Hi there, I too have never had a baby shower, but I am with this baby... I have had some really good ideas, 1 was to get everyone to bring a baby photo and the idea is for everyone to write down which photo matches which person, the person with the most right gets a prize... Charades is always fun... Is there going to be males at the baby shower, if so another idea is to fill baby bottles full of beer and then the male is too suck the beer as fast as they can through the teet until all finished, the first too win gets a little something, or perhaps just a handshake... I could keep going, but I will leave room for others... If you still want some ideas, just push baby shower ideas into your search engine and you should get plenty ideas... good luck :p

Hi Jessica,
Here are a few ideas.
Buy about 6 different flavoured baby foods. Each person gets a plastic spoon and tastes the food, then has to guess what each one is. Very funny as some people really think they are experts.
Also get some toilet paper and each person has to guess the mum to be's girth by pulling a length of toilet paper off the roll(can be offensive to new mum if she is not thick skinned!!)
Another is each person has to write down from a-z pregnancy related words. Mum to be also does this and whoever gets the most to agree with MTB wins.
You can do a nursery rhyme quiz - give the first line and the guest can finish it, or you can ask little trivia questions like, Who did the dish run away with???
If you need anymore as this are not your thing, let me know.
Cheers

friend organised mine and was brilliant
we went to spotlight and crazy clarks and bought all kinds of beads, stickers, glitter glue, sparkles and shapes. at spotlight (or was it lincraft???...anyway, any crafty shop will do) we got 16 rectangular pieces (15x20cmish) of coloured felt material (blue, pink, purple). Each person at the baby shower got a felt patch and shared the craft glue around and went wild with the bits and pieces making a special patch for the baby (which I later sewed together and then glued and sewed onto a red backing and hung on DD's wall). I gave everyone ideas at the beginning for themes, including:
under the sea
at the zoo
music
dance
animals
outer space
backyard
circus
farm
numbers/letters
etc...
...and although everyone had trepidations about doing it, EVERYONE's without exception ended up looking brilliant!! Ppl actually got really into it, quite competitive and protective ("you've been hogging the gold glitter glue for the last 10 minutes!!" etc...yes, grown, professional women and a few men!). It now hangs proudly on her wall and she loves looking at it, esp the ones with lots of glitter on them!!!
Cost all up was probably about $60 but well worth it!!!
PS. I got everyone to sign their name on their patch somewhere, either with glitter glue, a black material pen or in any other creative way they liked. When she's older I'm sure she'll have fun pointing out who did which....and noticing that mine was one of the least wonderful! ;)
these are brillant - thank you - keep them coming!!! :p

if you like, i can email you a photo of the final result of the wall hanging, so if you go ahead with it (or ever organise one for someone else!!) you and everyone else can have a picture in mind of what the final product might (generally) look like. my friend had one done for her baby and she brought it along to the shower and it helped give us ideas.
LMK if you are interested....

Here's another game you can play.
Each guest is given a paper plate and a felt pen. They all have to place the plate on top of their heads and then draw what they think the baby will look like. It is pretty amusing to see the creations. One person at my baby shower even drew teeth on the baby!!
The sculling drink out of babies ottles is pretty good value also. I used extra strong red cordial at my party. I think everyone was very shocked at how hard it was as it took a lot of sucking to finish those bottles.
Another variation to formentioned a-z of pregnancy game is to write down on little squares of paper each letter of the alphabet. You then draw one letter at a time out of a container, call out which letter it is and the first person to call out a fitting response wins that letter. Once all the letters have been drawn, the person who won the most amount of letters wins a prize. Be warned however it can get a bit rude at times!
Hope this helps and that the baby shower is a huge success!

Hey Jessie,
I didn't have a baby shower, but this a game I heard of from someone else....
Buy some tinned/jar baby food. Blind fold people, get them to taste the baby food and see if they can name the flavours. Apparently some taste quite nasty, and others not too bad!

I threw a baby shower for my friend last year and we had some awesome games, one of my favourites, that I'll be using at my shower in a couple of weeks, is to get a bunch of index cards (or just some pieces of paper) and hand one out to everyone along with a pen. They then have to write down a question that a new mother may have, either about what to do with the baby or how to cope with house duties and feeding or whatever comes to their minds. They then pass them back, you shuffle them and hand them back out - with the writing face down and everyone has to write an answer to their original question on the new card and then hand them back in. You then read out the question on one side and flip it over and read the answer, which has obviously been given for a different question - it made for some big belly laughs!! Like, what do I do if my husband just won't help out with the dishes, and the answer is - cover his bottom in a barrier cream. Some of the mis-matches were hilarious. My girlfriend kept all the cards and put them in her baby book. Baby showers are AWESOME fun - good luck with yours.

I am having a baby shower on sunday and would like to know of any "predictors" of the baby's sex games/methods that are out there. Just for fun, as i know they probably not right. I have been told at the 20week scan its a girl, can't bring myself to wash the pink things though
Anyways, thanks
Hi Rainbowbrite
There are some 'old wives tales' for predicting the sex of your baby on the following website: http://www.childbirth.org/articles/boyorgirl.html You could certainly do the 'Hang a thread with a needle over your belly' for fun at the baby shower - people have even been known to do this when not pregnant to see whether their next child will be a boy or girl.
If you put any old answer into the quiz it will tell you which answer predicts a boy or girl which you could print out prior to your party.
Have fun!!
Hilary
I have my baby shower coming up at the end of April and we found a few fun games to play:
Dirty Nappy Game: (if you don't mind wasting some disposable nappies) you get a bunch of disposable nappies in a bag and in one of the nappies put a healthy glob of peanut butter inside, whoever picks the dirty nappy out of the bag wins the prize!!!
Baby Bingo: get some ruled up cards and everyone has to fill out in their boxes what they think the mum to be will receive as presents. When the mum to be is opening the presents everyone marks off their card - whoever marks off all of their boxes yells "Baby Bingo" and wins a prize.
I found all of these games on the internet when I did a search, there are so many different baby shower websites out there!!
Also ideas on themes as this is my second baby (I didn't get a baby shower with my first) and I have pretty much got everything I need for this baby we themed the baby shower "Bear Necessities Shower" so the gifts would be things like nappies, bibs, powder, baby bath and creams etc. There are many different themes out there I found this one on one of the websites I searched.
Good luck with the planning and I hope you have a blast :D

Thanks for that Bubhub. i just did the test and came out with this result:
You have a 38% chance of having a boy.
And you have a 61% chance of having a girl.
Well hopefully the 20 week scan and this are right :D Time will tell though Health is more important.
i have done a number of baby showers this is my list -
**Smelly nappy = get a few dispoable nappites smear them with some smelly food and you have to smell the nappy to guess what it is, smear things like tuna, vegemite, peanut butter, spice paste etc - makes great photo's of people smelly nappies
**Guess the belly size = but use a ribbon and a pen pass it around marked with a starting point and everyone guess the girth, placing a line and name, mum-to-be gets to keep the memory of the ribbon in her baby box, just make sure at the end of the game you mark where it actualyl was.
**memory game = ten items, 10 seconds to remember them, cover and then 10seconds to write them down, most wins - a lot harder than people think
** Belly Mask = I create bellymasks and have been to a number of baby showers and created the mask at the shower with everyone helping with the plaster, other people have brought kits from me to do it at the shower, the one I like the most is have the mask created before the baby shower and then get everyone to write something on the inside of the mask, which leaves the outside to be decorated, send me a PM if more details required for this one
**food tasting always a good one
**Spelling = jumble up some words read spell them out to everone to write down and the first to unjumble them wins
**jelly babies = fill a baby bottle up with jelly babies and guess how many
**** Jewlery = I think this is a must depending on your taste, I get a bangle really big and daggy some times, with beads present it to everyone passing it around the group everyone saying out loud a wish to the mum-to-be and she has to wear it until the baby is born - NON negotiable regardless of what she might be wearing for the day, if seen without it think up some penality $5 every time she is without it, money then gets given back to her in money box for baby when born. - Do this last to finish your games as it can be emotional, every one normally has a tear or two :)
hope it helps

at my baby shower we got someone to measure my belly, then u pass around some cotton or string whatever everyone has to cut a piece off to how big they think you are and who ever is closes gets a prize.
I've thrown several Yoga- themed- baby showers where all party-goers are guided through pre-natal and post-natal yoga and stress-management techniques specifically designed to enhance this exciting and transforming time in a new mother's life.
Yoga Parties are perfect for those who want a nurturing and healthy alternative to the typical hung-over-the-next-morning kind of party. And hosting yoga at your next gathering is something your family & friends will not soon forget!
If you'd like more info, you can check out: http://www.brisbaneyogastudio.com/yogaparties.html
Guessing the ETA of your baby:
You will need:
*Little plastic babies (probably from toy shop) you will need boys and girls babies so if you can get 2 lots with different colour nappies ie blue for boys and pink for girls or whatever you can get
*Plastic cups
*Water
*Food Colouring
*Pen and paper for host
Place the babies in the bottom of the cup
Mix water and food colour and pour over babies to just cover them
Freeze them
For the game:
Hand a cup to each person
As you do record their name
They will need to guess the sex of their baby (whether it has a blue or pink nappy)
They will also need to guess the birth time of their baby and by doing this they need to estimate how long it will take for the ice to melt to reveal the colour of their baby's nappy, the one who is the closest to their time wins. The ice has to melt completely though, no cheating.
I hope this makes sense as it is a real fun game....

I had a really good baby shower. i was lookin at some baby magazines and i seen this review of a ladies baby shower but she was rich and had it catered for, I;m not rich so i copied some of the ideas for my shower. I made some cupcakes and got little baby dolls and put ribbon around them like a little skirt and put them on top of the icing and sprinkles on the cupcakes. they looked really good and everyone commented on them. really easy to do.
