Cordelia: The poo will be more solid yes but not hard, if she seems happy enough I would just maybe keep giving her pears (fruits, things to make her go etc). How long has she been on solids now? It will take a bit for her tummy / bowels to adjust.
It did take Katie a few weeks to get softer and more regular after starting solids. Until then I just gave her lots of juice/water and plenty of pears. I actually use ribena and water ( very weak ) as she hates water. Says on the bottle not recommended under 12 months though...But always gave my boys it and did no harm. Plus its very weak, just enough to taste. Oh and I also used infants friend if she missed a day poo and seems uncomfortable, its suppose to help their digestive system and bowels and seems to work for us, poo usually follows later that day.

Hope that helps
xx

boss - am thinking of you and T.

tabby - i sing that song to settle too!

charis - always dream of G in our bed. often wake up patting DH on the back!!!! he doesnt seem to mind - must be quite soothing actually!

cordelia - G's poos seem a bit more solid after solids - but still mushy (though not runny like a bf poo). G's poos usually arrive abt 24hrs after prune juice. but keep up fruit like Tabby suggested. i would give exclusively fruit at this stage of the proceedings actually (no banana though).

arachel2 - i make my pears as per dragonfly's method, or else i steam them. to do that, you peel and slice the pears (chuck the core) and put in a steamer basket over a saucepan of boiling water. when soft enough to put fork through easily, whizz them up in food processor with a splash of boiled water from kettle. i make up big batches and freeze in ice cube trays and little tuppaware containers.

us - all good here. DH offered new job/massive promotion, so v excited. bigger than 2 bed house now attainable - which means can think abt new baby!!! though - we do love our v cute 2 bed terrace. v old and lots of character - so will be sad to move on.

Thankyou all for helping me with the pears question. She loved them. I added some to her Farex and it worked a treat. She loved them for dinner by themselves as well.
Thanks once again. Chat soon

All caught up after a few days of not checking in so too big a task to do personals for everyone apart from a couple I can remember off the top of my head....

Welcome to all the new posters  . Will be good to get some more opinions & perspectives & stories.

:hugs: to bossoflatch. Sorry T is still not a happy miss but so glad you seem to finally be closer to getting some answers & solutions, even if not the ones you were hoping for. :fingerscrossed: things can now improve.

Not sure who said it but I agree you have a lovely way of expressing things Charis. As for dreams, not quite the same thing but when I first wake up to C's cries I'm a bit dazed & confused about why he's not already in my arms becasue the last thing I remember is feeding him in his room in the rocking chair and not quite sure how I got to bed. This is even more so lately because have been having some terrible nights. Only 1 semi-decent sleep the last 5 days. Don't know what's wrong but longest stretch last night was 1.5hours, sometimes only 20 mins - no burps, no wind. If only I knew WHY it wouldn't be so frustrating! Starting solids? Growth spurt? Itchy eczema? Cold? Hot? LOL probably none of the above!! At least it seems we are not the only ones spending a good portion of the night awake.

Going well with the big boy food. Will eat the rice cereal, LOVES pumpkin and getting a taste for pear & apple. Ate everything I gave him today so might have to start upping the serving size.

Almost sitting on his own now & becoming very good at throwing a tanty. Apparently DH was a master tantrum thrower in his day and I'm sure C is heading the same way. Lucky me! At first I thought the grunty face reddening shriek was a poo strain but nope, it's his way of letting me know in no uncertain terms that he is not impressed!

I quite often jump up in the middle of the night and prepare to feed before realising I already have within the last hour and it's just a dummy call! Amazing how quickly you can fall deeply asleep once you are a mum, and equally amazing that you can wake instantly when you hear one of the kids - but DH next to you doesn't warrant even a mumble most of the time! I guess even in my sleep I know he's big enough to take care of himself!

Cat - hope you get a good night tonight!!!

Rachel - kelsey loves her pears too. I do the same as dragonflyblu - just stew them until really soft in a pan. Works really well with dried prunes too and makes the rice cereal taste less like glue!

Ellembee - whoohoo on the promotion for your DH! Congrats!

Wonder if Cordelia and Caitlin managed to 'work things out' so to speak!

charis - Yes, often wake up during dreams about the kids only to realise they are crying/calling. I suppose as mums they fill our hearts and minds at all times of the day!

Well, little miss has just woken so had better go and see her. Take care!!

Charis

Yes :) I did think we would all be having those dreams about our precious children!! And the little dream bubs being put down as we jump up! Nice to know I'm not crazy, or all that crazy.

Cat13, hope a night of sleep for you and C.

I was just going to title this month, the month of poo.., as day 1 seems to have this writ large for all.

I was also going to add an amendment to Flicka's certainty principle for curing constipation: 'Dress them in their best clothes and go out'....the other way is to 'change their nappy after what you think is finally the big one..only to find, they are still going and going!!!' oh yes!

Cat13 :) V nice words, made me smile, lots. Sorry for the LONG posts though..will be short soon..like when he stops sleeping as much.

Ellembee, YAH great news about DH!!

nite!!

Morning all,
major whinge ahead

Well my leaking roof got worse, major storms here and ds2 walked past my room to hear it dripping through the ceiling RIGHT ONTO MY NEW BED!!:banghead:
Its totally soaked and ruined, only 12 months old!
They sent someone out asap to isolate it ( from light fitting ) and another will come today to fix.
Slept in Katies room, spare bed and a mattress on floor. YAY for DP waking us both at just after 4 am! why are men so bloody inconsiderate at times?

DP is also home as he has put his back out.
I must be cursed, just when things get better.

insert huge sigh here

Hope there was some nice sleeps to be had by all and nice big poops where needed heh

tabby - so sorry to hear about the leaking roof and onto your new bed!!! do you have insurance as that should be covered under that??

ellembee - congrats on DH promotion - how exciting!!

bossoflatch - hope that things are on the improve!!

charis - i also love your posts

all - i also enjoy reading everyone's stories and joys and pain.....whoever thought some of the things would happen that we have already gone through and only been six months!!!

us - well little G still getting his teeth through - last night was best sleep for ages, went to sleep at 7.30pm, feed at 12 and then woke up at 4.40am for feed and back to sleep, nights before that was waking almost every hour - yuk!!

Tabby
02-07-2007, 10:49
Thanks Jacstar,
Its gotten worse, we have some really bad weather here today and every time it pores you can hear it pooling in the roof then running down the walls! Cracks have appeared as well. The water runs down the wall where they are.. ah well have rung them again and what ever damage done is done. I did my part.
The mattress should dry ok eventually, not sure of insurance wise whether it would be covered for that though, only stained at the moment???

YAY for your better sleep, lets hope it gets even better :)

HI everyone

Tabby - :hugs:

Well Sierra had a great sleep last night. Slept from 7 til 7:30 this morning. I think the reason she was waking was because she was hungry. Started giving her bigger amounts in her bottle which she has been drinking with no problems so i think that was it. If she sleeps again tonight, hopefully the problem is fixed for now, until something else comes up. No teeth here yet. Cant even feel the lumps under the gums yet. But DD1 & 2 didnt get teeth until they were 7 1/2 - 8 months, so it will probably be around the same sort of time. Shes still has no interest in standing at all. Which i think is ok... well i hope it is. Just wont put any weight on her legs. BUt i was thinking of buying her a walker this week to see if that might help her.
Now for my vent... DH went to the footy last night with a customer from work. He paid for the tickets last week which were $52 each, stupid price for footy tickets. Anyway, the customer was going to give him the money back which was good, but i told DH to go to the bank on the way to the footy & get whatever he needed out & some money for DD1 swimming lessons this morning & fuel etc. Anyway he took $200 out, which was fine. I told him to go easy with money at the footy though because his work have changed all his pays & i wasnt sure when he was being paid next or how much. So what happens... he got $75 back from the customer & only spent $10 on a drink & chips, thats really good for him, usually he spends heaps. Then he loses his wallet. Cant remember when he last had it. No where to be found. Thinks he didnt put it back in his pocket when he bought drinks. $265 down the drain. Not very impressed. Now i have to stop all his cards & get new ones. Somehow he always loses money, last time he went to the footy he took something out of his pocket & dropped a $50 note, he leaves 50's & 20's in his work pants pockets & i find them when i do the washing & he never asks about it. How can he not know its missing. Men!! lol
Better go before it becomes a longer post

I used to do this whith DD1. Used to anoy the h3ll out of DH.
Sammy...LOL at the wiggles undies
Tabby...:hugs: this have to start going your way soon.

An ok night here. TJ woke at 3 then 7 and DD1 slept through 'til 6.
TJ's up to 3/4 a weetbix for breaky and this morning munched through some banana afterwards.

Went on a drive up to Guilderton yesterday to see my parents. Should have looked at the weather forecast before going, as we were driving in the worst of the weather.

Eagerly awaiting the toy catalogs online at the moment.

Have a great day!

Hi everyone,

poo update - still not runny but are soft and round and playdoughish.. DH went to change her nappy this morning and came back with a very detailled description - maybe too much honey!

Perth - argh the weather has been horrible!! I usually walk down to the chemist on Mondays to weigh Caitlin but no way - not today! Our poor lawn mower man has been workign away out there with gale winds and rain beating down... I can't say I'd be that dedicated!

tired mummy - how frustrating for you. You'd think with that amount of money in his wallet he'd be a tad more careful! :/

Sammy - i know what you mean about waking... I had DH put the alarm on at 6am yesterday because I had to get somewhere early... he turned it off as soon as it came on and apparently (he reckons) kicked and punched me (charming) to wake me up but I wouldn't and then at 6:25 I hear a little cry through the monitor and jumped out of bed. It's very survival instinct isnt it!

Ok i'm procrastinating with the housework... have about 4 loads to fold and put away arrghhhh

Thanks all
Still no sign of a repair man, you would think they would rush it considering the long term damage water can do? The paint has started to bubble off so is very very wet through the wall now.

Cordelia: If I had to explain most of Katie's poos that would probably fit the description lol. There is the occasional 2nd following one a bit later which is more softer. ah yes washing/folding..lots here as well, go through a lot more nappies than disposables as wetness doesn't keep away from bub so I change more often so LOTS of washing here.

MouseB: wow 3/4 of weetbix. Certainly likes her food,Katie is still about a 1/4.

bbl Katie awake

Must be laundry day for loads of people today! Me included.

Can't believe a baby & a toddler let me sleep in till well past 9am this morning. It was lovely but....

 I was meant to be online at 9am getting Wiggles tickets for us and close friends. They were sold out by the time I logged on. Miraculously another friend accidentally bought 6 tickets for a day that didn't suit her (we took them) Not for the day I planned but at least we are going!

Tabby, hope the repair guys get there soon and give your insurers a call - amazing what is covered sometimes!

Hi!

Just a quick one here, sorry I've been a bit scarce, but things are hectic here!!

We are frantically doing all the last minute packing/cleaning etc, don't have to be out until wed. am anyway, then we fly off late wed. nite!!

Welcome to the new people to our thread! Will get to chat more when we're settled back in Canada.

Perthies as you know it is the WORST weather to be moving in now, lol!! TABBY, hope you don't get washed away, poor you, that sounds awful!!

Anyway, will post when I can, and let you all know how a 24hour plane trip with a baby goes!! AHHH:eek:

Hope all mums and bubs are well, take care :)

Hi all

Has anyone got some sleep tips on how to encourage your bub to sleep thru? I know this is teh million dollar question & if someone could figure it out we'd be rich as all get out, but would still like to know what works for you who are lucky enough!

Isabella still wakes between 2-4 am (even if I feed her alot as late as possible) & then seems to wake several times after that into the early morning which makes for a very bad sleep for us! ie every hour stirs/cries for us to get up & assist. Maybe it's cos I don't change her nappy overnight as I don't want to wake her too much?? We don't have a set routine at night for what time she goes to bed so I don't know if that effects? I try to get her to sleep at between 6-7 but she always ends up waking up to be fed again between 8-10. Also when she stirs, I don't want to try & put her to sleep for an hour and then for her to wake again an hour later to be fed.I don't think she's hungry all the time overnight as when I feed her say twice, when it gets to the 7am I don't have much milk as I've fed her twice overnight sometimes!! I don't know how much more I can survive on 4 hours of broken sleep a night. I also need to start letting her settle on her own & she is still in our room in her cradle - all beit she's too big for it now! She needs to go to her cot as her arms hit the side but hubby is worried about SIDS leaving her alone in her room just yet. We have always attended as soon as she cries & generally have to rock her to sleep in our arms. Today was a first where i let her get tired, put her in her sleeping bag & was able to walk out & she actually fell asleep!

Does anyone else still have bub in their room? For those who have more than one, does there come a time where they just suddenly sleep through??

By the way Tabby & Strawberry congrats on expecting! Would like to know what it's like being PG & looking after a bub so young. Tabby - had no idea you already had 2 other kids! Good gap between though. Well done on going for 4!

Tabby - Poor you with the leaky roof!! Hope it gets fixed soon!

Luvmytum - Yes, the million dollar question.......personally I think it just comes down to the individual child. My DS didn't sleep thru until he was 11 months old - not a single full nights sleep for me until then. And with kelsey she slept thru when a tiny baby but hasn't since about 3 months old. She usually gets up 1 or 2 times a night for a snack. IMO they will just do it when they are ready. But fingers crossed it is soon for all of us!!!

Aries - good luck with the packing and plane trip. You must be so excited at the moment. Your family is in Canada aren't they??? Bet they can't wait to see X!!! Will be thinking of you on weds night!

Well, my DS is having his first sleep over with Nanny and Pa tonight. He spent 2 days with my mum when Kelsey was born but that wasn't really a break for me was it??? So, kelsey and I have been playing lots and snuggling in bed for feeds. It is nice to have some time with her. hope DS behaves himself and sleeps ok for my parents. Silly to say but I miss him. he is such a chatterbox and great company.

For those of you giving bubs solids (which I think is most of us) can anyone remember when they can have a milk arrowroot biscuit? I have been giving them to Kelsey the last couple of days but can't remember if it is ok yet.

Whoops - Kelsey was sitting up on the bed with pillows around her but took a nose dive and nearly fell off the bed!!! Lucky she is bottom heavy and her big bum kept her on the bed!

Well, off to hang some washing out (yes about 6 loads done her too Sammy).

Take care

Hi everyone

Luvmytum - who knows when they sleep through. Not here yet! G is in a cot in her own room (but just next door to us and I hear every gurgle w/o need of a monitor). could be that Isabella is waking herself by bashing against sides of the cradle??? btw - are you annoyed Princess Mary copied your name? he he. I think it is a gorgeous name and good on Mary for breaking with tradition.

Tabby - hope you haven't floated away.

Aries - how exciting about finally going home!

Us - Well G has decided she won't sleep in her cot during the day. Both sleeps today were in the pram - naughty girl! Having said that - she was awesome last night. Went down at 6.30 and woke at 2.30 and then 6.00. Very very good for us!!!!! Did lots of housework today and have a nice clean tidy house. Don't you love that feeling!!!! I think I had a burst of energy because of my good snooze! Imagine what I will be like with my first sleep through! I will be able to run a marathon I reckon!!!

Luvmytum, Michael is in our room and still in his cradle - it is a big one but he will have to make the transition soon! He will still be in our room though! He doesn't sleep thru yet but usually only up once at around 4:30 or 5:30 then I let him snuggle with me till DS1 wakes up at around 8. Sometimes I get up a few times during the night but it's only to put the dummy back in. DS1 slept through from 5 and a 1/2 months when he went into his own room and I threw out his dummies.

Aries, will you still be part of our group from Canada?

Flicka, DS1 spent about 6hrs with the outlaws today and while I got heaps done at mall with DH and enjoyed the peace it was still awesome picking him up and bringing the little chatterbox home!

Us - We are going to try library storytime again after the school hols - DS1 was too little at last attempt. Different library this time and they have a 'bubs with bibs' session too once Michael is 6months!

Speaking of poo.... We had our first major leakage here today. And I mean MAJOR. Bodysuit, wondersuit, and a nice thick blanket all destroyed by Chloe's "bomb" today... I had been waiting for it a couple of days, and boy it sure did come!! EW!! haha.. Those who are still waiting, be prepared!! :D

Washing day here too, I never thought I'd use all of Chloe's clothes since she has so many, but, yep, she goes through them.

Gosh Tabby I hope your roof is fixed soon, we don't want it falling in!!! Hope the weather fines up over ur way soon. We need more rain to get rid of these water restrictions!

luvmytum- yes Chloe is still sleeping in our room. I'm not comfortable putting her in another room yet, plus it's much easier if she's right there when she needs to be fed.

Hope everyone and their bubs are getting better, and getting a bit more sleep. Chloe is ok now, a little bit of a cough and a sniffle but that's all. Got a couple of nights of OK sleep- have figured out that she just loves to be super cosy and now that she's using her doona she sleeps like a log!

going to spend some time with DH now (and eat chocolate biscuits!), hope you all have a good night sleep tonight!

I just popped in to get my bubhub fix and the phone rang......DS was crying and wants to come home from nanny's "to cuddle mummy". So much for my break tonight. Had my hopes up for a sleep in tomorrow but not now. Oh well, had better go as he will be home soon. At least I know he needs me still!!!

Well i had a bad weekend. Won't go into it to much, but i will say that all men suck. I had a huge fight with DF on Sunday morning and had enough so i packed up the boys and left. Never in my life did i think i would do this. But there comes a time when enough is enough. Now i don't know what we are going to do as we still aren't talking. I don't want the boys to have this sort of tension around them.

Anyways enough rambling i just needed to get it off my chest. Atleast you girls all understand.

Welcome all the newbies hope you enjoy chatting on here as much as i do.

Flicka i have the opposite trouble with DS1 i can't get him away from nanny and pa's house without tears.

Charis

:hugs: to Luke+MattsMum for doing what you had to at the time. Have to remember we are much more 'instinctively' protective for our little ones from stress/arguments. I hope you start talking again soon. 3rd person?

Hunters Dad and I have seen each other about 2hrs in the last 2wks. It is very happy and calm here, but I think he is having a v hard time.

Tabby what kind of insulation do you have?? I lost a ceiling last yr..it had that pump in recycled paper stuff, when its wet it just LOADs a plasterboard ceiling and makes it all mushy.. Hope it gets fixed for you really soon. Those storms were something!!TLC for yr DHs back!!

Flicka - lovely DS! in 10yrs you can remind him of such a close bond esp when he's trying to stay late out at parties. The strong bond now probably makes him a completely resilient, responsible and sensible person too. Arh, I guess thank goodness it wasn't 3am??

Aries ALL THE BEST for the final bits of packing and the last two days!

mummysgirl - amazing what a bit of soaking does and they're all good! Yes a talking advert here. What a bizarre post - big relationship issues and ceilings!!

Hunter doesn't cry anymore, well only when he's really really 'something', now just grisly for just about all the normal reasons. And thought sheltering from the ENORMOUS squalls on a verandah just 5 houses away (we almost made it home!) was so funny. I was singing all his nursery rhymes and he was just giggling and giggling :) :smiliedance:

SammyG hope the bubs+bibs is great. We got to Rhyme Time too for the first time last week. (ps isn't every day laundry day!??)

Luvmytummy, I think, in answer to your question you just change what 'sleeping through' means!! If H+I go out for dinner..and H gets to bed 10/11ish then he sleeps through to 6..but I don't count this! I still think we're on 7.30pm-3am-6am-7.30am...but for the last three nights he's woken up about 10mins after being asleep. Hmm 10.30 finally asleep. Solids (i think)have certainly altered his day sleeps. oh well, all good now! But now shuteye for me. xx and all.

quickly read you july post - tabby you pregnant
???? :smiliedance:

wow the bubbas are growing up really quick aren't they - solids and all .... and the change in poos

well we went to the barium meal yesterday and saw the dr straight after - she is booked in for an endoscope on friday morning to get some biopsies done and a few other things not really sure of the medical terms - i just know my bubs is going under for awhile and when she wakes up we should have definative answers .... how sad :(

the professor was great - he was so nice and all...was a little dissappointed when he wouldn't rule out certain things ..as i have chron's inthe family and he wouln't say to no that or other things ..so really still playing the waiting game until friday .. i tell you though if they say we have to wait after that ... i will go crazy ..everyone asks how she is going and i say monday ... now friday ... how crazy can i go ???

best going she is getting upset ..will drop in sometime over the weekend to update you all ... take care ... and hope all the bubbas are going good ...

Flicka: Do you mean to eat as is or mixed with milk?
Katie has been having it mixed with formula from day one. Makes a much nicer breakie than farex lol.
If as is..I give only rusks, would be a bit scared other as too easy to break off a chunk?

luvmytum: Only thing I can say is routine, Ive used it with all three from the day we got home. Even ds2 who was really bad reflux slept through by this age. I have stuck to dinner bath bottle cuddle bed routine every night.
BUT it is true, sometimes there is not much you can do, it will happen when they are ready. but routine does help in my opinion,:fingerscrossed: you get it soon though.
Yep day 5 of clomid tonight!!!! I took them at night so the side affects have been minimal.
Hope our leaking roof is done before ovulation, bit sort of pfft at the moment with sleeping on mattress's here and there lol.

Aries!!!! ALL the best for a great flight, Hope X loves it and sleeps/eats/everything well through it all!

Sammy: Wow what a beautiful sleep in! Lucky you and lucky you got those spare tickets too!

Ellembee: I have the same hassle day sleeps here, she sleeps perfectly in my arms but soon as try put down its eyes wide open!! Cant understand it...Night sleep is perfect, she goes bed awake and asleep within minutes to sleep through!

mummysgirl: wow lol that sure was an explosion, Ive yet to encounter one with DD, close to the top but never quite lol.
The weather is the same again today..Really wish they would hurry up and fix. My bed is in the hallway ( near heating ) to try dry it up quicker and we are sleeping in DD's room on the floor and spare bed! plus the water everywhere in my room. will be calling again today. Oh and I have to stay home all day every day till done..So someone will be here:banghead:
sorry that got rather a rant lol

speaking of poop, bbl Katie needs a change etc.

Bossoflatch : aye!!! haha nope. Am just bout done for day 5 clomid
where did that confusion come from? lol
So :fingerscrossed: for this month though

HUGE HUGS your way for Friday and hope it brings some answers for you which also brings relief xxxxx Will be thinking of her

Charis: no insulation at all. Scary hearing the water run down the wall though!! DP's back is better, rostered off today which was lucky, longer to recoup.
lol at Hunter giggling through the storm , how cute!!
Katie doesnt cry either ( never did really ) but now she growls when had enough of what ever, walker/sitting, to let us know she wants us. lol Its quite a angry growl too, very funny.

speaking of such!! There it is, enough sitting time.
xx all

Just a quick check-in

For those who know Caitlin's struggle with the almighty prune juice - We''re at a running (well solid but slightly mushy!) totak of 3-0 (to the prune juice) yay!

Aries - have a wonderful flight and a nice welcome home - let us know! hope Xavier settles in quickly,

lukeandmatt's mum - sorry to hear that :/ Hope you can work things out (1 way or the other) soon for your boy's sake

Caitlin doesn't really react to the storm - being sleping the whole time! We've been taking her in the spa lately with this blow up seat thing for 3-12 month olds and she kicks around and loves the bubbles - you can see some photos on the link in my sig... I highky recomend one! $25 fron our local pool shop

Cordelia - Thanks for the recommendation regarding baby seat for pool/spa. Going to look into one. Talon hops into the spa every afternoon. He just loves it.

Aries - All the best in Canada darl. Hope everything goes smoothly for you and x.
BTW Canada is where we are going to live when we win gold lotto  .

bossoflatch - Good luck on friday. Is it getting done at the Royal Children's Hospital?

Luvmytum - Personally I think it comes down to the baby. Talon has slept through the night ever since 3 months. I have him into a really good routine which is great. Its usually dinner, bath then a bottle and he's usually a sleep by 7.30pm. Talon sleeps in his cot in his own room which is across from ours. No dramas being pregnant and having a bub. Actually enjoying every little moment with Talon and the pregnancy thing. Gosh its so different 2nd time round, i'm not worrying as much as what i was 1st time round lol

Anyway better go. Time for my little man to have a afternoon nap.
Take care

Well - just came back from Mums and Bubs yoga and the teacher said it is a full moon - so our bubs might be a bit unsettled. Lets wait and see hey - seems like a good excuse to me!

LukeandMattsMum - :hugs: for you. We're all here if you need to talk/vent.

Tabby - I haven't been giving the arrowroots mixed with water or anything - just whole. She seems to do pretty well and I just take it off of her when there is just a little bit left. I know she likes them as her feet wriggle and jiggle the whole time like she is excited.

Bossoflatch - good luck for friday. I will be thinking of you too and lets hope you get some answers.

Kelsey has finally started rolling back to front so she has been doing roly poly's all over the place. Gosh these kids will all be crawling in the next few months. Oh, then I will have to do the floors more often!!!! Nooooooo!!!!

Flicka, You don't find they break off too big a pieces? I hadn't tried it, didnt realize was ok yet.
Might give them a go tomorrow, rusks are so expensive and if she throws them from the chair they break and no use because too short and thin.
YAY for Kelseys rolling and doing roly polys!

Lukeandmattsmum: Sorry..I meant to post regards your post but got totally lost! Hope things have improved since!!! :hugs: to you.

Hi everyone,
Was going to do personals but have forgotten just about everything i've read lol. Its been a long day & think it will only continue. The girls have been sick, with colds. More coughing than runny noses but DD2 as some of you might remember has Chronic Lung Disease from being prem. Anyway shes not good at all. I've been giving her ventalin all day & all night but hasnt been helping. It never does cos she doesnt have Asthma but the hospital will only give it to her to see if it helps. They always treat her for asthma even though she hasnt got it. Shes really struggling with her breathing & I wanted her to get some sleep too because she is very tired from working with her breathing for so long & sometimes her breathing slows down when she gets into a deep sleep. But DH has just taken to the Royal Childrens as she is just getting worse. This is the worst shes ever been while at home. She was very pale (probably from oxygen being low) & completely out of it. Tried to put her pj's on earlier & she couldnt hold herself up. DH will call me as soon as he knows whats going on, but will probably be a few hours, so i should probably try to get some sleep.
Sierra has a very croupey (sp) cough so i'm really hope it doesnt turn into anything worse :fingerscrossed:
Will update in the morning.

How awful Tiredmummy, keep us updated on DD2's progress!

Hope Sierras cough is nothing more than just a cold too.

Sammy: So many coughs and colds! Dont think Ive seen as many as have this winter. Hope Michaels better real soon and gets some sleep, both of you.

Sugar: Glad your nice and toasty now!! Well needed this last few days thats for sure. Lovely to hear Ashton is being perfect little cherub :)

Rang again about the leaking roof and was told was only reported monday 2 pm! and a 2 day priority!!!
you would think it would be classed emergency ( 3 hrs ) because of the actual water damage that will/has been done. Gov housing may be cheap but boy do you pay for it in other ways. The last 5 yrs they do absolutely nothing without making you feel like your asking for a kidney and even then you dont get it.
Am very close to writing a letter of complaint in regards to the last few yrs.
oh Katie napping in our temp bedroom(lounge lol) http://picasaweb.google.com/Kaitlyn2006/KatieAndFamily/photo#5083117641522399170
Least the mattress is dry now and can sleep on it.

Katie had baby yoplait for lunch yesterday.
Highly recommend it if her enjoyment was any thing to go by lol. She scoffed of the whole tub! and here was Dad waiting for the left overs hehe

Have to go clothes shopping again soon for Katie, boy do they grow fast!!!

Hope everyone got a good sleep.

This is all in the lead up to some me time. Saturday..Drop katie iff at mums for the whole day. Shopping then home to unpack then off out with DP for the rest of the day..lunch and subi markets and maybe a movie are sounding good.

Hi everyone,
Just a quick update. DD2 is now in ICU @ the childrens. Her oxygen was low when DH took her in last night. Only on 70% when it should be betweem 96-100%. So its not looking good. Will probably be another 2 week stay, depending on how she goes but its usually anywhere between 7-15days for her to get better enough to come home. DH is home now trying to get some sleep, he spent all night in the resus. part of emergency so he only slept in a chair. So letting him sleep a while before i go in. Dont want him to have to get up for the other 2. But at least she has a nurse with her constantly so makes it a bit easier.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

LukeandMattsMum: Hope things get better for you soon. Must have been hard for you...

Charis: Boy do I know about soaking, I am a walking advert too- About 97% of whatever Chloe wears ends up in a bucket because of her reflux. Sometimes the bibs catch it, but most often it doesn't... Bought her a gorgeous new tracksuit last week, put it on her to go to mum's and next thing: PUMPKIN and rice cereal! Jumper AND pants... lol! TYPICAL! :banghead:

Bossoflatch: Hope you finally manage to get some answers on Friday. Waiting is really hard isn't it...

Cordelia: YAY FOR PRUNE JUICE! :D

Tiredmummy: Boy, how AWFUL!!! I really hope she is doing better soon...

Tabby: I too managed to get a haircut recently: took mum with me to watch Chloe. Geez it felt great... Have a great day Saturday!

Us: Well Chloe finally started pulling her knees up under her chest today. :smiliedance: She's been trying to pull them up to the side for ages but today she finally relaxed her head (put it on the mat) and realised that her knees will come up if her head is down! LOL! Won't be long now.. She's already got the arm strength, just no co-ordination, heehee! Funny to watch.
Another explosion today, however we managed to contain this one... Thankfully...

Tabby, I can't see down there so nothing gets done down there. DH is too excited whenever he gets a rare chance to have 'anything' to do down there that he doesn't notice the forest.

I got my hair cut & coloured for the 1st time in a year the day before the baptism. I had planned on doing the colour myself but ran out of time. It was heaven to be pampered! DH took the boys out while I was done.

Lukeandmattsmum - Hope you and the boys are doing ok.

I stressed for a good hour last night over money, namely our lack of it! We are keeping our heads above water - JUST!!! We have a mountain of debt but always seem to be redrawing - some big budgeting needs to be done for us to be out of debt anytime in the next 5yrs.

Then I was up with M for 1.5hrs. He has been miserable today but I think it's a combo of the cough and we had an unusually hectic day. I managed to see the Doc and he just reassured me that I'm doing everything I can and that M is coping really well!

Before the Doc I spent the arvo with my MIL, getting her to an interview, she does my head in on a good day. Then to top things off came home to a black-out that lasted 2.5hrs. DS1 thought the candles were lovely, I was thinking it's lucky I still BF as I didn't have to heat anything.

On a good note, DS1 has had a great day TT, no accidents! He hates getting his new undies wet!

Apologies if I have been repetitive, it's sleep deprivation!

Hi everyone

Well its been ages since I've posted so I've only ready through the July thread at this stage. A few personals:

Tabby: Good Luck with the TTC! Better hope that roof gets fixed soon cause the lounge room doesn't really set the scene for bding does it?! hehe
Charis: I sometimes wake up with a shock in my bed thinking I'm on the couch still bf and then I start searching for Cooper cause I think I've dropped him! Sometime I wake DH and he freaks out cause I'm freaking out!
Aries: Hope all is going well with the moving!
Jacstar: Yep same here with the teething! Coopers seem to come and go, so I never know what sort of day/night I'm going to have.
Luvmytum: Cooper is very similar with sleeping by the sounds of it. He still normally wakes between 1-3 and I even cluster feed in the evening and df between 10.30-11.30. And the last couple of nights he has decided that between 4.30-5.30 is a good time to wake up! These times I've just changed his bum and given him a feed and he's gone back down.
L&MMum:Good luck with DF
Boss: :fingerscrossed: you get the answers you are looking for on Friday. I will be thinking of you.
Tiredmummy: :hugs: to you and your little ones. Hope DD2 gets better soon and home with you. Can't believe her sats were 70% - Coopers weren't even that low before his op!
SammyG: I hear you on the whole lack of money issue! I just had to get an early release of super so we didn't lose the house! Big shock to the system so now we have a budget! Good on DS1 with the TT!
Korah: Wow! crawling here we come!

Coughs: Well I don't know if this works or not but apparently if you but Vicks rub on the soles of feet at night it stops coughing! Haven't tried it myself yet so.........

Us: Well we have started solids too - bout 1 1/2 weeks ago so nearly 6 months! So far he's had farex baby rice, pear and sweet potato. Loved the farex and pear but wasn't to keen on the sweet potata at first but now will eat it. I have some pumpking to cook up so will try him on that next week.
Well he is 6 months tomorrow (god time flies) and he his just about sitting by himself. Still a bit wobbly but I just put a boomerang pillow around him and he seems to do alright! Still isn't rolling but thats probably because he still doesn't have a lot of tummy time - absolutely hates it! He would much rather prefer to be in his jj! He jumps so high in it he bottoms the spring out!
Getting some pro photos done on Tuesday so hopefully he will be in a good mood and give us some smiles!
We went to a young mums meet here in Brissie last week which was good as we met a few new ppl. Am going to another one next week so will hopefully meet a few more!
Not much more to say except GO QLD!!!!

Anyways bye for now, Shaz :)

PS. Sorry for the long post!

A quik bubhub fix while I can.....nice to know I've been missed Flicka!

Been so busy lately, don't know doing what but this is first time I've sat down at the computer in days. I thought having DH home would make things easier (even if he is temporarily crippled) but I seem even busier, this business of making meals for bubs takes up a fair bit of extra time too. Took a few days but the poos have definitely changed now, had a giant one last night - am I the only one who struggles to keep bubs hands and feet out of the steaming mess? Stomped his foot in it yesterday and got it squished between the toes....and then wanted to suck them  !

Had one good night but C otherwise still very unsettled. We were meant to have pixie photos done on Tues but the eczema has gotten even worse on his face and spreading to other body parts now too so have postponed it. I think the itching is what makes him keep waking up. So frustrating trying to get him back to sleep. I feed a couple of times and rock the other times but not very successful when he is crying & clawing at his face  . I had made a hairdressers appointment in preparation for the photos and kept it anyway and left C with DH while I got pampered. Forgot how lovely a head massage was! Had it all chopped to about shoulder length and really love how it looks. Sadly after I wash it tomorrow I know it won't look anywhere near as good because I am absolutely hopeless at styling it myself :D .

Am meant to be talking to work about starting to do a few hours work from home.....on a good day that seems manageable but at the moment I have no idea how to fit that in at all!

A selfish post, hope to be back more regularly once DH is back at work and I have my routine back!

LOL Cat, yep hard to keep hands/feet out of the nappy area while changing, Katie as soon as naked trys to grab her "uhumm" lol but yep talk about wriggle and giggle time!
heh Im the same too, hopeless at keeping the hair the same style as what I left there with, postponed day out to Sunday as DP is working Saturday now so it definitely wont be the same now. Hope you can get the photos done soon.

Shaz: haha yer lucky at the moment, ds2 is again at ds1's house for the night ( has new xbox lol ) so lounge room has privacy for now. story to tell next bub when asked where conceived? LOL They are suppose to come tomorrow morning YAY!
A little back I posted when Katie had a cold general section and was advice regards vics on feet too! Yet to try it, sounds weird but you never know and cant do harm?
Hope your photo day goes well.

Korah: Love the pic. Will have to try katie on bread soon, so hard to find lunch things!

Sammy: LOL very very true, You said what I was going to say but chickened out! So far between now as if they would complain for fear of no more?:laughing:

Mummysgirl: Thanks, am so looking forward to it! though is Sunday now. ah well least it still happening. Love your avatar lol and yay for the getting knees up. wont be long!

Katie again polished off baby yoplait for lunch, must be very yummy! Only had vanilla where got so hope they have more variety.
Her teeth are hurting a bit more today, they are way through, maybe tender? Shes grizzled and spat bottle a few times today.

better go
good sleeps to all!

Tabby - glad your roof is FINALLY getting fixed. Yes, I think it is fine to go overdue a little while with the needles. We waited for a couple of weeks with Kelsey on the 4 month ones and doc said it was fine.

Cat - So glad you are back. Us Tsvl girls have gotta look out for each other!!! sorry to hear about Cameron's eczema. Any natural remedies/therapies you could try?? Glad you had your hair done - I'm sure it looks lovely.
As for preparing the baby food - are you doing bulk and feezing??? I just line an ice cube tray with plastic wrap and freeze the food - then store them in zip lock bags in cubes. Also, muffin trays lined with glad wrap work well for bigger portions.

On the subject of baby food - any reccomendations for good kids cookbooks??? I have 2 womens weekly ones (an older version and a new one) which are fantastic. Plenty of good ideas.

sammy - glad TT is going well. My DS has been really good for about a month with very few accidents and is even doing number 2's on loo sometimes. he is still wearing nappies to bed though as I can't face changing sheets at 2am at the moment!!! We find those $2 matchbox cars have been a great incentive for him to use the loo for 2's.

Sorry, no more personals as kelsey is calling out.

Cheers

:hugs: to those of you who need them at the moment.

Lunch ideas...Weetbix is our fall back for meals. If I can't find anything else TJ gets weetbix with a different fruit mixed in. Tabby, with DD1 I just gave her Brownes natural yogurt with fruit rather than the expensive baby yogurts. TJ is going ok back on the regular formula, so she'll be getting a taste of yogurt this weekend.
Change mat...with TJ, it's no so much a challenge to keep her feet out of the dirty nappy, but keeping her on the table. All she wants to do is roll over.
Tabby...:smiliedance: your roof is getting fixed, just in time for the rain that will be here over the weekend.
Charis...love the new avatar!
Aries...all the best for your flights tonight!

Not overly good sleeps this week, think it might have something to do with the formula change again. :fingerscrossed: TJ settles into a better routine soon.

Good sleeps to everyone,

Tabby, great news about the roof. Some people are just awful aren't they? My mum's previous neighbours used to throw all kinds of things onto her pool cover - metal bolts that could kill someone and put hideous holes in her brand new cover. Thankfully they have moved on. Other vandals attacked the whole street removing letterboxes and even a row of newly planted shrubs in mum's front yard!

Flicka, B started with #2s first. He must have been really ready, Day #5 today and we have been good all day today. He wore a nappy out but even asked to go to the loo while at a play centre! And get this - his reward is a BIG HOORAY!!!!! Not changing that till I have to!

Cat, I always kept a tub of riccotta handy to mix with fruit too! Just for something a little different and mild tasting.

Lukeandmattsmum, glad things are getting better, isn't it great to vent in here though? - some things you don't want your everyday friends/family to know and remember later on!

Thanks Mouse, Will be a lot cheaper Brownes one am sure so will be grabbing those Saturday shop, cheers for that.
Hope you get those better sleeps again soon. :fingerscrossed:for you.

Sammy: yep, vandalism like that angers me. No idea why or who! ah well, just hope its a one off.
What a good boy!!!!! Sounds like he was ready yep. well done to Ben! :smiliedance:

Roofs all done, he just came back then with new tiles, YAY I get my loungeroom back lol.
and to sleep in my own room. Just in time for BDing!!! 4 days to Ov phew!!

oh forgot. I gave Katie a milk arrowroot bickie to munch on and I fretted about hunks through the whole thing, had to retrieve a couple but alls well. who would have thought weaning would be so worrisome!!! am sure I wasn't like this with ds1 & 2 ??!!!!
Rather odd, third time rnd yet more a worrier, you would think I would breeze through it lol
Am going to make chicken noodle broth type stuff next week, should be interesting lol.
I never home cooked things like that for the boys, think that was my downfall as to their eating habits now. trying not to make the same mistake with Katie. Going well so far, she eats more greens/veg now than DP & sons combined at their age lol.

SammyG: Hope everything works out with the finances, we stress about money here too...

Korah: What amazing eyelashes Macy has!!!! I know, you put falsies on her didn't you.. hehehe. :D

Shazza: Chloe does the same thing bottoming out the spring in the jj!! It is the funniest thing! She cracks herself up when she does it, and then does it some more. I'm surprised she doesn't end up with whiplash sometimes. I tried putting it up one link, but then she can't touch the ground at all... Oh and YAY QLD! lol, well we lost last night, but we fought hard, and still won the series. :yelclap:

Cat: :hugs: for your DS. Poor thing, he must be so miserable! Hope you can find some way to soothe him soon... Horrible for him, and horrible for you with no sleep!
Are you still bf? I did hear a discussion recently at a mothers group about babies having eczema from nuts or a couple of other things in their mum's diet. Apparently peanut butter is the worst. Could that be a possibility?

We have the same problem on the change table as mousebrown: Chloe just wants to roll over! Tonight it took me about 7mins to get her nappy on after her bath, lol!!

Tabby: Firstly, glad that roof is finally fixed, took long enough for them to do it!
Thanks re: the avatar! One of many very messy but fun feeds... I can't wait to start yoghurt, it must be easier than pureeing foods every few days. I do the freezing thing but she goes through it all pretty fast.

mousebrown where do you get the Brownes yoghurt??

L&M'smum: Glad to hear things are a bit better now... No-one needs extra stress like that!

As far as bread, weetbix, and milk arrowroots: how old is old enough to start them on that kind of stuff???

Any Brissie girls going to the baby expo this weekend?? (btw, you can print free tickets off their website.)

Last night we had a small (but felt huge) success. Chloe only woke up ONCE last night, at 3.15. My boobs were hard as a rock and killing me!! LOL!! I think i got about 6hrs uninterrupted sleep and when she woke me up I felt amazing, like I'd been asleep all night or something. It was fantastic. I hope it happens again tonight, but it's probably not likely. Oh well, I'm thankful for that one night.

DH is food shopping right now, what a great guy! :smiliedance:

Hope you all have a good night.

Mummysgirl - baby falsies are the latest fashion trend didnt you know  Her dad and I both have kinda long lashes but she beats us hands down. They go right up to her eyebrows!!

As for the arrowroot biscuit/bread question I would give it to your bubs when you think they are ready. I'd probably go the biscuit option first as they are a bit harder and bits dont tend to break off as easily as bread. Just keep an eye on them and see how they go. Sometimes Macy does really well and other times a bit will get stuck and she coughs it up

Tabby - glad you got your roof fixed. Might join you on the BD quest soon hehe Although I said I'd like a baby born later in the year so would probably need to leave it for another couple of months. But we're not doing anything to prevent conception hahaha

Hmm well Im waiting for hubby to get home so he can watch the kiddies while i have a nice long hot shower. Have a busy day tmrw, we are meant to be having a garage sale on the weekend but hubby informed me that he is now working on saturday so i dont know quite how i'll manage with macy by myself. Hi everyone - just a quick update.. am STUFFED tonight. No idea why because she slept through last night for the first time since we got back from holidays (weeks).

Maybe it's coz yesterdya was the first day we went 3 meals in the day... she was really needing it... it's such a drag getting up on time for brekky and then when I went out for coffee had to take lunch along... I don't know how you formula feeding mum's manage getting out of the house!!

Caitlin tried yoghurt today as well.... I was a bit concerned as they say dont add sugar ra ra ra and the list of ingredients on the side had all that stuff in it. But hey, she loved it.

this wasn't as exciting with lots of personals as I thought it would be - but must get dinner going... bye :)

Hi everyone

Just a quick update. Been at the hopsital all day & need sleep. DD2 was moved this afternoon from ICU to the ward but still on oxygen & will be for a while. She was pretty grumpy today but shes been thru a lot overnight & shes just over it!
Shazza - Her sats always get that low when she gets like this & sometimes even when shes on oxygen she will de-sat to around 70-80. The hospital were extremely surprised that her sats were on 70 and she was still talking & awake.
She is getting very tired cos of working hard & struggling but she will get there. Its just an exhausting time for all of us. I had Sierra in there with me today & my mum had DD1 but Sierra cracked it & only slept for 20 mins for the whole day so she was quite grumpy, upset & overtired.
Shes fast asleep now so hopefully she stays that way most of the night.
Going to go get some sleep myself.

Hi all, my turn to vent!

Blardy DH feels responsible for his parents and doesn't understand why I absolutely refuse to lend them any more money! We are in debt up to our eyeballs while they have a new credit card with a zero balance. It's about time they learnt to manage money better. They would pay off the credit card super quick but you can bet they would take ages to pay us back from the miniscule nest egg I have managed to hang on to! DH and his Dad work together so they earn exactly the same amount as us - why should I skimp and save and pay my bills just to lend it them. MIL recently quit her job of 1 yr as it was getting too hard on her hands, fair enough, but I suggested she save a little 1st, NO she had quit at the next shift without saving a cent! I have no more sympathy for these people.

Sorry for the b***h, DH has the dirts with me bigtime but he did agree last time this happened that it would be the last time and now he is backtracking! Would this be a dealbreaker for anyone else?

Hi everyone

Tired*mummy - Glad Ally is on the mend. Poor little mite!

LukeandMattsmum - Good to hear you are working things out.

Food - I thought they couldn't eat wheat products like bread, milk arrowroots etc till 7 months?

Us - Fine here. Went to the clinic nurse at the chemist today - all good. She is measuring on the 50th percentile for everything. Little miss average!! I also discussed her feeding and sleeping habits, and she was (surprisingly) approving of my introduction of solids before the magic 6 months. The only thing she thinks I need to work on is day sleeps - particularly the afternoon one as that is the one she is meant to keep until she is about 3. So I need to work on resettling her for that one. Will start that next week as we are having a bit of work done on the house tomorrow then am away at Mum's for the weekend.

SammyG - your own little family needs to come first. If you can't afford to lend the in-laws money, then tell them to bugger off - particularly as it sounds like they have just been irresponsible. Remarkable given their age and experience!!!

Just a quick one.
SammyG: agree with ellembee: I would tell them to forget it. You guys need to come first, and DH needs to see that. I understand what you mean, my mum makes an awful LOT of money but has no money in the bank whatsoever. She always makes bad financial decisions and spends it all on cr*p and then complains about having no money. I try to help her see what she's doing (but don't ever lend her money, not that she would belittle herself enough to ask, all about image for her) but she keeps doing the same stupid stuff, so I have given up there... I'm sure DH will come around after he has time to think on it more... Men hate to admit they're in the wrong! hehe
I think you're right to stand your ground. Good luck!!!

Sammy - Sometimes I think that some men find it difficult to stand up to their parents but I agree with what the other girls have said - your family comes first and foremost!! And yes, a bit of a deal breaker in my book....maybe if your DH could see giving them money as taking away things from the kids????? Hope you manage to get him to see things your way - sometimes my DH needs a kick up the pants when it comes to his parents!!

Morning all

Sammy: Agree with all thats been said..Hope DH starts to see that and all works out ok :hugs:

Tiredmummy: :hugs: again and glad dd is out of icu and hope she can be home real soon! Poor darling

Cordelia: Hope you got another good night and feel more rested than yesterday?
Regards ff and going out, I dont feel I do much more to go out, I make bottles up with the water every night anyhow so really only pack the bottles in bag and add a container of formula. Somehow it all comes together much better though given time, it does become easier , soon youll be able to pack a bag for a whole day out blind folded  and in 2 minutes.

Ellembee: mm I must admit I should get working on that arvo sleep too! She just wont sleep properly cot in the day, have tried everything!!!
Yet night shes out like a light in minutes and through to 530-6am! I just cant work it out.
All the best with the renovations!

Korah: Lovely another ttc buddy!! I feel rather lonely lol.
I started the pre-preg vitamins etc ( elevit ) last week and dont know if coincidence or not but wow do I feel good lately, less tired and much more energy since day2 of taking them, I must have been lacking something??!!
oh got to run, lots to do! hair cut day WOOHOO!!!

Hi everyone

Sammy: Im with everyone else here and don't think you should lend the in-laws the money. How else are they suppose to learn (although they should know by now) if ppl keep lending them money. I know DH prob feels bad cause its his parents but he'll get over it!
TiredMummy: Great to hear she isn't in ICU anymore and that she is still awake and chatty even with such low sats! Hope she is on the mend now and :hugs: to you and family for the tough time! Now you must really be a "tired mummy"!
Ellembee: Glad to hear everything is "average"! And I don't think I'll ever have to stop working on day sleeps!
Korahblue: Just think of all the money you will be saving if you have a home brew kit! Well I know we would if DH actually got up of his butt and made it!
mummysgirl: nope not going to the expo this year - just couldn't be bothered with all the crowds and pramrage! And I hear you on the sore bb's. I didn't feed Cooper last night and actually woke up before him this morning cause they were so sore and hard! Yeah for the big sleep!
Tabby: Glad to hear the roof is fixed and you're back in the bedroom for the big O day! GL!!!

Us: Not much going on here - am going to go to Kmart/BigW and put some stuff on layby today.
Last night I finally bit the bullett and followed the baby whisperer idea of not feeding during the night except for the df. I was worried that he would be starving though but after looking into it a bit found that he can now go 8 hours or more without eating without any worries. So he woke at 8.30 and I put him back down, then at 9.30 and I put him back down (all this with some terrible crying - god I felt bad). At about 11.30 I gave him a df and I was hoping he wouldn't wake up again but he did at bout 12.30 so I put him back down and then again at bout 1.30! The 1.30 one was the hardest - prob went for bout 1/2 hour of screaming. DH even came and shut the doors cause he woke him up! I felt bad but got him back down and the next thing I know I woke up at 6.45 with mega sore bb's and still not a peep out of Cooper. I actually went and checked he was still breathing and then tossed and turned till he woke at 7.00.
So now :fingerscrossed: that it gets easier tonight and I won't have to settle as much and then we are one step closer to sleeping the night!

Wow - sorry for the long post!
Cheers, Shaz :)

PS. I was going to do a PS but now I can't remember what it was!! BBL if I think of it!

Shazza

PS: I finally got a hair cut! Woo hoo! Feel great and its nice and short so little hands can't grab at it!

lol Shazza, Same here, cant wait get the cut!! mines about half way down back now and forever in a ponytail, so might as well lop it all off! Can then do it much easier in the mornings too. less hassle!
:fingerscrossed: for you that tonight and so forth do get better re: sleeping through am sure it will as sounds like not far off with a bit of encouragement!

oh Last night I went driving with ds1 and his "L's" to late night shop, I decided a bit of makeup for a change and typical males! all 3 (ds1 and 2 and DP) say " where you going and why the makeup?" lol shows how long since!!! DP's was the best though, the expression with it was rather sussas in thinking " hmm why does she have makeup on?" hahhaa

Again long time since last post, my life feels ultra crazy going back to work with a little one. I have been saying to my mum for weeks now 'No More Kids!!', I mean how do people cope with everything with more than two children? Then I find out a couple of days ago that I am going to need to learn how to cope.........:bfp: Aaarrgh!!!
So now feeling a little scared and worried about how to cope. A definite surprise. Not sure when I am due, will keep you posted, thinking end of Feb maybe??

Tired Mummy-:hugs: go out to you and your little girl. I hope she starts getting better now she is out of ICU

Tabby- Have been reading but not posting for a while- sorry to hear about the storm damage, what a bummer!! The weather across Australia has been wicked lately!!

Anyways apart from the shock pregnancy, we are all fine. No major hurdles, just extremely busy most of the time. Will try to catch up again soon, I am on holidays which feels really great.

Oh WOW - Looks like its all starting again with the TTC and pregnancy's
Congrats liviesmum on the:bfp: . I think I have said this b4 but our NO 3. was a HUGE suprise. Having said that I wouldnt change it for the world. Just try and enjoy the pregnancy. I completely understand that its a freak out. I cried for 1 week straight when I found out. It all works out for the best. :smiliedance:

Tired mummy - Hope everything continues on the up and up.

Tabby: Enjoy the time out and ask for a extra long head massage.

Charis - I know I am late but I love the new Avatar.

Sammy- I am sorry you have been put in this situation. Very hard for both you and your man. Its so hard to say no to your parents. Stay strong and dont let it cause to much trouble for you guys. HAving said that. I agree you have to stand your ground. Your family has to come first. Good Luck.

Us - Well I am still having HUGE problems with the MIL. It is really stressing me out. Thanks goodness the kids have all been great. Sienna is finally consistently sleeping through the night. :yelclap: She still hasnt started ANY solids at all. I figure I'll wait till she seems to be needing them or a 6 months which ever comes first.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Liviesmum, congrats on the BFP, I'm sure everything will be fine once you get over the initial shock. Question : Were you BF or had AF returned?

Tabby, Enjoy getting the chop, if you haven't gone yet just remember sometimes it is more work to do short hair than shove it all in a clip or pony - I have just grown mine back to my shoulders after getting the chop when B was little! If I didn't style my short hair everyday i couldn't leave the house!

Cordelia, you get into the rhythm of FF. I rinse all day and wash B's many drink bottles at night and sterilise the pump all in one big load! When FF B I used to fill all the bottles (8) with boiled water and know I was set for just over a day.

Everyone, thanks for all the support over outlaws and money. DH will hopefully come around, hard as he has been responsible for so much of their everyday lives since he was about 16 or so! Very hard to get him to understand they will never take care of themselves until he stops doing everything for them. I just ask him if he would expect his boys to take care of us one day!!!

TT stepped up a notch today, B now taking himself off to loo by himself and just coming and telling me afterwards. I can't tell you how proud I am! Only trouble is he has now discovered his willy and showed me his 'big' one a few moments ago. Undies allow for easy access LOL.

M's cough is getting better, he's been sound asleep for over an hour. Panadol is definitely helping him get some rest and I wish I had shares in FESS.

Liviesmum - Congrats on your :bfp: , Welcome to the club lol. Don't worry i fell pregnant 4 months after having Talon and boy what a shock to the system. Considering I have 2 step kids living with us aswell. So when January comes around i will have 4 kids to look after. But in saying that i'm enjoying every little moment with Talon and this pregnancy.

Tabby - Glad to hear the roof is fixed..Enjoy the time at the hairdressers.

SammyG - I agree with other people! You have to stand your ground darl. YOUR family comes first. I have a mother that complains to me all the time about money. I just say to her well we all have money problems and i change the subject lol. She knows now not to whinge to me cause i don't listen.

TiredMummy - So glad to hear DD is out of ICU :smiliedance: . Lets hope its a speedy recovery for her.

Cheers Kel

Mummysgirl...'Brownes' is a WA brand. Just go for the natural yogurt, no flavour (not even vanilla). As for Bread (use the crust as it's harder for bub to break bits off), Weetbix etc, TJ has been eating them since about 5 months. I don't think there's a definate time to start these things, it's when you're comfortable doing it.
Tiredmummy...:hugs: for you and DD2
Cordelia...going out gets easier. Last Sunday we (Me & 2 DD) suddenly decided to go out and within half an hour we had gone from our PJ's, packing all required food/clothes etc for a day trip, fed TJ a weetbix and were out the door. I always have a bag ready with spare clothes for the girls, and after a while you can pack without thinking.
KorahBlue...MY DH has been home brewing for 8 years now. Don't know if it saves us lots of money, as some of his mates think it's alright for DH to supply all the beer when they visit. DH is also too quick at opening the next bottle:banghead: .
Liviesmum...Congrats on the :bfp:
Shazza...good luck with sleeping through. I'm too scared to let TJ cry much at night as it wakes DD1 up, then I have two monsters awake at an ungodly hour  .

Changing TJ back to the lactose free formula again as her poos have reverted back to being yucky in the past day. We'll give her a few more weeks before trying again.

Little b#gger decided 5.15 was wake up time this morning. Tried to resettle her but she wasn't having any of it, blowing raspberries and talking.

Sound sleeps everyone,

Liviesmum - Congrats!!! How exciting for you!!!

Sammy - You asked the question I was thinking....I have been so slack regarding contraception since Kelsey was born and often wonder if it will lead to a 'surprise'. should be a bit more careful I suppose but have been hoping that b/f would work for a little while....

06-07-2007, 17:46
Hi everyone

First, congratulations Liviesmum on your surprise. I know you must be shocked - but I am such a firm believer in fate. It is obviously meant to be. There must be some important reason why your little girl or boy needs to be on this earth - and really, how exciting is that! Nothing, nothing, nothing, is better than that!

Mousebrown - hope you didn't think I was critisizing for introducing wheat product early (well "early" according to nazi clinic nurses). My query was just a dumb "first timers" query. As you all know, I introduced solids early - so I really don't know why I asked the question, as like you, I think it is all a matter of instinct.

Us - horrendous, horrendous day. G was cross all day. My carpenter tried to rip me off and refused to leave the house and give back the key - so I had to call DH home from work to sort it out. How come tradesmen think they can pull the wool over women's eyes? The compromise DH and he came to was exactly the compromise I suggested - but NO I am just a stupid woman, and why would he take me seriously! Its just not fair prickly pear!

Hi everyone

LiviesMum - Big Congrats on the :bfp: How exciting. I was worried about having 3 too but its been really good.

Thanks everyone for the :hugs:
Have been at the hopsital all day again & Ally hasnt improved at all but hasnt gotten any worse so i suppose thats a good thing in a way. She is still working very hard with her breathing & is still on oxygen. Her oxygen goes down when they take her mask of for a minute but doesnt go as low as it did yesterday or the night before. She has been extremely exhausted today though, i got in there at 8.30am & she didnt wake up until 2:30 & she slept all night. So shes very very grumpy & cracking it at everything but cant really blame her. Sierra had a better day though today so it was alot easier. She laid in her pram for 2 hrs just playing with her toys so i was happy. She still only slept twice for half hour each time but is asleep now so thats good. Dr's havent said how long it will take for Ally to get better but its just upto her & how fast or slow it happens. There is not much they can do for her besides give her oxygen. I'm having a break tomorrow & DH is gonna go in all day so hopefully will be able to catch up on some sleep.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

A general thanks to everyone for support a couple of weeks ago over Cameron's test reslts re his kidneys and more recently for our sleepless nights & eczema. Was up countless times again by 3am this morning & enough was enough so once he was settled brought him into our room in his pram. He stirred a bit but I just reached out a hand from my cozy bed and he pretty much slept until 7. THANK GOD. Not that I know why it made a difference. And his skin's a bit better today, have started using Cetaphil a couple of times a day & lots of moisturising. Don't think it's related to what I'm eating but am keeping a mental note of when flare ups occur in case I can find a link.

Liviesmum - a big congratulations. Part of me is very jealous (& part is not!). You'll manage just fine though.

Tired Mummy - some more :hugs: for Ally & the whole family. Not a fun time for anyone.

Korah, my DH started home brewing earier this year & loves it. Experiments with new beers all the time and does end up cheaper. Except I'm sure he actually drinks more beer now plus the extra beers he still buys "just for the bottles to put his next batch in to" !

Flicka, I am doing the whole cook up big batches and freeze thing so not so much preparing the food as the defrosting/feeding/cleaning etc. Getting quicker with practice though.

Tabby, not sure if you've had your hair done yet. Make sure not toooo short. The shorter layers of mine annoyingly are not quite able to be tied back. And, as suspected, it looks nowhere near as good now that I've washed it!

Sure I've forgotten something but that will have to do!

Nighty night.

Victoria: Yay for the sleep throughs, love the new avatar

Sammy: I had left when you posted, Yep got it about sitting on my shoulders, so can still pony tail it or clip up if need be. Can also leave and just towel dry as have a little curl in my hair so looks ok then too. Glad Michael is sleeping better and coughs starting to get better.
How wonderful with Ben!!!! No wonder your proud, I would be too, what a smart fellow!
LOL @ his showing you his big one. Shows how its there in the male species very early haha.

Hi Strawberry , Hope your feeling well? Sounds like this pregnancy is breezing along for you?

Mouse: ah pity about having to change back formula again. Hope you can soon. lol 5.15 wake and play..Katie is always 530 now! Just an hr more is all I ask.

Flicka: Got the parcel this arvo, Thankyou!!!
Had needed the long sleeve tops! The white cardi especially, is very very beautiful, to you!!!

Ellembee. argh glad dh got the workman sorted, what a @ss! Had the same with ds1's car, salesman tried it on me when there was mechanical problems after sale, make me pay for tow truck to repair? yer right, lol there is a reason ds1 put it in my name . I sorted him out quick smart.

TiredMummy: hope you get that much needed sleep. :hugs:

Cat: Yep didnt get that short so can tie back if need be. its layered slightly but not too much cant clip or tie.
Charis was saying a while back how she read somewhere that bubs always sleeps longer and better when near you, probably why he slept well last night. Keep doing it while hes restless, least you both will get good sleeps which am sure makes you both feel much better?

Well I must say am very impressed my hair, the best cut have had in yrs, you know the one where you walk out feeling great?!! I actually got a bit teary when she showed me in mirrors at the end. Its been WAY too long since a pamper and its made me feel like a woman again and not just someones Mum.
Have even booked in for the leg wax Tuesday, a first for me! So sick of shaving ( not that have for like 2 months lol )

huge post!! Sorry lol

good sleeps to all

Congratulations liviesmum :) that's 2 of us so far!! Who will be next!!

Cat - brilliant about the pram! I've been doing that lately as well... just get too tired to pace up and down and the pram works like a dream... dunno why... more cozy?

I cant remember whether I already said about Caitlin loving her yoghurt... am planning on examining the difference between baby yoghurt and other yoghurt in great detail tomorrow morning.

mmm a haircut.... I remember those. Am thinking of getting a friend to do it! Can't afford those kind of luxuries around here these days!!

Speaking of luxuries - had to go to town today in the train (Caitlin's secodn train trip!) to pick up my CROWDED HOUSE TICKETS!!! Concert's not til November but I've already booked babysitters (mum and dad)... sooooo excited!! I'm used to going to dozens of concerts every year.. this will be the one and only this year... but worth it!!

In-laws: hope everyone's sorting out their issues... it's so much healthier and beneficial to be upfront and honest I found. It took me a long time to put away the politeness and step up and do that.

Well we finally arrived last nite, so glad to be over with the flying etc; It wasn't too bad actually as X slept for most of it!
It's so nice to be home and just beautiful here at the moment, nice and sunny about 30C. Bit jetlagged, and so is X as all he's done is sleep, which is great for us, lol. hi all!

I've been MIA cause of intermittent internet access that was REALLY slow. I gave Josh a real trial off his reflux medication last weekend cause I was having SO much trouble to get him to take a bottle. He seemed ok for a day or so, but by Monday he was shocking! He had 9 feeds in 24 hours! eik! And he was struggling to go more than 2 hours between feeds and would scream and scream. So, I restarted the medication on Tuesday and the little rascal drank from a bottle perfectly as though there hadn't been a problem. That just confirms that whatever caused him to go to hospital 2 weeks ago was actually something that made him quite sick. It's so hard when they can't talk, isn't it? He must have been feeling unwell for the whole week! Poor baby!

He's a lot better now and sleeping lots and lots to recover from when he was sick.

liviesmum ... congrats on the :bfp:

tiredmummy ... sorry to hear that Ally isn't well. I hope she gets better really soon!

cordelia ... my understanding about milk products is that babies can't have cows milk til they are 12 months old cause their guts can't handle it. I assume that yoghurt made from cows milk is also a no-no

cat ... glad the ezcema is getting better. I hope he has more nights of extended sleep.

Morning all
Mim: Good to see you back, Glad Josh is much better and after the other day all is sorted.
I actually read up on cheese's and yogurt before giving to Katie and you can start now, the thing thats in milk thats bad is removed in the process of making cheese/milk. I tried to find the pages but cant, there was a lot who said it was ok before 12 months :)

Aries!! What beautiful weather there! Envy you immensely lol. Glad the flight went well and X wasnt too bothered.

Yesterday was Katies first day off reflux formula she hasnt sicked up once!!!!!! So happy can ditch the AR now. Twice the cost and you cant pre make or store made up bottles.

will try get back later, katies in the bin!!lol

Found it

This is one of the most commonly asked questions of them all. What is the magic of Yogurt and Cheese that makes it OK to give to my baby before 1 year old?

The truth is, there is NO great magic in Yogurt or Cheese! The most common reasons for it being allowed prior to age 1 year old are:
Unlike Whole Cow Milk beverage, your baby is not at risk of formula/breast milk being replaced by Yogurt or Cheese.
The medical community worries that if Whole Cow milk is introduced to an infant prior to 1 year old, that parents would stop formula and/or breastfeeding and use Milk as the replacement. This would possibly be dangerous to your baby's health!
Lactose is already broken down with the culturing of the yogurt or cheese and milk proteins are either removed or limited thus it is typically easier to digest; people with lactose intolerance often are be able to handle cheese and/or yogurt without trouble. The same is true for some people with a milk protein (either to the casein or the whey) allergy.I didnt check out the other yogurts and decided no-one else here eats it so a bigger tub would get wasted anyhow, went with vaalia 6 pack baby banana ones, just the right size for her meals.
Ive also added grated cheese ( a little ) to her potato/pumpkin last night and boy did she love it!

FLIP I JUST LOST MY LAST POST!!!!

A big thankyou to everyone for your kind words of congratulations and support for the :bfp: ! I am still in a state of disbelief and racking my brain to remember my last a/f. Will go to Dr next week to sort it all out.

Funnyspot- DD1 was in my bathroom last night and found the used pregnancy test. She came out and said 'Mummy what is this, I found it and I took the lid off and had a sniff and it smells really bad', (I know TMI). Of course I pi$$ed myself laughing and told her it was to check for infections and to go wash her hands!

Tabby- Thanks for that info, I had wondered about that stuff. We were on a picnic the other day and Bridget had some cheese, she really loved it too. I wondered if it was something I could actually give her.

Tired Mummy- I hope Ally starts to get better soon, what a nightmare having a child that sick!

Ellembee- Sorry to hear about that A$$ of a tradesman. They like to make others feel small to cover up how stupid they really are!

MIM1- My DD1 had reflux and I dont think she was really over it until about 9 months, she couldn't even have water without bringing up the entire contents of her tummy:barf: . The yucky AR formular and the infant gaviscon was what I used but would always trial her without to see if she was getting over it. It did make life harder I think now that I have Bridget (who is not a reflux baby) to compare it to.

Anyways need to go get in the shower, will catch up later!!

Thanks Tabby  It is one of my favourite pictures of her at the moment. So glad the haircut went well. It makes me think perhaps I should do the same.

Aries: So glad the trip went well and X was good for you on the flight. You can breath again now and relax.

Mim - Glad to hear things have settled down for you again. You have had a rough spot lately.

Cordelia - I saw Crowded House on Sunrise on Friday morning. I am SOOOO jelous. You are so lucky. I love you have arranged the babysitting already. Not leaving anything to chance hey.

TiredMummy - Firstly my hat comes off to you. The fact that you are still functioning amazes me. I struggle with 3 kids and I dont have one that is in hospital. Big hugs to you. wow congrats on the :bfp:

hope all the bubbas and siblings that are sick are feeling much better now ..

tayla had her endoscope yesterday - they are just awaiting biopsies now - not look great though - she has inflammatino in her oesophagus ... so hence all the screaming - her reflux meds haven't been enough to help her ..poor bubba :crying:

so maybe mon or tues (dr was rushing results through) we should get the answers .. they discussed the possiblity of it being eosinophilic oesophagitis (sp?) so depending on the level present in her oesophagus ... we will have to wait and see - will also show what allergies if any she has... :( but atleast we can change her meds and put her on some neocate and get her some much needed help :)

thanks all and will catch up again .
take care

Tabby - Glad you got a great hair cut you lucky thing!!! And no dramas about the clothes. I know it wasn't much but I am more than happy to share.

Aries - Yay - you arrived safe and sound and are back.

Agree with what Tabby has said regarding yoghurt - I think baby ones in a jar first followed by the real thing. Very good easy and nutritious meal for them too!!

Tired mummy - :hugs: . I take my hat off to you too. You are obviously an amazing mother/woman.

Boss - so glad you popped to keep us posted. Atleast you are on your way to having some answers and from what you have said it will be manageable. You have been thru so much the last 6 months and I admire your strength and patience thru it all. You and tired mummy are so amazing!!

Have a great day!!!

Mim: Glad to help! Ive been rather confused by it all of late and couldnt work out why seeing Katie is no3 for me, then realised, ds1 I lived with mum so had her guidance and knowledge and ds2 she looked after him while I worked so same again that plus a 15 yr gap!!!lol this time Ive been much more independent from her so its like a first for me lol.
So thank goodness for the net to help! lol

victoria: If you can get your hair done I highly recommend it, I felt wonderful after and still do, great pick me up to feel I look better, have even bothered with makeup regularly lately too to help feel like me again! oh and the look on DP's face when I arrived home made it even more worth while.

liviesmum: LOL @ dd1!!!! How funny that would have been.
I have been lucky by the looks with Katie re reflux, day 2 of regular formula and no sickup, am wrapped! One less hassle.

boss: Thanks for keeping us updated, :fingerscrossed: for the results and hope they are the best result they can possibly be and lead to a much happier Tayla :hugs:

Flicka: I think another reason I chose the baby yogurt that they now sell in the fridge dept was that it also says easier on babys tummy plus the size of the 6 pack is perfect so no wastage. More cost than regular yogurt but cheaper than baby tins.

We will be sharing a roast with her tonight, another first...Roast potato/pumpkin etc should be yummy! Love seeing her expressions on the first time tasting something..

Tomorrow is my "me" day!!!!! Planned so far, subi markets shop/browse and lunch then the movies and visit DPs brother after that depending on time. I didnt care what movie and didnt have any preference and told DP he could decide.....
transformer movie!!!! hahhahhaha Oh well the effects should be good? lol

Hi everyone,
Thanks again for all the :hugs: & kind words. It really does help. I am having a bit of a rest today. Trying to get some washing done but it started raining so all the dry washing that took days to dry is now wet again & i have 2 baskets of wet washing that i will have to put on the clothes airers & try to get dry under the ducted heating vents. DH went into the hospital this morning. We both had a bit of a sleep in & Ally was still fast asleep when we called the nurses @ 10am so that was good that she wasnt upset of anything, but shes always really good with staying in hospital so that makes things easier. Anyway the dr's tried her off oxygen last night & she lasted 2 hours before she needed it again & they tried again this morning & she lasted 3 hrs. So they will just eventually wean her off it as they usually do. Shes a bit more happy today so thats good too. I'm really hoping that it wont be too much longer before she can come home but trying not to get my hopes up. Everytime i do we always have a set back, but trying to stay positive anyway.

Had a call from a police station last night @ midnight, someone had turned in DH's wallet, which they found at the footy last night. Funny that he lost it there & it was found a week later. I had to laugh though because he picked it up this morning & who ever found it took all his money but left him 20 cents  Quite funny.
Sierra still isnt 100%, gave her some infant demizin drops last night & this morning & she seems a bit happier. Hopefully she can get better before Ally comes home. DH is sick now but that was expected lol.
Tabby - Hope you have a great "me" day tomorrow. I'm sure its well deserved. All of us mums deserve days like that occassionally. I'm hoping for one soon lol.
Bossoflatch - Hope you get some answers soon. :hugs:
Victoria - Wow that is a long sleep. Love it when that happens.
Liviesmum - Hilarious about DD1 & the pregnancy test. I would have been on the floor laughing.
Aries - Glad you arrived safe & had a good trip.

Well better be off, my mum just bought DD1 home so have to keep her entertained.

Remembered these photos after I read your story Liviesmum, this was taken last May!

Tiredmummy, glad you and DH are getting some rest while DD doesn't know your'e missing and really happy she is on the mend!

Bossoflatch, I know it must seem like forever to you waiting for answers, sounds like you are finally close to getting them now!

Tabby, Enjoy your "me' day tomorrow, I will be taking care of both boys as DH is going to the footie tonight so I'm not expecting much from him in the parenting department. I was meant to have a sleep-in this morning but M was exercising his vocal chords from 6am till 9:30am when he finally slept!

Cordelia, great news about your Crowded house Tickets, the only concerts I will be seeing this year are Wiggles & Bob The Builder.

Victoria - Enjoy your remaining weekends, I'm weighing up whether it's worth going back to work on Sundays only. I have always worked weekends but they are becoming more and more precious with the ever growing family.

Aries, Can't believe you are that organised that you managed to pop in so quickly! Good to know your trip went well!

Mim, glad Josh is back to taking his bottle like a good little man!

Better go, gotta get 'noisy' Mr M to bed and sort out all of B's Thomas toys scattered throughout the place.

victoria - fantastic sleep :fingerscrossed: it continues!!

liviesmum - congratulations! I am sure it will be such a blessing

us - i am trying to cram in so much to everyday as i am going back to work full time on 16 july. god, i am going to miss geoffrey so much... my DH will be home full time with Geoffrey, so that is great, but i have spent every day of his life so far with him....its making me get a bit teary now....it is for the best that i go back to work, but it doesn't feel like that right now

GRRRRRRR :banghead: I just lost a huge post that took me a good 1/2 hour to do!!

So sorry but no personals this time but :hugs: to those who need them and :smiliedance: to those who want them!

Us: Well Cooper decided that he could roll from back to front yesterday and he is that much closer to sitting all by himself (still using the boomerang pillow at the moment!). And his teeth are playing up again - have been now for the last 2 months - wish they would hurry up and cut!

Anyways I'm going to go and enjoy my Sunday - hope everyone enjoys theirs!
Cheers, Shaz :)

hi girls
YAH for LiviesMum, congratulations!!!

Also huge congratulations to Tiredmummy for the job you're doing caring for all. Hope Ally is home v v soon.

Tabby :) I've been following the roof/ceiling and then haircut.. excellent that you're feeling great (and looking great too!) an awesome space to TTC in, he hehe. Hope yr ME day went v well.

Aries and Xavier, how cool are you!?? Awesome that you're on, on the other side of the world. So lovely to be home for you both and must be just wonderful for all the family. Yum tell us what a day holds for you now. And the yummy food you've missed! G8 X was lovely on plane.

Cat13, hope Camerons' skin clears up for you. I have v little knowledge about it, but use that paw-paw cream in red containers/tubes (for me+H) and it is great for healing and dryness.

SammyG so v funny posts these last pages :) The ready access is a v funny one..also of course the preg test photo. He he. And good for you for standing up to DH re $/ILs. Maybe he is quietly grateful that you did, as he can't.

BossofLatch excellent that Tayla is now diagnosed, phew! Also that Josh is back to normal for Mim1. Having our babies in pain (whatever age) is probably the worst thing possible, isn't it. :hugs: Thus so v v glad they are on way to recovery.

us: well we've been to my sisters place in the country for the weekend and before that an interstate friend to stay (in v front room!-actually he's back now..but went to sleep before Hunter!!) and ridiculous work day on Friday, 7.30 meeting and then 5hrs on building site.Phew. H was so v v tolerant, until at the end of it, he was hungry and tired and the carpenters started their drop-saw, OH OOPS, big big cry!! A relief for him to have a holiday and lots of Mummy time.

But the weekend was lovely. H v v happy at this time in his life. Played with chooks (well watched them) and looked at flocks of P+G Galahs and big spaces..and had a lovely weekend. I had an awesome break, so lovely food (crepes with paw-paw and coconut for brekky!!) and GOT A HAIRCUT TOO. YAH!! Also didn't read the advice on here, GEEZ maybe need an in-car hairdrier for driving/styling :)

But such frivolity. What I really meant to say It is such a wonderful time being a Mum!!

Tabby
09-07-2007, 08:05
Charis: oh I agree, wonderful time to be a Mum.
Every day is more wonderful to me.
Oh did I say how I got teary at the hair dressers?
It looked so great and made me feel so good to be a bit more me again that when she showed me it in the mirror my eyes filled with tears...wth????lol So not me!! Am going back tomorrow...leg wax!!! a first for me
I had to laugh at my self, fear of it??! I can try give birth a breech baby for 14 hrs labour ( more painful than normal) but am scared a leg wax?????? hahha.
You sound like you two had a wonderful week and weekend!

Shazza: YAY for Cooper rolling !

jacstar31 :hugs: for when you return to work.
Hope its a easy transition for you, well as easy as can be xxx

Sammy: LOL you left hpt in bathroom the same? hahha

TiredMummy: Hope your sweety is doing well still. xxx

Us: Yesterday was lovely!!! Dropped Katie off at 930 after breaky. browsed markets, drove freo, lunch, visited DP's brother and newly preg gf, movies..really enjoyed transformers, awesome effects! picked up Katie at 630, home to bath and bed a hr later. As always she was a treasure to look after apparently. ah to see my father, a hard man yet so smitten with her and made a real softie....hehhe.

uhoh grumble bum..yes new sound when enough of this walker/chair/whatever..its like a arghhrhrhghghhhhhhgrrrrrr LOL

LOL Tabby, that sounds like Cameron's favorite sound lately.

Glad you had a lovely weekend away Charis. Your joy at being a mum is infectious and makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside  .

The warm fuzzy feeling is helped by the fact we had an excellent night last night, slept 7 to 6 with absolutely no resettling. If only I knew what magic trick allowed this to occur so we can get repeat performances. :detective: He's also been down for 2 hours now for his nap so hopefully refreshed for our first 'Kids in Harmony' music/play session at 1pm this arvo. I have a batch of apple steaming on the stove for pureeing and all is well with the world.

Re. yogurt, C had half a tub of the Vaalia 'my first yogurt' banana flavour yesterday and loved it.

Question: We all know that the poos change after introducing solids ( ) but what about the wees?? C's wet nappies used to have little or no smell but now quite strong smelling (but still clear). Is this the solids? Or part of being a step closer to being a typical stinky male LOL?!

Tabby
09-07-2007, 09:28
LOL Cat, Cant remember if the boys had stinkier pee but you could be right
But can advise now that more solids are you introducing more water/juice&water? Might be why....It might just be more concentrated.
Cant remember if you bf or not, so if ff yep more water might help

Yep Katie loves that yogurt too!! Polishes off the whole tub with HUGE smiles and glee all through it.

DD has started solids a couple of weeks ago now and she eats pumpkin farex apple pear hates sweet potato loves carrot......Valentine carrot is her favourite. When did you start trying meat and dairy with your bubs??? Do I keep on the fruit and veg and farex for a while yet?

Take care all

Tabby
09-07-2007, 13:41
Rachel: We are a few weeks ahead of you solids so will tell you what Katie has and hope that helps:
Breakfast: weetbix made with formula & pureed fruit for taste instead of farex now.

Lunches and dinners
Pureed Potato with sweet potato or pumpkin.
Also add occasional broccoli or cauliflower for a change
And sometimes with grated cheese mixed in. a big favourite
Roasted vegies pureed and small amount of gravy ( gravy made from juices as store brought is too much salt )
Baby yogurts ( available yogurt section )
mashed banana

Dairy we have just started this last week. Today a new one after her yogurt..cruskit with cream cheese on it.
I tired to take it away and she growled at me lol.

You can induce dairy now, just not cows milk.
so cheese and yogurts are fine.
Meat, we are waiting a little longer, 7-8 months about is when they have the chewing motion worked out so should be ok then but still pureed and slowly getting bigger pieces over time.

Found a custard mix too. Farex company makes banana custard, much less waste as you make what you need. Yet to try that though.

Yes, agree with all that Tabby has said regading introducing foods and the ages for it.

Cat - I think you are right about the smellier nappies - I have noticed it too so don't think it is a boy thing!! I agree that it may just be the introduction of food affecting their wee rather than anything else. But yes boys are stinky!!! And it gets worse - my DS tries to hold me down to fart on me and he is only 2!!!

My Dad went back to Japan yesterday but lucky for me mum is still here for a couple of weeks. DH and I are going out for dinner alone while my mum babysits tonight.

So touching - when my dad said goodbye to my DS on Saturday night and explained he was going on a plane back to Japan - DS held his face with both hands and looked him right in the eye and said "I love you my Pa - I always will". So my mum and I were in tears. Kids can be so cute and such wise 'old souls' for their age.

Yes, Charis - isn't motherhood wonderful (well, 95% of the time anyway). I agree that you have a lovely way with words and seem to see the good in everything. It is such a nice quality and you will probably pass it on to Hunter too.

Hugs to you all and take care

Hi everyone

Some good news today. Ally will hopefully be able to come home tomorrow. She is doing well. Still very tired & not feeling the best as long as she doesnt go backwards overnight & need oxygen, they are happy for her to come home tomorrow. She wasnt eating or drinking a lot so they kept her IV in but today she seems to be eating & drinking so thats good. Will be happy when she is home again & we can get back into some sort of routine again. DH had the day off today so he's at the hospital with her & i'm trying to get washing done & clean the house, try to get rid of the cold/flu germs.
Its DH's 30th birthday on Wednesday... have no idea what to get him. We usually dont do anything big but just have a nice day (or evening if he works that day) but i really want to get him something cause its a big one & i'm having trouble thinking. Havent had time to go out & look around & i'm not sure if i will before wednesday lol. DH said he would be happy with another playstation2 or xbox game but i dont think so  He also suggested that we go clubbing on the weekend.. i just laughed & said he could go cos i'd be asleep by 10pm & if i had any drinks they would just put me to sleep quicker lol. I dont have much time left to think of something. If you have any ideas, feel free to share lol.

Great news tired mummy :) My DH's 30th birthday is in around 2 weeks as well... no idea what to get him. He would love a GPS but I don't think I can afford that so am thinking of getting him a coffee grinder with an assortment of coffee beans... not a very wifely gift is it!!

Caitlin has been have 3 meals a day and yesterday only had 3 milk feeds!! So, (usual me) panicked and went down to the baby clinic today... before I was sticking to brekky, lunch and dinner and then feeding on demand but I think I'll feed then giver her solids straight after from now on. Anyway!!! She's back to sleeping from around 9 until 6 so yay!

Flicka: that is very cute of your DS :) hoep you enjoy your night out!

I haven't noticed a wee change. But man, those poos....

TiredMummy: :fingerscrossed: alls well today and Ally will be home and improve in leaps and bounds!!!

Korah: Congrats for Macy's first toothy peg!!

Cordelia: Just a suggestion that you might need if having the bottle first fills her up too much and she wont want solids after it. Try giving her less at each meal, about half as much solids? That way she might still polish off her usual bottles.
Great news on those lovely sleeps! Makes a big difference thats for sure.

Katie has a new face. shes been trying to purse her lips and blowing..not sure what shes trying to do lol. looks like shes trying to whistle hahha.
Am off for the leg wax this morning..ouch?
Never had it done before but figure what the hell. I can give birth I can do anything as nothing really compares lol. I keep telling myself that anyhow lol.

hope there was nice sleeps all round

Hi all how are things today? I am ok but starting to get the M/S, slight nausea, so waiting for it to really hit. Only started last night and has continued again this am.

SammyG- Great photo, thats priceless. Kids are so so funny. After I told DD1 the stick was for testing for infections, she asked if she could wee on it too and see if she was ok!! A barrel of laughs!!

Tiredmummy- Great to see Ally can come home, a big relief I bet. Guess what my DH has his birthday on Wednesday too!!- He is getting clothes as he wont come shopping for them, plus he got his pressie 3 months ago. He got a petrol fuelled remote control car- it is worth $560 but we got it for $300 when Toyworld closed down. Boys and their toys- you can never go wrong.:yelclap:

WEES- I think are smellier on solids, and spews are more pungent too!

Tabby- I wish I could muster up the courage for a leg wax- Child birth-it is a must to get that baby out- Legwaxing is a choice, thats why it is hard to actually get there and do it!- Funny though I love the feeling of eyebrow and underarm waxing but cant do the legs......

We are off to Sydney tomorrw for a couple of days, just to get away. :fingerscrossed: the weather is fine and this m/s doesnt get too bad!!

Oh yeah, went to the Dr yesterday and will be going for a scan next Wednesday (18/7) to find out where I am at- Will keep you all posted on that!

Hi Ladies,

Haven’t been on for a while as per usual lol, but I do read everyones post everyday.

Shazza - :smiliedance: for Cooper rolling.

Cat13 – Yeah I’ve noticed the strong smell of pee. Not good for me at the moment I dry reach when changing him  .

Tabby – Spot on with the foods. Talon has most of that. Hope your enjoying your leg waxing.

Korah – Congratulations on Macy's first toothy peg.

Charis – Yes motherhood is wonderful. Enjoying every little moment.

TiredMummy - Hope little ally comes home today.

Liviesmum – Sorry to hear your morning sickness has started. Hope you enjoy your trip away to Sydney.

Take care

Tired mummy - glad DD will be coming home. i know she is very sick and tired but she might actually feel a bit better being back at home.

korah blue - yay on the toothy peg!!! I think that the first is the worst and then they are less fussy when cutting the others.

cordelia - I always offer boobie before solids - even if you wait and hour or so after a boob and offer solids. The reality is that boob or bottle is still their main source of nutrition until about 10 months. At this stage with solids they are really just taste testing. Might also be the cause of that constipation last week???? Maybe not enough breast milk??? (not being critical hun, just a thought.)

Yes, the poos are very different when on solids. kelsey seems to struggle a bit with having to push them out into a nappy rather than the breast milk explosions from before. i often find if I just take her nappy off and let her play in the nude on top of a cloth nappy - it is easier for her. Not a nice thing to write about really, but might help if any of you are having the same issues.

Dh and I had a lovely dinner out. we talked non-stop about the kids and our upcoming holiday. We both laughed and laughed and drank a bit too much and ate WAY too much. But we had such a great time - sort of felt like the old days before we had kids. Not that i would swap my two billy lids for my old life - but it was really nice to reconnect with my DH and have some time alone. We actually figured out it has been our first night out alone in about 2 years. well, I suppose that is what happens when you don't have any family nearby to babysit.

however, when I got home kelsey had been awake and very upset. Mum even tried to give her some cooled boiled water on a spoon to tide her over but she just wanted her mummy and a boob. Ah, at least I felt needed.

enough of my rambling....Kelsey just woke up and wants a feed.

Take care

tabby - hope you have silky smooth legs and it wasn't too painful!!

Ellembee...no criticism taken
Tired Mummy...:hugs:
Cat...LOL at the home brew. Your DH sounds just like mine.
Aries...great to hear you made it home safely and without X dramas
Tabby...thanks for the yogurt tips. Now that we are back on the lactose free I was wondering about it. For DD1 I bought the little Brownes yogurts, use half a feed and stored the rest for the next day in a Tupperware container. :smiliedance: for the haircut, glad it was such a positive experience. Hope the wax went as well.
Boss...hope you've got some answers today
Charis...love the new avatar, he's such a cutie

A few cr@ppy nights here. Don't know what TJ's problem is, but she's gone back to feeding at 12.30ish then again at 4ish. Have tried resettling her, but she just continues to shuffle in her bed before eventually crying. Oh for some sleep.

My big concert for the year will be with DD1 to see The Fairies in a few weeks time, oh how things change!

With DD1's 4th birthday approaching fast, I've made a few cake tin purchases off ebay latey. The Perth mum's are welcome to borrow when our big first birthdays approach. I've now got a dinosaur, teddy bear, bears head (can make a pig, cow, giraffe etc), lady bug (beetle, spider, bee) and a butterfly.

Have a great day and long sleeps tonight,

Hi all.

Mouse: Hope TJ starts to settle longer for you soon.:fingerscrossed: it happens soon though.
Yes, was thinking re: yogurt again today shopping, shes just now able finish those little ones so another 2 weeks or so I think we should be able buy bigger like you do and store without wastage. Plus should be pass the need for "gentler on tummy products" by then.

Flicka: ah how lovely for you and DH for some alone time. It does feel like pre-kids yep, exactly how I felt Sunday, like old times, lots of holding hands/cuddles. We still do but always usually the interruptions lol.

Strawberry: How you been? pregnancy being good to you I hope!

liviesmum: Hope your ms doesnt last too long!
:hugs:

Leg wax: I wont deny it did hurt lol. but only the make your eyes water kind of hurt . Does feel great though!!! Will be doing it again yep. every 6 weeks and $19 bucks, well worth it imo.

Have only just got home after shopping as well. Katie as usual was a gem, very little sleep in that 6 hrs but still just sat in the pram and looked and smiled at everyone as usual lol. Shes such a charmer!

Hi all

Tiredmummy - so glad to hear Ally is on the mend.

Boss - how are things in your neck of the woods? Any further answers?:hugs:

Us - I tried G on yogurt this morning. She wasn't fussed at all. Very disappointed as thought it would be such a great out and about meal. I tried the baby Vaalia pear flavour. Anyway, I shouldn't be too upset - she absolutely adores her veges. So far she has had pumpkin, potato, carrot, zucchini, sweet potato and peas. For her fruits, I am still just sticking to pear, I tried her on apple - she likes it, but it was too acidic for her as everytime she had it she did a big acidic watery vomit about half an hour after the feed. I am nervous about trying banana due to constipation issues (to which she is very prone).

Hope everyone (including me) has good snoozes tonight.

Elle xx

Tabby & Flicka - Glad you are both having some lovely couple time.

Liviesmum - The dreaded ms (ads for me ALL DAY SICKNESS) is what's putting me off whenever I start to get clucky, still planning on TTC next Feb though.

Strawberry, your latest pics of Talon are adorable, have you started wondering if Bub#2 will look similar? It's all so interesting!

Tiredmummy & Liviesmum - Hope your respective DH's have lovely Birthday celebrations tomorrow! Hope Ally is home and both families can spend the day together.

Us - My angel baby turned into a Devil :devil6: over the weekend - suddenly 1st feed of the day meant LOUD playtime until almost the following feed. Wouldn't have minded half so much except he was waking at 4 & 5am to feed. You could hear him squealing and muttering to himself from every corner of the unit. I'm sure his loud voice was keeping him awake. He made up for it last night feeding at 7pm then not again till 6am this morning. He must have been starving last night 180mls of EBM in 3minutes then screamed for BF before passing out!

Tabby
10-07-2007, 17:37
Elembee: Katie was the same with banana, prone to constipation and it did when tried last month. just tried again yesterday and this morning in her weetbix and alls good, So maybe wait a few weeks and try again.

Sammy: Hope that little devil stays away hehe cheeky monkeys arnt they.
Katie was SO tired after today, put her cot for nap and she had like a burst of energy, yelling/kicking etc, going nuts lol, finally went to sleep after 10 mins.

Solids: What peas so you use? I tried frozen and then tried puree but the skin off them is still there???? Cook more? or tin peas? Ok not a big pea eater YUCK! so dont know what to do lol

Flicka
10-07-2007, 19:05
Hmmmmm Tabby - not sure about the peas either. Not a big fan myself.

So far kelsey has had pumpkin, potato, sweet potato, pear, apple and banana. I gave her a jar tonight (lazy mummy). It was oatmeal with fig and sultanas and she LOVED it.

Question - are there many of us still on leave that are intending on going back to work??? I am going back in November (am on long service leave for a while).

Sammy - your mornings sound like mine - Kelsey is also awake at about 5.30am squealing and being so noisy that I am amazed everyone sleeps thru it. And then just when she decides to go back to bed - the rest of the family gets up. Hows the TT going?? My DS is really good with wees but it is still hit and miss (so to speak) with number 2's.

Tabby – Everything is going so well. Having my 12 week scan on Thursday can’t wait for that. The weeks are going so quickly, bub will be here before I know it.

SammyG – Yeah pretty happy with the photos. He’s a split image of his daddy. I’m always wondering if this bub is goin to look the same. Not that it would be a problem if he/she did.

hehe...so Cameron is not the only one with stinkier #1's and #2's!! And those #2's seem to be getting worse and worse. I just keep telling myself each one I change is one step closer to the last dirty nappy I'll ever have to face.

Hope the MS doesn't get too bad liviesmum, how were you last time around?

Glad you and your DH enjoyed your night out Flicka.

Sammy, hope your devil turns back into a  . I think C is equal parts of each (the angel from me and the devil from DH of course!)

Hope the nights improve Mousebrown, but when you are up at all hours rest assured you are not alone!

Took C to a 'Kids in Harmony' music & lifeskills program yesterday and we both had fun.C especially loved peek-a-boo song with rainbow coloured silk scarves. It was a class for bubs birth to crawling and C was the oldest so also the most concerned when we did one activity where bubs are on the ground and mums walk around (& away!) in a circle.

PS - I had to laugh, DH was looking over my shoulder while I was posting and asked whether 'DH' stood for d#$khead. Hmmmmm??

PPS - just saw your post re maternity leave Flicka. I technically resigned rather than maternity leave due to the interstate move but they have offered to let me work from home. Meant to start pretty much now however I honestly have no real desire to do & don't know how I'll actually get any work done with C at home all day with me while I'm trying to work. I could put him in daycare a couple of days but then I may as well just get a job up here where I can actually get out of the house and interact with other grownups in real life!

Flicka - I am going back to work full time on monday and it feels terrible.....i thought i would be coping ok, but the thought of it is making me feel sick....even though my DH will be home full time w/ Geoffrey, its not making it any easier at the moment.

strawberry - glad the pregnancy is going well - i agree the time will go so fast for you!!

lisa - sorry to hear about TJ's sleeps, i really sympathise as Geoffrey is still waking often in the nights, sometimes 4-5 times and may have 2 feeds in there

Flicka- TT still going really well. I haven't had to change a #2 nappy for over a week now and have only had 2 little accidents with #1's since the first couple of days last week when he seemed 100% clueless! I try to keep him in undies but have caved and bought pull-ups for car trips longer than 15minutes & short outings. I found putting the same nappy on repeatedly too hard and was wrecking them anyway so that's how I'm justifying cost of pull-ups. Nappy for nighttime sleep only!

I resigned from a management role when I had B as I had no intention of going back FT. I went back as a casual when B was 10wks(he was FF) but have no desire to go back this time round.

M had his 1st bottle of Formula tonight. Last BF at 5:30pm but was screaming for a feed at 7pm and I knew I didn't have much left so we gave it a go - 160mls and he's still asleep now so hopefully I won't have to get up to him tonight. Looks like B has picked up a bug so I think I will up to him during the night instead.

Funny thing - DH noticed difference in smell between BF & FF (he gave the bottle while I dealt with vomit in my hair -YUK)

Hi everyone,

Ally is home. :smiliedance: Thank goodness i was starting to get exhausted lol. She had a flu shot @ the hospital too so that was good, hopefully she shouldnt get sick for a while. We are all going to have them just to be on the safe side.

Sammy - Thats great about the TT. I'm still having a few problems with Ally but its just the #2's. She hasnt needed a nappy while in bed either so thats been good.
Liviesmum - Thats funny about our DH's having the same b'day & our little bubbas having the same b'day too. Didnt get the time to go out & get him anything, so it will just have to be a late present. He understands though.
Strawberry_Shortcake - Good luck with the scan... so exciting!!

I wasnt very happy tonight... we have a 24hr kmart near us & i was looking thru the toy sale catalogue & thought i would go as it would be the best time to go while all the girls are in bed & DH is happy in front of the playstation... anyway went specifically for a walker for Sierra. They had heaps last week when i went. Got there & they had none :crying: I've been wanted to get her a walker for ages & now i have to wait until i get another chance which probably wont be until friday or the weekend. And all the toys that i thought would be good for the girls for their b'days, they had sold out of too. Not happy again lol. So all i came home with was the new Hi 5 cd & a Dumbo dvd  DD1 has dumbo already but its so scratched that it doesnt work anymore so i got a new one while on sale. Very disappointing retail therapy effort lol. Oh well she'll be happy.

Happy Tuesday night all!
 to all and to Karrina and Freddie + Hels!! Hope you're all still around, just no time to post. Happy half birthday to Hamish :)

TiredMummy YAH for Ally being home and all of you well! Pity about the shopping. I hope you got some choccy tho :)

Some funny and disconnected things..but all make sense on here: Sieve or whizz the peas??Tabby. There's a great Nigella dip with peas+roast garlic, that I think seems to whizz up smooth.. And speaking of great food Flicka that fig and sultana jar sounds so yum!! Making me hungry and I've had dinner. And speaking of food..and CAKE which is the bestest of food, MouseBrown that is some collection of cake tins!! Am going to have a v small party for H on Thursday and think I'll make a cake, cut it in half and layer it as a 1/2 birthday cake. Cat13 LOTS of laughs about your DH thinking it meant DH!! I am glad he asked you rather than assuming!! Hope his ankle is healed.I love the 'ONE NAPPY CLOSER' idea..Excellent that Michael had a long sleep SammyG. Another tonight. Great that the FF went down well. Good luck with next Monday Jacstar..I imagine it will get easier with each day.

Those of you who write nice things about these streams of consciousness..or think I see the positives..well its not always like that..must say was v v glad to see the end of my house guest today!! Remembered all that any of you with ILs staying had ever written and it was only 3nights here!! I think I have v little tolerance, even less than I did. The ultimate was when he just lay on the couch when I was cooking/bathing/feeding/serving dinner last night. Gosh. and he has a child too! His way of talking is to ask a million questions (and not listen!) and I was getting v fraught and told him so (nicely).I think we have a different time scale these days.

Oh and those of you who remember that I took Hunter swimming in the ocean..well I must have some fascination for bodies of water, as he enjoyed chewing some seaweed at the beach yesterday and watching waves (it was a beautiful day!)..and thought I'd see if he liked different textures on his feet this morning at the river, so after a instance of 'sock-loss' we had some exploration of slimey rock, wet sand, limestone..then dipped feet in. OOPS V V COLD. oh well. Sweet baby!

Food tally: avocado X
sweet potato, carrot, pear, apple, beetroot GOOD Will buy some yoghurt.
CONGRATULATIONS MACY on TOOTH!!!

Is this weird timing or what? First FF last night (expressed a few hours later) then AF returned for first time this morning! Could this be why my supply has seemed a bit down the last couple of days? Michael has been super hungry the last couple of days - poor fella!

Charis, the textures on H's feet sound fun!

TiredMummy: YAY for Ally being home!!!
Just saw your post on what is your baby up to?
Interesting to see how Sierra hates tummy time and your other didnt roll till crawled. Had wondered what Katie was doing, she rolled at 4 1/2 months both ways for a few days then nothing same thing rolls from back to side but soon as near turn she stops lol AND hates tummy time, always has, yet shes sitting no support now for 2 weeks...feel better knowing same and alls good.

Charis: Sounds like you two had great fun on the rocks etc! How do you get the "can be bothered" this cold lol. Then again I have always turned into a hibernating bear come winter, ill make up for it come spring hehe.

Strawberry, wow 12 weeks already! Love the photos, very nice indeed.
When at the markets we checked out the pic place, a fairy's type one, said I would never do things like that by ahhhh I know she will look just beautiful in angel wings etc. So tax return will do.

cat: LOL @ DH and his interpretation of DH. hahha quite true for some I imagine. That made me laugh. thanks!

jacstar: BIG :hugs: for Mondays return to work hun.

Well Katie has developed quite a paddy. Started last week, now in no uncertain terms when she growls and goes all red it" IM NOT HAPPY NOW THANKS, so change environment/ play. very very funny, hmmm wonder if she knows that wont get her far in this house except a laugh from all. lol terrible arnt I..or maybe mums stubbornness uhoh..
oh and the pursing of lips, progressed to a "w" sound a bit like wah wah wah and also a few bububub last night.

Needles later today :(

Hi ladies

Tired mummy - Yay for Ally being home :smiliedance: .

Jacstar - hugs for your return to work. Just thought I would share this with you:
I went back to work when DS was 10 months old and DH stayed home to look after him for 2 months. I was still able to b/feed when home and although I missed him so much my heart hurt it was a really good bonding time for him and DH. PLUS I actually found that although work was tiring - it wasn't half as tiring as looking after DS full time so I kinda felt like I was having a break from DS. And as soon as I got home - all of my time with him was totally 'quality time' where I enjoyed every minute and made the most of it. You know how sometimes when you are at home full time you are hanging out for them to go for a nap so you can have 5 minutes to yourself - well those feelings went away for me when I went back to work.

I know this is long but Jacstar - I just wanted to say that Monday will be really hard for you and (like me) you will probably cry ALL the way to work but it will get easier. :hugs:

Sammy - Bummer about AF - hugs to you and hope you are feeling ok. I agree - probably was the cause of your decreased supply. Yay for the TT - I also use pull ups some of the time but have been known to stop on the grass verge for DS to do a wee (exhibitionist that he is). Number 2's are going ok - does them on the loo most times but also seems to 'save one up' for bedtime when the nappy goes on but I just think it is a ploy to delay bedtime.

Well, after praising the oatmeal and fig in a jar - Kelsey spewed it all up at about 10pm last night followed by lots of crying (Sammy - I too had it in my hair). I think it gave her a tummy ache so perhaps it was a bit much for her yet. Serves me right for being lazy and not cooking up her potato and pumpkin!!

sorry about the long post.

Take care xx

Just back from needles. Wasnt as hard as last time....She cried obviously but was all smiles again by the time we got to the front desk. smiling and holding the receptionists hand lol.
She did get more upset than usual just a while ago while waiting for the bottle though :(
Fingers crossed that what I thought was needles side affects at 4 months was just a flu so we will be ok this time round..

Flicka: haha reminded me, Katie did one of those yuck ups a few nights ago, Mum gave her the whole tin so come a hr later when home she did it just as Daddy went to kiss her, he copped it in his goatie...Im so awful, I almost peed my self laughing lol

Tiredmummy - It must be great to have your daughter at home again. I hope she stays well!!

Jacstar - I know how you feel going back to work. I have just gone back for 3 days for the past couple of weeks and then i am back 5 days from the 23rd. I find the best way to cope is to keep a diary with all the families appointments, try and plan meals for the week - at least have an idea of what you are going to cook and to get as much stuff ready as possible the night before. I make a whole heap or rolls/sandwiches on sundays and freeze them for DS and DH to take to work/school. The crock pot is also my best friend. I can throw some meat and vegies in there in the morning, cover it with a tin of soup or some sauce and dinner is ready when i get home. Nice and easy

Not much to report here. Macy is wriggling all over the place and loves saying 'budder budder budder' whatever that means in baby language. Mum is coming down on the weekend for my birthday on monday so hubby and i have planned a big night out saturday while mum babysits. I cant wait!! Will be interesting to see how long I last hahaha

Charis
11-07-2007, 21:19
Yes lovely thoughts about cherishing the quality time Flicka!

So cute about the budder budder budder also the 'wah wah wah'. Hunter still shrieks and says MUMUMUMUM when he's unhappy.

Keep meaning to write a bit of a confession esp to Cordelia.. that 'Contented little Baby Book' that we should have thrown out ie: 'baby must be up, nappy changed and ready to feed no later than 6.30am' !!! Yes, well I read the bit for 6month olds and the feeds and sleeps kind of work... So H now sleeps 7.30-7.30 (2feeds) and eats solids after BM at 11 + 5.30 plus morning tea+afternoon tea BM and for anyone who's still reading :) sleeps 9-9.45, 12.30-1.30 and 4ish -

So I know I'm jinxing it all by thinking there is a routine!

Did go to gymbaroo open day..wasn't super keen on the space, but the set up was good and booked into another location. There is such an industry of educational programs/toys for babies all about stimulation I know..but I just love their egg like plastic rattles, so cool!!And Tabby we're swimming Saturdays..11.45 session. Will see how it goes and perhaps perhaps his Dad might take him occasionally. Is that when Katie sleeps? Anyhow its the only session at VicPark still with places ! Will see how it goes. I don't want to be a hockey Mum (you know activities every day..) but if I'm home with him feel like we may as well get into it. Ecck bathers!!

Sorry to hear about the hair involved in chuck ups!! Also YAH that 6month needles went as well as could be expected for Katie!!

Hunters 1/2 bday tomorrow. Having a 'half' party with some friends tomorrow night! oops better work now!

Tabby
11-07-2007, 21:32
Thanks Charis. Katie is doing well so far, sound asleep as per usual but very very mummy's girl all arvo, grizzled every time I left the room even when with Dad, so lots of cuddles this arvo .

HAPPY 6 months for Hunter tomorrow!!! Hope your evening goes well and lots of fun to be had am sure.

Oh will finally attempt to use the beautiful ribbon you sent me this week, I think we can get one in there now.

Hi everyone,

Charis! :shame: funny! I have to admit that although I'm not terribly strict I do follow the basic concept of the book and her sleep at night has improved.. 8:30-6am most nights... which is lovely (for the last week anyway!) What do you mean 2 feeds? Do you mean 2 feeds overnight or all up during the day????

I'm sure you'll enjoy gymbaroo.. beyond their marketing and mumbo jumbo its lots of fun!! We start swimming lessons soon too.. we're going to Riverton but I know some Mum's booked into Belmont.. they're both nice pools

Having a hell of a time with breastfeeding atm... she's finally given up the nipple shield (refuses to even try and feed with it) but can't work out how to feed with it so screaming and screaming and to top it off my poor nipples with her biting and scratching and pulling... dearyme.

jo - Caitlin is 5.5kgs and 61cms long and she's 6.5 months old.

SLEEEEEEEEP!

I have a confession too Charis & Cordelia. I didn't actually throw out all my books either and I have had another peek at them recently. Made more sense reading them now & picking & choosing what works for us and we seem to be naturally moving towards a reasonable routine most days now anyway. I think the 3 meals a day might be helping a bit with that too, gives a bit of extra structure to the day?

Cordelia, sorry you aren't having much fun BF at the moment, I'm sure she'll work it out soon (:fingerscrossed: )

And don't know what the cause of our week of bad nights were but (touch wood) seems to be over. C even put himself to sleep at about 9pm last night after an unsuccesful feed to sleep at 7 due to an impending poo. Got him all cleaned up but he was full & I was empty so refeeding to sleep not working & rocking wasn't working so just put him down to work things out on his own for a bit. Took about 30 mins but he didn't fuss and slept all the way through until 6.15. :yelclap:

Had a good chat with work yesterday & :fingerscrossed: we have sorted out a plan that suits me and them. Basically I will be in contact with the office & clients by email (so no worries about crying baby in the background). Going to just give me one job at a time to do at my own pace so on a good day I might get heaps done but doesn't matter if I have a bad day & can't do any. All they ask is I check my email once a day just in case anything comes up. Going to pay me my old salary converted to an hourly rate & will basically get to do the part of my job I enjoy (actually DOING the work) without all the office politics & time consuming admin/ managing/mentoring/supervising/reviewing/crisis aversion that used to be part of my role.

Happy half bdays to Hunter & all the others coming up soon too. C's is on Monday.

:hugs: for Tabby & Katie & any others having needles soon. Can't believe it's that time again already. Not sure what C measures in at the moment but will find out at our needles next week.

hehehe...I don't think I know how to do a short post!

Hi all, how is everyone going? Good i hope. sorry havent had time to catch up on posts. Have been chating in the new forum lately that one of the members on here has created. Its not baby related but covers everything. great fun forum.

Havent been up to much here. Ashton is so big, He rolls around the lounge. Lets me know when he wants food now in the evening aswell. Amazing as its usually around dinner time.

School holidays here and its driving me crazy. My oldest and second child are so hyper sometimes:banghead:. They just have so much energy.

Me i have a cold and sore throat not nice.
Have my fil coming in a wk so that will be great as he is really nice and so helpful.

I just noticed the new rain smilie :rain: why have we two now :gloomy:

Charis - was interesting to read Hunter's routine. So is it right that he doesn't sleep more than an hour at a time for his day sleeps? G doesn't either and the clinic nurse told me I should work on resettling her. It just doesn't work for me - and she seems happy enough, though is exhausted by 6.00pm when she has her last BF and is in bed.

Us - Poor little G is unwell. She has a rattly chesty cough. She wasn't interested in her veges today, but was happy to have her pears and of course her milk. I gave her some panadol, put a dot of vicks on her singlet, sucked out the boogies with the fess drops and put her to bed early. We are going to the doctors tomorrow as I don't want her to get worse over the weekend and then being stuck not be able to get to a GP.

Hi girls
Just popping in here with an update. I've been really busy lately setting up my work from home business which I'm also trying to expand. I really want to make a go of it as we could use the extra money lol.
I find it hard to keep up with 2 threads all the time too, so I'm usually posting in the Feb thread as I see a few of the Melb girls on a regular basis.

Reece is doing really well. He still sleeps well at night and we officially started on solids this week :yelclap: . Just some rice cereal for now but I'll start some pureed fruit after a few days.

It's hard to believe the bubs are all around 6 months now, it's time for more needles too.

That's about all from me, pretty boring really! I'm enjoying being a mum and it's great seeing R grow and develop, he's so much fun now.

Hope everyone is well :)

Hi all, This month's thread is moving so quickly...I can't even remember what's going on with who!!!!

I'll just remember to give lots of good wishes to those babies who are not well.....touch wood we have been so lucky to not even have a cold yet!

Audrey is doing well; her 1/2 birthday passed on Sunday and we had a lovely day with the bubhub mums at the Baby Expo! We've just had our 6 mth needles today and so far she seems to fine. 7.75kg, 66cm long and 43cm head......so all growing well!

We've finally had some success with solids! After a few weeks of persisting through clamped lips, she has finally started opening the mouth and gulping it down like a little bird! Rice cereal is not popular, nor is the mixed cereal but she loves porridge! Pears are good, apples are yuck, sweet potato is nice but pumpkin is disgusting!!! Oh yeah and banana is just about the best thing on the planet! She really loves using her hands so bits of fruit in the tommy tippee thing and chunks of crusty bread and rusks are all popular. But her milk feeds are diminishing hugely; I still give milk first then solids but then she sleeps longer or only 50ml at next feed. Oh well, as long as she is happy, sleeping and growing I guess it's ok.

Our big news is that we ditched the dummy! Last Friday I decided it was time to go because she was waking early morning for it to be put back in...so I threw them all in the stinking garbage bin so I wouldn't be tempted. She's been great - occasionally a little more whingy when going to sleep but not longer than 5mins and not crying. So that's one less thing I have to forget when going out!

I hope everyone else is going well! Very excited that we get our broadband connection next week so I might actually make it on to live chat!!!

Hey girls

Just popped into catch up.

:hugs: for those bubbies having needles. Although Kelsey was 'offcially' 6 months on Tuesday (10th) she had her 4 month needles late so we are waiting a couple of weeks for this lot.

Feeding going well here. Kelsey tried peas tonight and I agree with Tabby - very hard to puree them until smooth. Still had lots of bits in it but she seemed to enjoy it. Haven't found a food she will refuse as yet.

Cat - Good luck with working from home - what a great set up!!!

I'm off to do some knitting.

Take care xxx

Flicka: Same here, no foods rejected yet, much different to ds1 @ ds2!! A pleasure to see.

Cate: WOW great on ditching the dummy already.
I have been contemplating about that too.
Katie only has it to sleep, doesnt even wake for it, so should be easy??? lol I hope. Might try though and see how goes once shes over the needles more.

Hi Hels!!! Good to hear from you, glad the home business is going so well and Reece sounds like hes doing well too.

Cordelia: Hope you sort out the feeding problem soon. owwww!

Ellembee: Poor baby, hope shes feeling better real soon!!! xxx

Sugar: argh what a time to get a cold huh? Hope the school hols dont give you too much grief and they settle down. Hope your feeling better soon xx

Lukeandmattsmum: Happy half birthday for Matthew!!! happybirthday

jojelu: good to hear from you again.
Havnt had Katie weighed/measured for some weeks, will get there next week and update.
Grats on the Dadada, so cute isnt it?!

Us: Katie has been rather clingy, hard to settle day sleeps, but went down as usual tonight so hopefully thats about it for jabs after affects.
She has big red hard lumps from the needles, can see the needle site but then the lumps about half inch away

Shes making lots of new sounds, for ages she has been watching closely when we yawn, like she was studying it. Now she yawns the same with the arghhhh sounds lol. Also pursing lips ( as said other day she was trying to do something ) shes now worked out can blow and spit and make weird noise lol

 Girls,

No I didn't drop off the face of the planet! I had a lovely time for the past 10 days as my great friend came up from Melbourne. We were so busy!

I can't believe that Billy is now 10.25kg, now my bad 'baby wrist' that is in a brace most of the day is my 'good wrist' as the other (without the brace) has the same issue:no: I am finding it so hard to pick him up as the pain just shoots through me. I do need to organise another appointment with physio...

I haven't had a chance to catch up with posts..

Billy started at childcare this week (just the Tues morning) and all went well but tomorrow both DD and Billy are going in for the full day. As Billy refuses the bottle I will have to go to the centre to feed him....hmmmmmmmmmmm wonder how that will go with juggling work.

X DH is being quite good at the mo and was even ok about me lodging a child maintence claim. He had dinner with us tonight, I think he has found a whole new life without us and maybe he actually likes it (partying and the like) but I am happy for him as long as he isn't giving me any grief by wallowing in self pity

Anyhow sound like most bubs are on solids, too good!

I know exactly what you are talking about!! Macy has been doing the exact same thing and it cracks us up to watch her. She is so serious about it

:babydust2: I just wanted to say you girls in this thread are great. There has been some complete *****iness in the adelaide thread from the older members to us newer members but i have never come across that in here:babydust2:

We were meant to be having some other mums and bubs at our place for lunch today but they are all sick or without transport so looks like that has been postponed. Might turn out to be a good thing as I have to take Macy for her needles this morning

Hope everyone has a great day

Hi Karrina!!!
Happy to hear from you, have been wondering where you got to and if things ok.
Sorry to hear your wrists so sore! Hope they are better soon.
Aries had the same problem with Xavier not talking the bottle and one day he just decided it was ok, so hope the same happens for you.
Nice that ex DH is now being more amicable too, better for everyone all round thats for sure.

Its been bothering me for ages about Mil how she doesnt spend enough time with Katie, she says she would love to sit with her while we go out etc, but only sees her once every 2-3 weeks for about 3 hrs! Yer right, she has no clue of what Katie likes or dislikes so I wont take her offer. She doesnt even ring me and talk. Only ever rings DP on his mob and never asks how I am..nothing! I have my nose out of joint thats for sure...My family has always treated DP like hes part of the family but with them I only feel am mother to the grandchild. I dont feel part of the family at all. example,Am always the last to hear anything and only via DP
Have tried get her to come more often with invites etc but like today, she cant because shes meeting up with a friend.....ah well, her loss. Sad though..would love the company too. I get pretty lonely at times. Being a older mum all my friends/brother etc are with grown kids and doing there own thing yaknow.
Sorry bout the pity post, just had to get it out!
Anyhow am making sure I have closeness with his brother and preg gf, dinner here tonight..mm roast & lots of baby talk, lol am sure the fellas will enjoy that.

Hope there was nice sleeps all round
Freddie: Not heard form you for a bit, hope alls well hun.

Hi! Just wanted to come on quick to say hello, have read up a little bit on last few pages and sounds like everyone's doing well, sorry not much time for personals.
we are up visiting my dad and Xavier has been having a blast swimming in the pool with his "opa". Record high temps here, almost like Oz, 38C!! Wow! I see we have some new smilies....:babydust2: lol i like that one. Well sorry to be so brief, gotta go help with dinner, will post some new pics of X swimming in this hot Canadian summer soon. Take care all

oh oh just quickly for KARRINA, honestly I think if Billy is hungry enough he will take the bottle, that's how X did it. Sounds mean, but he won't let himself starve if it's the only option. Good luck!

Hi everyone

Hope all are having a good day so far!

Tabby: Glad you enjoyed your "me" day the other day!
Charis:  for the awesome w/end and quality time with H! Cooper hated avocado too - took about 4 mouthfuls & then just wouldn't open up his mouth, so out came the pumpkin!
Cat13: good to hear about the sleeping and that "all is well with the world"!
Flicka: Your DS sounds very much like an old soul! I always wonder if Cooper is as he is such a serious little boy - maybe thats what comes from being a capricorn!
Tired*m: yeah for Ally being home - so glad to hear it! Hope the whole family is getting back to normal now!
Korah: yeah for Macy 1st toothy pegs!
Liviesmum: hope the m/s hasn't gotten any worse. Hope you have/had fun in Sydney!
mouse: hmmm the up at 12.30 & 4ish sound familiar! I think Cooper must be going through a growth spurt cause he's been taking full feeds before he settles.
flicka: I got let off when I was bout 14weeks and I don't have any inclination to go back to any job! Hopefully DH will get a job at the mines so I definatley won't have to then!
Strawberry: I can't believe you are 12 weeks already - this preg is going to go so fast for you!
Ellembee - hope G gets better soon!
Hels: great to hear from you - was wondering where you had gotten to! Glad to hear everything is going ok with you and R!
Cate: I've found that Cooper doesn't drink as much now either - I was wondering if this was normal?!
Good to hear about the dummy too - I've been thinking about getting rid of Coopers but don't know if I can stand the crying & sreaming!

Happy 1/2 b'days to Hunter & Matt!

Us: going pretty good! His routine has changed a little bit since yesterday. Goes down for a sleep at about 8/3.30 instead of 9 and then goes down for his normal 1.00 sleep and then an earlier arvo sleep at about 4.00 instead of 5.00. Coopers getting frustrated cause he can't crawl! He's got his legs going but he just doesn't have the upper body strength to hold himself up! He's been doing a lot more push ups lately so he should get there soon! I've found he's getting more frustrated with everything lately - he can't really sit properly by himself yet either so when he reaches for stuff he falls over! Poor bubba - give him another few weeks and he should be right.
Going to organise his needles for next week - won't that be fun!
Went to a bubhub meet yesterday at the park which was great cause got to meet a few more ppl - although I turned up late so some had already left b4 I got there. We are going to do it on a fortnightly basis which is great.
Am going to our friends place on Sunday which I'm really looking forward to cause I haven't seen them and their bub since he was a couple of weeks old - now he's a couple of months old!!!

Anyways this has been a really long post - thanks to those who are still reading !!!

Cheers, Shaz :)

Hi all

Us - We went to the doctors this morning. As soon as I told her that she refused her veges but was happy with fruit - she immediately said "oh - she has a sore throat" and sure enough - her little throat is all red. So - good little tip to know that if they refuse warm mushy food but love the cool watery food - its a sure sign of a sore throat. All you experienced mums probably knew that anyway! Everything else ok - lungs and ears are clear. Just have to monitor her temperature and temperament (sp?).

We had not a bad night considering she is unwell - she woke at about 3.30 and I couldn't resettle - so took her to bed with us at about 4.30 and she slept till 8.00 (well we all did and DH was late for work!)

Tabby and Korah - funny about the yawns. I have recently discovered that when I go into fits of laughter - she copies me. She has a very deep little chuckle - sounds funny on such a petite little girly girl (lol).

Anyway - little miss is awake I think - so I had better go.

Elle xx

Wow ellembee thats really interesting re: the sore throat and food. Im a 3rd time Mum but unless I had looked it probably would have stumped me as well lol. My thinking would have been off food entirely...so there ya go, learn something new each time heh. Hope shes feeling better soon. xx

Sugar; Lol yep, have even resorted to constant bibs shes spitting the raspberries everywhere lol

Heya Shazza, Yep very frustrating time for bubs, so much to do but just cant quite get there!!!!
Katie was in grandads arms this morning ( while showing her off to next door ) and she grabbed a handful of creeper flowers, lucky next door was on the ball and he quickly said lookout shes about to eat that! lol

Hi Aries!!!!!! Everything sounds just lovely, you seem so much more upbeat and happy. AM happy for you and X. Look forward to the pics in his sexy swim suit?? lol

Hey Tabby - how much formula does Katie have at a time? I am starting to wean G and the tin says she should be on 240ml - but she doesn't get close to drinking that.

Yes v interesting about the sore throat symptons. Makes sense when you think about it - most people prefer to eat ice cream etc when they have a sore throat.

Hello to you all on this chilly day here in Brisbane. I decided to go and join in the playgroup at the local church today with DD and i met such lovely women to chat with. I was surprised that they made me feel welcome to their group. DD was the youngest there but she still had fun when they played and sung songs. It was a great idea to go perhaps I might make some friends in our area. Who knows? It is difficult to make friends in our local area with other mothers of similar age group as myself being an older 1st time mum.

I hope you are all doing well and your tiny bundles of love and giggles are as well.

Just a quick post while I remember

We had Macy weighed and measured at her vaccinations this morning and she has finally hit the 7kg mark spot on :smiliedance: . She was 6months on the 2nd

Dont seem to have any needle problems yet :fingerscrossed:

Oh and for the person that just asked, Macy only drinks about 180-200ml each bottle. She sometimes drinks 210 in the morning but never 240 like it says on the tin. Macy is on the petite side though

Ellembee
13-07-2007, 14:44
thanks korah - G is only 6.5kgs and she drinks between 100 - 180mls. i suspected the 240mls would be for those bruiser boys!

Hi all
Well its been a busy few days catching up on housework & other stuff that i couldnt do when Ally was in hospital but i think i've finally caught up. Well mostly lol.
Finally bought Sierra a walker type thing last night, it doenst move so i think its just an activity centre or exersaucer... whatever they are called. But she seems to like it.
http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=5971900

She has been pretty good, still has a cough but its getting better everyday. Taking her for her next lot of needles next week & also all of us to get flu shots. She has been eating pretty well too. Still doesnt like a lot of the fruit, would rather vegies. Loves the vegetable rusks. With her milk she only has about 150-200mls, i know someone asked about it before. Havent had her weighed for a while but i know she has grown alot. Have her CHN appointment in 2 weeks so i'll find out then.

Shes always had less than recommended ( petite also ), at the moment shes on 200mil bottles, and even then doesn't always have that much, sometimes only 150. As long as shes having at least 4 a day with the solids am happy, sometimes has 5!
Hope that helps.

hi everyone, yes I've been MIA for a few days and boy is there a lot to catch up on. Am really glad to hear Ally is home from hospital TM and happy half birthdays to everyone.
I had my mum staying for 3 nights and can relate to all that has been said about visitors. love her to bits but she is manic and I had my hopes up she'd help out a lot more than she did...the kind of mum who goes out and buys wine and chips but doesn't cook the tea.
I shouldn't complain cos she's all heart. I have just been !@$ered from a week of bad sleep after Hamish's needles 10 days ago.
Oh dear, my dad has taken him out for a walk and they're back...i can hear him crying as they come up the driveway...sigh...!!

more later all,

Dragonfly - Good luck with your move to Germany, I hope you settle in quickly over there, at least it's their summer time. Let us know how you're doing, when you can :hugs:

Tired*Mummy - I think those exersaucer's are great. We bought a secondhand one from eBay and Reece loves it. Here's a photo (http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i60/Hels-b/Reece/Exersaucer1.jpg)

Reece will drink 200mls and before bed he has 250mls. Plus he has his rice cereal at lunchtime too. He has always been a bit of a guts lol. I haven't had him weighed lately but I'd say he's up around the 8kg mark.

Have a good weekend everyone :)

YAH Hels + Freddie back again and YAH Aries for swimming X and not being in the :snow: ..ok ok I know its summer, just looked fun to use. Tell us the details, what are the folks like with him, what's he up to..are you getting a break? Are you going to get married in Canada?? Silly question!
Thanks for all the Happy 1/2bday wishes and a happybirthday to Matthew
Was a lovely tea here, all cooked while H had a 2hr sleep after swimming with me and his Nana!! Lovely having friends over and chatting, poor Hunter couldn't go to sleep though, too exciting (noise/lights/laughter) and got v v smiley happy (overtired) and finally went to sleep when guests had gone. Oh well. Good for every now and then.

Hels YAH for Reece on solids!! or mushies really. I think we've been at it 2wks now and have feeding time at the zoo: 11am and 5.30.. Awesome Ellembee for that sore throat discovery. Poor G though! Hope she's well soon. H has a cough and snuffly nose, awful as he gets v sad (choking) when feeding.

Anyone else's bubs having greater extremes of emotion?? There was a month when he didn't cry at all or really even grissle (sp!) Now he is v extreme. So much so that I think try to make today a NO CRY day, like that silly 'NO CRASH' day, of course every day should be like it. But there he is in bed, frustrated at waking up too early and WAH WAH tears. I know how he felt! :)
Oh and Cat13..really only feed once o'night, but he's up at 6.30 for feed and he gets into bed with me and manage to do it as a dream feed for us both, like a snooze alarm. Dunno whether it will develop bad habits..but after reading a bit of the 'gentle settling techniques' on here figure they grow up so fast that more sleep and yummy closeness is important at any time..as soon they'll be borrowing the car keys!
YAH for Lucas and teeth!!
Cate awesome about the dummy!
Tired Mummy YAH! for all girls home+well hope th DH bday went well. What are vege rusks?
Shazza yep the closed mouth is a funny little thing isn't it, sweet Cooper (We can giggle without them seeing us!) My Mum (font of wisdom he he) says that its cos the root veges and fruit are all naturally sweet..avocado isn't. But try try try again I guess too.
Tabby so gorgeous about the yawns oh and the fast acting neighbour.
Dragonflyblu have a wonderful flight with Clea and all the very best for your new world!! Stay in touch!!
well here its: bum in air ..but not going anywhere fast..oh besides forwards on his back :) and backwards on his tummy. arh. Sweet dreams all.

Hi all!

We're back after 2 weeks away. We were in the bush and it was freezing! It got down to 8 degrees in Josh's room. He didn't seem to mind though and was always snug when I picked him up, but I got pretty cold when I got up for overnight and morning feeds.

He's moving so much more. He rolls and rolls and I have to keep a close eye on him. Yesterday I walked into the bedroom to get the phone to ring dh and I was gone for maybe 30 seconds. I came back in cause Josh was crying and he had got his head stuck between the fridge and the portacot. Oi!

Does anyone use playpens? Our lounge room at home is pretty safe and big and I'm not sure if I need one ... any ideas?

karrina ... that's one big boy you have there! No wonder you have a sore wrist! Josh was 8kg 3 weeks ago and doesn't get weighed for another couple of weeks, I suspect he's close to 9kg now.

tiredmummy ... glad ally is better and glad you found an exercauser - that looks like a good one.

I'm tossing up between and exercauser and a swing. We gave our loaned swing back and I miss it already. They are on special at target this week. I think I'll get it and if he grows out of it quickly then we'll just lend it to others sooner ... it really is quite big and not something I want to store around here.

happybirthday (1/2 birthday) to all the bubs who are now 6 months. Josh still has a few days to go.

:smiliedance: to all the bubs on solids and doing well. Our highchair has finally arrived at Baby Bunting so I'm going to pick it up later today and depending on how organised I am Josh will restart solids either today or tomorrow.

Better go ... piles of washing need my attention!

Hi everyone:wave:

Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday mornings! Bit chilly here in Brissie this morning and my robe is in the wash :banghead:

sugar: Glad to hear everything is going ok! Have to agree with your DH that it would be good for if you want to resell. I would think it would have to improve the resale value a little bit.
karrina: good to hear everything is going ok with exDH. He must be getting over the shock of you actually following through with your threats and now realising how much happier you both are! A thought with the bottle - do you have the fast flow teat on it? I only ask cause Coops would never take a bottle (only if I wasn't hear and he was hungry) but as soon as I put the fast flow on (last night) he took it!
Cate: I've been inspired by you and haven't given Cooper his dummy today! Started to put him down for his nap at 8.45 and he screamed for 20 min before settling down without it! So happy that he finally did cause he's still asleep now (although now I've said that.....).
Ellembee: thats interesting to know about the fruit and the sore throat - I had no idea! Hope she is feeling better soon!
Tired*M: she looks so happy in her exerciser! Hope everyone is going ok and things are getting back to normal now that A is home!
freddie: have to say I love your new avatar - makes me smile when I look at it.
dragon: good luck with the move! Hope C behaves herself on the plane for you :fingerscrossed:
Hels - R looks so happy in his exerciser too - hmmm pay week next week!
Charis: your mum could be right about the avo cause I always put some salt on mine for a little bit of extra flavour. I've put the leftover in the freezer so I'll give it another go next week. How cute about the bum in the air - make sure you get that on film! My friends girl does that and she did it without her nappy once - awesome photo!

Sounds: Cooper does the rasperries too - so cute! But whats not cute is the sreaming sound he makes. I never know if its cause he's having fun, just experimenting or cranky!

Well I didn't give Coops his solids at dinner last night and we had a better sleep so maybe he just isn't ready for it yet. So I'm going to go with just lunch again today and see how we go tonight! And I just made up a huge batch of sweet pot, pumpkin and carrot so that will last us ages! Haven't tried the carrot yet so hopefully he likes it!
Can I ask if anyone still wraps their bubs? I started when Coops was about 4 months to help with his sleep training but I think he's getting to old for it and is starting to fight it. Did you just slowly wean them off the wrap like one arm at a time?
Am going to try and find a white noise cd to help with his sleeps too cause whenever DH is home he always seems to wake him up but I'm hoping if the white noise is there it will cover DH a bit!

Anyways - another long post from me - sorry! Hope everyone has an awesome w/end!!

Cheers, Shaz

TiredMummy - Glad little Ally is home. Talon's getting his flu needle next week at my check up...

Dragonflyblu - Good luck with the move to Germany. How exciting.

Hels - Great pic of Reece in his exersaucer. He's such a cutie. Talon has a exersaucer and LOVES it.

Cate - Wow no dummy. Thats great. I tried to take Talon's away but he wouldnt have a bar of it lol. T only has his when he goes to bed so i guess thats not to bad.

Mim - Sorry had to laugh on poor little josh getting stuck. They roll around quick don't they? Talon is always getting stuck especially under the coffee table and when he puts his head up he usually hits the coffee table lol

Not much is happening here. Had my 12 week scan on Thursday and bub was very active. Kicking and waving its arms around and kept placing his arm on its tummy. Also had a really strong heartbeat. Just waiting for my NT results which i will get on Monday. Talon talks in his sleep. Does any other bubs do that?

Anyway better go. He's just woken up, better go and rescue him lol

Have a great weekend ladies

freddie: Sorry to hear of the unsettled nights. Kaite has been quite clingy since, though nights dont seem affected other than a few cry outs which isnt like her. Heres hoping they get over it soon.

DFB: Bye!!!!!! Hope the move goes smoothly for you all. and hope you get the net real soon so we can hear all about it.

Hels: love that pic, Reece looks like hes really enjoying it.

Charis: answer to you question, YES, Katie shows much more emotion now. Crys more now that she ever did, easily fixed though. Also growls at us to get it across that shes not happy, tis very very funny, arms go back and face goes all red and litterally growls

Mim: Welcome back, Sounds like yous had fun even though very chilly!
No playpen for us, I have a porta cot and will use that when shes moving if I need to leave the room Ill sit her in it to play with her toys
Added bonus of a bed if needed.
Also gates across the lounge to block out danger area kitchen etc once crawling anyhow.

Shazza: A good time to introduce solids is breaky or lunch, that way "hopefully" night sleeps arnt affected, any upset etc gone by then
Wrapping: Katie was a big one for wrapping, wouldnt sleep otherwise, we went from wrap to sleeping bag, worked a treat, once she was ready..

Strawberry: aww how cute the scan movements.
All the best for good results NT.

Us: Nothing much, Katie keeps making us laugh with this yawn thing, so much effort goes into copying it lol its adorable!

Am thinking clomid has worked first rnd again, mild af like cramps, very strong last night! Boobs sore and sharp pains in them, way too early be sore for af so :fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed: !!!!! Will probably test end next week if I can hold out that is haha

Hi all how are you going? Back from time away in Sydney and must say I am glad to live in the country!! I really had a hard time with public toilets (yes I'm a bit anal about clean amenities) and the arrogance of people towards mums with bubs and prams on public transport!! I literally had to barge my way on and off the trains to get anywhere, otherwise people just walk or stand in front of you!!
Bridget was ok while we were away but did not sleep much, she does not seem to like sleeping in her pram.
The m/s is still there but not too bad- it is manageable atm. Scan is on Wednesday, :fingerscrossed: all goes well.

Needles- I did not realise there were 6 month needles!! how silly of me, better book in this week!

Tabby- I am hearing you on the PADDY CHUCKING- Bridget is beginning to get a little fiesty! She throws herself back a can scream, pinch, pull hair and scratch when she is in a bad mood, or extremely tired.

Jacstar- :hugs: for the return to work. I went back part time at the begining of May. It was hard but I do enjoy my time at work, mixing with other people and doing something different to my normal home routine. I have been on school holidays for last 2 weeks and must admitt i dont really feel like going back on Monday.

Tiredmummy- Hope your DH had a good B'Day. We had a nice day with DH. How uncanny to have 2 of our family members with B'Days the same day- kind of weird! Glad Ally is home, it must be such a relief.

Cordelia- Ouch in re: to B/F. I did not realise that you wore the sheilds for this long- that must be a wierd sensation for you and Caitlyn.

Dragonfly Blue- Good luck in Germany. What a move!!

Sammy- Too bad about the return of A/F- remember safety precautions to prevent conception!! I learnt the hard way:laughing: !!

On the topic of B/F- I am thinking of weaning Bridget, but slowly- any recommendations how to do that? I was thinking of cutting out daytime feeds to begin with as I do work and that will mean I dont have to race home in my free periods to feed her??

Well I do go back to work on Monday so I might find it difficult keeping up again but will try and check in more regularly.

SammyG
14-07-2007, 16:10
Liviesmum - LOL Yes I will be careful!!!

With regards to weaning (I'm contemplating this also) I have read in BabyLove to replace mid-morning feed every 2nd day for a week, then everyday for week 2, replace mid-arvo feed every 2nd day for week 3, everyday by week 4. Then start replacing lunch feed every 2nd day in week 5 so by end of week 6 you are only BF morning and night. This sounds very long-winded but is meant to be the most comfortable way. I think you could probably speed things up and of course would all depend on your supply and how well formula works for you! AF really affected my supply for 2 days and we trialed formula for a couple of feeds and M was fine!

Tabby, can't wait to hear about a BFP!

Dragonfly - hope move goes smoothly!

Charis - H's 1/2 Birthday sounds like it was fun!

Karrina & Mim - Good to hear from you both after you have been MIA

Cate - I want to get rid of the dummy soon, thanks for letting us know how you went!

Hi everyone,

Even though I have read the posts from time to time I have been so busy I haven't really had time to post.

Yay we got rid of dummy. COLD TURKEY. Just took it away and didn't offer it again. Took about a week and when we offered it to Alexander (AT HIS CHRISTENING HE CRACKED UP) he wouldn't have a bar of it. soo glad as I strated to get sick of picking it up off the ground when he spat it out and also got annoyed with continually putting it back in his mouth. He started really relying on us to get back to sleep and for a few days didn't sleep much as he was expecting us to come in when he would wake up. It was hard as it coincided with us travelling to my parents in NSW so he had to sleep in our room in a porta cot so he was so frustrated when we didn't attend to him.

Hey as we are all talking about solids I have a question?

Just started Alexander (6 months old tomorrow) on solids (about two weeks ago) and he is now on two meals per day. B/fast and tea.

We started with tea as we wanted him to sleep through a bit more of the night as he had strated waking all through the night despite previoously "sleeping through".

My question is.. how much food do you actually give a 6 month old. I can't seem to find this out, no matter how much research I do. In the morning he has farex with EBM/ water and fruit (makes about 125ml- one tupperware snack cup). For tea he now has the same about of pureed pumpkin/ potato (sometimes with a bit of cearel mixed in if it seems too thin). He cries when i finish "shovelling" the food into his mouth, despite me breastfeeding him before offering solids. I often have to top him up with a b/f after solids.

Is this too much? he was on 90% for weight when born but now on 25% given he is growing tall.

What do you all think?

Sorry for the long post... :ecomcity: :ecomcity:

hi liviesmum & sammyg - in regards to weaning, i had to somewhat speed up the process as i knew i was going back to work on monday. up until about 4.5weeks ago, Geoffrey would not take the bottle at all!! i was pulling my hair out....when he finally starting taking the bottle, it was only for very small amounts, so i started feeding him during the days whatever he would take from the bottle and then top up with breastfeeds....it eventually ended up half/half feeds and then all day on bottle, kept morning and night for a while and then managed to cut them out as well.
just an idea re; half/half feeds, not sure if they would be recommended but it worked for me!

Tabby
14-07-2007, 20:20
wild at heart: Ive found with all mine when they've had enough they will turn away/clamp mouth etc, until then I just keep feeding. If Katie still seems hungry after I give her a milk arrowroot biscuit or a rusk to chew on.
Usual amount, probably the same as the Tupperware snack tub yep. She then has her bottle about a hr later.
Just a quick post, Catch up with every one else tomorrow morning xxx

Poor little Cameron must think I'm stingy with the food....he has 3 'meals' a day but each meal is only 2 large ice cube sized serves, probably 60ml in total. I feed him about 45mins after a BF & he usually eats it all but I think it's enough for him for now, if I give any more than that there are leftovers. But we have only been at this for 4 weeks or so and I'm just going to follow his lead in regard to upping the amount. I'm more interested in stimulating his taste buds than filling his tummy.

a quick one for a change.....have to go before DH gets grumpy that I have not come to bed yet!

Hey ladies - just caught up on all of your posts.

cat - I am giving Kelsey about the same amount of food and today I gave her some lunch too. I agree - at this stage it is all about tasting the different foods.

wow Tabby - you could be in for a shock. I wonder how long you can hold out b4 you test??

Also, agree about the strong emotions. Have notice Kelsey is also getting to that clingy age where I can't leave her alone to put on a load of washing.

Take care xx

Forgot to say :fingerscrossed: TABBY for the BFP!! How exciting.

Ficka- I also agree with the emotional clingyness. Bridget has become very clingy over the last two weeks that I have been on holidays. I go back to work tomorrow and mum is babysitting and she has even seen the change in Bridget over the last two weeks. I think it will be hard for Bridget to adjust to this time!!

Question- Role play for 6 year olds. DD1 was an only child for 6 years. She did not realise until I had Bridget this year that babies were fed by breast. She now likes to breast feed her babies when she is playing a game or when i am feeding Bridget. What do I do? Do I let her continue or try to stop it? I dont know what is the right thing to do?? Is there a right thing?? Is it appropriate or inappropriate?? Feeling a little confused:confused:

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the messages re: my nipples  Feeling better now. Got really sick on Thursday with a touch of mastitis I think because of her not feeding properly but seem to be better now after lots of sleep and expressing. Am thinking of introducing some formula to her solids.. like with cereal in the morning so I can be sure that she's getting enough milk (they're supposed to be getting 600ml a day?) and that way it's not interrupting our feeds which I'll still work on. Hrm, that's my plan anyway!

liviesmum: I think that's really cute about your 6 year old and completely natural! I've seen little girls doing it and it's lovely :)

re: weaning - I was thinking of trying harder to get Caitlin to drink water/juice from a beaker so when we weaned (not for a while :fingerscrossed: )she would take formula from a beaker.. Maybe that would be easier than a bottle?

Strawberry: oh my gosh, there's a little tinge of "mm i wish that was me" reading about your scan.. I hope it's all going wonderfully!!

Speaking of which tabby - fingers crossed for you!

I've gone off the stupid darn mini pill.. keep forgetting to take it! It's quite funny after years of being on the pill.. we'll just leave it up to breastfeeding as contraception and DH getting his act together whenever he has a conscience.. and if all else fails - oh well, meant to be!

Such a lovely day here in Perth today - started some weeding (long overdue).. I've done about a quarter of the garden.. actually tha'ts exaggerating.. probably an 1/8... Caitlin loved laying out there on the lawn so I'll try get going on it this week... goign to Dwellingup for a couple of nights though!! So if I disappear tha'ts where I'll be .. yay!!

Liviesmum - A friend's little girl was 2 and a half when I first had M and she used to BF her doll whenever I fed - Hilarious once I was gone Baby was hungry again and when she was told it was bedtime she explained she would be a bit longer as she still had to do the other side! B for some weird reason used to tell me he had milk in his bellybutton but the other day he was BF his baby doll properly. I think it's all pretty harmless!!! It's definitely hilarious!!!

Us - M moved into his cot today and I have transformed the pram from bassinet style to normal front-facing 3 wheeler with toddler seat - B can't wait to go for a ride tomorrow - let's hope he stays that way for a while as he can be very quick when he wants to be!

Flicka: yes, speaking of clingy again, just got home from ds1 driving lessons, Katie was being cranky, i walked in then walked away and she let us know all about it, fine and all laughs soon as I came back.

Cordelia: We have introduced the sippy cup some weeks ago, shes quite pro at it now and has helped her drink more water/juice. My way of thinking and why I do it( and so far worked with ds1 @ 2 ) was that makes them less dependent bottle, so when its come time to ditch the bottle, there is still the sippy cup etc. Not for ages though obviously but seems to help with the transition. So now its bottle feeds, but always the sippy cup for water /juice and later down the track milk also from it. Does that make sense???

liviesMum: I agree with Cordelia, quite natural and cute! if was me I would let it be. knowing most 6 yr olds am sure it wont last long before something else takes her fancy anyhow

Thanks for all the well wishes BPF, will most likely test end week, if I can hold out that long lol. Of course if is will let you all know asap after DP :)

uhoh got to run, miss cranky pants!
try get back later for more personals!!! xxx

ok back, bed time for Katie so no interruptions this time.

liviesMum: I forgot to add, re: the paddy's. Katie has started what you described as well! Added more today, the hair pulling and she almost attacked my face tonight, growled and did the angry face and went to pinch my face and grab at me, all the while growling lol.
its so funny though!

Cat: Sounds about right amount feeds, Katie has been solids since 4 and a bit months so bound to be up there with a bigger amount. That said I do make up that amount but not often she scoffs the lot. prob 3/4.

Sammy: Hope the move to cot goes well.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.
yes beautiful weather here, cant wait to also get in the garden Cordelia, am just waiting on dad to pop up a fence for the dogs, rather pointless at the moment trying do much when the dogs go and have fun after I do lol.
Hes coming Tuesday to do it, so hope we see more of this weather soon. I HATE winter!!

thanks everyone for the happy 1/2 birthday wishes for Matthew.

Well luke has had another bout of tonsillitis and i think Matt might have it too. Poor little bugger has been unwell most of the weekend. Have a doctors appointment in the morning, was supposed to be for his needles but i don't think he will be getting them now.

Matt has started solids but since being unwell on the weekend i sort of slackened off as just feeding him milk was an effort in itself.

Sorry for now personals, but i am beat and in desperate need of some sleep. Hope to catch up again soon.

Take care everyone

Hee hee - I laughed so much Cordelia when you said about leaving the contraception up to your DH's conscience!!! It is the same at my house!!!

Liviesmum - I think the role-playing is totally normal. Sometimes my 2.5yr old DS b/feeds his rag doll "Wayne" in the car - lifts his shirt up and burps him at the end. Hmmm - also keeps asking me to squirt milk across the room so he can laugh (????). I think he will be a boob man!!

Tabby - yes, kelsey gets a bit violent with he flappy arms and sharp fingernails too. I think they lose control a bit when they are tired/angry.

Sammy - good luck with the cot move! Also have fun with the toddler seat - my DS loves sitting in his although he complains that Kelsey kicks him in the back because she can reach his seat with her feet!

Cordelia - I never used a bottle and just went straight from boob to sippy cup with DS. I used a "Playtex" brand cup (they are great). They are easy for bub to use but don't spill. I tried so many brands when DS was a baby but IMO they were the best. i think you can get them from Coles. But I guess you have to buy them knowing that once bub has teeth they will chew through several cups a year (or more). Anyway, so in answer to your question about weaning - I think it would be fine to go straight from boob to cup.

Anyway, I have been on the computer for ages and need some sleep.

Yah a lovely Sunday night to all.
Happy half birthday to WildatHearts Alexander.. hmm and who is tomorrow?? Someone I thought I would remember..Kelsey?
Speaking of whom..Flicka yr DS has a rag doll called 'Wayne'!! Great name :) So far we have Brier, Ma-bel, Mischu, Mondrian, Carrot (ok ok so its a carrot, not a bear!). Hunters Dad thinks breastmilk spraying across the room is hilarious too..does this make him a similar age!!?? Yah we got up to about 5hrs in 5wks yesterday! But he did ask what time swimming was yesterday (2wks away!) so :fingerscrossed: he still wants to take him.
Cordelia Great about Dwellingup. Some great mountainbike trails there! Hope Caitlin enjoys the tall trees!
Cat13, yep also on 2 icecubes a time too. veges for lunch and pear/cereal for tea. Nigella Lawson 'How To Eat' has a great section on babies.. also makes the 'introduction of tastes point' and includes all the following from 6mth- apple, pear, banana, papaya, carrot, cauliflower, potato, courgette, squash, green beans, swede, sweet potato, dried fruit (! soaked+pureed), peach, kiwi fruit, apricot, plum, melon, avocado, peas, tomato, spinach, celery, leek, sweet pepper, chicken, dairy products. parsnip. YIKES. And so far have only done those underlined few! + pumpkin, she must have forgotten it! (+beetroot!)
SammyG great about pram/cot move. The long Michael must be glad to stretch out!
Shazza, no haven't wrapped here for a long time, but the Gina Ford (pedantic) Little Contented Baby book author talks about 'semi swaddled' for easily up to this age. I think whatever works. Gro-bags work here, certainly keeps him sleeping.
Gosh they are so so sad when they are sick aren't they. Tired Mummy, can just start being able to understand some of the enormity of dealing with your sick girls (for years!) Poor Hunter just has a (man)cold and is v miserable..lots of cuddles and TLC. But so hard when they don't know it will pass. Great your Ally is back home.
Sorry to hear about Matt being sick too! (Luke+MattsMum) At least you can fed cool fruit for poor tonsils now..or slightly warm water?? So hard to know whats best to take their discomfort away!
OH and Happy Work to at least LiviesMum and Jacstar for tomorrow!! Hope yr days go really well.

oH and B-Fing role play sounds v sweet. Maybe 13 and its a worry.. great for her to understand boobs as this first than what she will, gorgeous about SammyG's friends 2yr old having to do the 'other side'! :)

oops one day I'll write a short post. Hmm Tour de France or Survivor..such a clash of my only tv interests..am so over work tonight :) happy sleeps to all, especially the snuffly ones xx
G'day MouseBrown + Cheeki28 - full on school holidays!??

Thanks for the sipper cup recommendation Flicka.....I knew there'd been a discussion on here about them ages ago but I didn't pay much attention because that seemed so far away. We've tried the Heinz baby basics sipper cup but although he loves to chew it I don't think he's worked out how to get water from it yet. Maybe he'll find the playtex one easier to use.

Cameron's half bday today  and was our 5th wedding anniversary on Friday so yesterday went for a LONG drive up north and visited a couple of fruit wineries to keep up tradition - every year so far (apart from last year) we have spent our anniversary in a different wine region. C was pretty good, he really loves being out and about and was showing off at the cellar door - he kept reaching out wanting a taste of wine too! Not yet little man.

As everyone else has said liviesmum, I don't think there is anything wrong with the BF roleplaying. Very natural. LOL, Friday we were at friends for dinner and I went into the lounge to feed C to sleep and was followed by their DD6 curious about where I was going to get C's milk from. After a few mins she ran out to excitedly tell everyone "she really DOES have milk in her boobies!!"

A few days ago, someone (sorry, can't remember who) asked about resettling bub if they have napped for less than an hour. I really don't bother trying, usually very exhausting with no result. If I know he still needs more sleep I'll get him up for a bit of a feed and play and then TRY and put him back down a bit later.

Finally got my tupperware shape-o toy for C, a $10 bargain on ebay and it was local so I could pick it up for no postage charge. Good as new  .

liviesmum ... my friends DD6 is fascinated about Josh being breast fed too. She couldn't believe that's where he got all his milk from, etc. I think roleplaying is fine.

tabby ... :fingerscrossed: for a BFP !!

solids - Josh had a few weeks off solids, but when he was on them for two weeks earlier I never gave him more than a couple of teaspoons. No wonder he often wanted more! He wouldn't get through a little jar in two days. My SIL started my nephew on solids a week ago and he's already having a jar a day. I thought it was too much, but it seems that I was starving (ok, so not really) Josh. I also had trouble finding out how much to give him cause everything says 'start off at 1 - 2 teaspoons', but doesn't say what you go up to.

Anyway, to be extra cautious (overkill I'm sure) Josh is just getting 1 teaspoon a day of solids for the next week and then if all is well, I'll increase it.

Wrapping - Josh is still wrapped. If he tries he can completely get out of it. He even nearly rolled over still wrapped up the other day, which tells me that it might be time to think about stopping wrapping. BUT, he sleeps well when wrapped and not well at all when unwrapped, so I'm going to wait. My neice is 4 months older than Josh and just stopped being wrapped in the last couple of weeks. I think we'll probably wait another month, cause dh has time off then, so we can manage any lack of sleep due to sleeping bags instead of wraps.

sammy ... :smiliedance: on the cot move! That's great! How's it going?

Us ... Josh is rolling everywhere still and I'm yet to get a playpen, but I can't wait much longer. Even while I type this he's moved over a metre away from where I put him down - but he moved in the direction of where his feet were and he couldn't turn sideways to roll ... mmm, how did he get there??!! He's still having 1 - 2 night time feeds, which I hope will decrease as his solids feeds increase. He's having a total of 7 feeds a day, but he's a growing boy and very active so he's burning it up !! I went shopping with mum this morning and got Josh a little shirt and cargo pants from Pumpkin Patch - he looks SO cute in them! All grown up!!

Cat, we use a different sipper but Katie was like that to begin with, she chewed it instead, took about 2 weeks, just keep offering it and I think what happens is they suck thinking its a bottle and then it comes out, then its like OHHhh thats how this thing works..

Charis: lol that list made my head spin!!! hehe. Will have to take notes though and get a few more for Katie, shes ready for lots more now but can never think what! thanks for that.

Lukeandmattsmum: hows the fellas? Not too bad I hope.

Tabby: I feel like I am waiting for the results. I am so excited and hopeful for you.

Mim: I went and bought Sienna some skinny leg jeans and a top from Pumpkin Patch with the sales. They look so funny because the big nappy and then these skinny legs. Too cute IMO. Would love to see a pic of Josh.

Cat13: Happy 1/2 birthday Cameron happybirthday And to everyone else that I have missed in the last couple of days. And happy anniversary. So glad you still did something it is easy to forget about your other relationship witha young baby.

Charis: Thanks for that list. This being third time round there are still vegies I forget. It sounds like H had a fantastic 1/2 birthday.

Wrapping: We still wrap her, I am just starting to loosen the wrap so she can get her arms out if she wants. It meant she woke at 4 this morning and just couldnt cope. I ended up feeding her and wrapping her tight. I will just keep doing it slowly.

Us: I am starting to arrange DS2 birthday. Its not till August but it will sneek up on me. I know. Then 2 weeks later its DS1. Busy time coming. Anyone happen to know if you can get a HI 5 cake tin. Ds2 is obsessed with them and I always try to make there cakes myself.

Hope everyone has had a great day and gets a good nights rest.

Sounds promising Tabby! At the same time must be soooo hard waiting to test & not getting too excited just in case. My fingers are crossed :fingerscrossed: (and thanks for advice about sipper cu, might keep offering it to him for a bit longer before i spend more $)

Strawberry - :yelclap: for good test results

Mim - sounds like you have your hands full with your little mover! Although C can roll both ways he is choosing not to most of the time. Still, there's a playpen on sale at toys r us at the moment that I'd like to buy.

Victoria - thanks for the anniversary & half bday wishes. We are not big on presents so always nice to try & spend some quality time to mark these occasions.

Off to eat my soup for one. Cheeky DH with his ankle still in a cast is not well enough to return to work yet but apparently fine to spend a night away fishing on his boat with a mate!

hi everyone i ment to post earlier but got caught up doing stuff.

Matt is still really sick, he has a bad throat infection and a touch of bronchillitis. so no needles for us today. Poor little fella.
Luke is over his third bout of tonsilitis within 2months of each other. I tell ya i am so sick of all this illness at the moment. I feel like i spent every spare moment i have at the doctors.

So as for me getting anymore sleep at the moment that has gone out the window, Matt was up most of the night, and i eventually got to sleep at 5:30am only to be woken at 7am by a rowdy 2yr old. Oh well it can't get much worse surely.

Lukeandmattsmum
17-07-2007, 06:51
Well it was just as bad last night. Matt has been up since about midnight. Just katnapping for short periods. I am so shagged at the moment. Oh to make it even worse Matt was sort of asleep in bed with me and i was dosing off, when DF left for work he took the wrong keys and came clomping back through the house in work boots and woke up Luke.:banghead: So i think i am just going to give up on ever getting anything close to substantial sleep soon.

So today i am going to go and do a bit of retail therapy.

Strawberry: YAY for the great results! Hope your headache has eased and you got a good sleep.

Morning all

Tabby - Sierra is quite sick. Has a really bad cough. Gets really bad that she goes bright red & gets really upset. I'm not suprised though with all the colds going around & the weather. Today is freezing, its only going to get to 11 apprently & its pourig & extremely windy. I wish i didnt have to take DD1 & 2 to kinder, otherwise i would just keep Sierra home & warm. Would love to go back to bed myself lol.

LukeandMattsMum - :hugs: Sorry the boys arent well. Hopefully you get some much needed sleep tonight :fingerscrossed: Have fun with your retail therapy.

Wow, I'm so impressed that people have been inspired by the "ditching the dummy" story! I figure it's just one less thing I have to forget!

So sorry to hear that so many bubbas are sick! Again (touchwood) nothing with Audrey yet.....though DH woke up snuffling this morning!

Now I have some solids questions....Audrey has reduced her milk feeds so much!!! We generally have a 150/200 bottle at 7am and then some porridge/fruit at around 7:30/8:00. She then doesn't have another feed until well after 11...yesterday it was 12! It's like she's gone into a breakfast lunch and dinner routine with one extra bottle at night???? And she isn't really having that much in the way of solids...just a few tablespn at breakfast and a little at night.

We discovered our new fav food though - yoghurt...just the plain full fat natural yoghurt!!! Gross.....she gulped it down!

Hope everyone is doing well - :hugs: to all sick bubbas and mummas.

Sorry to hear about the sick bubbas and tired mamas!

M finally got over his awful cough all on his own - just regular Fess drops and Panadol. Transfer to cot went without a hitch - thanks for everyones good luck wishes, they worked! He was a little unsure of the pram facing forward but has napped both times we have taken it for a spin so I guess he's decided it's ok!

Cate - we haven't started solids yet but M only has 4 BFs a day, sometimes 5. We will start next week!

Tabby, you share your birthday with my DH - I think anyone born on the 19th of any month is cool! I'm 19th Feb (along with 4 others I know) and lots of friends are 19th of various other months too!

L&MsMum, hope retail therapy worked - I'm a big fan, will hit Target on Thurs to curb my cravings for a while!

Strawberry, Fantastic about your results, hope 2nd trimester is good for you!

Charis - I think in UK pumpkin is known as Squash like Zuccini is called Courgette. I get frustrated with the mix-ups cos I always forget them and used to get sick of recipes with creme fraiche until they have released a version here!

Sammy - Glad that Michael has gotten over his cough & the cot transfer went well.

This morning was horrible trying to get the girls in the car & into kinder without getting soaked, & of course now that i have to go pick them up again soon its started pouring again (why, is that always the way?). I went to the shopping centre to do some shopping & couldnt get a park undercover so was driving around outside when i saw there was a parents parking space free, went to get it but a lady beat me too it... damn her & she had no kids, She just got out & ran into the shops. Was very annoyed lol, so i came home. Was going to go again before i picked up the girls but dont think i will now thats its started hailing lol.
Sierra has gotten worse in the last couple of hours. High temp & very grumpy & sooky. Gave her some panadol & infant demezin so hopefully she feels a bit better. Poor bubba. Really dont want to take her out again. She is supposed to be having her needles & flu shot this week but think i will put it off til shes feeling a bit better.

cate: Katie doesnt have her 2nd bottle until about 10ish/10-30. so not far off same. She has probably cut out one bottle a day since regular 3 meals.
All up how much in mils a day do you think? We are at anywhere between 750-800. average 4 bottles of 200's but sometimes she only drinks 150 of it.
I think as long as over the day the "suggested" amount is almost met?? correct me if wrong anyone.
7am 200mils
9am breaky
10-30 150mils
12-30 lunch
2pm 200mils
5pm dinner
630 200mils
sometimes there are days where there is a extra bottle in there. it changes every day.

does that even help? lol

about solids and milk ... my paed warned me that once I start solids Josh could like them so much that he cuts back drastically on the milk, or he could reject the solids and keep going on heaps of milk feeds, or anywhere in between. My niece dropped 2 feeds within a couple of weeks of starting solids, my poor SIL could only get 500 - 600ml of milk in a day, but she still gained weight just fine and all was well (and still is).

I think Josh is getting a cold and so am I. I woke up with a sore throat this morning and Josh has been grizzly today (which is his 1/2 birthday by the way :smiliedance: ). I normally wouldn't mind too much, but he's going on his first plane flight on Saturday so I hope he'll be ok by then!

hey guys Bailey has been on solids since bout three months cause milk just wasn enough. he grows up to 3cm a month hes in 00-0 hes out of control. lol who's rolling over now Bailey did it once and hasn't done it since he HATES tummy time he would prefer to be in his bouncy or stand in the walker not that he walks newherelol.

Dimetap have a cold and flu that u can give to infants I think its the only one. I give it at night so they get a good night sleep and not during the day so they can bring up the yuck cause it suppresses the cough reflex.
Just a thought for the people who have like me had sick kids for months now. Along with teething.

Hi everyone

Strawberry - yaaay for the kick. Thats just so exciting!

Tabby - can't wait to hear your test results. Sending some baby dust your way!

Mim - Josh and G have always seem to have fed the same. Before solids she was 7 - 8 b'f a day. Now she is mostly six (4 in the day and 2 at night).

Us - G has had a cold - cough, sore throat and runny nose. She appears to be over the worst of it now. I am trialling a new strict regime to see if I can cut out her catnapping and make night time better. We are on day 3 and it seems to be working. Here is our routine:

then whatever she does at night she does!

I am trialling the "sort out the day and then the night sorts itself out" theory.

The day sleeps are getting longer and although she woke up 5 times last night - she put herself back to sleep unaided twice (and thats with a snuffly nose/cough). Yaaaaaay! She is now still asleep from her morning nap - thats 1 hr 45mins and given she only used to do one sleep cycle - pretty damn good!!!

Hi there, back from my scan today and thought I would let you know how I went. Not as far as originally thought but there is a sack and a bub with a strong heartbeat so thats great:smiliedance: . I will be 7 weeks on Friday, making me due the 7th of March. The only bummer is that I am now looking forward to not another 5 weeks of m/s but atleast 7!!!

I have been feeling quite queasy lately, esp at night when I am woken by either DD's- thats when I feel really bad!

I hated going back to work Monday, a really boring Staff Development Day. Being a Food Tech teacher I had my first real bout of extreme queaziness when Year 10 cooked yesterday!!:barf:

I can certainly rant and rave!

I hope sick bubs get better soon. There is nothing worse than a sick baby.

Mim1- We still wrap Bridget at night as she sleeps longer, usually all night. She doesnt get wrapped during the day usually. DD1 was wrapped til about 10 months, would not sleep otherwise.

Thanks for all the role play advice. Sometimes your taken back by things and dont know how to deal them on the spot- then get confused because you wondered about its appropriateness anyway!

Very cold day here today. There is:snow: all around, most major roads are closed surrounding us. DD1 stayed home as it was too cold to go to school- about 5 degrees outside!

Will sign off now, Catch you all later!

happy half bday for Josh for yesterday & hope all the poor sick bubbas are feeling better soon (and let their mums catch up on much needed sleep!)

very exciting about the first kick Strawberry.

C had his needles today and was a real trooper. Let out an almighty scream for the second needle but all better within a few seconds and just interested in trying to touch and grab EVERYTHING as usual. He gets so frustrated when he sees something he wants but can't reach. Or mummy doesn't let him have....followed by tanty!

The verdict at 6 months is still long & skinny - 7kg exactly and 68cm long.

Hope all you ladies have a lovely day :)

Hi-ya Girlies,

Sorry, have been MIA lately. Been having sleep issues with TJ, don't know what the problem is, but we haven't had much sleep lately. Also been getting outside with the nice weather we've been having rather than sitting at the PC. Then when I did get motivated to sit online, the phone line developed a fault:banghead: .

Tabby...thanks for the thought
Strawberry...:smiliedance: for bub's first kick
Bottles...Since starting solids TJ has really gone off her bottle. I was reading something the other day that suggested they need at least 600ml of milk a day still. Some days we make that quota, others we fall short. I've introduced her to jelly (in a jar) after her main meal as I found with DD1 it helped with constipation. Either way TJ is still booming. She's almost outgrown some of her 0 clothes. Keep having to dive into the boxes of clothes to find thing to wear. Will have to put her in big girl PJ's soon (separate top and bottom).

Sleep...is anyone else finding bub cries out (real hurt cry) in their sleep? TJ does this most nights at least once. When I get up to check her she's sound asleep. Any ideas?

TJ's due for her next needle, will have to get organised for it next week. I'm having arguments with the Imunisation Register at the moment about her 4mth needles. Seems they haven't got records of it happening. Hope by having her 6mth needles this will get sorted out.

:hugs: to the sick bubs and sleep deprived mums.

Mouse, Get whoever did the 4month jabs to give you a receipt # for the immunisation register, they should have one if they want to get paid for the service!

DS1 still cries out in his sleep at almost 3, M does occasionally - a really sharp yelp then rolls over as if nothing happened!

Liviesmum, MS is the worst but remember it's not forever and for me it was comforting to know my body was doing something! With my 2nd pregnancy I had no MS and it resulted in a miscarriage. DS1 used to copy me barfing while I was PG with M - very funny!

Off to the movies tonight with my Mum to see Harry Potter - can't wait. The last movie I saw I was PG and timing silly BH contractions throughout the whole thing.

Anyone else hitting the Target Toy Sale tomorrow? The Fisher Price Rocking Horse will be for M's 1st Xmas!

mim1

Target Toy sale :smiliedance: I'm getting the swing! $99 yeah!! It will probably last at least 2 more months and it could last 4 or 5 months, but even if it only lasts a week it will be worth it! I got some things from the Kmart sale, but I'm not willing to think about buying for Christmas now ... not even sure if I will ... maybe I'll buy up big in the post Christmas sales and just give him a big 1st birthday!

Hi ladies

Strawberry - yay for the first kick. It is so exciting. OOOOhhhh - I'm feeling clucky (must be ovulating)

Liviesmum - Hooray for seeing bubs heart beating away. I am so happy for you and agree with Sammy about the m/sickness. Wasn't my fav part of being pg but at least you know your hormones are raging.

Cat - :hugs: for cameron and his needles!

target toy sale - yes, I will be there with bells on at 8am tomorrow. Kelsey in the baby carrier and me pushing a trolley. I hope it isn't too insane. I am getting Kelsey the walk to ride lion for christmas. Also need to layby pressies for the nieces and nephews for christmas. I sussed out some comparative prices at kmart and big w this week too and saw that kmart have alot of fisher price gear on special too so if I miss out at target I am heading down there.
I hope it isn't too insane - I have no intention of elbowing out other mums to get a bargain!!

Us - Kelsey is going well. Yesterday I helped her up into a crawling position and she bounced there for ages before grizzling - I think she was stuck! She is loving her solids but it hasn't helped her sleep thru. She is still waking 1-2 times for a feed and last night it was 3 times (then once for Ds and once to let the cat out!!!). Where did my baby go that slept thru the night?

Well, I'm off to get some sleep. Dh is on nightwork so I have all of the night duties. I miss my Dh when he isn't here as he is the one that gets out of bed for the kids. He brings Kelsey to me, I feed and then I shove him to wake him up and he puts her back to bed!!! Naughty me!!

take care xx

 Oh my GOLLY WOLLY!!! Tell me it gets better!! he he.

I think Hunter really used to be a great day sleeper, ok ok so maybe I was blessed..it used to take 20mins of screaming for him to sleep (in a galaxy far far away now)..then he was easy to put to sleep..then he hated the big cot..then he was easy to put to sleep..then he started solids and sleeps solidly for 12hrs (ok ok with 1-2 feeds)..but YIKES TODAY he had about 3 cat naps and all in the car while I was driving. We really needed a break from each other. Is this how others get on!?? Or am I just going through a growth spurt myself!! :)

HAppy 1/2 Birthday to JOSH for yesterday! And beautiful heart warming new life thoughts for Strawb+LiviesMum. And that voice of experience from Flicka and SammyG about sales. Gosh Xmas shopping. When do they realise that they get presents?? he he I would like to buy a swing though.

MouseBrown, Cameron and Hunter had the same conversation a while back about the earthshattering piercing scream while fast asleep..maybe Caitlin too, was it Cordelia?? I initially thought it might be mossies for H, but I think it is dreaming. Poor TJ too!

Flicka love the crawling rocking position description for K he he. Mum brought over a squashy ball that is co-incidentally 'fitball' size for H..and he does some hands and feet down over the top of it, leotards on, of course.

Oh and good news..though not holding my breath..but after 5wks of his Daddy not being v communicative or attentive or even visiting..lets say 5hrs in total over that time. He has come good..and things are looking much happier. :yelclap: Night all. Better do some of that work :)

Hi:wave:

Have been trying to keep up with the last few pages here as things aren't too hectic at the moment. Happy half birthdays to all bubs who have turned 6 months recently. I really can't believe that the 1st bday is that close, wow!!

Well if I didn't feel like a mum before I do now....we just bought a minivan today! I can't believe it, said I never would but it is practical at the moment and was a good deal. SO our transition here has been good so far. Still no job for dp as we're still waiting for his visa but thats ok. More time for him to spend with X. To answer you CHARIS my folks are really great with him, just love him to bits naturally. I think mum is going to babysit for us soon so we can go to a movie. can't wait. So glad to hear that H'S dad has come around and things are seeming happier!

Anyone crawling yet? I think we are so close, but kinda dreading it to be honest, he keeps me busy enough!

I love hearing about our pg mummas on here. Makes me very clucky too hearing about the scans, kicks.......all that time really does fly by when it seems like it's dragging on doesn't it.

MOUSE yes we have that loud cry during sleep sometimes too. In the "baby whisperer book", she refers to it as their "mantra" cry.....and I can't remember exactly why, but it's normal so that's all that matters lol. BTW have been reading the possum magic book to X lots lately, thanx again, he loves it!

FLICKA we're still up 1-2 (sometimes 3X) at nite despite solids and a bottle of formula before bed. I'm just trying to not care anymore about the sleep issue, they will sleep thru when they're ready, and doesn't look like anytime soon for us. Just know you're not alone, actually very FEW bubs this age sleep thru, i've just read also that bubs waking shows their brain is really acitve and forming well, so that's only a good thing!

hope to catch up sooner next time but my angel is needing some mummy cuddles now.

Take care all:babydust2: sorry i just like that one lol

Morning all

Hi Bex, Glad things are going well.

Elle: Glad the sleep pattern seems to be working, :fingerscrossed: it gets better day by day. Hope the cold improves too.

liviesmum: Yay for the scan, disappointing to be 2 weeks less but ahhh still all the wonderful! Am sure time will fly being so busy.

Mouse: Sorry to hear TJ still isnt sleeping well. Can only :hugs: and hope it gets better soon for you. Hope you sort out the paper work imm too.

Sammy: Hope you had a great time movies. I know I did the other week, been too long!

Mim: have fun shopping!

Charis: LOL hun, yes it does get better!!!
Your doing a wonderful job and a awesome Mum, H is very very lucky, hang in there, hopefully now Daddy is back he may give you some time out soon. Even if its just to shower long and pamper a bit ALL uninterrupted might help, youll feel like Sophie again I promise.
heh had to giggle at the visual on H on the ball in leotards, goodness me they were leopard print!!! sorry

ok ok I caved and tested, dont get excited yet!!! There seems to be a VERY faint line, but until I can see it without the turning/twisting /light access Im not celerbrating but am very hopeful. Oh doesnt help that I get up to pee at 2-3am, no strong first morning pee. So thats what time I did it.
Will test again Saturday after shopping, ill get some more. Keep the fingers and toes crossed a bit longer please my lovely friends.

Till later!

argh missed you Aries! I really should learn to short post occasionally lol

anyhow wonderful to hear from you, things sound wonderful. great that you can get to go out and about again now too, some "me" "you and dp" time, just what we all need thats for sure.
No crawling ,she absolutely HATES tummy time, always has. she rolled at 4half months and didnt do it after a week, she did it again yesterday twice and her face was like "errrr no" and now back to not doing it lol. she really must hate it
Think once she can raise up that will change though, the reflux prob feels bad when on tummy now so can understand her there.

better run, Katies gone quiet!! and shes in the walker lol, quite the traveler now in it, probably pulling all the sheets out from under the change table her room, like last week

WOW!:fingerscrossed: Tabby- The box does say the faintest of lines usually indicates a positive!! (Can you tell I have been reading a test box Lately? LOL!)

Sound Like things are going great Aries- whats the time difference there? No crawling here, but rolls and tries to get on all fours!

Charis- Bridget usually sleeps well during the day but we have days where the catnap is it! That drives us both crazy. She use to go down really easy in the mornings but now it takes a bit of effort, sometimes resorting to the rocking chair. Maybe they do just go through fazes and we need to adapt to them??

Thanks for the m/s well wishes. I know it is positive to feel so bad, esp after all of my m/c dramas but it is hard to get up out of bed when you know it will hit you the moment you do! Was offered a casual days work today and we need the money but I just could not fathem the thought of working while feeling so yuck when I didnt really have to!:ecomcity:

Bridget is screaming in the cot, better get to the rocking chair now!

Hi everyone

Liviesmum - Great news about the scan but not so good about the MS, hope you start feeling better soon.
Tabby - :fingerscrossed: for you. Sounds promising though. Very excited for you.
Charis - I think every baby goes thru exactly what you are describing at some point. My DD1 still hasnt gotten out of it. Has always been a bad sleeper & it still drives me crazy. If i'm not up with Sierra, i'm up with her. But it will get better & hopefully you can have a bit of a break & have some time to yourself. :hugs:

Us - Sierra is still sick, still grumpy but has been sleeping heaps because of it. She still wakes up cos of coughing & gets upset about it but then will jsut fall back to sleep. DH has a job interview tonight, well basically just going to talk to a guy about positions he has available & see what they are offering. DH is happy in his job now but would leave if the right position came up. So we'll see.
I forgot the target toy sale started today... how convenient when i got the family tax supplements form centrelink today as well lol. Might go have a look & layby some things. XMas time is so busy for us cos its DD1 & 2 b'days on xmas day & boxing day. Then it will be Sierra's only a few weeks after that. Better start organising now i think lol.
About crawling... Sierra is not interested at all, shes still not even interested in standing or rolling. She hates tummy time, like Katie does Tabby. I think we've mentioned that before. So i think crawling is a long way off. But she loves sitting & is sitting really well. I took a couple of pics yesterday with her holding onto the formula can. Did the same with DD1 when she was the same age, so thought i'd do it again. Sierra thought it was funny & kept bending down to try & chew the lid lol.

I got the swing for Josh! forgot the batteries though, so he's playing in it now without swinging or music, but he still enjoys it! :)

tabby ... :fingerscrossed: that it is a real :bfp: I'd suggest testing after your longest sleep, so if that's 3am, that should be ok

liviesmum ... have you thought about trying maxalon? I had shocking overnight nausea and I took maxalon before bed and at about 2 or 3am (whenever I got up to go to the toilet) and it meant I felt 100 times better and got sleep when I was able to lie down, rather than laying awake feeling sick.

charis ... josh will sleep for 1 - 2 hours 3 or 4 times a day for days on end, then he'll sleep for 1/2 hour 3 times on a day and it drives me nuts!!! Yesterday he slept lots in the morning and early afternoon, but from 4pm til 10pm he only slept for 45 minutes! I was SO exhausted and dh had work to do but Josh just wanted to play and not on his own - he wanted us with him.

Better go ... gotta go out soon and i have heaps to do.

Hi :babydust2:

Charis - lol about the leotard. I also imagined leopard print with some black leggings to finish off the outfit!!! Do they make leotards with press studs in the crotch for easy nappy changes!!!

Aries - glad to hear things are going well you crazy mini van mum!!! Thanks for the words about sleeping thru. I agree (you are right)they will do it when ready. I think Ds was about 10 or 11 months when he started sellping thru. This morning Kelsey woke only an hour after a feed (at 4am) so I just put her back in the cot, turned off the monitor and buried myself under the doona. Sure enough she went back to sleep. Yes, these night wakings could be due to development. It feels kinda nice that someone over the other side of the world (you and X) might be awake too - although not at the same time due to time difference!!!

Oh, forgot to say Charis - I think all babies get a bit clingy around this age. They are so much more aware of us and want to be with us all of the time. If I leave Kelsey alone in a room she has something to say about it. I even take her to the loo with me (to the doorway). Rest assured - it does get easier. I actually love it when they can crawl as they follow you around and tend to become a bit more independant. But this age is tiring as they are so demanding. I just wrote all of that and don't really think I told you anything you don't already know or even anything you might want to know!!! Blah blah blah.....

Tabby - oh my gosh I am feeling so excited and can't wait to hear when you test again. Hmmm - getting up to pee at 3am?? sounds like a good sign to me!!

Yes, I braved the toy sale today too. Got there at about 8am and only about 20 others there which was good. I raced around and grabbed what I wanted (glow worm, toy telephone and walk/ride lion for Kelsey. Fisher price clock and toy i-pod for DS). I also got some xmas pressies for the nieces and nephews and don't laugh........got a cabbage patch kid for Kelsey but I think I will just put it away for now. I LOVE shopping for the kids. Anyway, I lay-by'd everything and was in and out in about 45 mins.

Well, I've taken up enough space with this post. take care! xx

Tabby – :fingerscrossed: for :bfp: Sounds promising. (my first test was very faint)

Liviesmum –Great news about your scan. I hope your morning sickness settles soon.

Tired mummy – Sorry to hear Sierra is still sick. :hugs: hope she gets better soon.

Aries – Great to hear from you. Sounds like your having a great time over there.

For all the sick bubs big :hugs: to you all. I hope they get well real soon.

Us - Not much is happening here. Didn’t go to the Target toy sale. I went to the kmart’s toy sale. I did all the Christmas pressies and Talon’s b’day pressie all in one go. Now I just need to wrap them and my Christmas is done.

Well its official Hubby got his posting order. Were not heading to Perth, we are heading to Darwin. Leaving 1st week of November so I can get booked into a hospital asap. We are all excited, been to Darwin before and absolutely love it We were abit disappointed not getting Perth but there’s always a next time. Anyway better go Talon’s rolling around the lounge room floor getting into stuff.

Take care

Hi all

Aries - glad to hear you are happy and settled back home.

Tabby - faintest line - v v v exciting!!!

Flicka - When G has been waking up an hr after feeds at night - I have also been ignoring (she isn't crying - just whinging) and eventually goes back to sleep. I have decided that now she is on 3 meals, I am going to only get up and feed to a cry, not a whinge (you are all probably thinking duh!).

Us - daytime sleeps continue to improve. Yesterday we had 2 hours in the morning and an hour and a half in the afternoon. Today we have again had two hours in the morning and currently been asleep for 1 hour 25 mins now! Night has improved only in that she has stopped the wake ups she used to do 1 - 2 hrs after being put to bed (where she would just be inconsolable!). I still fed her twice last night - at 11pm and 3am. I just don't understand how come she can't put herself back to sleep through the night as she puts herself to sleep unaided for her her day sleeps and when she first goes down at night. She doesn't even have a dummy. And she can't be hungry. Oh well, as Aries and Flicka said, it will happen eventually.

Positive news is that she is sitting!!! Yaaay! She can roll - but chooses not to, unless I put her on her tummy - which she hates, and then she rolls promptly onto her back. Like all those whose babies hate tummy time - I think she will be slowish to crawl.

Elle xxx

Wow, i haven't been on for ages. How many pregnant ladies do we have? Congrats!

I havent read through. Tom is a bit sick i think. He has just started on two feedings of solids a day. It was an attempt to get him to sleep more, but no lick. He does 4 hours then two hours till about 7 or 8...im very tired!

I hope your all well, just thought i would check in!

Tabby, A line is a line!!! I will get excited for you!!!

Acacia, hope you get some rest soon, I grab it when I can!

Ellembee, fantastic naps.

Strawberry, sorry you didn't get Perth as you wanted but glad you are looking forward to Darwin. One of my MG pals came back from a stint there last year, I will miss her dreadfully when they get their next posting (hopefully not till late 08)

Flicka - I got the rocking horse for M and the FP clock for B (great minds think alike) I sussed out where everything was yesterday and was in and out within 30mins this morning. I put lots of gifts on layby too! B is being invited to 4 Birthday parties already in Sep (2 are doubles for twins)

Tiredmummy, hope Sierra gets better soon! Michael also does not like standing or tummy time but is closer to sitting unaided now.

Me, Movies was fun although felt sick after scoffing an entire pack of maltesers and small coke!

Charis, Glad H's dad is improving!

YAHHH!!!
Love SammyG's bold red above as so so wonderful, I read your line post a few hours ago Tabby and only just got back on now..and SO WONDERFULLY EXCITING have been thinking about you these last few hours...doing this: :smiliedance: . I remember checking it in every type of light and twisting and turning it and I agree A LINE IS A LINE!!! No false positives..still it is the best and most exciting bit being 'slightly pregnant'.. :fingerscrossed: you know for "sure" v soon.

THANK YOU ALL so much and esp LiviesMum, TiredMummy and Mim1 who voiced exactly the same 'go insane :hair: when all of a sudden it drops to 3xcatnaps' thought. So relieving to know it isn't 'FOREVER' and that it happens to others too. You girls are awesome. Had a v strung out morning felt like I wasn't doing anything properly:work/mothering and fortunately made it in time to the end of 'rhymetime' where 3 Mum-friends all said they;d had about as little sleep too. Felt human after a cup of tea+chat. Bubhub is just the same. :) THANK YOU.

Of course today he was a precious sleeping honey.. YAH YAH YAH Oh yes and the leopard print leotard and black leggings will make an appearance one day. He he, remember bodysuits (!! all us '80s girls!) I'm sure they are available as leotards, ugh.

speaking of inappropriate looks..well really v appropriate, and just like Flicka/Kelsey, Hunter now doesn't put up with me having a shower away..so he is installed in a highchair there. Well today he definitely gave me that look that I've really only encountered with chaps who work in Car Wrecking businesses (not much offence intended) but that look of grinning and being unable to take his eyes off my chest!!! he he. Yes Foooood!!

Flicka, ARH the 5am wake, yes crazy the same here last night, he was wide awake with his 'Chucky' look at 6am..an hr before he normally does. Oh well, now I know that its not necessarily a pattern..I hope K returns to normal too..or the else that the doona monster is as sound attenuating tomorrow too. Oh and any advice is so welcome, I am liking the thought of him crawling, after your words.

Ellembee - the differentiation btw whinging and crying sometimes is just not clear to me in the middle of the night. I sometimes have found I'm already sitting feeding before thinking about it properly..but feeding often feels a much faster solution..not of course! Am sure none of us think 'Duh'

Acacia - sorry to hear Tom is sick hon. Oh so hard, may he recover v v fast.Great for the direction Strawb, we'll miss you here in Perth, but great to know and now make the plans to birth in Darwin!! The sales sound fun and fast SammyG, Flicka, StrawB S and Mim1! Impressive. YAH and HI to ARIES and X. SO great!! Mr Crawly pants! Post some photos soon !!

Thanks everyone,
Am off later to get more tests, should be able see clearly by now.

Sammy: Lol thanks, deep down inside Im excited, am just holding it in till later today I think...So thanks for being excited on my behalf till then lol.

Acacia: Hope you get some better sleeps soon.

Charis, had to laugh at the shower ogling by Hunter. Speaking of leopard prints, mil got Katie some leopard tights to wear under a purple skirt, they are purple tinted though so not too bad, she does look like shes on her way to the 70's aerobics with a matching head band and without the skirt ha.
Glad H was sleeping better, mm Katie has those days too, I just try to go with it, no housework and nap with her when can in hope that she will sleep longer.

Elle: Sounds like the day routine is going beautifully! Well done and hope it continues to get better and better and those nights get the same.

Strawberry: awww was SO looking forward to meeting you but as said your going somewhere youve been before and looking forward to it, hopefully one day we can meet you xxx

Flicka: ah glad you had a great time toy shopping, heh I had to avoid it, we cant quite afford sprees just yet. AM sure there is more where dp will let me loose lol

argh Katies grumbling.

Hi everyone

Tabby - Funny about DP  Cant wait to hear your results :fingerscrossed:

Had a horrible night. Sierra went down at 7 & then woke @ 11pm. That was ok but from 11pm onwards she woke every 15-45mins until 9am this morning. DH even got up once for her. Well thats only cos i made him lol. She eventually calmed a bit when i gave her some demazin this morning & she watched TV while i slept on the couch til 11am lol. DD1 & 2 were still asleep too so that was a relief. But then soon after the girls woke up DD2 started vomiting :( Taking Sierra to the dr's tonight so hopefully he might be able to give her something to help her feel better & have a good sleep.
I'm hoping they are all better soon, am supposed to be going out to dinner & a movie tomorrow night with DH for a bit of a break but dont think thats gonna happen. Last time i had organised a break for us, Ally ended up in hospital. So :fingerscrossed: they are feeling better by tomorrow night.

oo ah! Another possible positive.... *sits on edge of seat*

Had a great time away - Caitlin's sleeping is just awesome lately: 9-6:30. But yeah, come to expect that these things go in cycles so am feeling fairly relaxed that there are some nightmare nights ahead.

Am feelign a lot better about feeding - she feeds wonderfully first feed and last feed but the feeds in between are sometimes hell so if they are I'm just giving her a bottle of formula or expressed milk instead of gritting my teeth and perservering - I think 7 months of perserverance is enough!!

tired-mummy - what a night! I hope things get better for you

charis - ahhh..... it's kind of funny when they start grabbing at your breasts at home but when they do it in public... mmm... !! Caitlin usually does it when she's tired more than when she's hungry... she likes to snuggle in.

Hey how you all, just finished work and home a bit early to catch up on posts.

Charis- ha ha about the body suits, I remember how uncomfortable the clasps in the crutch were and that is about it!!

MIM1- havent thought about the maxalon, but that could be a goer- do I need to see the Dr for it?

Tiredmummy- Sorry to hear about the sleepless nights, there is nothing worse. I hope the girls get better soon. Lovely pics of Sierra sitting too! I had not really realised your Xmas b'day dilemmas!! I thought both DD's and me in January was tough!

tabby- getting anxious about the possible impending:bfp: . Just figured we should both be March mummies if its all POSITIVE!!

Acacia- Hope Tom Gets better soon, nothing worse than a sick bub.

Strawberry- WOW, Darwin. My Brother lived in Darwin when he was in the army. It is such a lovely place, so much to do, you lucky thing!

On the home front, Having some difficult nights with Bridget. She is in our bed most of the time as it is easier for me feeling sick to deal with her there. She just cuddles up and goes back to sleep. Will just not settle in her own bed at night!:hair:

Wish we had Target. It is coming but not for another couple of months will have to make the trip to Lithgow or Cowra to shop maybe?? How long is the toy sale on?

The troupe are home from school better go see them!

LiviesMum - The toy sale goes until Sunday the 29th. Its hasnt been too difficult yet with DD1 & 2 having there b'days on xmas but now they are getting older they are realising especially DD1. Think it will be harder as the get even older. Will just have to start buying & organising earlier

still waiting to hear from tabby ...

liviesmum ... yep, you need to see your doctor. There are a number of medications they can offer. I knew about them, but waited 3 weeks to actually go and get a script. I wish I'd done it earlier, cause those 3 weeks were rough. Elevit also helped me, BUT it's such a huge tablet that taking it often made me sick  I found it could take it a few hours after maxolon though.

Josh is really getting into EVERYTHING! We can't take our eyes off him for more than a few seconds. I really need to get a playpen when we get back from our Queensland holiday next week. dh has been on holiday (sort of) this week and mum has been around a fair bit, so I haven't felt like I've been stuck in the lounge when he's up for playtime.

cordelia ... 7 months of breastfeeding is a huge achievement, especially if it's been a struggle. The aim from WHO is at least 6 months if possible (or something like that anyway). I always thought that I'd stop around 8 or 9 months ... now I think I'll keep going til 12 months perhaps. My SIL stopped bf'ing my nephew at 8 months.

tired*mummy ... BIG :hugs: You've had a rough time recently. I hope they all get better really soon and you get some more sleep and rest during the day. AND, that you get some time out with your dh, it's hard to find the time, but it's so important isn't it? I know it's important, but dh and I haven't had time out together without Josh for months, and I also hope that we'll have some of that in coming weeks.

Better go. We're flying to Queensland in the morning and I've got a lot to do.

charis ... josh will sleep for 1 - 2 hours 3 or 4 times a day for days on end, then he'll sleep for 1/2 hour 3 times on a day and it drives me nuts!!! Yesterday he slept lots in the morning and early afternoon, but from 4pm til 10pm he only slept for 45 minutes! I was SO exhausted and dh had work to do but Josh just wanted to play and not on his own - he wanted us with him.

this is exactly the same for us...ranges anywhere between 2 3hr sleeps on a brilliant day & sometimes only 2 20min naps on a :banghead: day. Had a few good nights but then another wakeful night last night. Definitely seems to be just phases/cycles though and not a trend so trying my best to be patient with him.

went to the target sales too, bought the 'bouncin baby play place' - one of those walker type thingies that isn't actually a walker but something to sit him in with lots of gizzmos to play with. Put it together yesterday & he was so excited, he didn't know what to play with first!

Also, for anyone nervous about 6 month needles, we had absolutely no side effects at all this time around, not even any swelling.

Have a great holiday Mim!

:fingerscrossed: for you Tabby!!!

Charis - I laughed so loud when I read about Hunter's 'Chucky' look that I thought I woke the kids!!! I am assuming you mean that eerie doll from the movie?? Come to think of it, an excellent way to describe that early morning look. kelsey does it too.....

Well my little ones both have a bit of a cough at the moment. It must be upsetting kelsey as she didn't eat her dinner tonight but just had 2 long boobie snacks.

Speaking of boobs - Charis (and your boob/shower story) when DS was little he used to try and latch on for a feed when we were in the shower!!! Also I used to lay down to feed lots and would put him on the bed, lift my shirt and unleash the girls and he used to just fall about laughing and squeal with excitement. Ah, well that's boys and boobs for you!!

Mim - Hope you have a great holiday.

Liviesmum - :hugs: for your difficult nights. You must be so tired at the moment.

tired mummy - Hope your brood are all on the mend and you get your well deserved night out.

Take care. Will def be checking in tomorrow to find out your news Tabby!!! :babydust2:

Cordelia: Glad the holiday went well. Hope those good sleeps continue.

liviesmum: yes It would be wonderful to share the pregnancy journey with someone from here again!!! Still have hope, Ide just like to see it get darker before I celebrate is all :fingerscrossed:
Hope your un settled nights are not for long and it improves soon, also that your m/s eases.

Mim: Have a wonderful flight/holiday, hope all goes well!

Cat: I 2nd the 6months needles comment, other than a bit of a cry all was well here too, glad yours went good too.

Feeling way tired tonight...Katie woke 530am and she wouldnt sleep this arvo so no mummy nap! Mind you she crashed at 630 no problems, out like a light in 30 seconds lol. How she managed to stay awake for 4 hrs I dont know, and wasnt grizzly either.

As said will only test tomorrow again if I can get a decent fmu. Otherwise Ill wait a few days. AF due in 3 days.

Good sleeps to all

:fingerscrossed: for you Tabby

Sorry girlies, I've read everyones posts, but I'm too tired to remeber what I should comment on, so no personals.

DD1 and I went to see the Fairies today. We both had a great time. It was cute to see all these little girls walking through the centre of Perth dressed in Fairy dresses (DD1 included):p .

Had a couple of ok nights with TJ, but last night was a bit ordinary, 1.30 then 3.45 for 45 min and up for the day at 6:sleeping: . What's a mummy nap Tabby, its been so long since I've had a daytime nap I've forgotten about them.

TJ has been getting up on all fours a lot lately and rocking, where's my baby gone? She's also been giving Dad the raz lots lately.

Got to go, bed is calling,
Lisa

Hi Everyone

Tabby - i still have my :fingerscrossed: for you.

Well i took Sierra to the dr's last night & ended up going to the hospital :( Stayed there for hours. She had a chest xray & it wasnt good. Has a lot of congestion & fluid on her lungs. They said Acute Bronchiolitis. But they wouldnt give her anything for it. They wanted us to stay overnight but i said what are you going to do for her & they said nothing. So i decided we would be better off at home & DH had to work today & couldnt get anyone to replace him as his boss is in Singapore & its only him & one other guy & i would have gotten my SIL's to watch DD1 & 2 but both of there babies are sick too. One has pnuemonia & they other one has what Sierra has, so i didnt want to risk Ally getting sick again. But i think i made a good decision cos Sierra was exhausted while at the hospital & she was falling asleep sitting up & when we got home she slept for 5 1/2 hours without a sound & after she had a little feed & some panadol she slept for another 4 hrs. I think it did her good. Shes still quite sick but i might call my GP today & see if he can give her anything.
So that was my friday night, dont think we will be going out to dinner & the movies tonight but i was expecting that cos something always happens when DH & I have plans. Hopefully next time we will actually get to go out lol.

Ooooh poor tired Mummy I feel so sorry for you. You are such a persistent and patient mummy.. you have been through a lot lately..

Tabby- good luck with :bfp: . I actuially testsed the other day as I haven't had AF since going off depo.. was negative.. but we are not preventing another pregnancy in near future.. it's all very exciting!

Well I understand all the frustration with sleep... Alexander was having two 2 hour day time sleeps but now he has one (1 hour sleep- apparently that is only one sleep cycle and it's not enough according to "Sleep Right, Sleep Tight") and then another really long sleep. AND the night times are KILLING ME.. I know i can't expect sleeping through but last night he woke at 11pm and I fed him then he didn't go back to sleep til after 1.30am. I felt like he was a newborn. The annoying thing is that he wasn't actually crying he was just doing the wind-down groan. I could have thrown the monitor out of the window. I was in a state by the end- but finally he fell asleep on his own after another feed at 1:20am.

What gets me is how you settle a baby of 6 moths when anything you do really sends them off. It's not like when he was 6 wks old when you could rock/ pat/ shush. It's very difficult sometimes.. But today the sleeps have been better.:fingerscrossed:

Welcome to the Jan group Miraclebaby, we look forward to chatting with you. Which city/town are you in?

Tabby...A good idea to take a step backwards, worrying about it won't necessarily make it happen.
Tiredmummy...:hugs: :hugs: to all your sick girlies.
Cordelia...how are you going for clothes? I've got a bag of 00's here for you if you want.

An ok night here. TJ woke at 1ish and then was up for they day at 5.30:sleeping: .

I too made it to the Target toy sale on Thursday. There was already lots of people (all dutifully lined up) when I got there. I spied trollies near the door so wandered down to get one then stood nearby (there was lots of room). One lady turned to me and said: 'The lines over there'. Almost asked her where it was written in the catalog that you had to line up:rolleyes: ? Needless to say the nice big area (near the front of the beautifully organised line) where I then stood soon filled up with other latecomers. Having been to check out where everything was a few days before I was in and out in 10 minutes.

TJ's just woken up from a cat nap, so had better go,
Lisa
