singer whose wife committed suicide has really shaken me. and then the top plus size model whose husband had severe depression... hmmmm.... too many people in my life have or are experiencing depression... oh well
better go to bed.
take care all... night night.

I too have been a bit slack in this thread.
Angie, it sounds as though the christening is sizing up to be a fantastic day. Sounds like you are putting in a huge effort. I am sure it will pay off.
Kas_chat-I hear you on the people in your life with depression scene. Sometimes I wonder how I am still sane with dealing with it all! Actually it is only the one person and I am at a standstill with that person right now. :hair:
Scout-Yay, lovely to see your name up in lights in another thread!

It is easier when one of the kids is sick because at least I can still look after them. Luckily they all get along well and have kept themselves busy playing while I lay on the couch slowly dying (feeling a little over dramatic) Hope everyone else is well :)

I am on my 5th day with the flu :( Luckily DH has been doing a good job with the kids. This is the only time that I find 4 kids difficult, when I am sick! It is easier when one of the kids is sick because at least I can still look after them. Luckily they all get along well and have kept themselves busy playing while I lay on the couch slowly dying (feeling a little over dramatic) Hope everyone else is well :)
you poor thing! i hope you get better quickly  i can't imagine what you must be feeling - being unwell and having to look after 4 kids! i had a cold last week and i felt miserable looking after only 1 bub! i hope you are getting lots of help. it sounds like dh has been doing a great job with the kids so that would make life a little easier for you. wishing you a speedy recovery!

hello everyone
4b2l - i hope your feeling better! it's not nice being unwell, especially when you have to just soldier on and look after the kids! no 'sickies' for mums unfortunately!
not much to report my end. daniel's christening is approaching fast, sunday week! i ordered a candle today - $35 later!!! i know, i spent far too much and it's all such a gimmack i know. oh well, it's done now. i'm ordering the cake tomorrow through a friend of a friend so hopefully it won't be too pricey. now i just hope his gown fits (i bought it a few months ago!) what will i do if it doesn't?!!
i've loved seeing the sun these last few days (although not too fond of the wind!) someone told me it's going to be 20 degrees on friday but surely that can't be right?!!
i hope it's a nice day for the christening. it's always nice to havew the sun shining for special occasions even if most of the day is spent indoors.
anyway, better go suppose as it's getting late. and i always wonder why i'm so tired in the morning!!
hope everyone is well and surviving colds and flus. spring is just around the corner!! look forward to hearing from you.
xx angie
Hi All,
I am 33 and have just moved to Melbourne's NE suburbs from Adelaide. I have 2 girls 1 & almost 4. We love it here, but need to make some more friends. I am a SAHM at least until they are both in school and mostly love it although some days I miss working. Oh well, I will enjoy it while lasts as it goes too fast.
Look forward to chatting to you all soon.

Welcome pjcd- I am a sahm too, have been for 8 years and yes it does go sooo quick. About the friends thing, join a playgroup, it is the best way to make good friends who are at the same stage in life. You will meet other sahm's who you can also meet up with for coffee, or take the kids to the park etc, etc, during the week. Having a good network of friends is what has made being at home for the last 8 years even better!
Goodluck to you!
Hi Everyone
I'm sitting inside on this cold Sunday afternoon watching my footy team get flogged and then I'm going to the The Cure concert tonight. I feel like I'm in my 50's not my 30's! I'm going to have to go and see Justin Timberlake in November just to recapture a glimmer of youth!
Hi pjcd - welcome. I'm also in the May Mummies group on here (I have seen your post). I'm also from Adelaide - the only thing South Australian about me these days though is the love of my football team.
Bronny Grace - it sounds as though we may live near one another
4b2l - I hope that you are feeling better. I can't imagine being sick with 4 kids around.
Hope everyone else is well!!!

Thanks Scout for the kind thoughts.:) I am feeling much better now, it was really bad for about 9 days, luckily DH works not too far away and could come home to pick up and drop off the kids to school. I had DS3 coming into my bedroom with a milk bottle and his cup, the poor thing! As my illness went on, he tried bringing lemonade in (taking advantage of me being sick) so I don't think the kids minded me being sick, they probally just got away with more. LOL!!! Anyway hope everyone else is o.k!
My DS4 has had it 4 times this month, and he really struggles with weight gain, he is 17 months old and really tiny, so I hate it when my poor little man isn't well.
Scout I am a one eyed Demon supporter, I went on Friday night, we actually won!! I couldn't believe it!
Bronny how is the pregnancy going, I havn't heard from you in while, hope all is O.k. Sorry for long post guys. :D

Hiya all:wave: another "older" Melbourne mum here too. I've been a BubHubber for a while so assume a lot of you know me already :D
Thought I had joined a thread like this a whiles back but couldn't see any posts from me and have been away for a few weeks with severe m/s so always hard to catch up on threads again, sooo many people on here nowdays. But good to find more Melbournians my age.
I know and loove Sal - such a gorgeous groovy model mum!! but don't think I've had the pleasure of meeting anyone else in r/l.
Sorry, i tend to ramble and write novels:o I'm 38, live Mornington Peninsula (orig a QLDer, arrived here 2 years ago after 4 years in UK), pregnant with 6th child and currently SAHM with some occassional study, hopefully more structured next year, although new bubs will make life interesting again. xxx

Thankyou and I have the most amazing DH is the answer. Have actually been in bed for two weeks and only just arisen a couple of days ago. I not only had m/s but 6 of us came down with nasty virus (vomiting, diarohea, temps, coughs etc) so DH had his hands full but is an old hand at taking over when the going gets too tough for me. He only had one day off work too although left late and came home early a few times, luckily his work has some flexibility. My head is still spinny and I feel really lethargic but at least up and about. Can't stand to go near kitchen though, any smells send me running and gagging to the loo. I really don't remember such severe m/s with other pregnancies but prob worse cause of virus or maybe there's a few bubs in there:p Haven't been to GP yet, tried last week but he was booked out and full of waiting sick people so will try again this week but happy that this pregnancy is progressing ok, guess that first scan just helps really confirm it though. Eating and taking anything ginger was actually keeping it under control until virus hit us so must get some more ginger tabs and prob some elevit multi vit to perk up again.

hi everyone  just a quick hello from me
welcome to our thread pjcd and punkydiva! it's great to have some new faces (although i've seen you around the threads punkydiva) and i have to say it's chatting to other mums close to my age, some of the mums on BH are so young and could almost be my daughters!!
glad to hear you're feeling better 4n2l! and poor little ds4, i hope he's on the mend too. it's awful when the little ones are unwell isn't it?!
i've ordered the christening cake and its going to be beautiful. the lady making it made my brothers wedding cake and my nieces christening cake and they were divine! and its only costing $90. the candle is almost half that!
oh girls, i'm not an afl supporter (or any football for that matter) but i'm sorry to hear your team lost! i do sometimes wish i followed it though just so i could compare teams and join in the conversation!
anyway, hope everyone has a great week. talk soon

sweetpea - your comment terrifies me because that feasibly means that I'm in the same boat! Age is catching up me this week - I went to the Cure concert last night with some friends and their 12 year old daughter - there were songs that I last heard before she was born .
Also I don't know anything about Christening's but $45 for a candle! What the....?
I know and loove Sal - such a gorgeous groovy model mum!! but don't think I've had the pleasure of meeting anyone else in r/l.
Sooooo agreed. Sal is the Earth Mumma that I can never be.
6 kids - man, I think that you got all of my maternal instinct! Having had one, I'm more than satisfied. Why is it so
4b2l - ahhh, yes good win to the Demons this week....well, it's a bit like the Crows at the moment, any win is a good one. Have you indoctrinated your children to the Melbourne faith? I make DS get around in Crows jumpers and he is a member of the club too :o
Bronny-Grace - hope you are ok.
A busy day for me - lots going on at work and DP is in Sydney so I had DS on my own this morning and this evening. Yay, can relax now!

my ds is already a carlton member! one of his uncles joined him up when he was a newborn, i had no choice in the matter lol! with daddy, 4 uncles, and his didda (granddad) all barracking for carlton there was never going to barrack for anyone else!
Oh good, I'm not the only one indoctrinating my child.
My only fear is that he will follow another team. I keep telling my DP that I want to move back to Adelaide so that DS won't have any choice in the matter. I fear living in Victoria means that he could get beaten up cause he follows the Crows
Oh gawd, it's almost 9.00am and I'm pfaffing on BH - I'm still in my PJ's and my house cleaner will be here soon. I've got to tidy up before he gets here. And DS has a massive green monster coming out his nose - had better attend to that.
mysweetpea - you didn't explain the candle, I'm quite intrigued.

Hi, I just found this thread so sorry if I'm butting in. I live in the outer SE suburbs and I'm turning 32 in October.
I have two DS's 5 & 3 and we'll find out tomorrow if our new bub is pink or blue.

My boys are Carlton members too. DS1 has been to quite a few games and we're taking both boys on the 25th of Aug because its at Telstra Dome & I don't mind going there cos its not so cold. We've been to family days and clinics with the players and they just love it.

Wow BG - aren't you a funky mama! I just had a look at your myspace page. I like dance music but am not an affficionado by any means. A friend of ours has just married Phil Hartnoll from Orbital - I know enough about the genre to bow down in his presence though!

Yep the candles are expensive..or can be can't they MSP.. I think I spent about the same on Delaney's when we had her christening.. Anyone would think it was ages ago.. must be showing my age hat I can't remember..lol or is that baby brain:yes: mixture of both maybe? lol
Bronny is your radio show any specific topic or just you sharing music?..hope your MS is settling down...

Congratulations, everything is obviously going fine, enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.xoxo
Chelle - congratulations on the pink!!! I hope that makes a wish come true for you.
Mash & sweetpea - so why are the candles so expensive? What function do they perform at a christening? I have no idea about this sort of stuff and the two christenings we've been to haven't had a candle or cake.
BG - I didn't realise you were doing this on your own. I had lunch with a girlfriend today who is a single mother and she can only rave about the advantages - tough in the early days but a dream now that he is 2.
Phil is a very, very lovely guy. He comes to Australia reasonably regularly now and tries to make it a working trip and thus play will play a gig or two. His brother recently did some work with Robert Smith which I think is soooooo cool.
Gawd - have we got enough Carlton fans here??? I'm still p!ssy that you have Bryce Gibbs - he should have been playing for Adelaide . And the way that Carlton are romancing him, he will never leave.
Had to rush home to pick up Saxon from daycare today - a temp of 40 degrees. He has roseola which is some sort of viral infection. He's running around like a mad-man though, so I think he is fine!

Didn't think there were any other Carlton supporters on BH but I was sooo wrong. We go to all home games so mighta seen some of ya there. It's a great part of living in Victoria me thinks even if we do have to back a losing team:D My Dh has been a supporter for years even when we resided in QLD and was sooo happy when we decided to come live down down under.
I'm feeling so much better and going to see GP tomorrow, hadn't even realised he was an OB and middies at local hospital ****ed me off so will see how I go with him. People really should know better then to mess with pregnant woman.:D
Welcome to newbies, congrats on the pink (I want blue this time around but pink is cute too) and hugs all around to my new melbourne mates. Off to vacum my car now, seeya:wave:
Thanks Scout! That actually made me feel better, i've had someone else having a go at me today telling me they think i'm making a mistake, nice huh!
Don't you love constructive comments like that? What are you meant to do then, keep it in there forever? Yep, you may be making a mistake but there ain't nothing you can do about it now so you just have to get on with being the best mum you can be. :D

BronnyGrace... in my experience having a baby is prob one of the only "best" mistakes one can make, just ignore the ignoramous's that say things like that. Lotsa :hugs: and hope talks with the Daddy go well and he is supportive of you and your decisions. It's wonderful when both parents can be involved despite their personal differences but not always ideal so guess one just does the best you can to avoid to much stress so you can enjoy your journey.
Will try to catch your DJ spot so I can put a voice to a name at least:D You sound like one busy lady. xxx
I have two more Tuesday's before I go back to work so I shall also try and tune in BG.
I'm having one of those days where I'm thinking a baby was a big bloody mistake  (except I don't feel so ha ha). Sax has a viral infection (thus can't go to daycare) so has been running amok inside all day. He doesn't want to do anything with me but doesn't want to be alone either. He screams one minute and then is laughing the next. :hair:
How do you girls with 4 or more do it? I can't deal with one :(.
forbetoel
16-08-2007, 18:36
Scout- I guess number one reason for being able to cope, is that I always wanted 4 kids, then I was blessed with 4 angel newborns, I am not being smart, I really did have good newborns, no sleepless night with any of them. Now toddlers are a different story, they do at times do my head in, but I really Love being a mum, and enjoy raising the kids a lot. I feel this is my lifes call, I do love being a mum(not saying that you don't, sorry if that sounded bad) Also I have found 2 or more easier than one, because my kids are always playing with each other, so they don't really rely on me for their company. But each to their own, just try to enjoy him as much as possible, because before too long, you will most probally wish for him little again. Sorry if I dragged that on a bit Scout, oh and now that I have 4, me and DH are talking about "just one more" so we will see, atm I love just having the 4, but I am really clucky and would still love to add another little bubba to my beautiful family. Note to everyone: This glowing report does NOT mean I never have bad days, I sure do have those, but I try to keep an eye on the bigger picture, and the most important job that I have in trying to raise 4 honest, hardworking, caring, beautiful men. (anyone with daughters, I am breeding good husbands LOL) Goodluck Scout!
I think that your BH name could easily become 5boys2love - I can have him over with you in a jiffy!
He really is such a good boy - I can't fault him generally, today has just been a testing day. I am so blessed to even have a child let alone such a good one.
I think I said it in an earlier post, I really wish that there was more maternal instinct in me. I'm a really good mum but I have no desire for any more. From a very early age, I said that I would never have any and I maintained that viewpoint up until 33, when I changed my mind. I love DS, he is the best to happen in my life and our (DP & me) lives but one is enough.
That said, I still wish I was like you or Punky......:o
forbetoel
16-08-2007, 19:52
Scout, nothing wrong with wanting just one, when your reasons are soooo valid! To be able to admit that you are just not very maternal is a brave thing to do, some people can't see this and just keep popping them out, which is really no good for the kids. I am sure you really do have a few maternal bones in there, but maybe (being unaware of your past and curcumstances) it probally is just hiding under a lot of other stuff. Your son sounds lucky to have you.
Could I just also apologise to everyone who has to at times read my very bad spelling, this is the one drawback from being a SAHM. 8 years without having to need to spell. Believe it or not spelling and grammer were my high points at school! Just ignore them, I really am not as dumb as I sound! LOL
PunkyDiva
16-08-2007, 23:03
Scout...I'm ROFLMAO at being called maternal. Despite my best attempts at contraception and indeed my original path was one leading straight to a life in a Nunnery, a higher entity had other plans for me and nine months later they arrived. This time around I do actually feel that maternal thingy must be the age factor and something that kicks in and says "have babies quick".
I do love, love, love my family and no matter how many you have you just have to manage and in my case quickly adopted coping mechanisms such as locking myself in the toilet for peace and quiet. When I had three under four at age 24 it was bedlam and I did actually return to the workforce fulltime and off they trundled to daycare. Those people are just angels in my eyes and certaily saved what was left of my sanity. With four and five the others were off at school so sorta like one again plus I had babysitters and helpers.
Would i do it again, you have got to be joking:laughing:

welcome to our thread Chelle123 and congratulations on your pregnancy and your pink bubba! so exciting! i hope your pregnancy goes well.
scout - the candle is significant in the catholic church. it is lit from the candle that burns forever in the church and is very important in the baptismal ceremony (isn't it dreadful, i can't think what the exact signigicance is and its on sunday lol!!) the one i chose is quite a good size and has ribbon on it, ds's name, date of christening etc. it was $35! you can get them cheaper, or even make your own if you like. but anything bought in a christening shop is going to be expensive! and we're having a cake because it seems that thats the done thing to do. you could make your own but i wanted a professional one, probably silly of me but what the heck! then there's the gown, booties etc etc! and the list goes on...
anyway, better go. poor ds has bronchiolitis and is miserable! i hope he's a bit better for sunday :fingerscrossed:
ok girls, i'll be back next week and i'll read all your posts properly and let you know how the christening went.

well, the Christening went well! it was really a great day and daniel was such a good boy (considering he had only had a small feed that morning!) his gown fit beautifully and he looded gorgeous! he didn't even cry when the priest put the water over his head (and he put heaps on too lol!) the church service was really lovely and it was a beautiful day for photos outside (thanks for being good melbourne weather!) the cake was great, as yummy as i knew it would be! i'll put a couple of picks on here to show you, they're not the best ones but they're all i've got until i get some from other people. unfortunately i haven't got any from the church yet.

http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa135/angiebabe28/IMG_1858.jpg
i hope they worked, i'm not very good with photobucket, it's all new to me!
so overall the christening went really well and a gread day was had by all. daniel got some lovely gifts, everyone loves him so much.
a last word on the candle though. after all that money spent on it i didn't get the one i wanted! the lady in the shop gave me a square one instead on a round one (they ran out of round ones) she wouldn't give my money back just a credit note. so i got one from somewhere else ($25, $10 cheaper than the other one yay!) and i didn't like it! the other one was perfect just the wrong shape. i was so cross!! and the teddy broke off the ribbon......i reckon next time (if there is one) i'll just buy the one i want and decorate it myself. too much stress over a stupid candle!!
so now it's back to normal. daniel is recovering from bronchiolitis, he's been unwell with it for about a week (unfortunate to have for the christening but as i said before, he was so good) we're starting a babygym on friday so that should be good. similar to jymbaroo i think.
today is such a gorgeous day, i think we'll go for a walk. i've got to start exercising! i'm back at work on 30th september   and i want to fit into my uniform!
hope everyone is well! sorry for the epic lol!!

can't believe i'm up so late! the time just gets away from me!
well, mum has headed back to the country, it's a week since the christening....now things can get back to normal. not that they weren't normal as such before, it's just that having mum stay with us for nearly a week.......our routine was a little off kilter. so now i'm back on BH......so what's new?!
welcome millismum! i too take my hat off to you for doing it alone! my ds is a really good bub (i think so anyway lol) but even so he has his moments and i can't imagine doing it all on my own. look forward to chatting

how GREAT is this weather?!! i'm loving it! it is a reminder that spring will be upon us in a few days time. and i know that this weather won't last but it's lovely all the same!
nothing much new my end. daniel has started clapping, soooo cute  and he's sitting up by himself now. i finally invested in a playpen and it's great as he'll quite happily play in there for ages and i can do things around the house (or nap on the couch in the mornings yay!)
i've decided that i have to start getting out and exercising and this weather is a great excuse to go walking with the pram. i can hardly blame the bad weather for not walking when we've had such beautiful sunny days! i'm back at work on 30th september and i want to fit into my uniform so that's also a good excuse. ds is 9 months old so i can hardly use the 'i've just had a baby' excuse anymore now can i?!!
anyway, it's getting pretty late so i'd better get to bed.
goodnight girls, i'll talk to you tomorrow
Hi All,
I am 32 and have 2 DD's 3.5yrs and 15mths. We just moved to Melbourne about 4mths ago so are still figuring things out. Look forward to getting to know some new people.

Hiya Mel  At least melbourne has turned on some glorious weather for you although guess when you arrived it was start of all that rain, which we won't complain about cause meant water restrictions didn't go up a stage again and made everything green.
Look forward to hearing your chats about life down here. Quite a few threads on different meets around melbourne you may want to join, always a good way to meet people in real life then.

Hi there,
Welcome to Melbourne. I have been living in Melbs for almost 3 years (moved from Perth) and I love it. I am 2 months pregnant so having no family here, it will be nice to get to know a few mums and share experiences (and learn lots too from you experienced mums!)
Hope to chat soon

Hi Ladies
I would love to join you here on this thread too! I am 36 and am 13 weeks pregnant!! We have been waiting a long time for this pregnancy so we are over the moon at the moment.
I too am from Perth and we don't have any family here either, so have been stressing a little (just a little) about my age (after a comment someone recently made to me at work - don't you love em) and not having any family support around.
Anyway, am over the moon to have stumbled across this thread. Am reallly looking forward to getting to know you! Am recognising a couple of names from my March thread actually - great to know you are close by.
I live in Parkdale on the beach just near Mentone!
Has anyone thought of perhaps organising a meet one day? A lot of us seem to be quite near by.

hello morganj  and welcome also to our thread! and congratulations on your pregnancy! i hope you are also enjoying a healthy pregnancy. you shouldn't stress though, you're only a spring chicken lol! seriously, some people just don't have anything better to than make other people feel bad!
we haven't organised a meet as yet. i don't know how easy it would be with everyone having different aged bubs and living in different suburbs! but it's something to think about
well, daniel now has 4 teeth! he got 2 top teeth in the last week, and this time he's been quite miserable with it. i'm wondering if the top teeth are worse coming through because they are bigger than the bottom ones? i'm not sure.
we were supposed to go to our first Gymabaroo session today but didn't get there because ds has had a cold (yet another one!!) i'm wondering if it's related to the teething.
anyway, hope everyone is well and enjoying the spring weather. it's been quite nice so far!

Hi everyone! Sounds like so many of you are pregnant! Lucky girls, I might sound crazy (dd is six months old) but I would love to be pregnant again... I have days where I really just miss it. But then, (and now milli just woke) I realise that I don't think I could do two at once so close together! lol Looks like I'll just have to wait, like theres any choice, lol. Started Milli on solids a couple weeks ago, the poor thing has so much trouble pooing and theres nothing I can do for her. I just rub her tummy and try to sooth her. Poor baby.
The weather is so good! walk around the fron yard showing her flowers. i love spring!!
Millismum, what a gorgeous little bub Milli is. I hope her little stomach gets used to those solids very soon! Gee I'm going to have so much to learn!!

Hi Millismum and welcome to our thread.
I realise that I don't think I could do two at once so close together
I got pregnant with DS2 when DS1 turned 1 so they are 20 months apart. I had a hard time at the start, sometimes around 8-10 dirty nappies a day between them. :hair: Also, having to cope with a 2 year old's tantrums while trying to get a baby to sleep was very tiring for me. However, it gets heaps better and a lot easier as time goes by and now they are great mates. I just don't know how they're going to cope with a new baby now.
Not trying to put you off getting pregnant or anything. I've got a friend who is due to have her #3 in Oct which will give her 3 kids under 3.5yrs and she thrives on it.

I had an 18 month gap between my first two, and I loved it! Both were having day sleeps so I got a lot done in the afternoons. I had 2 years 9 months between 2 and 3 and it was just different, not any harder or easier. I did have really good babies though! I am with Chelle on the nappy thing though, hated 2 being in nappies, luckily DS1 was toilet trained by 2 years so I only had 2 in nappies for 6 months.

My DS1 was always a bad day sleeper, cut out totally by 18 months, so it made things very hard.

Morganj, great U/S picture. Very cute. They are just so developed at 12 weeks arn't they?? Just beautiful.
slang for penis
Nope actually at that stage they are still neutral but the nub which can turn into a penis or clitoris usually by the position usually indicates boy or girl.
If its up like this \- then most likely boy
if it is lying like - this then most likely girl.
4boys to love - we have it made:yes:
Julie are you seeing Dennis?

4boystolove...yes m/s sickness settled down but I caught the nasty flu virus and it tried it's damndest to kill me (felt like it anyway). Was a bit of a worrying time and had to resort to antibiotics and painkillers to knock it on the haed. Still really exhausted and antib's make me feel sick after taking them but bubs still moving around so hopefully all ok in there.
Just finished an assignment,it's late due to being sooo ill, but at least it's done now, only 3 more to go. Not sure I even want to be a RN/Middie anymore but I'll finish this course anyways so it's not a waste. Punk - are you feeling movement already? How many weeks are you? I haven't felt any movement yet - just twinges. Some days I feel so good though that I wonder if I'm still pg. Such a worry. Sorry to hear you've not been well. Good luck with your studies.

BG...I too had to work up until this year but all our hard slog has payed off and my DH can keep me barefoot and pregnant. Well this once more anyways cause I beleive 6 kids is more then enough:D It is nice though knowing my days are pretty much my own now,to do what I wish with. Was a bit weird at first, almost felt lost but got over it pretty quick when realised I could sleep all day if I wanted.
Morganj...I am 14 weeks and have been feeling movement for a few weeks now. My uterus has been above the pubic/pelvic bone for a while now too though. It is just like a fluttering, nothing like the boots we are in for shortly. Wait till bub starts using ya bladder for a trampoline, oh so much fun, NOT!!

punkydive - hope you're feeling better! there's nothing worse being sick AND pregnant! especially if your not really enjoying the pregnancy!
morganj and BronnyGrace - LOVE your U/S pics! i'm always blown away by how developed they are at such a young age! i remember when i had my 12 week scan, i actually wondered if i was pregnant because i felt just the same and it wasn't until i saw bub on the screen that it hit home that i actually WAS pregnant!
i haven't much to report. daniel's 3rd top tooth has just come through and the one next to it will not be far away so that will make 6! i'm getting a bit nervous breastfeeding because it's beginning to hurt on one side. i think his new top teeth press against my nipple and it can be quite painful! i hope it improves because i'd hate to have to give up b/f because of teeth!
we went to our 1st Gymbaroo class yesterday. just wanted to check it out really. it was fun but i don't think it's essential for bubs development. i think we'll go for just one term for something different to do and that will do.
i can't believe ds is going to be 1 in November!!! where has the time gone?!!! we're just going to have a BBQ at our place and invite all our family and friends. not sure though whether to attempt to make a fancy cake myself or just buy one. any thoughts?
only a couple of weeks left till i go back to work! i'm not too worried though as it's only for 1 day a week to start with. i'll pick up another day after a few months.
anyway, better go. hope everyone is well!

BG - great news about your new abode in Elwood. What a great place to live!!
EmsMum - welcome. All the ladies here are really lovely.
Well we sold our unit on the weekend so we'll be moving into the house we bought in Aspendale Gardens in December! Yippee. Then i can start thinking about setting up a nusery. We've decided not to find out the sex of a bubba though so we'll have to decorate it a unisex neutral theme - maybe yellows and/or greens. DH likes Winne The Pooh!
I'm starting to feel little flutters this last week so I think perhaps it's the bub moving!! It's so exciting.

I am 26 wks pg today, my tummy is getting huge and so is my bum. I've had to go shopping this morning to get some new Summer tops (not that we need summer stuff here atm) cos I'm growing out of everything.

HI everyone.
Bronny- your tummy looks soooo cute, you really do look pregnant now. I think the scan is too early to say what sex, it really is just a guess, it may well turn out to be a girl, but that I think that has nothing to do with the doctor telling you it's a girl iykwim? You cannot get really accurate scan results until about 16 weeks, but I am writting this post in pink, just to give the doc the benifit of doubt. Glad to hear you are feeling so well.
Mysweetpea-:( back to work, you poor thing, at least it is only one day a week, once Sunday's are over, you will have the whole week left with your little man. Let us know how you go! :hugs:

Well you can take on the remainder of the pg if you like - I hate it, the waddling is the worst, and the weight gain, and the peeing, and the sore hips - then there's the labour!!! I really shouldn't be so negative, just feeling a bit blah today and I've got g/final day here tomorrow with about 30 people coming that DH has invited (he didn't realise he'd invited so many people until I just told him now) and the weathers going to be c**p so we can't even put the kids outside.
My 5yo is quite excited about the baby coming but my 3yo is already jealous & a real mummy's boy so I don't know how he'll go.

hi girls
well, i had my first day back at work yesterday! it felt so weird walking into the building, like i hadn't even been away! but at the same time it was quite surreal. and it was strange not having ds with me, i had to stop myself from calling home every ten minutes (only called twice, i was very proud of myself lol!) but ds refused to drink from the bottle so dh had to bring him in for a feed! but that was ok, it wasn't that busy thankfully. so i survived! and i don't have to go back for 6 days! i think it will be good actually doing the one day a week, nice to have some more money too!
isn't it funny how some women LOVE being pregnant yet others HATE it?! i didn't mind it at all however i didn't like the sore hips, back, ribs etc. and i hated the extra weight gain (i'm still carrying it and more i'm afraid!) but everyone says how wonderful you look when you're pregnant even with the extra weight which is nice. the only time in your life when it's actually ok to be fat lol!
i'm so glad the footy is over for another year! i just don't like it. i have to admit though that it was exciting that a victorian team finally one!
anyway, hope everyone had a great weekend. looks like a lovely day today so i'd better catch up on some washing!

School holidays this week have been really good. I don't know what was wrong with me last week, I was really moody and snappy at the kids, and they reacted by just fighting with each other. I am taking them all in to the city tomorrow by train, to visit the museum, so that should be a good day out for them. Wednesday we are catching up with friends at a park for lunch, and the kids can have a play, Thursday we are off to the movies, and Friday might just be a rest day, a much needed rest day.
Hi Ladies
Mysweetpea - glad your first day back at work went okay. It must be weird going back - I'm not sure how I'll cope. See how I feel at the time I guess.
Not much to report here. Enjoyed my first weekend of being able to relax during this pregnancy as we've been crazy the last three months getting the house ready to sell and then having home opens every weekend. Now I can relax on the weekend like I should be doing and not worry about my house being spotless for home opens anymore. We are moving into our new place in December so I'll be able to start thinking about the nursery soon. We've decided to not find out the sex so might go for a neutral theme. Maybe Winnie The Pooh - or is that too boyish!! Any suggestions?
I'm starting to feel a few niggles now too! It's so exciting feeling those first movements isn't it.
I'm really enjoying being pregnant but it's still early days so I'm not sure if I'll be saying that in ten or twenty weeks' time.
I have my first class at the hospital tonight - just on how to look after yourself during pregnancy! Should be interesting. Can't wait!

Hi there, I've been visiting bub hub sporadically for over twelve months now. And I think I've been waiting for a bunch of women like this the whole time !! I am 37 years old with a DH who is 36, we have one beautiful boy who is three and a half and another bub due in nine weeks. I work part time, teaching at a local TAFE/University and have just withdrawn from part time study so I can attend pre natal yoga on Saturdays. (and be less stressed). We live in the Dandenong Ranges but lived in SE Queensland for three years prior to that. Can't wait to have further chats and exchanges with you..............xxNic

Hi mumma2370,
Welcome to our thread.
Well I've reached 2 milestones this week.
1. yesterday reached 1000 posts on Bubhub
2. today reached my 3rd trimester (only 13wks to go now:smiliedance: )
I've got a head full of cold atm and not much else to tell really.

hello ladies
wow! i didn't realise it's been so long! i don't get on BH as much as i used to, and it's easy to get left behind!
i hope everyone is well.
mumma2370 - welcome to our thread, and congratulations on your pregnancy. not long to go now! i hope you are feeling well and enjoying the better weather we've been having. this time last year i had just started my maternity leave and was due on the 26th November. ds came on the 19th instead and is now nearly 1 years old. how quickly the year has gone!
morganj - i'm glad you're enjoying your pregnancy. it's great going to the classes at the hospital, i loved it! it made it all the more real somehow (as if having a growing bump in front of me didn't lol!) i met a lovely girl who was due on the same day as me and we've kept in contact which is nice (although her bub came 2 weeks late and mine a week early so they ended up being 3 weeks apart!)
chelle123 - congrats on reaching your 3rd trimester. it is such an exciting time! i remember at this stage it felt so far and yet so close! i hope you're recovering from your head cold.
well, i haven't been doing much. had my 2nd shift at work yesterday, and it was much better this time. not so strange anymore, almost like i've never been gone. it's hard to describe - 'same same but different' is an expression i'd liken it to!
i suppose i'd better think about organising daniel's birthday. no doubt i'll leave it to the last minute like i do everything else lol! but i should get cracking, i want it to be special even though it's just going to be a casual bbq at our place.
it's such a beautiful day today. i've got heaps of washing (as usual!) so looks like i'll be doing that all day!
hope you are all well

Bronny, I think he was sounding happy and jovial because he got a shcok hearing from you, knowing that he HAS been ignoring you. It would be great if you two could become friends, but if he still wants to go on denying your little bubba?????....welll....It would be his loss iykwim? He doesn't sound too interested does he? I am glad you are feeling wee! I had the stretching pain on and off through my pregnanices, probally when the baby was going through a bit of a growth spurt. How was your 20 week scan?
forbetoel
02-11-2007, 12:23
Nope, the stretching pain is really from everything on the inside moving and stretching.
Stretchmarks are more of a hormonal thing, or passed on through good old genetics. If your mum doesn't have any stretch marks then it is a good chance you won't either. Unfortuantly all the cream in the world won't prevent them, if those pesky little hormones have other plans.
I am still only a size 8, after having 4 kids, but lets just say those hormones left their mark!

It is exciting but it still seems like forever away.
Hi Ladies
Wow it's been busy in here today!!
BG - good on you for contacting daddy and standing your ground! Good luck with it all! And looking forward to hearing all about your 19 week scan!! I thought it would be heaps better than the 12 week scan but bubs was moving around so much that we didn't get a full picture iykwim. It was more bit by bit - ie. this is it's foot, this is the spine, this is it's head, although I'm not sure if the sonographer did that to hide the gender from us (as we didn't want to know). Anyway, he/she was certainly moving around heaps in there!! And still is! The other days he/she had a very active day I thought perhaps he/she was redecorating in there.
Chelle - Only 9 weeks to go!! How exciting!
A big hello to the rest of you lovely ladies!!
Not much to report here. The 19 week scan went really well. Am starting to get really tired and am dreading our move in December. This place we're living in though is starting to get too small now though so I'm quite looking forward to having some space and to decorating the nursery ready for bub!
I propose we organise a meet - perhaps somewhere around Elwood or Brighton - what does everyone think? Maybe a brunch or something? Or is everyone too crazy pre Christmas.

Hey Bronny, Glad you seem to be enjoying your pregnancy so much....isn't it amazing how you bond with your baby so many months before birth? Imagine how much you love her now and then times it by 1000 when you finally get to meet her....LUCKY you! Too bad about the dad, but you will do great without him. Obviously you would prefer to be friends and for your daughter to have a great relationship with her dad, but this isn't something you can control, and I know you will work hard at making up for that. You are going to be a great mum, even though we have never met, I can just really feel it, and I am very excited for you.:)
BG - congrats on having a girl - that is awesome news!! Am so glad the scan went so well. Our due dates are only about three weeks apart I think. Have you been feeling much movement?
Rebekaph - welcome to the thread!!
How about somewhere in Hampton St for the catch up? Would that suit everyone? There's a great cafe near the Station called San Sebastion. Great courtyard out the back. Where is the Turtle Cafe?
Had a bit of a scare this week. Found a lump in my breast on the weekend so had to go have a scan at the Alfred this morning, and am seeing a specialist tomorrow to discuss the results. It has been a very scary and stressful experience. I think it's all catching up with me as I'm absolutely zonked now. Have a good week all!!

OH NO! YOu poor thing, I am thinking of you, I had a scare last year, so I can really feel your fear and worry. Goodluck sweety!
As for the catch up, I will have to travel in by train with 2 little ones, so I would really love if we could go somewhere close to the station, I don't care where, just close by so I don't have to catch a tram or anything with the kids.

O.K I am an idiot....just realised that it is a Sunday, and I would be able to get out without any kids. Anyway not sure if I will be able to make it on a weekend before Christmas, I will see how we go.
BG - thanks for your kind words and sorry to hear you had to go through a similar thing. My specialist that I'm seeing today is Suzanne Neil. I'm off to see her now actually!!
Great news re bub kicking - yeah they definitely do feel more like twitches at this stage.
I'd be surprised if your ob did weigh you at all - it's not really something they do much of these days anymore. I've put on 4kg already!! Yikes! Am 24 weeks this Sunday - time is flying!
Have you bought much yet? I'm still undecided on prams. Do you know any good places to buy stuff around our area?
I always find Brown Cow a bit packed but am happy to go there if you like. So 1 December at 9.00 am suit everyone?
Hi Ladies
Well I had my appt with the specialist yesterday and she wants to do a biopsy to rule everything out. I think they're taking it all way more seriously because of the fact I'm pregnant. The lady was so serious and was asking me so many questions that she was making me really nervous! I'm so glad hubby was there as he works in the medical industry so he understands more than I do and was so comforting to have around.
Anyway, the biopsy is tomorrow so I'm a bit of a wreck today - I think I'm more worried about the actual biopsy than anything else right now. It sounds awful! Just the thought of having a local aenesthetic in my breast too - ouch!!!
Anyway, am happy to meet anywhere.
BG - I've also got my eye on the same pram - let me know if you spot a good price on it anywhere. Am also going to get a capsule. Are you hiring one? I think there's a place in Highett which hires them out. Am looking on ebay for a cot although am also tempted to buy a new one. Must start looking soon as apparently you need to allow a month or two for the order to come in.
Have a good day all!

I can't wait to go shopping!! We haven't bought anything much yet!! Not even any furniture. We're going on a big shop in a couple of weeks and then again when we're off at Christmas. We are moving house in four weeks so I guess we don't want to buy anything too big just yet. DH says we should buy all the nice clothes after bub is born as we're keeping the sex as a surprise. So we'll just get some groovy wraps and singlets and basics for now I think unless we see something we can't resist. Bought a couple of gorgeous wraps in white and yellow at the expo!!
BJ - they had excellent deals on the Beema Q at the expo!! I so wish I'd made up my mind by then. There is one thing that I don't like about them though and that is the handles on the bassinet - just not sure how easy it would be to carry with a bub in it. Have you seen it? Maybe I'm just over worrying. I like the beige. Didn't realise it came in orange!! Not sure I'd go for Orange but black sounds easy to look after. Our bub is likely to have some red/orange in it's hair as DH and I were on the red side when we were kids too.

Hi Ladies
Well it has been a really good week for us so far. Firstly and foremost - I got my results and the lump is non-malignant!! They couldn't tell me what it was except that it is benign so of course we're pretty stoked with that. Am going back in January for a follow up so not sure if they will take it out still or not but we'll see. It feels like I have a pebble near the surface - very hard. :cloud9:
And secondly, we finally made a big purchase and bought ourselves a Mountain Buggy pram off ebay which is in great condition!! We're so pleased with it and now that we have it at home it's all starting to feel very real!! Lol. :smiliedance:
Hope everyone else is keeping well!!

Hi Ladies
BG - Sounds like everything is going really well. How exciting having a name picked out. I think we've got ours almost narrowed down now too. Just need a middle name for if it's a boy. Maybe William or Anthony for a middle name. I won't give away the first names yet though. And great news on all the movement. Sometimes I feel like bub is hammering away in there - the kicks are getting so strong.
4Boys - how exciting putting your tree up!! We are moving in two weeks so we won't be doing much decorating just yet. The bows sound lovely. Look forward to that meet in the New Year!

:wave:Yep, I just love Christmas.:tree:
Glad to hear that you are feeling well and obviously very excited. I am so jealous of all you pregant women.
BJ - Rose is a lovely name for a middle name.
If we have a girl we are going to use Elizabeth for a middle name. That is mine, MIL's and DH's Grandmother's middle name. I also think it might have been my Grandmother's middle name too. I am also thinking of using my husband's Grandmother's first name as a second middle name! She actually passed away like days before we conceived - so we sort of feel like this bub is her gift to us - after a long two and a half years of ttc.

BonnyGrace - sounds great actually. You don't sound mad at all. I'm aiming for an intervention free birth if possible too. I have a doula who will be attending my birth as well as my obstetrician (who is low intervention). I am having bub at Cabrini Malvern - right next door to my ob's rooms. Am starting my ante-natal classes in January.

hi all, well because of my preggy brain..lol icant remeber if ive posted here or not when i joined i do remember reading some of this thread.. ohh dear is it my age or pregg head..lol
well im 37 and preg with no 5 after an 8 year gap, we had tried unseccessfully and had 1 miscarriage in between..
but here we are now 19 weeks preg with no 5 and startingt o enjoy this pregnancy after horrid morning sickness,
im on the mornington peninsula and having bubs at frankston hospital. doing shared care with my dr and ob as im classed as high risk , i usually have such complications as high BP , gest diabetes... and pre eclampisa.. i will be booked in for my 5th c sect.. my first hopsital appointment is tomorrow and my 20 week scan next week how exciting.
my first i laboured for 10 hours not progressing
fetal distress and my heart rate dropped dramitcally, so they did emergency c sect.. later found out that cervix was incompetant and was slightly tilted..? and bubs was stuck.. well she is now almost 15 and healthy happy teenager. all were born via c sect as this one will be too, and my tubes tied at same time.. and that will be it for us.
Welcome Madhousemum!! Congratulations on your pregnancy!!

how was everyones weekend? good i hope. i can't believe how quicky Christmas is approaching! i've actually nearly finished my Chrissy shopping which is VERY good for me, usually i leave it until the very last minute! having said that, i still haven't bought ds anything! the most important one too! i guess because he is too little to understand it i keep forgetting :o
anyway, hope everyong is well.
chat again soon xox

yep i agree i know what you mean re. elective vs emergency
i went through 12 hours of labour too with first resulting in emergency c sect and damaging my uterus. also found out that my pelvis was tilted there was no way a baby was coming through there..lol
hence the rest of them have been elective c sect. this is no 5 and the last!!!

Hi all, I'm 33 with a dh and the two girls and live in the Macedon Ranges near Hanging Rock. About 35 minutes past Melbourne airport.
Hi MaryMac and Welcome! What a beautiful part of the world you live in. We were at a wedding in Mt Macedon in November and it was just gorgeous!
I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas!! We are finally in our new house in Aspendale Gardens and are loving all the space we now have. And bub has a bedroom now so we went and bought the nursery furniture on Sunday. And bub got spoilt Christmas day with a lovely little body suit and a bunny rug and some nice organic soaps and lotions. It's all starting to feel very real now!!
Here is me!!
http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m201/rose1610/Baby/26WeekBump.jpg
Have a great New Year!!!
Thanks BJ! You look fantastic too! Well done on the pram. We got ours on ebay too! You may as well save where you can I reckon!
I am 29 and a half weeks now and am starting to get a bit more tired and a sore back. Also getting a bit of reflux/heartburn and have to be more aware of how I sit as I get uncomfy very easily. We bought a new bed yesterday so that should help when that arrives next week (ours is way too old). Enjoying having a few days off work and getting our house unpacked and settling in. It's so nice to have some space at last.
We must organise our catch up soon!! How about a breakfast or a brunch on 6 Jan? Does that suit?
Sounds great BG! How about the 19th or 20th? I don't go on maternity leave until after end of Jan - so will be heaps more flexible time wise after then. And yes it would be fab to catch up and talk about our bumps and the pending arrival of our bubs. Everyone keeps telling me I'm having a girl too! Who knows!

Bronny, you look gorgeous in your pregnancy pic. Just so beautiful. I love thos big round bumps....I miss mine......
19th or 20th works for me MorganJ !! Let's PM each other closer to the date ... are you central? I work in South Melb and will be back at work by then ... I don't go on maternity leave until March
BJ - Great picture - bump looks great!! I work in the city but am living in Aspendale Gardens. I can easily meet up around Hampton or Brighton though if that suits. I'm not sure the 19th is going to suit me as I think DH has organised a weekend away for us. How about this coming weekend?

Woah! What a crappy night, and an expensive one. Was it for someones birthday or something? Does the girl who organised it work there, and is that how you got the voucher. Anyway, I can't believe what your main meal was priced at if you only had 2 pineapple juices. Maybe you might need to take some exta cash on top of the $100 voucher next time:eek:
You sure are looking great, pregnancy obviously agrees with you. xoxoxo

Ahhh, I see.
How is work going, are you starting to get tired, the days starting to feel longer?
I'm at out tonight, going over to a friends for a couple of champagnes or 3, and then taking the kids out for the day tomorrow, so I had better get moving. :)
Hi everyone
I'm newish to BubHub and just found this thread about Melbourne 30+'ers!
I'm 37 at the moment and had my 1st baby on Boxing Day 2006. She's almost walking and babbling up a storm. We're still besotted. We're hoping to have a 2nd at some point. Not sure exactly when because I've just started back at work full-time and the idea of taking another block of time off messes with my mind (I'm a research fellow at a university - funding is very project/time-line dependent).
But then I'm more frequently asking myself how much I care about investing in the career anymore...and I never thought I'd say that. ;)
Looking forward to chatting. Bub Hub seems to have a high number of lovely folks!

Well done on the voucher, at least that makes up for some of the night.
I didn't know you were taking a year off, I thought for some reason that you were taking 6 months? A year is great, it will give you extra time to enjoy that 6 month to 1 year peiod which is just a gorgeous stage, as they are normally sleeping really well by then and are happy to just be awake playing and hanging around with mum, and love just going everywhere with you. It will be a releif to finish up, and hopefully you don't go early so that you have a few weeks just for yourself, to relax and just daydream about your little daughter.
Hi Ladies
BJ - well done on the voucher! I hope you enjoyed!! Do you know of any nice venues in the area for a pre bub girls lunch? Somewhere with nice food and a relaxing spacious atmosphere?
I too am finishing work this week for twelve months - feels so surreal right now.
Anyone up for a meet soon?

I'm not quite a Mum just yet but would be more than happy to organise a meet!! Particularly now I've started mat leave - yippee!!
How about Brighton or Hampton way - does that suit everyone? Shall we make it one day during the week - say the week starting 10 Feb? How does that suit?

Hello everyone
i can't believe it's been so long since i last posted. before Christmas i think!! i'm sorry i've neglected this thread. it's been a busy couple of months, what with Christmas/New Year, my nieces 1st birthday and mine a week later.
we spent a week up in the country with mum for Christmas and New Year. it was lovely and relaxing! daniel loved the pool which i was very pleased about (i've heard some bubs get scared at the pool) 2 out of my 3 brothers and their wives were up there also with their kids so it was lovely for us all to spend some quality time together. and the weather was just lovely! daniel was still a little young to get excited about Christmas but he seemed to like his presents. New Year was another quiet one. dh and i played Scrabble with mum, oh how times have changed lol!!
when we got back we went down to Rye for nearly a week and stayed with the inlaws (they have a holiday house down there) and had a lovely time there too. daniel loved the beach/water (another relief!)
my niece had her 1st birthday on the 21st January (gosh the time has flown!!) and she had a lovely little party. i had to take the day off work as i couldn't swap my shift.
and a week later i had my birthday and a little get together here at our place. it was lovely and i'm glad i agreed to have a 'do' (i initially didn't want to make a fuss at all but dh talked me into it!)
you see girls, i have turned..... wait for it.........
the big 4 0 !!:eek::eek::eek:
i hope you don't mind if i hang around. i haven't the heart to join the 40+ thread just yet. and i still feel like i'm in my 30's. people tell me i don't look 40 which is a great relief (but doesn't actually change anything!) so there you have it. my big news!
and now it is February and i feel the year beginning to fly by already!!
BronnyGrace and morganj - i hope your pregnancies are going smoothly and that you feel really well. you're certainly getting to the business end!!
4boys2love - i hope you and your boys are all well and had a lovely Christmas
and welcome to all the Newbies (although i feel like a newbie myself it's been so long lol!!)
so once again, sorry i've been an absentee for so long. hope you'll have this old duck back??!!
look forward to chatting catching up with all the goss
xox
Hi Ladies
How are we all??
Sweetpea - don't go anywhere!! You're still a 30 plus mum just like the rest of us really! Sounds like you had a nice/busy time over Christmas.
I've finished work now and am loving all the spare time. Wow! No wonder life is so stressful working full time - it's not like I've been bored this week. Trying to get organised, do housework, help DH with his business and find furniture for our new house. Who has time to work full time? Sorry - just kidding. I hope bub doesn't come early 'cos I'm enjoying this break at the moment.
Am off to my last ante natal class tonight.

Mysweetpea, you are staying, you are still 30 plus. Happybirthday hope you had a great day. Are you still just doing a couple of shifts at work?
Morganj, make sure you enjoy this time before bubs arives. It is a really special time just taking it easy and daydreaming about your little bubs. Before you know it you babe will be in your arms, so there is no need for time to go any faster than it already does. You must be so excited, you lucky thing!
Thanks 4boys2love! I am really enjoying this time. I feel like I'm nearly organised now. So am just going to continue doing a relaxation cd each morning and do some pottering around the house and maybe look at getting some more furniture for all this extra space we have in our new abode. I have some paperwork to catch up on too - it's all good though. So nice to not have to work anymore! I've never felt so content and positive about the future.

Morganj, you do really sound relaxed.
How much bigger is your new house? It must feel a bit empty until bubs arrives.
I hate catching up on paperwork, I don't know why, just annoying and time consumming I guess. Look after yourself.
I am still interested in a meet but would prefer in the city somewhere so I don't have to travel so much, but it doesn't bother me if we make a more central meet some other time.
Hi boys2love - do you live near the city do you? I am bayside so am happy to come in towards the city if that suits. I am in town next Wednesday actually. Yeah paperwork not fun - DH has a business and guess who keeps hiim organised!!
We have moved from a two bedroom unit with one small lounge room (no dining) to a four bedroom, two bathroom house with a family room, informal dining, formal dining area (although probably won't use it for that - maybe another play area) and a lounge room. The lounge room and formal dining area are completely empty at the moment and we are still waiting on a dining suite to arrive (hopefully next week) for the main dining area (just using a small outdoor table at the moment - lol).
I am doing a hypno birthing course at the moment hence the relaxation cd each morning! I find if I don't get it out of the way early then it's 10.00 pm before I know it and I still haven't done it! I'm loving the effect - although it makes me want to just go back to bed.
We finished our ante natal classes last night - they were so good. I've heard so many negative stories yet ours were just brilliant - so informative - and the midwife was just lovely!! So sweet and patient.

I loved my antenatal classes too.
I live west of the city but am happy to travel to the city, I would probally just catch the train to give my two little ones a bit of fun. I have a hair appointment next Wednesday so can't make it, but don't let that put you off setting up a meet then, I will just catch up when we next can get together.
Sounds like you do have a lot more space, it must feel like a mansion after a small unit.
Stay well, talk soon. xoxo

hi ladies
thanks for letting me stay! i love this thread!
i worked yesterday and it was quiet which is nice. i'm hoping to pick up another day this year so i'll be doing 2 days a week. i just have to organise daycare and i don't know how easy/hard that will be. i love doing just the one day but financially two will be better. and besides, i miss having my own money!
so, another Monday. another week. the year is flying by already!! i'm going to really try and eat better this week and do some exercise. every Monday i say the same thing and yet i never seem to find the motivation to actually do it. so this week i'm going to try even harder! this extra weight is not going to shift by itself (unfortunately!!)
morganj - it must feel so wonderful to have finished work?! i LOVED finishing work (i stopped at 32 weeks) it is such a special time and i think important time. having that time to yourself as you wait and prepare for your precious baby to arrive. ENJOY it! you won't ever have that time again. and good luck with the ante natal classes. i loved them too. quite exciting actually! and also the hypnobirthing course sounds great. i'd loved to have done something like that (not that is would have done much good in the end as i had an emergency caesar!) and your house sounds FANTASTIC!! we are in a 2 bedroom unit and i'd LOVE to move into a bigger house! i am so happy for you.
4boys2love - i'd love to meet up one day. the city suits me too as i'm not too far from it. maybe a weekday? the weekends are a bit tricky for me.
anyway, hope everyone had a great weekend and has a great week ahead.
xox
Hi there girls
Can I join you? I'm 36, have 3 and 3/4 kids (no.4 due in April, 10 weeks to go!) I live outer east of Melbourne and I'm a nurse when I'm not a mummy, currently on early enforced maternity leave so a bit of spare time on my hands! Cheers, Jo
Hi Ladies
I'd love to meet you all but am not really up to a trip to the city at the moment - just too tired. Really sorry. I've been trying to do too much and it's call caught up with me. DH has told me I have to slow down now.
Joozi - welcome! Great to have you on board!!
Sweetpea - thank you. Yes I am enjoying maternity leave. Although am busy trying to get lots done! Lol. I have family coming in a couple of weeks from WA and am trying to get the house finished and get some more furniture and get the guest room ready. As well as getting my hospital bags organised and the nursery done. Lol. It's nice to not be doing it all around work though.
WOW! I've missed a whole bunch of chat!
MorganJ, you must be due very soon - are you getting excited!!!!
I know I am ... hehe
I am BJ! Only four weeks to go. Am feeling a bit disorganised too though. Keep thinking every day of more stuff I should go buy - lol! And now I'm thinking I've got too many OOOOs and not enough 000s. Sigh!!
You'll get there! I've almost finished packing. I need to just pack some stuff for DH now (as he will most likely stay over night with me etc), and get a couple of large sport bras to wear for when my milk comes in. I bought some slippers yesterday for us both - lol!! And I also need to get some nail clippers for bub. Then I'm practically done as far as the hospital goes.
The basinette sounds gorgeous. Where did you get it from? We've decided to put bub straight in the cot in his/her own room. We have cats so we're thinking bub will be safer in his/her own room, which is only next door to our room anyways. And I'd like for bub to get used to his/her nursery. Just need to get a baby monitor, night light, mobile, a border/some pictures and a nappy bag now. Oh and a Bjorn or Ergo too at some point.
We're going for the capsule for the first few months (hiring one) so having that fitted next week!! Eeek!

how cold is it today!! a good day to just stay in and be cosy!
morganj - wow! you're up early! getting some practice for when bub comes along lol? we had daniel in his cot in his room right from the start too and he was fine. it is so much fun setting up the nursery. there are some lovely borders/stickers you can get for the walls. and a carrier of some sort it a must i say. we have the Bjorn and it was great. but people rave about the Ergo's too. as for a nappy bag, don't get me started lol! i'm onto my 4th one now and i still can't help looking at them when i'm at the shops or on ebay!! have fun shopping! i am getting nostalgic thinking about it! it is such a lovely time getting ready for your precious bundle to arrive. oh, we hired a capsule too for the first 6 months. they're great for when bub is really little because you can just lift the capsule out when they are asleep and don't have to wake them. we put daniel in his other car seat at 6 months (depends how big they are though)
BronnyGrace - yes, the bassinet sounds gorgeous. as i said, we didn't have one for Daniel . but we'll have to get one when we have another bub because they will have to be in our room (we only have 2 bedrooms, such a pain) unless we move of course. are you getting organised too? you've got a bit more time i guess. no need to be panicking yet lol!
anyway, i'd better get daniel ready for his sleep. i might even have a snooze myself, i'm tired today (just for a change lol!)
:wave:xox
Hi Sweetpea - yes I was up early this morning. Had bad reflux so I got up for a while to see if it would ease and fortunately it did help some. I must get some Rennie today as I'm a bit nervous about taking the Quickeze. What nappy bag would you recommend? Big W are having a massive sale today so guess where I'm heading to shortly.
BG - lunch sounds delish!! I just pigged out on lasagne I made last night and the chocolates DH gave me this morning for valentine's day.
The Quickeze pack says - not recommended for children under 5. So I'm wondering - why what has it got in it?
Love the basinette! Great choice!
I can feel bub's bum today - there's a big lump sticking out - too big to be anything else!! Lol.

I was going to hire a capsule, but then I managed to get the carseat for such a good price and the exact one I wanted that I figured, ah well - will just do that - so i'm getting the Safe N Sound Meridian in black, I'm reallly happy with it - getting it fitted in a couple of weeks and only paid $300!!
BronnyGrace - we have that car seat too! it's a really good one. that's great you got it at such a good price! the basinette is lovely! btw, your lunch sounded YUM!!

my 1st nappy bag was a bugaboo one which i have since sold. i have an Oi Oi hobo which i love and have used to death (and my favourite) i bought a Basque one from Myer mainly because it was on special. it's lovely too, very functional and looks more like a big handbag (but very expensive if not on special) i am currently using a Skip Hop which is great as it clips onto the stroller/pram. Oi Oi bags are great and they have such a big range. there are heaps of nappy bags on ebay if you want to check them out. have i totally confused you lol?!!

i love ebay too BG. i've actually just sold a nappy bag on there tonight lol!! i bought 2 skip hop bags when i bought mine so i sold the other one. which one are you looking at? i'd like to check it out (i promise i won't buy it!)

that's a lovely bag BG! that or something like it would make a lovely nappy bag. as long as it has lots of pockets and compartments for nappies, creams etc.
you have good taste! i don't use a handbag anymore and would sometimes like to get a large handbag that could double as both. when i get sick of my current nappy bag i may just do that lol!
my dh just doesn't get my obsession with nappy bags lol! it's funny too because i've never been a bag person before! (you know how some people have heaps of handbags and always the new fashion etc?)
good luck if you go for it
Hahaha ... you better not! Hehehehe ...
It's this one, i'm trying to decide if I want it or not ... what do you think??
