hi guys, well i have had such a stressful time at work, they have treated me so badly, basically reducing my responsibility because im going on maternity leave (which is against the law) and my manager has been ignorning me! its horrible, im not sleeping and i think ive had enough...

im meeting HR tomorrow, and going to ask to start my maternity leave in 4 wks, which will make me 24 wks.

im so scared to confront my manager, she is a horrible wicked witch

yikes.... anyone else finishing work early... its going to leave me broke, but id rather look after my health!

Hi KatieKitten

I'm not due til December but saw your thread.

Sorry to hear about your dilemma with work. Is there someone in your HR department that you can talk to about in confidence about your issues with your manager?

I don't know what field of work you are in - maybe you can work in a different division/area in your work away from your current manager???

Maybe you can work part-time for the remainder of your pregnancy???

Were you planning 12 months maternity leave because if you commence your maternity leave early you will be going back to work early - maybe alot earlier then you had hoped - ie July/Aug 08.

I would sit down with your HR contact and discuss all these options.

It would be a shame to disadvantage your finances, health and maternity leave because of a difficult boss.

Good luck!:fingerscrossed:

Katie, so sorry you are having a rough time. I finished work shortly after 1st trimester ended. Everyone was lovely and I enjoyed the work but after a m/c just before chrissy last year I decided it wasnt worth the stress. Working was making me sooooo tired and all I kept thinking about were the kids I teach and I had a scare with a virus that only kids have (parvo) that could have killed my bubba so I am staying home. I hope you can reach a decision you are happy with, both you and bub need it.

Hi there KatieKitten!

I am so sorry to hear your bad luck - or should I say bad boss! :shame: I am in the same situation. The boss think that being pregnant means you aren't able to do anything - like some sort of a disease... All the jobs that I am usually responsible for are being redirected to others - leaving me with basically nothing to do...making me feeling quite stupid and useless. BUT I decided that it is not my fault (that the boss is uneducated and silly) - so I'll make the best of my situation. I am leaving work early, study from home (short courses like computer stuff) and get everything ready for bubs. Thus I am less stress (happy bub and mom...and daddy) and if I want to go back to work if bubs is old enough - I will get something better to do.

Do not let a stupid boss make your pregnancy miserable - it's only 9 months! Take a positive approuch and who know - it could lead to something big!

Good luck - lots of :hugs:

hey ladies, im a marketing manager and work for a big company (who are meant to be the number 1 employer of choice for women - NOT)

well, im not actually going to start my maternity leave until my original time, i am going to take "leave without pay" until October.

well, I have spoken to HR before, and they are really reluctant to help the "employee" rather they help the "employer" so i really dont have much luck there.

i am quite stressed at work, because my boss is icy to me, doesnt talk to me, treats me like **** and makes me feel so stupid. she said "im going to be tougher on you until you go" i cant believe how horrible she is. She is so negative about women who choose to start a family (she is 40, single and lives with her mum, and married to her career) and whilst i dont judge that, she resents anyone who doesnt think the same.

Thanks Lizzy80 - good luck with your studies!
Rainbowbrite, you do the hardest work of all!!! good luck with things!
4tiggers - i agree- better to be safe than sorry, i had a m/c in nov last year and really think its important to look after your health...
allgirls - i really think its got to the point i cant stay at the company, i cant sleep at night thinking about it, and even p/t will be tough - but good points! i officially get 12 months from just before bub is due, so it wont impact that - relief!

ill let u gals know tomorrow how the meeting goes!

I'm sort of going through the same thing, although I have been quite unwell during this pregnancy and have had quite a bit of time off. I am a contractor so they only pay me for the hours that I work but when I come in after being off my boss completely ignores me and doesnt even say hello. They are giving me such menial jobs that I was doing say 10 years ago that it is really frustrating me too.

My boss had a talk with me last week basically saying that he thinks because Im a Contractor that I dont think Im letting anyone down by not coming in! I said that If I was doing the job I was employed to do then maybe I would feel more responsibility! Anyway he ended up asking if I wanted to work 3 days a week and I took him up on it, I really dont need the stress right now!
