Hi lovlies ,
It feels good to be back here, I've been away for about 2-3wks. I hope everyone is well.
Anyway I'm after some ideas on what to serve with lasagna?
Also do you put vegies inside yours, if so what kind?
Thanks :hugs:

I sometimes serve steamed vegies with mine or a nice tomato, rocket and balsamic salad (roma tomatoes, fresh rocket, olive oil and balsamic vinegar) **lick lips**
If I make my own lasagne, the only vegies I put inside is very finely diced carrot and finely chopped onion, then the usual meat sauce etc..... Yummo.

I just usually have it with garlic bread if its just us but if we have people coming over i have a salad with it.
I my bolognese sauce i cook celery with the onion, once that in soft i put in grated carrot and zucchini. Brown meat add tin of tomato and jar of spaghetti sauce. If i have mushroom/capsicum i add them too.
I do the same for lasagne and spaghetti.

Oh thanks for that sounds yummo.
I normally put any in mine (besides onion and tom)but I might try the carrot this time. I usually serve mine with caeser salad but I feel like its a bit too heavy aswell as fattening on top of the lasagna IYKWIM.

OH YUM, celery!!
I also make the same mince as for spag bol so onion, fresh or tin tomatoes, grated zucchini and carrot, mushies and diced capsicum.
We have it with garlic bread and salad - Lettuce, grated carrot, corn kernals, red onion, diced tomato, capsicum and cheese.. if we have avo then I add that too...
I love lasagna!!

I often make my lasagna with lots of mushies, fresh corn kernels, grated carrot and grated zucchini. Also, I make white sauce with chicken stock rather than milk.
We serve it with a huge bowl of salad.

I serve lasagne on a bed of baby spinach. Usually washed but uncooked seeing as it gets all soggy when steamed, and cooks a little under the hot lasagne anyway.
Some asparagus is also lovely.
Either way, something crisp and green. I have never really liked having the usual baked or steamed vegies with this dish.. dunno why!

I will usually have onion, garlic, mushrooms and finely chopped tomatoes in my meat lasagna, but I did make a vego one last week which was very yummt - had the same vegies as my meat one plus pumpkin, sweet potato, carrot, zucchini, red/green capsicum - plus lots of herbs from our garden.
We usually have a side salad with ours, and occasionally garlic bread.....yummo!!

Usually serve nothing with it - It has everything in it
carrots, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, zucchini (or whatever green vege is in my fridge)
Occasionally a salad if serving to friends or in summer

You can't go past a nice garden salad with crusty bread to go with a lasagne!!!
I have gone off using a pre-packaged spag sauce...I generally put a can of condensed Tomato soup(along with all the other usuals) and a pinch of sugar to offset the bitterness of canned tomatoes.

We have chips with ours too :o
And I put whatever vegies I have, in fact I love vegetarian lasagne just as much as the meat version.

An idea I got from DH's Italian family is to put a layer of cooked eggplant in the lasagne, and also I add peas to the mince sauce before layering up the lasagne.
We usually eat ours with steam vegetables (carrots, corn, etc) or salad and garlic bread.
