Unlike my other pregnancy I glided through this one,...Or so we thought, from 33weeks I was having problems and had lots of scans as bub was small and I had very low levels of amniotic fluid. So from then until 38 weeks I lived at my parents where I could have round the clock help with DD(as DP was working long hours 6 days a week)

On the 18th June (11 days before EDD) I felt 'different' and was snapping at everyone, the next day I wanted to hermit myself inside, that morning I had a 'show' and thought that with in the next day or two 'squishy' would be here. From 9am until Noon I was having crampy pains and from 12 onwards they skipped to every 15 min, they were bearable (i thought I had a low pain threshold!! Boy was I wrong!!)

At 5pm things went sour, contractions started every 10min and were getting VERY 'Bitey' so we all panicked and packed up to go to the hospital (being 1/2 hour away:eek: ) We called my parents to come get DD from hospital (they live 1hour away, we thought we had heaps of time....we were SO WRONG!!)
We gave the new car a great test run and DP was saying 'I'm not built to deliver babies!!' as about half way there contractions were thick and fast every 4 min.

Got to hospital and was ushered to birth suite, found to be 9cm.
Asked for an epidural to which I was told that baby would be here any minute so couldn't have anything apart from gas (gas makes me :barf: )
I then told midwife that that was ok if bub was coming soon, get me an epidural (i was pretty out of it!!) I really lost it then as I am terrible with pain and relised that there was no way I could have ANY PAIN RELIEF!! If it wasn't for DP and my excellent middy (Julie) I wouldn't have gotten through it.

Spoke extreme amounts of cr@p (during which DP rang back-up babysitter to get DD, who was still present as I laboured on, lucky they only lived 5min away from hospy) DP had to leave the room to give DD to Aunty, I lost it again as I thought he left me(I had strange labour brain:laughing: ) and started screaming his name and for him to 'come back!!'

I said I couldn't be in labour as my waters hadn't broken (to which my body gave a little push and they burst, squirting half way across the room. I am not kidding and Julie had to jump out of the way! DP and Julie laughed at my apologising techniques)

The weirdest feeling (i think) is having your body push and not actually making it do it, I never felt this last time as I had an epidural the entire way thorough and had to make myself push (I am so glad I got to feel it though.)

Then at 7.50pm on the 19th June 2007 (my aunty's birthday) Alexis Jade entered the world in three pushes, 6lb 9oz (3000g) 50cm long, 33.5cm HC. Perfect in every way. Labour was 7 hours and 50 min long!! The middies all commented on how long and thick her cord was, aparently none of them had seen one that thick in a long time. Her little belly button still pokes out because it was so big!!

I was never one to want a natural labour, but now I can't believe I did it and as I cradled my princess that night all I could say was 'I did it, I did it by myself! I really did it' I am so proud of what my body did and I can't believe I doubted it. I think that is why I bounced back so quickly this time and went home just short of 24hours. I feel so good and DP is in love with his two princesses!!

:yelclap: well done Bindi-
congrats and welcome Alexis Jade :smiliedance:

What a great feeling though to know you could do it without an epi.
When I had Hugh, I really thought I'd def need an epi but my Obs helped me and when I thought I could go on no longer without it- whoops, too late-10cms! I was so impressed with myself afterwards :D I amazed myself.

i was so proud ofmyself, i had two natural births with no pain relief (16hrs one and 6hrs the other). It was a mission but i wanted to accomplish it and i did.

What a beautiful story Belinda! Thank you for sharing! I had a 6 hour labour and only had gas. Before Eva was born, a friend said I should have an epidural (which I was so against) as "you don't get any medals doing it without drugs". Being in so much pain, I ended up saying yes when the middie asked me if I wanted one. She wanted to examine me first, but then found I was fully dilated and didn't need one! I was soooo happy! When Eva was born, my friend bought me a beautiful gold and pink zirconia pendant of a little girl and told me that was my medal! How beautiful and a daily reminder that my body could achieve such a thing without drugs!!!

Well done Belinda - you did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
