Hi everyone. I'm 8 weeks with no.1 & new to Bub-Hub.

I have private insurance but after hearing such glowing reports for RPA (Sydney) was planning to go public. That is, until last Friday when I had my 8 week ultrasound & they pointed out a small dermoid cyst in each of my ovaries which will need to be monitored throughout the pregnancy. So now I've decided I want the continuous care of an OB/GYN and am faced with finding one quickly.

Got some recommendations from friends & family over the weekend but called around today to find many are booked out for Feb 08 already - especially those who came top of my list.

I managed to find 3 OBs who will take me on, which is great news :yelclap: but I'm left with a tough decision. I need to decide quickly as Boyce wants to see me next week (the other 2 a couple of weeks later). They all seem to have similar fees. Boyce is a bit higher but is part of the no gap scheme so I'll save a bit on the birth fees.

Has anyone had good or bad experiences with Boyce, Hunter or Brieger? Please share!

Thanks! I look forward to hearing some stories.

My friend had Chris Hunter with whom she had a csect and was v pleased. Cleaned up her previous c sect scar and she says it is hardly noticeable. I am seeing David Smith at NSP who is also v good.

I'm not sure about the 3 OBs you've mentioned but I had Stephen Morris as my ob and he delivers at both NSP and RPA. He is absolutely fantastic, especially when it comes to high risk or closely monitored pregnancies.
If you really want to give birth at RPA, give him a go.. I highly recommend him

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear. I meant to say in the original post that I have decided not to go to RPA, but to go to NSP instead. Thanks for the tips re Morris & Smith. I may call them to check availability but will hang out a bit longer in case someone can give me some feedback on any of the 3 OBs I've booked in with already.

i had Geoff Brieger. I gave birth at the Mater via c-section. He was great. I felt really comfortable with him. My stepdad made some enquiries through some of his doctor mates and was told that if you want to go to the Mater and you have a difficult birth he is your man.

I had Dr Hunter for my first baby. I had a C Section at the Mater. He was absolutely fantastic. I was actually hospitalised for a few weeks prior to the birth and he actually came in to visit me each day while he was on holidays.

I will definately be going back to Dr Hunter when I have my 2nd!!!

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Not sure about the 3 drs you mentioned but I gave birth with Dr David Smith 3 weeks ago and delivered a 5.4 kilo baby naturally with his amazing assitance.(supposedly a hospital record for the largest bub born naturally!) So give him a try if you like.

From people 'in the know' (so to speak) I haven't heard many positive reports about Dr Boyce. Good luck with everything.
