Heya all,

i was just wondering if anyone elses baby pulls him/her self up in the bath. My DD does this everytime she has a bath and will not sit down no matter how hard i try to get her to sit. I have plenty of toys in the bath but all she wants to do is stand up.

Also when changing her nappy, she rolls over all the time and it is almost imposible for me to get a nappy on her. i try to get her attention to look up but she just rolls over

talk about frustrating

Any suggestions on what i could do????

With the bathing, we got Shelby away from the shallow-ish baths after about two. The deeper baths mean you actually have to hold the head completely but he loves it and completely relaxes.
As for the nappy changing, I'm no expert, but what I do is just have aconversation with him - not in baby talk, just like two mates - and keep him occupied and relaxed so much so that by the time he realises I'm changing him, I'm all done.

Well ive found still using the bath seat helps with my bubs as this stops him from trying to make a get away or at least restricts him heh.
With nappy changes there isnt too much you can do it gets worse trust me  My bubs now sits himself up thinking he is soooo clever all the while im trying to get the nappy on & freaking out that he doesnt fall off etc. Ive found that taking the toy of the moment wherever you change bubs helps as they talk to it or play with it & it keeps them occupied for a few secs but you gotta start being quick as this is really the only way to save the struggle have everything ready then put bubs down & quickly change nappy while they have the toy.
Good luck :)

The bath thing is a real pain - I am constantly worried ds will slip and knock a tooth out:( It was a huge struggle to stop him from standing in the bath and in the end we ended up letting him and just having our hands right there just in case. It's a bit of a pain, but easier than making bathtime a struggle! Also, we have noticed that now we let him stand he has less want to. We are also trying to find some good stick on thingies for the bottom of the bath to prevent slipping.

At nappy change time I give him something to play with that isn't a toy - something I wouldn't normally let him play with - atm it's a chunky bracelet of mine, but have also used the bonjella tube, roll on sunscreen bottle, sudocrem tub, stuff liek that. Because they are novel they usually hold his attention. Works best if I sit him on the change table and give it to him, then once he's absorbed in it lay him down and get to work!! The 'toy' never leaves the change table. This is working really well atm!!

Maybe I'm a hard mum but if my kids stood up on the third time they were out of the bath. Even from a young age it didn't take long to figure they had to sit in the bath.

I'm with Rell on this one. If Liam stands up (he is 16months old) he gets told to sit down and made to (nicely) and then if he does it again, i tell him that he'll get out. If he then does it the 3rd time, i grab the towel and get him out, regardless of whether or not he is all washed (as long as the personal bits are clean) and dry him off and into his pj's.

With the changing the nappy thing, give your DD something (book or teddy) and talk to them whilst changing.
Ciao

All the suggestions you've gotton so far are good. We had/have similar wriggling problems on the change table - and found that we put a mobile thingy / attaches to the change table ( one like you put on the pram) and he loves it.

With the bath - Ds is not standing in it yet - but I think I'll be with the tough mummies on this one - 3 strikes/stands and you're out.:D

if bubs stands in the bath what about using one of those shower things (they plug onto the tap and look like a shower head on a hose) - to wash bubs??? that way she can stand until clean... then take her out???

its' hard when they become more independent and determined!!!

We've got a strap on our change table which is great for stopping J falling off, and also means she can't wriggle tooooo much:rolleyes: . Definitely try the toy idea though. :)

heya all,
Thanxs for all your suggestions, i have tried giving dd toys to play with and she still rolls over, so far what is working is have a conversation but i still have to be quick. I didn't think that would work but it is working so far.

Bath time i never had a bath seat for her, so i have just been washing her and gettting her out once she does it, i'm sure she will soon learn

Thanxs again
