View Full Version : I think bub is a bit.............
..constipated , he has started having some vegies for tea now, the last week it has just been pumpkin and some corn purered (sp)he loves it, but today he seems to be grunting a lot and has done a few small poo's quite thick!Sorry TMI:o
He is almost 7mths and bf any ideas?
I am not to keen on giving him coloxel , any other ideas?
Is he in pain?
Poos do get more solid as solids are introduced but unless they are small, hard and causing pain (crying, not just grunting), it's not constipation.
If it does go on to constipation, some watered down pear or prune juice will help. Remember to offer more water now, too.

Oh no!! Not him too!!
I was panicking because DS started going very infrequently (which is how his sister's chronic constipation started) and to cut a long story short I've started drinking goats milk and soy milk (although I still have cows in my tea!) and he's going every 3 days.
Could be worth a try.
Also, can you make him drink HEAPS of water? This helps DD :)
DS goes every 2 days and boy does he go :barf: just today very small and was grunty getting it out then went again few mins later but only a tiny bit.

Have you given him sultanas?? (My kids were eating sultanas at his age so thought I'd ask.) They make them go REALLY well. Kiwi fruit worked for Matthew too.
Have you tried...
Prune Juice, sugar and water, pureed apple/fruit?
There is another product called INFANTS FRIEND its all natural, and helps with wind, and "moving" things along....
Good luck:fingerscrossed:
We had problems with dd2 having trouble pooing when she started eating. Make sure you give water with every meal.
Add prunes (soak in warm water first then mush up) to food - works wonders :)
However, it's only constipation if the poo is hard, kind of dry and like pellets. Plus, bub will probably cry when he's trying to poo.
Massaging his tummy in a clockwise position helps to encourage the poo to move. I used to do this after dd2 had had her night bath.
Highly recommend you have a look at this link re constipation in babies/toddlers:

I was going to say the same thing. I find if Katie hasnt been for a couple of days and seems uncomfortable I give it that morning and by end day we have a couple of poos. might be a coincidence but has happened every time...
