Ok so i may be made and i already have two beautiful girls but am thinking of a third,

In some ways i have been expecting twins both times due to twins in the family.

I know it will be hard, incomparable etc. I have friends that have twins but after having two i think it may be a challenge i could face, Call me mad but just wondering and i am sure you would say no that you wouldnt have it any other way??

Ummmm, what can I say???

Firstly, you're nuts if you say I want twins, or triplets or more...

BUT!!!

Having experienced the older child, I can say looking after twins is a breeze compared to DS1. I was such a worrywart with him. I fretted over every little thing. This time around I'm much calmer, just going with the flow and it's good. Sure, it's damn busy, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

What I don't like is the lack of one-on-one time with the twins, even though I make sure I set time each day to have a 'conversation' and play with just one of them. It's also hard having to deal with DS1. I think looking after twins is easier than looking after an annoying, cheeky 3.5yo!! I also don't like the fact that everywhere we go, we get stopped and asked questions but as they are getting older it seems to get better. I guess it's because they're not so little now, and old ladies just love newborns that they're not stopping me quite so often...

Having said this - I wouldn't change it for the world - I love my babies and DS1. It's hard work, it's challenging, but so damn rewarding at the same time.

Be interesting to see other people's comments on this thread. You can hope for twins, but don't be disappointed if you don't get them! Good luck anyway. :hugs:

From what I have discovered of the people I know with twins, its not something they ever thought about or wished for it just happened. But you never know if its in your gene pool then maybe, just maybe! The shock won't be as great for you if it should happen!

We had twins last September and it was nothing short of a huge shock for us. I would never in a BILLION years have imagined us with twins. We had two little girls (sounding familar) and we decided (well lets say - were still debating) to have no. 3 when along came 3 and 4.

Having said all that, its turned out for the best. I love it all. It has been hard work here and there but on the whole its very very special.

I truly believe you get what you can deal with! Everybody copes - its life! You would manage.

I don't know anyone who has multiples who actually wanted multiples. Having said that it is the best thing that ever happened to us. It is busy, demanding and at times sanity threatening but it is also the most rewarding life experience.

I actually feel sympathy for parents of singletons that they will never experience this. I agree with andrewsmum that it is easy if you've had singletons first. I was definitely more relaxed when i had the twins.

If I were to fall pregnant again I would be ecstatic if I were carrying another set of twins.

This used to happen to a friend of ours. SHe was so over it in the end.

Oh...going for the third theory!! Have seen this happen four times resulting in twins. Of course they wouldn't change it now.

It's not so much that i wish for or am trying to predict what might happen next time but i guess it is acknowledging the possibility.
Of course we are all blessed with what we have.

Hi we were very excited to find out we were having twins!!!! We had been trying for 5 years, and had lost 8 babies before the twins (5 ectopics/3 m/c)
Our rollercoaster was over, we were having a boy and a girl!!!

To top it off, when the twins were 5 months old (they were 10 weeks prem they spend 5 weeks in hospital) their actual age 3 months development) we found out we were expecting again and this natural pregnancy when to full term a boy Dylan.

I feel so luck to have experienced both twins and singleton birth and with my singleton we were able to take him home straight away... the healing..............
We are the luckiest people in the world
cheers Nanette
