Hi there,

Ive been stocking up and getting a stash of Cothies. Most are all in ones (like swadelbee's and Bek's Pul Pockets of Monkey Undies!) :smiliedance: But am struggling with what material is best to use for liners.. I'll probably cut most of my own, but I saw a nappy with Changable liners (like they snapped in) Are they any good?? Whats the best to use absorbacy wise? and with the pockets, I would have a liner in teh front as well as stuffing the pocket (wouldn't I  ) Ohh Do they offer Degree's in Cloth.. I need one!!!

The snap in "liners" that you saw in that nappy are probably just absorbent inserts.. not liners. What kind of nappy was it?

Liners aren't meant to be absorbent.. basically they allow the pee to pass through the liner into the absorbent part of the nappy so bub's bum stays dry.. also means that the poo is more likely to stain the liner instead of the nappy..

I make my own liners.. I just cut up microfleece or polarfleece or micropolarfleece from Spotlight..

 Hope this helps

Jessie

Helps ALOT!! Thanks! Was wondering what the deal was and your answer cleared it up!

The snap in liners were on a mother nurture nappy - can't remember which exact beand, but they advertised you could just unsnap the liner and snap in a new one (without changing whole nappy)

Thanks Heaps for the info - still learning what the go is! (but enjoying the process!)

Yep, I just chopped up a meter of 100% polyester fleece from Spotlight into hourglass peices, and there's more then enough liners for our terry flats and fitted nappies.
Pocket nappies that you stuff don't need liners because the nappy inner is already a liner iykwim.

Just make sure that whatever fleece you get is 100% poly, no cotten content at all- or it will hold moisture instead of just letting it pass through.

That would be a Berry Plush - but it's not a liner it's the booster.
They are a beautifully lush nappy, but the claim that you can use a booster, unsnap, then resnap in another booster is a bit of a gimmick (in imo anyway). The cover part gets a bit wet and smelly and there's no way I'd reuse it over and over again.

Remember:
A booster is the absorbent part of the nappy.
A liner is just to keep bub dry and doesn't absorb at all.

Liners are only needed for fitteds, flats, prefolds, but not for AIO's and pockets as these already have liners sewn in.

Oh!! thanks so much. Just another Q, Do I need Boosters for AIO's and Pockets?? Is that what I would put in the pockets?? and if so, whats a good material for Boosters??!!! (Oh Lordy, I am so so clueless)

An AIO is the "complete" nappy. You whack it on with nothing else to do.
A pocket it basically a cover that you stuff with absorbent material. You can use anything, from terry flats, to flannels, to microfibre cloths, etc.

The most absorbent materials are bamboo and hemp. If you buy a pocket nappy they should come with a booster.

Hi Em
The nappies from Bek shouldn't need a liner. AIO or pocket nappies don't usually - it's already there, 'built-in'.

AIO's should already have their 'booster' material.
Pockets sometimes do, sometimes don't There are hemp inserts on Monkey's Undies
Usuallyi fyou've paid under $20 it won't include your insert/booster.

If you want boosters to go inside your pockets you can use microfibre cleaning cloths, they work great  I got mine in a packet of six - Kenco brand - for $11 or $12 and I've seen them at Kmart too
