Wondering if anyone elses bub has developed a flat spot on their head.

DS2 always lays with his head in the same position, to the right and looking up. If that makes sense. He has developed quite a serious flat spot because of this. The health nurse said to give him more tummy time but he still favours looking to the same side.

What worries me is that when you try to get him to turn the other way he fights or it seems like he hasn't got the range of motion to move it that way comfortably.

Have got a Dr appt tomorrow so will ask her about it, but jsut wondered if anyone else has had this.

DD1 developed a flat spot on her head at about 2 months. No matter how much tummy time we had it made no difference - she just had a soft skull and was prone to it. At age 2 she has outgrown it and her head is now completely round.

If baby really hates turning his head a certain direction you may want to consider taking him to a chiro or physio to check that his neck is ok.

We were told we could get a helmet made for DD1 but decided against it - it all fixed itself up in the end.

Troy has a bad one, with a bulge at the bottom. It seems to be improving slightly. He hates tummy time, so is always sitting up in the pram or lying on his play mat.

No my girls never got it but family members did. I have heard physio helps with extreme cases.

Isaac has a bad flat spot, since birth he has always favoured lying with his head to the right. I think it was because he was lying this way in my womb, he just hates lying any other way. Both GP and pediatrician say it wont damage them at all just cosmetically speaking he will have a wonky shaped head. My GP suggested I get a special thing from a baby shop to put around his neck when he is sleeping, but I have found that a rolled up cloth nappy does the trick.
As a boy I think it is worse because they will always have short hair, it is quite noticeable already. Though lots have mums have said that once they start rolling over and crawling, he might sleep differently and it will even out - I hope so!
