I'm looking at getting a maybe baby second hand over ebay... Do you think this is wise? I mean, saliva etc... Its only $30 compared to the quoted $70 I have got so far...

I am having reservations simply cause its 'used'...

I just looked it up on ebay as i didn't know what one was and there was only one item on there so i gather this is the one you are talking about. My only concern would be is it possible for traces of her saliva to remain there which could react with yours giving you an incorrect reading:confused:

Hi Ally. I used a friends one of these, but it didn't really help us much! I think second hand would be ok, and sterilise it with some solution like you do baby bottles etc. I know it would be a bit weird though hey? But saving $40?!?!

Hi Ally I'd be inclined to buy it new..... :o

It's re-usable so i wouldnt imagine if you gave it a clean that it would retain traces of saliva and give an incorrect reading, otherwise the same would happen if you did it yourself?!? Having used one, that's what I think anyway. Hope that helps.

Yeah thats what I'm thinking Becky... I think I might just fork out the extra $40 for peace of mind.

A maybe baby is a mini microscope that uses your saliva to detect ovulation.

And if it dosen't work at least you know you can get at least $30 back on it by selling in on e-bay :D

Good Luck!

I agree with cheekychops :) It's re-usable and any bacteria found in saliva you would think would only be potentially harmful if immediately transmitted??

In any case i sympathise with your dilemma, as i just bought a second hand breast pump - completely different scenario i know, but still i was worried about health issues. I saved $80 off a new Avent breast pump, and figured if the sterilising equipment couldn't save me from germs then it didn't matter who they came from!.
Best of luck with your choice, but peace of mind is most important, so do what makes you feel comfortable.

Cheers,Lisa.

OK I am like a clean freak worked in a sterilising dept for 7 years spend the extra money..piece of mind :D

I am sure it's fine but I know I just couldn't use it unless I was like really good friends lol
