Trainee Doula's-Where do u find your ladies?

Hi All,

Am thinking of doing the Doula training but am just concerned about how you can find ladies to assist during the training?

I don't really have any friends/family that are having babies, so where are other places & ways that I can find them?

Also... I am going to enrol nxt yr into the bachelor of midwifery. Do you think that it is worth becoming a doula in the mean time?

I was really lucky and have found all my lovely ladies on bubhub!

I would also LOVE to be a middie, but desided to become a Doula until i have the time and my son is older before doing the midwifery course!

When I finally get around to doing midwifery I dont think I will do the doulaing as it is a big committment then with family, travel and study - its just not practical for me. When I was a trainee I was very lucky that a friend and a couple friends of friends were pg and willing to give me a go.

Edited to add, the doula training is highly focused on support so its certainly a very very valuable contribution to any birth regardless of if you use it as a doula or not. Im not sure how much midwifery focus' on support vs medical.

I had 1 birth off of bubhub as we all saw my beautiful clients testimonial ~ lovley couple:yes: and another was from a referal from another doula...

Im with you Mel i wanna do the midwifery in a few yrs but doula is great for me now cas i love it im doing my passion as well as having time with the kids. what job do you have whee you can stay at home with your kids most of the time and continue your passion? there are a few out there but not many so i am very blessed!!:thumbsup:

Yep i agree! and iv been really lucky all my ladies have toddlers so are happy for me to bring brayden along (although i dont take him to postnatals) hes made some great lil friends :)

hi i am doing the doula course to give me a higher ranking for middy course next year i am excited as my kids are now old enough. to those that are waiting until kids older hang in there i have waited ten years and am now just seeing the light at the end of the tunnel
