I was booked on for an elective ceaser on 25thJune we arrived at 11:30 as we were told to go to theatre at 1:30. When we were in the room this changed to 2:30 so at about 1:45 somone came down and wheeled me up stairs to theatre. As we were waiting a nurse came and told us that a baby was in feotal distress and this was an emergency ceaser that would come first so the anethersist (sorry cant spell) came and put a drip in my hand as i hadnt been able to drink since 9:30 we were then wheeled into day surgery to wait. While in day surgery we were then told that a mum had gone into labour and my doc had to go and deliever this bub and we would be about another hour.

At about 4:05 i was wheeled back to threatre feeling abit stressed as i had had ages to work myself up to being really nervous. The anethesist then said he was going to do the spinal and i had a really nice nurse tell me what was going on and what i would feel DH had a special chair to sit in untill i was ready to lie down on the table after the spinal. This time the spinal wasnt as bad as i had remembered with DD1 but that time i had a student doc do it as i was public.

I lay down and my legs went really heavy then my OB came in and started at 4:26 Aleeyah Hope arrived DH got 1 quick picture and they raced her over to the table they were with her for ages and then i started to get worried after a while they called DH over. They were trying to suck the fluid out of her lungs but it wasnt helping she never really cried just made small noises. I was then given a quick look at her before they took her out to recovery to work on her. I was then stiched up i went into recovery at 4:45 she was in a humdicrib next to my bed and then they told e what they thought was happening.

She had retained lung fluid and ths was making her breathe fast and funny they then put a tube in her nose and took heraway for xrays to chck that there was nothing else wrong these came back clear and we were told that she would have to speacial car nursery untill she stabliesed. So i didnt see her again untill Tues lunch time after i got out of bed:crying: and then wasnt able to hold her untill Wed am as she was really unsettled by this time she had a drip in her hand also and was being tube feed. Her breathing took untill Fri am to settle down when she was discharged from special care to me on the ward we then came home Sat morning.:smiliedance:

So that is my very long winded story sorry about that but it feels good to write it down:)

Mel,

thanks for sharing your story.

The waiting must have been very difficult.

I was in a similar position with bubs in NICU while I was on the ward. Fortunately as DS was only really in NICU for close observation after much whinging I was able to see my baby, they bought him up to me, then and again at night. I also felt a bit cheated. The next morning I made the nurses put me in a wheel chair with my drip and spinal still in and take me down to NICU!

I hopeyour little girl is doing much better now.
