Hi all...
My 8 month old boy looks like he's about to get his top right tooth - first one! I don't know whether to be excited or scared! (he's breastfed and I just have a new case of thrush).

My question is, does it only hurt as the tooth is pushing on the gum to get out, or does it still hurt after it has poked through?

Thanks :)

Hi there,

If only they could talk.............

From our experience of 2 teeth with DD, they hurt like hell while they were moving up and down underneath the gum but when they actually cut through it was smooth sailing!

I'll let you know in a few days! Andrew's top FOUR teeth are coming through at the moment, one is about to cut and the others will follow shortly I"m sure!

He is ropable probably every second day for a few hours each. But panadol and brauers and teething gel really help a lot. Luckily he still sleeps well. Like a rock actually. Like his dad :)

I would hope that once they cut through that its all downhill from there...fingers crossed anyways!! :D

As soon as that little bugger of a tooth breaks through the gum bub shouldn't be in any pain. That's not to say he hasn't still got another few stilllurking around:) good luck, it does pass!

Thanks guys - he cut his first tooth last night - exactly 8 months old! It's the top right one, and it's so cute! I could hear it on the melamine spoon I was feeding him with today!

None of the 'usual' signs of teething, either. He was fine, thank goodness!
