Hi Ladies
Myself & a few others due in November 07 are in need of your advice/experience.
What will we need for bubs, clothing & wrap wise?
Is it worth getting bonds suits (long sleeve, footsie ones) or are we better of getting shorty ones?
With wraps, are cotton/muslin enough? Would flanalette be too hot?
Thats all I can think of for now, but i'm sure i'll be back with more questions & anyone else due in Nov, jump in.
Should add, I live on the central coast not far from Sydney - should help.
Thanks so much :)

Great thread RB. Did anyone use the newborn sleepbag in Summer? Its wool lined and I was thinking maybe to hot??
Well I didn't have a Nov baby in 06, but did in 05 so hopefully I can be of some help!
When DD was born it was like winter. It was freezing cold! She was born on the 26th (due on the 16th) and no-one could believe how horrible the weather was. I was very thankful to have a couple of warm bonds suits on hand.
Apart from those first couple of days it was warm though! We only used the flanelette baby wraps on those cold days, but would recommend having one on hand. Sometimes nights in Nov can still be cool and if you're outside for any reason it could come in handy. The warmest thing DD wore otherwise was a onesie with no legs but long sleeves.
Singlets are always good to have....nothing cuter than a baby in a singlet and nappy when juct chilling out at home going nowhere, but handy if there was a cool breeze or whatever and needed a bit of extra warmth under her clothes (rare, very rare!)
My suggestion - aim for summer things but have a couple of bonds suits on hand and one or two bunny rugs that you can use JIC. The bunny rugs were great come Autumn anyway so they won't be wasted. We just used them in the pram when going for a walk.

Hi
i had my bub on 18 nov 06-
i used muslin wraps...maybe a few thicker ones for leading up to summer....but i mostly used muslin wraps that i got from target.
I used mainly short sleeve one pieces...but again when he was first born i used the long sleeve bonds suits....so maybe get a couple of these.
Grab a few clothes for the cooler days/nights tho....! hope that helps...

Found out yesterday that bub is a little boy :D So will be looking for the cute blue stuffs :D:D
My last bub was also a Nov bub, born on the 1st but 2 weeks early.
Wraps - used a combination of both flanelette & muslim - depending on weather.
Never used shortie bonds suits only long ones or all in one bodysuits/singlets.
You can still get coolish days in Nov so still need to be prepared for that.

Congratulations!!! It's sooo exciting finding out what you're having! Makes it all feel so much more real!

I might keep a eye on this thread, or maybe I should start a Oct section one, we live on the Gold Coast and I can' t remember what the weather is like at the end of the year lol, and my DS was born in NZ in the middle of winter, so having a baby in a warmer climate is all new to me, if anyone can suggest what us Oct mums to be will need that would be great

Hehe, I have a stalker :p Atleast your not a psycho one......I dont think
My Nov bubby (last year) wore a lot of long sleeve, long leg jumpsuits at night in the first few weeks but mostly shortsleeve or no sleeve suits during the day.
I have some brushed cotton wraps with a bit of stretch in them and they were fantastic at night. A bit warmer than a muslin but not as hot as a flanelette one.
DD was born Nov 2005. I honestly don't remember her wearing much other than a singlet or short sleeve bodysuit once we left hospi.
If we went to the shops I still dressed her the same as if we were home coz the car is/was hot (no air con), then once we got inside she was either in the carrier or in the pram with a blanket over her.
I had a few bonds suits from DS, but she never needed those. She also hated being wrapped so slept in a short sleeve bodysuit with a light blanket over her.
If you already have wintery type stuff then maybe get a couple of things out just in case...the weather has been pretty crazy so far this year so who knows what will be happening in november. But don't stress too much, a cool night is nothing an extra blanket can't fix :)

hi! my ds was born 19th november 06 and i live in melbourne so 4 seasons in one day here lol!!
i found that bonds wondersuits were great but get a size bigger because they are very small fittings. also, for warmer weather short sleeved body suits are great (you can get them from target quite reasonably priced) i found muslin wraps great for summer and if you get the bigger ones (120X120cms) they last for ages. the flannelette ones are good for cool days/nights but are fairly small so best used for newborns. i bought far too many cardigans and hats and only used half of them (was very exciting buying everything when i was pregnant but i went way too overboard!) but it depends on the weather and you can never tell with melbourne!
hope that helps a bit, happy shopping

My DS was born mid-October in Sydney so hopefully this will help a bit...
Wraps: I barely used flannellette wraps as they were too small and hot. I only used them when he was very young and when the nights were cooler. Bigger (120x120 or even 140x140) wraps are best. I used to wrap DS and then had a cotton cellular blanket that I used to tuck in around him (from the chest down) when it was a bit cooler at night. Muslin is nice and light for hot weather, but my DS used to fight his way out of them because they weren't stretchy and he liked to move his arms and suck his hands through the fabric! So I found the best wraps for him were light 100% stretch cotton jersey. Hard to find so I ended up going to Spotlight and buying a few metres and making my own (just cut it, no need to hem) and even though I stopped wrapping him at 6 months he STILL uses those homemade ones today as a 'sheet' over him in bed and as a blanky when we go out in the pram.
Clothes: we had a few long sleeved bonds and target stretch cotton onesies, both with and without feet in them and they did get used a fair bit, esp at night. Christmas Day was freezing last year so it was lucky we had the long sleeved ones! The ones with feet are good for night as you don't have to worry about socks coming off. Also the shortsleeved ones were good for daytime and hot nights. Once it got really hot in mid-late summer, DS basically lived in singlets and nappies, or singlet onesies. In the daytime if we went out he'd wear tshirts and shorts. At night when it was hot I just had him in a singlet and nappy and wrapped in a light cotton or muslin wrap.
Clothes that you can layer are always good, light cotton cardigans/ hoodies were always handy for cooler days. If you are taking bub outside on a sunny day it's good to dress them in a hat and light cotton long sleeved clothes so they don't get sunburnt (although keeping them in the shade is best, it's not always possible IYKWIM)
Hats: don't waste money on beanies etc, they are cute but we hardly used them, too hot! Sunhats with brims on the other hand are invaluable in summer.
Don't forget lots of bibs for when bub starts dribbling, we never seemed to have enough!

Thanks so much for that, much appreciated. I will go to spotlight & get some cotton for wraps because muslin is useless. I found that with MJ.
Need to re-stock on bibs, MJ had so many but they're all pink :o

What ACE1 said!
My god son was born late Nov last yr and only needed the odd full bonds suit so a couple will come in handy and as for flan blankets they are great for any season cause they can be used for prams, floor mats ect...
Found out yesterday that bub is a little boy :D So will be looking for the cute blue stuffs :D:D
:smiliedance: congrats you will now have your pigeon pair.
