hey all :)

I noticed today - during several feeds that Jack is jumping on and off my nipple... a lot more than he used to?? could this be an issue with supply/?? or a sore throat?? He has been going between boob and bottle for 10 weeks now.. so I dont think it is anything to do with nipple confusion...

any ideas on what it COULD be would be wonderful- it is driving me NUTS

Hi there!

I found my ds would do the same which worried and frustrated me (sometimes to tears). I was then told that it could be wind so I then started giving him a burb as soon as he started doing it. Hey presto; it worked!!!

Try the burping thing and see how you go...

Hope this helps!

My DD did the same thing when she was younger. I spoke to by pediatritian (sp) and he said not to worry unless bub gets any symptoms of dehydration. I just perservered and she got over it. Aren't they funny little creatures:)

Hi,
I had all mine do that at one time or another..... It could be as simple as he's just a sticky nose, and lets go to look at you or maybe he heard a nosie of some kind. And has let go to say what was that?? Or it could be the wind thing, I don't think it would be a sore throat as he would be leting you know by crying and so on!!
Hope this helps and good luck with the BF...:)

Brandon used to do it and I didn't know why for at least a couple of weeks.

With him it ended up being wind. It got worse in our cause and I tried a heaps of different brands of wind drops finally finding out Infacol worked best for us and fixed the problem.

We've been having the same problem with our 5 1/2 week old - with poor suction, wind, grumpiness, mucky nose, tense body while feeding... He's been really antsy.

I just found out today what I think it is, foremilk-hindmilk imbalance. Today I fed from the same boob every 2 feeds (ie. right breast two feeds in a row, left twice...) Before changing - about 15 mins before I think he's going to wake for a feed, I've been expressing about 20-30ml of foremilk. The feeds today have been so settled, and I haven't had to give him Infant's Friend today at all, and no screaming with wind! I also put him in his bassinette wide awake tonight while I had dinner, and he gurgled himself contentedly to sleep, which he's never done. He's usually been sooky about it and had a good scream (so we've had to cuddle him to sleep then put him down). He has fed in half the time and only burped a couple of times, seems that there might be light at the end of the tunnel.

Looks like our little bub might have been on a sugar high and lactose overload...

Good luck.

I love this forum for that! :D

Jade did the same and for the same reasons as others have said, burping. Now she does it to have a sticky beak at what's going on around her... I can no longer read while I'm feeding, she tries to grab the book.

Sounds just like my Jade!! Gone are the days when i could feed and read, or eat, or type, or what ever esle!! She will let go and try and grab at what ever i've got... And if some one sits next to me....well then she on off on off, talking and giggliing on them!! :p
