do you lie?

This might be a silly poll to some but I would like to know if people lie. Of course people lie but how often. Im a very open person and I dont lie very much at all where as my DH seems to lie alot. You dont have to comment if you dont want to but please take the poll.

I tend to 'round down' to my DH the cost of things sometimes:laughing: BUT he knows I do it.Like that new microwave was $200 but it really cost $215. He knows, he just doesn't care!It's more an 'injoke' than lying.

Everything else though I'm 100% honest to the point that I get into trouble sometimes for being too honest:eek:.

When I was younger I used to lie about stupid, silly things don't know why really:confused:.I have found it's a lot easier to be honest though and face the consequences as they come.

I wouldn say i lie i just dont tell the whole truth about somethings. EG i bought him some girls tracksuit pants coz they were on special and i swore everyne to secerey thinking he wouldn wear them if he knew. He knew all along just didn care.

My dh doesnt know i smoke...i dont smoke non stop but i do when i drink. (thank god i am ttc and havent had a drink in about 2 months......i have smoked for the last 3 years, at parties, at functions....at our pub! blah blah blah!

DP and I were talking last week about people who lie and wondered how do they keep up with all the lies? Dont they get caught out? And why do they lie? Everyone knows they are lying and it just makes people not want to be friends with a person who lies all the time.

I dont lie about stuff to hurt peoples feelings. Or to be deliberatly deceptive. I might be like oh yeah It didnt cost that much saying it in a funny voice. mines more sarcasim and joking. My DH knows by the tone in my voice.


Was anyone else wondering who said they lie about big stuff... Gee im curious now..

I dont THINK I lie.. apart from the occasional white fib to soften issues ..

I dont lie to DH .. about ANYTHING .. even money - I fess up ..

I only lie about money like i got a credit card a few months ago for emergences ( seriously i have only used it about 3 times since i got it for nappies or food) and still havnt said a word:o he asked where I'm getting the money when we have none i say i have saved it or it's change from the car, not too bad cause if he knew i had it he would max it out cause he can kwim?

I tell small little teeny tiny fibs about prices of kids clothes... BUT THEY WERE ON SPECIAL AND I SAVED SO MUCH!!! (keep in mind i am usually stupid enough to leave the tags attached... :o ) My DH knows that i round down anyway :D

Really i couldn't lie about big things, trying to keep track of everyday normal stuff is enough without trying to keep up with added stories. And of course there is the moral side as well... :p

I think it is great that you are so honest but really you have told a lie (abet a "white" lie") if your answer above is No. And if it is Yes then that is good too I suppose.

I frequently white lie about things. I frequently lie by omission, too, but not on big things.

I've told big lies in the past to get myself out of situations that I really needed to be out of. I harbour guilt about those situations still ... though not from the lying.

I haven't lied to my husband about anything much. There must have been a few things here and there but nothing I can recall now and so nothing big.

that may seem weird to some,
but an ex was a compulsive liar
I would rather have trust straight up than
have to lie about things...

My hubby and I never ever lie to each other
or anyone else,
it was an important relationship building block

i fib but only with minor things.. but the line stops if sumones gonna get hurt by the lie told.

all in all im a pretty honest person..

my MIL is a compulsive lier and has hurt so many family & friends from her lies .. i know 1st hand how lies can affect peopes lives

I do lie sometimes. I definitely always round down the cost of things! And if it's for DD I sometimes don't even tell him because he has no idea about what she's got (although that isn't really lying is it? Just not sharing some information!:D )

And I will white lie about things sometimes so as not to hurt someones feelings. But not about big things!

I probably tell the truth too much if that is at all possible....

I cant help it im brutally honest...

But dont just always burst things out, If i am asked something I will always tell the truth, I believe you shouldnt ask a question if you ae not prepared for the answer....

Its not that I dis like people who lie, I just think that coming from a teenager who lied all the time about everything....EvERYTHING... I just feel like I cant do it anymore....

I do tell some lies to my kids not alot just pretty much the ones about tooth fairy santa and stuff.... Otherwise I am pretty honest to them too...

I try not to sugar coat much for them...
