Our boys name is pretty much set in stone... We are having lots of problems with a girls name though...
DF mentioned Matilda as I was thinking of something starting with M seeing as DD's starts with A - go to the middle of the alphabet this time... But I'm not sure...

both our dad's middle names are john so we will probbaly have a nicholas john
DH's mum's name is janice and my mums middle name is jane so we will probably have annabelle jane

We find out the sex of our first in just under 2 weeks so for now its still two lists...Eva and Ava I LOVE but dad doesnt... grrr...Charlotte and Chelsea we both like!I also Love Mackenzie but dad doesn't like it as thats my Puppys name and he doesnt want our child named after a dog.... silly reason! heheOh and Isobelle i adore too, dad isnt too keen!for boys we both love Connor, I also love Murphy and Lachlan and Caylan.. middle name will definitely Noel, after my father who passed away not long ago... so it looks most likely to be Connor Noel if its a boy!I'm still waiting for a girls name that we both absolutely adore!

BOYS
Adam

Jesse
Lachie
GIRLS
Ebony
Eden
Eva
George
Jordan
Marissa
Robbie
Rory
I'm not prepared to share our middle names yet though!
Hi! :wave:I'm new to this forum thing, but I am due end of January. I would like to get connected with other mothers in similar situations.
So, dh and I have only thought of boy names, as we think it will be a boy. But, we have our scan next Mon. so we'll see. Anyway, we have Judah or Josiah. I'm leaning towards Judah, while dh is leaning towards Josiah. But, I guess we'll be able to narrow it down in the coming months...we gotta...

Hello! DH and i found out we are having a boy so we decided to call him Raiden craig Macintyre.
Looks like I have managed to talk DH around to my Great Grandmothers name and bub is going to be ...

Goes pretty well with Bella Cate and Daniel Arthur I think
Are totally stuck on a boys name as a "just in case they are wrong" ...

Genevieve or Jaqueline...
Middle names - don't get me started!!
Lis, in regards to a poll - Phoenix Adam vs Adam Phoenix or are you both saying that you don't want the other name at all??
Try and compromise and use both if you can... That way you both get to use the name you want...
xxxDragonFlyxxx
12-10-2007, 07:52 AM
Chelle - I actually have a poll going on another forum LoL so far it's going my way ;)
Widge - Whatever name doesn't get used as a first name will get used as a second name, so it will either be Phoenix Adam or Adam Phoenix.
But I like Phoenix so much that I wouldn't be all that happy with using it as just the middle name simply because he will never get called Phoenix :o

BUT 2 of the Brissy girls from DD's mums group named their daughter the same and now they meet up so regularly it's not funny - thankfully they have different short names for both of them though.

Ok, Its Aaron. He says "Aawon" because he can't pronounce his "r"s. Its popular enough to be able to get pre-made bottles and signs with his name on them (its often the first one) but not enough so that there are 3 other kids in his class with the same name.
Chelle123
13-10-2007, 04:16 PM
Nice name tiptoe. Tyler's name is like that too, a bit popuar, can buy some pre-made stuff but not heaps of them around. Noah seems to be really popular atm, it wasn't when he was born, most seem to be younger than him. However, not much pre-made stuff with his name.
I'm guessing our baby will have everything with her name custom made (Aubrie). I've never even heard of another girl Aubrie in Aus, only in the US from a scrapbooking mag.

Widget's going to kill me for this but I think now that we will have 2 names ready and I'll explain my reasons in a sec. The names are 'Aubrie Clare' which you already know, and jic this baby comes out with red hair, I like 'Laura Jade'.
My DS1 has red hair so its highly likely that this bub will too and I don't want her to be nicknamed 'Strawberry Aubrie'. Redheads cop enough teasing without setting them up for it so I think that's how we'll go (haven't told DH yet though).
I'm ducking for cover from Widget now...

There's nowhere to hide...
*smacks you upside the head*
Didn't we ALL discuss this in an EARLIER thread you had??
Strawberry Aubrie is gorgeous IF she is a red-head - which BTW, you won't know AT birth... I still believe it's really cute and even more feminine!!
DF was born with red, red hair - it's def not red now! It went dark, dark brown (not black but really dark) when he was 2.
I was born with Black hair - it's dark blonde now... Has been since before I can remember too!!
On another note *growls at Chelle* I asked DF about middle names and he just said "I thought you wanted Grahame, to carry on the name" umm, yeah, but I was thinking of using it as a 2nd middle name, not the only one!!
What goes with Genevieve or Jaqueline??
I don't mind if she's a GEGE... Little unsure about GGE though - you do know that that's EGG backwards?? I think I'd like 2 middle names though...
feline11
27-10-2007, 06:54 AM
I've realised we could have a problem - if we have a boy we want to call him Oliver Jordan - OJ yikes!
If a girl - Sarah but cant think of a middle name (his mums name) my mum is still alive and called Georgina which (sorry mum) i dont like and there isnt much you can do with it except for Georgia which i dont think i like either - not that it has to have her name - just thought would be nice if we could :ecomcity: rambling now so will go

Okay Well we have officially decided for sure, our little new baby boy will be named:
If born on anydate in January:
Alexander Robert
If born on the 21st of Jan it will be
Alexander Robert Anthony
(reasoning DH grandfather and brother (both Anthony) were born on the 21st of Jan, it is also my BDay)
Alexander i love,
Robert is DH's name and i though well he got me into this mess so this bub can have Dads name.
Chelle123
04-11-2007, 09:08 PM
That's good reasoning
My DS1 has got red hair so when we knew DS2 was another boy, we had different names for different hair colours: Blonde - Noah, Red - Baxter and I can't remember Brown but I don't think we really expected him to have dark hair anyway.
If this baby has red hair I think she'll be Laura or Maia as I don't want her getting 'strawberry Aubrie'. We won't make a final decision till we see what she looks like.
candyn
05-11-2007, 07:15 AM
Chelle - i like Aubrie, i don't see strawberrie Aubrie as a bad nickname i think it is very cute.
I also love Laura, have always like that name beautiful and elegant.
Go with what your heart says if you keep going back to Aubrie then thats what i would stick with.
I love the name Noah too, my DH is a bit of a stick in the mud with names and i actually mentioned Noah , Isaiah and Elijah to him an he just said NO! Little pooh, the only one we BOTH like was ALexander i like it cause i can call him Alex or Xander, or in my preferred version Alessandro (whoooooo soooooo sexy).

Beautiful names Jasmine.
I think we would have had trouble picking a boys name but the night before we found out the sex, I had probably my first dream about this baby being called Aubrie, then I just had to convince DH that it was the name we'd use. It's grown on him now and he even calls her Aubrie now which is quite nice.

I like your boys name Jas, your girls name is pretty, but I'm a little unsure about having 2 colours as the names... Though, ultimately it is what you and DH decide...
Except in Chelle's case where her daughter WILL be named Aubrie Clare!!
Us, we haven't talked about names in ages but I think Genevieve is going to be "it" just have to work on middle names now!!

Hi widget,
never thought of it as 2 colours before. Amber is my middle name so i thought i would keep with a tradition we started and pass it along. My eldest son has my husbands middle name as his middle name. Am sure that you will pick out the perfect name for your bubs when the time is right.

Gen's the one that keeps coming out of my mouth...
It weird... I'm so anti-shortening of Annabelle!!

When we came up with Tyler's name, we thought we'd call him Ty - but we never have. Can't really shorten Noah although Tyler sometimes calls him 'Noey'.
With Aubrie, we've already decided we don't want her to be called Brie so if it gets shortened, it will be 'Aubs'.

I'm not a fan of shortening names either, which is why we chose Holly...it can't really be shortened to anything as it's already a short name, as for Phoenix, I can't think of anything it could possibly be shortened to, unless you go Nix or Nick...
Either way, I will be calling him nothing but Phoenix :D
Chelle, i'm with the others, still loving Aubrie Clare! And still loving the 'ie' instead of 'ey' too!!

DF calls her Bella - and I abuse him every time too - it's not her name, her name is Annabelle... So when Gen slips out I correct myself...
Funny though, For Gabriel (if bub's is male) DF doesn't want it shortened, but I'd be using Gabe...

im still struggling with names...
i love aubrie, been meaning to comment on that for ages. its sweet.
if i had a girl it would have been Delilah. but not to be..
so at the moment for some reason im stuck on Elijah.
i dont know if i like it yet, but i cant seem to move past it and keep coming back to it, so i think thats what it will end up being.
as for names being shortened- my brothers name id gary and we always clal him "Ga". lol.
my boys are jacob and matthew so obviously they get matt and jake.
so for now the name is Elijah James. what do you think?
as for shortening it, im thinking Eli.

I love the name Elijah and Eli. I'm sure I had it on a list for one of my boys but DH just would not agree.
A note for Widget - On Monday night when we had a family dinner, everyone was trying to give us name ideas (they didn't know we already had one) and BIL came up with Annabelle - I just had a little giggle to myself thinking "V would kill me".
If we get a huge surprise and bub turns out to be a boy ... we have Eli Joel chosen.
Still sticking with Ruby Lily. It seems to go really well with the other names we have used so far. It also helps that it was my Great Grandmothers name and she was a tiny, feisty and really lovely woman who lived to a ripe old age in good health ...
DD is Bella Cate
DD's twin (m/c) is Nikki Lee
DS is Daniel Arthur
DS m/c in 2005 is Sam Elias
So, all pretty old fashioned and yet modern enough to not be really dated.
The names we considered for DD if she was a boy were either Matthew or Michael with Allan as a mn.
DS was going to be Jenna Eve or Meghan Anna if he was a girl.
Chelle ... I love Aubrie - can't stress this often enough and Aubs is a really cute nn.
DON'T EVEN THINK OF CHANGING IT - NO MATTER WHAT COLOUR HAIR SHE HAS !!!!
Is that clear enough????;)

jacob matthew and elijah all being hebrew names. second name on the list is Lucas. but the boys have been watching star wars heaps so now when i see it i think of "lucas Films" lol
