Was this Hamish and Andy???? Not impressed if it was cause they will put someone else on bagging cloth but not me:mad:

Hmm gives me hope that I can become a journalist - hey if you don't even have to research properly I am sure I could spend 6 mins a day doing a quick google and writing down what came up regardless of it is still relevant information.

Did anyone read the Herald Sun article or watch Sunrise? I would like to. I was talking to Mum and she was saying that they concluded its equal environmentally. I said, "How?" Nappies in landfill for many hundreds of years? Basically it depends how you cloth (or disposables for that matter) on how it will affect the environment. Also people who use the toilet use more water if they flush each time.

its really easy. They just used Old style flats for the study. Like some-one said in a diff thread, "why isnt the data based on the new MCN's?" Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Herald Sun cloth vs disposables (http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,22014013-24331,00.html?from=public_rss)
"The Australian Consumers Association agrees, saying it's a drain on water to wash cloth nappies, but disposables use more energy and create landfill."
Its a study from the UK also and calculates greenhouse gases. I don't drive to the laundromat but do use my washing machine. Granted its not an energy saver but I wash my otehr clothes in there too. I only wash nappies every 2-3 days. Meanwhile I wash several other loads in between.
I can't see in my experience how I am using that much energy using cloth. Or water for that matter. I actually try to limit my washing where I can.
have a look at the www.ozclothnappies.org (http://ozclothnappies.wordpress.com/) blog for a quick discussion of the media attention yesterday
