ok. just a question.
does this heightened sense of smell go away? i cant remember?
im having huge stuggles with it at work, as i work in an office enviroment and theres always someone eating something.
this morning someone had porridge and it really grossed me out to the point i had to leave the room and go outside.
I just cant remember if it goes away or if it stays throughout the whole pregnancy?
Thanks
I didn't have that troublee at all but others have told me it goes away after the first trimester
Nope didn't go away for me, i had it all the way through my pregnancy..
Loved the smell of the isle at woolies with all the fabric softeners and cleaning products.
and absolutely hated the smell of cooking meat.. made me sick every time could smell it a mile away.:barf:
Mine didn't...it stayed pretty hightened through the whole thing, but I think it was worse in the first trimester, because its so "new", but by 35 weeks you are just so "over it" you couldn't care less...iykwim...
I still hate certain aftershave DP used to wear during my pregnancy.....and smoke, alcohol:barf: Good luck!!!!:fingerscrossed:
It stayed with me during the whole pregnancy. Which was a real cow with #2 as I work on a street that is door to door restaurants!
Walking to the bank in the morning and having to pass both Subway and KFC nearly had me heaving on the street - I used to hold my breath and gt past them as fast as I could!

oh ok thanks.
not exactly what i wanted to hear, but i guess yeh ill get used to it.
its annoying because i can smell something so strongly and noone else can even smell it.
lol i cant go near the cleaning aisle at the supermarket, it makes me sick. i stand at the end of the aisle and get the boys to grab my stuff.
food is the main thing at the moment making me sick.
I wonder why this happens though. why do you need to smell better while pregnant. might just have to ask the doctor this...
Yep, whole pregnancy for me too. I used to have to make sure our bedroom door was closed if I was cooking as the smell would get trapped there. (small house) When I went to bed it would really gross me out.
And I had a thing for the smell of wet dirt and potting mix (mmmm Bunnings!) as well as eucalyptus oil.
Good luck. It was worse in the first trimester when I had morning sickness. Once I stopped wanting to throw up all the time, I just found smells difficult and would sometimes need to leave certain places.

My sense of smell has never left me, It started when i was pregnant, & has never gone away.
:D
I managed to offend a work collegue with #2 as well - he used to ride his pushie to work, and use the shower in the disabled toilet when he got to work.
I used the disabled toilet (cause there was more room!) and I had to ask him to not using that "filthy stinking soap" anymore because the smell made me want to hurl!

I got a very hightend sence of smell as soon as I fell pregnant.
I could smell honey on flowers outside on the other side of the yard. The flowers normaly have no smell:eek:
For the whole pregnancy I couldn't handle having smells on my body or around me.
I used oderless deoderent. Body wash and moisteriser with no perfume.
My dh was baned from using scented products as it would rub off on me and I could smell it.
The list go's on...........
It is now 12 weeks after dd was born and it's sort of still haning around. I keep hiding dh's deoderent and colngne (sp?) so he can't use them as the smell is way to strong.
I sure hope it go's soon as I used to love wearing purfume.
I had the smell thing really really bad but it did settle down at about 16 weeks for me and wasn't a problem for the rest of the pregnancy. Sounds like it is different for everyone so I hope it passes for you soon:)

THe smelling thing was one of the only things I suffered whilst pregnant. It was awful and lasted up until I was past 41 weeks. Between 41 and 42 weeks, I was in hospital for most of it though, so I wasn't really near lots of smelly stuff... but I easily stomached chocolate when I hadn't during the rest of my pregnancy...

I only found out at 24 weeks, but I had it before I found out, and lasted up until after I gave birth... I still now cant stand the smell of things that I couldnt stand while pregnant..
Such as raw meat, meat cooking or coffee....
Mine changed.
It started off awful, teetered away to bearable in the second trimester and then came back in the last few weeks.
I've found that I am still very sensitive to the smells that used to get me in the last few weeks (raw meat, the dishwasher :barf: ) but the things from early on (tinsel, certain brands of deodorant) don't bother me.

I loved the smell of tomatos when I was pregnant with Skye, hated the smell of meat being cooked with both pregnancies and also hated the smell of chicken with Skye. (have now gone off chicken) every time I walked passed a butcher or deli I would want to :barf:
