you can start from birth, especially if bottle fed,

I Breastfed DS2 and he was a winter baby, so I was all he needed fluid wise till he started solids

I'm not sure about FF, but BF babies don't need any water as they get all that is necessary from breast milk. Once they start on solids offering water whenever they have some is best.

I give Noah 200ml of water and he sips on that throughout the day...

ETA: On top of 2 x milk bottles and his 3 solid meals!

I started giving my b/f bub water at around 3 months, we live in NQ and the summers are so hot, I thought she might need a bit extra! It didn't affect her feeding at all, in fact it was great because she got used to a bottle!

You may start at any age, but the usual is around 3 or 4 months. Just boil the water first and then transfer into a bottle as room temperature or cooled in the fridge.

Once they start solids or around 6months you will no longer need to boil it unless the water in your area is particulary dirty/full of chemicals ect.

Water is not necessary for bfed bubs up until they are at least 6 mths.

Water given between feeds helps babies with constipation. But I think this is usually a FF problem. My dr says to give water at any age.

I think it is more of a FF problem. BF babies can go at least 10 days without pooing and it's not a concern.

Ive heard water is great for babies with constipation! My bubs is only 9 weeks old and Ive been told by experts that breastmilk is all she needs up until she starts solids. Once she reaches 6 months i will offer boiled cooled water in a bottle.

ABA says BF babies don't need water, you're their water.

If they just want water from boob milk, they take the foremilk and forget the rest. Very smart.

DS is 9months old and has never had water.

My friends kids who were BF till 2 never even had water till BF stopped at 3ish. Not necessary.

And when its hot - our bodies make more water for the bub (higher water content breastfeed) how smart are we?!

Taliyah is 8 months old and I've never given her water and she is breastfed. But I did give Summer some at 6 months but she didn't like it

Your all Aiden needs at the moment but it's up to you if you want to give him water or not
